I am currently using Hells ROM JB 4.2.1 but there are to many bugs. I got to work and my phone wouldn't turn on so I had to battery pull and when I turned the phone back on my battery was at 80% (was 100% before I left for work). Also, was on the phone two different times and phone randomly rebooted itself. The phone is for my girlfriend and I know she'll be complaining with these bugs present lol. I just want the most stable ROM for this phone. If there is a JB ROM that doesn't have these issues please let me know. Otherwise a ICS ROM that doesn't have any of these issues, or lastly a GB ROM since that I would assume is probably the most stable considering it was the last release VZW put out for the Fassy. Thanks in advance guys!
To me Team Baked blackbean 6 was most stable
http://goo.im/devs/BAKED/fascinatemtd/baked_fascinatemtd_blackbean-6.zip
And their inverted gapps
http://goo.im/devs/BAKED/gapps/gappsinverted-jb-20130118-tegra2-signed.zip
Their are some initial setup tweaks, but it's been great...
You'll also probably get some others mentioned,,,
,,,some phones work better with certain ROMs others don't,,,, kinda luck of the draw sometimes,,,,,,
,,, but AOKP MS1 was also very stable
Random reboots are gonna happen though some less often,,,
trying each one it's really only way to BEST figure out your own most stable ROM,,,
Just gotta embrace a little testing knowing their will be some issues and trial and error

Thanks for the reply. My girlfriend doesn't like change to much so let's see how this goes ha!
I'd suggest trying AOKP JB Milestone 1 or any CM10 or CM10.1 nightly. Personally the most stable rom I've ever been on was the CM10 nightlies
i was running the aokp pub build and found that it was a complete battery hog. i found google to be quite laggy with the pub build. now im running helly bean 4.2, the build that was put out a couple of days ago, and every thing is peachy. i havent had any reboots and only a couple fc's. im pretty new to flashing roms but this is what ive found..... good luck.
these roms have extended the life of an old device until i find a phone i like. props to the devs. you all are AMAZING!!!!!!!
I've been running Helly Bean 4.2.1 for a week or two now. I haven't noticed any major bugs, though, as it is the newest version, it does take up a significant amount of RAM, so just be ready for some lag.

Have you edited your performance settings? Try putting it on smartass v2 with sio scheduler minimum CPU on 200 and maximum on 1400 then you shouldn't notice a bit of lag Lil that's what I'm running

lil off topic
i was hoping you guys could point me in the right direction.
before running hellybean i used adw ex as my launcher, it had the option to lock the desktop. i cant find this option on the hellybean rom.
i want this option because it keeps me from accidentally moving my icons and changing the setup of my screens.
sorry to hijack the thread but i didnt want to start a new one.

I've never seen this option in Helly Bean. I've also never had this problem... What you could do, if you really liked ADW is continue to use it as your launcher on this rom, from what I've seen it can do basically everything any ICS+ launcher can do. Or you can try Nova/Apex launchers.

really? you've never had an icon move accidentally or one of your icons move off the dock bar? it doesn't happen that often but i want to lock it so it has to be unlocked in order to remove an icon.
i really didnt want to use adw ex because it puts its own spin on jelly bean and i like the hellybean rom. i think hellybean is basically pure android. i think!!

I can't decide which one to instal
MIUI Galnet 1.9.9
or MIUI 1.9.26
so i'm asking you from your own experience.
which one is faster?
which one has less bugs?
thank you
There's bmarko's version and galnet's version... flip a coin, heads is bmarko's and tails is galnet's.
If you want samsung apps, go for galnet, if you don't need them, go bmarkos...
Although, my personal opinion is that you can install samsung apps on bmarkos one with a flashable zip, and bmarkos one was less buggy than galnet last time I checked...

MIUI is very customisable, lots of options and has a great GUI
iPhone like. depends on your preference!
p.s. I installed galnet yesterday, and the torch kept force closing...
The most thing that matters to me is the speed.

Yes no need the apps torch in miui rom home buttom 5 sec and the light glow ^^
i've test both and i like bmarko 's one but really it's difficult to select one (test yourself) both are at in develloppement no stable real release for now..
What about the Italian build? worth considering?
that is also 1.9.26 (I think?) It was mentioned in the later pages of Bmarko's thread.
Once I get bored of Bmarko's Ill give the Italian build a go I think, Then give Galnet a go once Im bored of that (or if I find any deal breaker bugs).
I seem to be using the torch a lot (well, 3 times) in the 24 hours Ive used Bmarko's rom just because I have it available to me (coming from the HTC Hero [with no led flash] its helped a lot when I had to check a cable on my pc under the desk, etc etc) so Ill leave off Galnet for now.
That and the heating up issue.. (yes I know "he didnt install it right", but seems to be a lot of people that have the same issue and most swear blind they have..)
Also I really like the stock browser, Which Galnet doesn't seem to have (not tried the replacement yet though.)
The only bug people have mentioned about the Italian one is the broken video recording which can be fixed by pushing Bmarko's file over to it.
(and BT issues all the other ones seem to have).
Loving MIUI and the work thats going into it from the devs though, Cant go back to the other roms now!

