"UMANO" is the best news apps for wildfire and other phones.
You select an article and this app will read it out for you. Its amazing, its fast and does exactly what it says.
Give it a try

It is in Staff's pick
yep, Umano is without any doubt, best app for catching up with the world.
I used it for a while. But I had to uninstall it because my data plan is limited.
But I recommend it to anyone looking for an innovative news app.
P.S. - Although, it not relevent to this thread, I think I should mention Flipboard. An app that is equally awesome as Umano. sadly it doesn't work well with Wildfire because of no GPU. but still awesome...

Hi
Glad you acknowledged this great app.
What's amazing is that it speaks out news and the voice quality is fine too. Also i was amazed that this app is compatible with wildfire which is a great thing.
Anyways it needs some improvements. E.g better news topics and minor bugs need to be fixed.
Not happy that Pulse news and Google Currents are not compatible. Have tried Flipboard a little but hasn't impressed me. But what i love is cm7 news and weather widget. Its amazing widget compatible for all roms. Must try.

Thanks for the heads up on CM7 widgets. As I'm still unrooted, looking forward to using them in the future.
And BBC news app is also great. it's pretty straight forward, no fancy features, but gets the job done.

I cleared the defaults to the launcher so that I could check out the vanilla launcher vs. Sense and it is super buggy. First, all of the apps are pushed over to the left so they are literally off the screen and the touch response is not working well. Is this just due to it not being optimized for the phone yet?
Sense is much improved, but I have always loved vanilla android. Let me know if anyone knows.
I just downloaded the free gingerbrad launcher from the market. It worked well!

I am using Launcher Pro Plus and it's great with this phone. Super fast.

Launcher Pro Plus FTW
Please try to keep dev clean. As for launcher, I installed adw ex. It works perfectly.
Belongs in Q&A. Keep the devs forum clean and read the forum rules before posting.

Yeah, I know. I wished we didnt need root to screenshot, thats what I meant
Is anyone else getting really bad lag on lpp opening up the app drawer? I've noticed this right as soon as I got the phone, I've been clearing up and had over 600MBs free and the lag has still been very noticeable to me.
I did notice a bit of lag there.
I'm switching back and forth between sense and lpp.
The new sense is really pretty but I miss scaling the widgets and customizing the bottom bar. I love the little 3d effects though...
This is a beautiful weather app for Android just released! Probably has some of the best graphics of any weather app.
Check it out in the market https://market.android.com/details?id=com.bellshare.beweather
Bellshare Alpha Tester!
MIUI ReVamPed/Glitch on my Vibrant
First mistake they made was charging the same price as Beautiful Widgets for a weather app.

Bought it. Ran it for a while and it FC and made my vibrant reboot. I uninstalled and got my refund. Not worth it. I like BW.

Looks a lot like Go Weather... which is free.
However, I like my beautiful widgets right now
I'd rather use Go Weather, which is free
I tried Goweather. It was ok but doesn't have near the function of BeWeather.

I appreciate your desire to pimp a product you're either the creator of, or a beta tester for, but given the sheer quantity of quality weather apps on the market, how do you/they justify charging $3.41 for their product? Beautiful Widgets is far more customizable and costs less, not to mention the plethora of other weather apps that are free and of a very high quality.

Lol, pimping? I don't think so and I wish I was the dev.
I've tried every weather app for android and this one has some of the best function.
Beautiful Widgets is exactly what it says. It should be customizable because their focus is the look. BeWeather is an actual weather app more like Palmary but with some other features.
There's no doubt they all have their positives and negatives. I was just posting it here in the apps section of the vibrant forum just like any other app.
Got a problem with that?

Are launchers good or bad? Because I want to use one so i can REALLY customize my sgs2, but I want to know some things first.
Do they drain a lot of battery?
Do they slow down the Sgs2 at all?
Have you had any bad experiences with them? (I don't mean weather you disliked them or not, I mean crashes, problems, etc.)
Thanks so much!
No...some launchers drain battery a lot especially 3d launchers...
Try go launcher ex

I have no interest in any other launcher besides Go. Using it for a month now, fantastic customisation options, and it DOESN'T drain any battery, I can bet it. Other than Go, Nemus Launcher is also there, but still needs a lot of improvement.
Oh, it will not slow down your device at all.
No they are good they don tdrain battery

Cool, but make sure you won't be able to use any 480x800 walls, which I hate.
I have apex launcher on my rezound and was wondering if there was any way to get the stock HTC widgets to work with it.. they don't even show up as options, I emailed the developer a week ago and didn't get an answer. Thanks for any help.
From my Rezound
Widgets only show up and can only be used on stock launcher.

Well that pretty much sucks
From my Rezound
The HTC widgets will not work with any launcher other than stock.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
And there's no workaround to this? No mods we can make to the launcher and/or the widgets?
None that I have ever hear of... I think because its so intertwined it would take a ton of work and effort to make them standalone

You can get Beautiful Widgets from the market and download skins that replicate the famous HTC clock widget, if that's the one you wanted. Not sure how to replicate any of the other ones though.

Android pro widgets has some good comparable widgets.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1576980 you can give this a shot. I don't think the animations work though.

Looking BW, it seems the current version is having some issues on the One X. I'll wait for those to be resolved first before downloading, but thanks for the tip!
