have you tried any battery calibration apps in the market? i believe you have to fully charge, then wipe your batterystats.bin (using an app from the market), then let it drain all the way. however, there are some posts out there saying battery calibration is a myth, but to each its own.

[Q] Batterystats.bin

Anybody tried removing batterystats.bin to recalibrate the system on an Atrix?
I'm not seeing it where other threads have talked about it.
you cant find where the file is or not sure if you should do it?
You only generally wipe the battery stats when you flash a new rom.

Anyone try this on Synergy and can you use root explorer to install?
Seriously thx for posting this.
Confirmed working on Chogardjr3D v0.9 Mikrom
Downloaded to phone and copy/pasted using ES explorer (with root access). Had to do a battery pull, but it worked.

FYI If you have the new SDK remember that adb is in platform-tools folder now instead of tools.
Thank you! I seriously hated having to run an additional app to give me battery percentage in the status bar. This is much cleaner.
Im running the shOOTER rEWIND rom if it matters.
Thanks just a question tho, did OMJ left xda developers? I remember his work from the OG evo

He probably left xda?? I know some developers from the thunderbolt left as well and they open their own website, incredibledoes left too and he put some work for the evo one of the first one to get sense 2.0 working on evo last year, talk to him no too long ago and he said he was gonna develop for the 3d tho so I hope he does, I want to do a pool for myn that way he can develop for the evo 3d as well, js isn't developing or at least the last tweet I saw from him, and calkculin I have no idea, he got his son now so I guess he is putting more time with his family
If you don't have an Evo3d well you don't have an Evo3d
I've talked to calk over at the galaxy tab 10.1 forums. He's making some wicked stuff but he said the 3vo was a no go. Maybe GS2 for him

OMJ has been on PPCG for a while now. He still stops over at XDA from time to time, but he was over at PPCG for most of the time he had the Evo too, if memory serves me correctly.
Now that I have the percent in the battery icon, it is going to feel like the battery drains twice as fast, haha, because I will always be watching it...like an OCD. I think I'm better off without it..

That will work, but the method I always use is to wip battery stats and let the phone die, fully charge, and then let it die again. After that, the battery will be much better.
This actually does what Viper is talking about. All it does is simply delete the battery stats. Some say it helps, while some articles have said it does not help battery because the stats help tell the phone how to use the battery to its full potential. Personally, when I switched to Vipers rom I used this then emptied/charged it, froze sense and all bloatware through ViperMod (control?) and flashed the SBC kernel. It has been on for 4 hours now, with reddit and texting, and it is at 96%. That is ****ing amazing.
I taped 2 batteries together and they calibrate well, thanks.
Haha sorry about the typo guys and thanks for the advice ill try it when I come back from work tonight and see what happens.

Before wiping bat stats should the battery be at 100 or close to it (seems like stops at 99) and then wipe. Also should I do this with your stock rom first and then apply the test 5 sbc kernal or can i do it with the test kernal already installed?

The battery seemed to last longer after I let it charge for 2 hours past the time the LED turned green for 4 days.

Rooting photon worth it?

Ok I have had my photon for a few months now and I am coming from a evo and a hero before that. Those phones needed to be rooted to get the best out of them. I was looking around the development section and while I know there isn't a lot of roms, I just wanted to get everyone's opinion on rooting. I really have no need for wireless tether, and while I would like to remove some of the bloat, I just don't know if its worth it on this phone.
Just throwing it out there to get some input from other photon users.
Thanks guys
For me, it was worth it just to run an adblocker. That's all I use it for.
It's a very fast and easy process.
The photon runs great as it is, but like willysp said just the ability to use adfree makes it worth it.. and of course if you like modifying little things here and there to make the device more yours
And to me was actually the easiest device I have rooted thanks to the one click root script.
There's a couple of other ways to root it but that was the first I found.
I came from Hero and EVO as well. This phone is great as it is. No need to do anything else. I have to said beside Nokia, Motorola is the best phone in term of reception.
Which method did you use? Did you flash a rom after rooting or did you just keep it stock and just use ad blocker?

I root for adfree and LED's hack mainly but also quite a few other that I can't think of. Editing the build.prop is also a huge plus gotta have my GAMELOFT fix lol
You can use the one click method which takes 5 minutes.
One good reason to root is to use SetCPU, which easily doubles your battery life by letting the CPU slow down when not in use.
So what is the process? Root and then flash a custom recovery? I just need a step by step of what to do.completely forgot about setcpu. But don't you have to have a custom kernel in order to use setcpu?

That's incorrect.
SetCPU requires more than root. Needs a custom kernel, which requires unlocking. And we don't have a fully functioning unlocker.

Slowing down your CPU (underclocking) doesn't save any battery life, undervolting however does.
And yes a custom kernel is required to undervolt and to flash one we need to unlock the bootloader.

Isn't the bootloader unlocked, but 4G is borked?
The bootloader is perfectly fine, the 4g issue is because sprints security keys for wimax look at the bootloader state. Not even the official test phones have 4g.

Yes, it was leaked awhile ago.
If you want screen shots take a look at your phone now. Because there isn't much difference between this and 6.12.173. Nothing obvious anyways. I've been running it for awhile.
