The Orange Hi 4G has the same problem, in that phones the bootloader only shows up when the boot or recovery boot are broken and the device isnt able to start the recovery mode.

I have the XT1022 Moto E model. I recently upgraded from Kitkat 4.4.4 to Lollipop 5.0.2 using an Indian retail version of the stock ROM (Condor retail version) and the adb sideload method on Ubuntu 14.04. The Lollipop update is working in excellent condition. However, I wanted to try the Paranoid Android ROM and tried to enter into the recovery mode for trying out the adb sideload method. However, what I found was that I cannot enter the recovery mode. I was able to do so for a few times after I installed the Lollipop update, but then I suddenly stopped being able to do so. The method I had been following was Power+Volume Down for 5 sec to enter the bootloader, select the recovery option, and press volume up for 15-20 sec and press and release the power key while holding down the volume up button.
I though that I might have wiped the stock recovery during the upgrade, so I wanted to unlock bootloader and install a TWRP custom recovery. However, I was unable to unlock the bootloader, as I am unable to connect fastboot mode in Ubuntu when the phone is in the bootloader/fastboot mode ($ fastboot devices command in Ubuntu terminal window showed no devices. When phone is on, $ adb devices shows that my phone is connected. Also, USB debugging is on).
Can anyone help me with this issue?

Have you tried running the fastboot commands as root to rule out this being caused by a permission issue?

Hi,
I am trying to see if I can spring an old Karbonn Titanium s2 back to life by installing a compatinble Cyanogen OS in it if I can find one.
I have ADB and FastBoot installed in my Windows 7 PC.
Now the problem I am facing is I just cant boot this damn thing into Fastboot mode.
So,When I do this
adb reboot bootloader
The phone simply reboots. Literally. Reboots.
On the other hand, commands like
adb reboot recovery
works just fine.
Its just the reboot bootloader command that isnt working, which is halting my endeavor at the very first step because I cant unlock a bootloader that is invisible and so I cant install a custom recovery in it.
Any Help??
Thanks in advance.
P.S: The device runs Android JB and is rooted.
Hi everyone,
I've trying to boot my lg d802 with custom rom into "bootloader mode"..
I tried using the adb command: "adb reboot bootloader" but it didn't work...
I also tried to reboot from recovery mode (I use twrp), but it didn't work as well
The phone keeps booting into normal mode (android)
Any ideas?!
Hi:
My unlocked bootloader SS2 phone got stucked in Download Mode after successfully installed/flashed AICP ROM
It booted once and when i rebooted to enter recovery got stucked. Tried pushing buttons combos but still stucked in Dmode.
Have no access to fastboot from Windows but can get limited access to fastboot in Debian: can flash several twrp recoveries, can flash
AICP ROM again but can not get fastboot oem commands working.
Can't enter to recovery because phone never turn off.
Tried also to come back to Nougat but can't enter recovery to flash ss2_old_bootloader.
I do not know what to do.
Any help?

I have the same problem. I tried to follow your advice, but fastboot in my PC doesn't recognize the parameter (all I get is fastboot help page).
Regards.
EDIT: reinstalled treble v3.1 via OST and it fixed the download mode issue.
thanks!

Maybe use other fastboot.
Sometimes you must enter:
Code:
fastboot --set-active=_a reboot
("_a" instead of "a")
BTW. My Aquos sometimes stuck in download mode after installing AICP.
I fixed this by entering:
Code:
adb shell
bootctl mark-boot-successful
Hello, i have the same exact problem. I tried to use adb program to fix this problem, but my laptop couldn't recognize my device. Any other solutions would be helpful. Thanks for your attention! (I'm a beginner in technology, so please forgive me)
