Hey guys, I noticed that my dads HTC has a normal lockscreen with sliders, then once you slide it asks for a pattern. I love having sliders, but I also want some security, is there any way to have the sliders like normal but once you slide you have to enter a pin or a pattern like on HTC roms?

There should be an option under advanced slim settings under lockscreen that says something like "insecured lockscreen" or something of the nature. It will allow the lockring to some up before the pattern/pin/password. I have been looking for a way to add this to stock 4.1.1 with no prevail.

You have to use a custom lockscreen app like WidgetLocker (available in the market).
I absolutely love the ripple effect unlock on the S3 - But I kinda hate the lockscreen itself (bad quality image for the wallpaper, ugly clock, non-customized icons for shortcuts, etc...).
Does anyone have any ideas on how I could either customize the S3 lockscreen and use my own clock widgets and/or icons OR somehow get the ripple effect unlock over to my WidgetLocker screen...?
I'd probably just prefer to use the ripple unlock in WidgetLocker.

Not sure on this, widgetlocker is great, but I find it causes wakelocks which isn't helpful. I just wish there was a way to what shortcuts show on the stock lockscreen, and wish it showed todays calendar appointments. That would make it pretty close to perfect without dealing with widgetlockers battery drain issue.
Fwiw, I notice that widget locker constantly asks for your location in the permissions log... Not widget related as I had nothing on the screen just a slider. Guessing that is what causes the wakelock'ing

You can change what shortcuts on lockscreen. Settings. Security. Lock screen options. Short cuts

Awesome, thanks for that.... Now if we could only get Calendar appointments to display, maybe a dev will work it out. Although probably just use the AOKP / CM lockscreen if that's the case when the time comes.
Install water drops plus from the play store and choose whichever wallpaper you like to put under the water and you can use it with widget locker.. Maybe add a transparent slider for now also... That's the best thing I can think of

Disable automatic drops in settings so it only ripples on touch unless yu like it automatic.. Just play around with it..

Heh i sent the author of WidgetLocker an email the other day talking about this very thing....
I not only like the ripple effect but the slider itself being able to be used from ANYWHERE on the screen is nice.
Usually WidgetLocker is very good about adding features and fixing issues in the past.. the only reason I can see him not being able to do something like this would be due to restrictions with the OS itself.
As for the suggestion on waterdrops.. that's great if you don't already use a LiveWallpaper If you use a Livewallpaper like I do, you cannot have 2 of them running at once (one for the lockscreen and one for the normal phone operation).
Hi there. I have a galaxy s3 since a mounth or two and i have a contact that i call 20 or 25 time per day.
I want to know if there is a HACK or a MOD to integrate a direct call shortcut to the original lockscreen of the S3.
Thanks
I'm not sure about a hack/mod for the stock lock screen - someone else will hopefully clue you in about that.
Failing that though you could replace the stock lock screen with Widgetlocker which will allow you to add custom shortcuts and widgets (such as a direct dial widget for instance) to the lock screen.

I know this is old topic but Samsung did no changes to solve the problem. I wanted to keep original lock screen and be able to launch shortcuts from it, so I wrote an app for it. Application can be mapped with any shortcut, so when you press app icon it works like pressing shortcut icon. Unfortunately there is no possibility to change app icons, so I put launcher icons with different numbers on it.
Application is called Shortcut Launcher. You can download it from Google Play.
And if you don't want to install stuff, you could just add a call contact widget on the homescreen, you would still have to unlock it but it's some steps quicker
You can also use the ROM SlimBean, it has the option to add widgets to the lockscreen
Is there a way to change the keypad, free up some space, add the current location's weather, etc? I'm not looking for adding the swipe lockscreen on top of the the pin lock. I just want the pin lock a little more appealing. I am on Sprint Samsung Galaxy S3 rooted.

I would recommend taking a look at the app WidgetLocker Locksceen, it allows you to add widgets to the lockscreen such as weather plus other customization options that you can use with a pin lock on the lockscreen.
So I am not sure if this is a General or App specific question.
Is there any way to enable lockscreen widgets in MIUI? It's sad that this a feature baked into Android 4.2+ but MIUI while giving us fantastic features decided to omit a feature baked into android. I have tried some of the third party lockscreen replacements but none of them seem to work too well with MIUI. Would love to have Dash clock/Chronus on my lockscreen.
there are issues that incorporate very handsome screen lock and can apply separately.

Lockscreen is "thf`s advanced weather lockscreen"
background screen
Qhile this is a great lock screen and I know MIUI has a ton of customizable lock screens. The one feature I am really missing is the ability to add custom widgets to lockscreen, specifically Chronus/Dash Clock.