Right now, for Vibrant's case.
*>Passion/Euphoria
Passion/Euphoria are both outdated by any ROMS released these days.
Passion and Euphoria both have bugs that have been fixed, but the ROM was not updated.
I HIGHLY recommend you move on to a different ROM if you are still on Passion or Euphoria.
Agree with x. Passion was good but never updated. I haven't tried Chimera. I'm currently on Gummy 1.2/Devil 3.0.75!
What are you looking at shortbus......
I know, I still in euphoria and I am thinking to change to a different rom, I havent had any trouble on euphoria at all by the way.
Chimera is a nice rom . It has great battery life as well . The installer is crazy it is a touch installer . You could also use the installer to modify your install of chimera later. There are options for different kernels , fonts , themes , inverted gapps and so on . I was on utopia but it didn't have tv out so I switched to Chimera and I'm very happy with it .

I have been running chimera for about a week now and i am loving it. Its stable fast and tons of customizable options. I would recommend switching over to chimera if you havent already, definitely the best ROM offered by Team Passion at the moment. O yea, the custom installer is SICK!
I just downloaded Chimera and I'm going to flash it tomorrow and let you know... currently running Euphoria and while I loved it at first, it has had a lot of slow down and some issues recently with force closing.

I've used it for a little over a day now, and I can say it's much faster than ics passion v13 was running for me. Passion was getting really slow, call quality was awful, and everything would crash. Now it's running very smooth, call quality is what it's supposed to be. My only complaint is I can't add widgets to my home screen without the launcher crashing. Not sure what's going on here, anyone have this issue. It's particularly with beautiful widgets?
Edit: I followed this post and got it working:
There is a way but it's little complex...
1. You need to download a root explorer (I use ES File explorer).
2. You need to use the explorer and locate the "Launcher2.apk" in data/app/ folder
3. You then need to move the apk from data/app/ folder and put it into system/app/ folder
4. Make sure the launcher your currently using doesn't have default on (if using different launcher)
5. Reboot your phone, choose CNDlauncher, and BAM! you can now use CNDlauncher to add widgets from the app/widget drawer.
Hope this helps!

For me, Chimera is flawless. I came from ICS Passion 13.1 and suffered from poor call quality and lagging. With Chimera and the Heart V2 kernel, everything is working great and my phone is the fastest its ever been. Also, my battery life is awesome too. I am going to try the new kernel that fixes the GPS after DS issue and see how that works.

For me, there are only 3 problems with the current CM10, and I'm flashing it since Preview #2.
1 - HW Composer not fully working, causing minor hiccups on animations and scrolling
2 - FM Radio not working properly
3 - Memory leak after a time using it (you have to reboot the phone daily)
That's all, but in my opinion, it's WAYYYY better than ICS already.
Thx for the input. From the way it sounds me thinks ill go cm10 later tonight!

Camera is just fine.
I'm asking myself that question, too. I stuck with sammy rom right now but I want to change to cm10 as soon as possible. The cm10 releases are "experimental" at the moment, which says to me to not use it as daily driver.
I don't find cm10 any smoother or faster than stock sammy based roms but I find it much cooler esp. the theme chooser is awesome. cm10, apex launcher and aosp sammy camera is an awesome combination. I would stuck which that if a stable release of cm10 would be right around the corner and just like you I don't know if the rom is very early or as good as ready

Not sure if any of you have run into this yet, but I am using Pocket Casts to listen to netcasts, when I shut off the screen everything keeps playing fine, however when I turn back on the screen the phone soft reboots. Does it at the same spot every time. I tried moving the netcasts to the sdcard instead of external sd as a test. Still does it...
This happens to me on both the Aug 8th and 9th build from DAGr8, But does not happen on any of the other JB previews builds. And Yes, I wiped everything
I use my phone in the car for netcast listening a ton, so this is something that keeps me from using this daily unfortunately.
Other than that, everything else seems to run great. just seems like an odd thing to reboot the phone, maybe it has something to do with the audio players and how they interact with the lock screen as they like to put up a player wallpaper thing on the lock screen...
Thanks for the Q&A!!
I can not get google now working. It hangs on initializing then cant connect. I know on jamies cm10hybrid/ jb we needed the internal kernel....DAGr8 Do you think that kernel would solve the prob? Im not sure if you use Gnow....or if you recommend using a diff kernel...( going to re read op now too)

The hotwire-internal kernel should work fine with DAG's JB rom, not sure if it'll fix your issue or not, but should be easy to test. But I don't see a kernel package from DAG if you wanted to flash back...
I prefer the hotwire-internal kernel myself as it has BLN support where as the R5S1 included with this rom i think does not? if that's important to you...

I can not get google now working. It hangs on initializing then cant connect. I know on jamies cm10hybrid/ jb we needed the internal kernel....DAGr8 Do you think that kernel would solve the prob? Im not sure if you use Gnow....or if you recommend using a diff kernel...( going to re read op now too)
Thank you so much for AOKP!

I'm also seeing that behavior with Google Now. Regardless, I'm loving this ROM. So glad to see a JB build of AOKP!

Excellent observation! I would like to know this too. Ill just flash it anyway. What could go wrong? lol. Also sometimes the voice to text option doesnt connect. I think youre onto something here Rocket42.
I know we're not supposed to ask for ETA's and im not but does anyone know (in lamen's terms) the reason why camcorder doesnt work? Is it a compatibility issue cause JB is so new?

I think the issue is in the CM10 base - JB PA also has broken video at the moment.
Edit: I see JB PA dropped an update this morning and I didn't see reference to broken video on the OP. Maybe a matter of time? :fingers-crossed:
Lol tried the kernel and the Google now zips for ICS last night .neither worked hopefully build 2 works now

Loving the Aug 9th build except for a few issues (incl the Google Now referred to above) - the changelog states that "wake on volume" is built in but it neither works nor do I see a setting to turn it on like in other CM9/CM10. Do any of you have that?
On the kernel thing would we just flash the AOKP JB and then flash hotwire's internal.zip, then followed by JB Gapps?

I can't find that setting either.
As far as the flashing sequence, that should work although I did AOKP, JB GAPPS and just a few minutes ago flashed hotwire's internal. No issues to report.
I used to change kernels all the time on my Nexus, I would just flash the kernel whenever, no wiping. Can't hurt to wipe cache/dalvik, but no need to reflash the ROM.

Anyone know how to turn off the pen pointer? I tried the fix to edit the pen file but that didn't seem to work. Also, I am getting Process:system is not responding error. Any ideas on either of these?
Features and changelog?
I'm sure I will feel dumb when someone answers this but I could not find the feature list or changelog for JB. The AOKP site only references ICS milestone 6 as the latest. I tried following the links from the DEV thread and I tried a google search which led to rootzwiki but I didn't find anything for the Galaxy Note. I'd like to try this out but I'd first like to know what is/isn't working.
CPU Settings Do Not Stick
I have gone into the performance settings and I usually change my min frequency to 192 (max at 1566) and checked on "set on boot"- I have noticed that the frequencies do not stick at all but keep reverting to 384/1566 - does anyone else see this?
just wondering if anyone's gone back to ICS? I mean its not like we really need any 'performance boost'.. and with jb, we give up smoothness, and flash.. what do you guys think? that last ics release on omega is stable as **** lol. sometimes I wonder why I always mess with my phone when its working perfectly fine heh. I think the only thing jb brings is a expanded notification bar, and that Google Now thing, which looks cool and I feel all techie using it, but really does nothing for me but getting me all excited thinking i have friends thinking I have a notification ..
thoughts?

I'm running the latest JB Omega myself. Its very smooth, love the features especially the new multi window feature. Can't see any reason to go back to ICS

multiwindow whaaaa? tell me more
It's pretty cool, on the latest version of jellybean for the s3 you have multi window functionality. Basically I can have 2or more apps open simultaneously for instance browser, gallery and messages.
Indie is supposed to be releasing latest omega version tomorrow

Omega v33. multiwindow, but custom themes and mods from previous versions wont work (atleast based on the Q&A that indie posted)
EDIT: I'm still on v13.1 since i've been too busy to upgrade to jb to deal with changes at the moment (that and I want to make sure I get my "red" theme)

Flash player works fine with jelly bean. (you just have to install it from file rather than play store)

Think it's mentioned in one of the omega thread posts. I know he's definatly focusing on getting the mods working again
Can't wait.

booya. indie rocks!
1 single quirk... the thread title still has Noe instead of Nov... it quirks me every time I see it..
I'm just about to go back to ICS after weeks of battling with battery life on JB ROMs. I used to have 90% battery left after a day in the office on CheckROM v3.5. Now I'm lucky if I have 70% (with the same apps installed, the same sync/location settings and Google Now disabled). I've tried CheckROM v6, various Wanam Lite releases, AnonoROM, Omega and none can come close to matching the battery life I had with ICS.
Back to CheckROM v3.5 I think....

I agree with you about JB battery life being worse than ICS. But damn, if you finish your work day with 70% left, then what exactly is the problem?

Like I said it's 70% if I'm lucky, and have used the phone very little during the day. A few calls and I can easily finish with less than 40% to last an entire evening.

I'm going back to ICS this morning, just flashed LG1 and I'll apply the OTA LH9 update when I get the phone set up. I love JB, it's beautiful, but I hate watching the battery go down right before my very eyes after getting much better battery life on ICS.
