I've read that AT&T doesn't currently support the delivery report, so while I haven't seen the options, they are currently moot.

Yes, but I do not use AT & T network (I'm from Russia). I think there is a way to fix it. The hidden menu or somewhere else, like Hotspot.

Ah, I'm sorry I didn't think of that.
I believe it relies on the sms app you use.
Try an alternative like handcent or gosms.
Or maybe you could get the app from another version of the phone, one of the Canadian or global variants.
Not sure if they would have the option, but they might.
I'm on the Canadian jellybean v.3 though

Yeah, the AT&T ICS settings are a little less populated than that.
But that proves that other OG ROMS DO have the option.
Hi again)
As we know ATT SMS prog doesnt support delivery report.
So, can anybody share SMS prog from canadian version to raplace ATT SMSprog?
Thx.:good:
Delivery reports
Hi there,
The stock at&t messaging app is able to request delivery reports. Only, for some reason, this option gets lost sometimes, along with the notification led blinking for missed calls or sms. The solution that worked for me might help you as well, if you are rooted- If you have a system app. Remover or another app that makes it possible to get rid of system apps preinstalled in the phone. Each such application should have the option to back up every system app before uninstall. So, you backup your messaging app. - called lgmsg3.apk (or something like that I might not remember it precisely), then you uninstall it, reboot your device, and through the very same app. - system app remover, you hit restore app and choose the messaging application. It asks you whether it is a system app, you hit yes and here you go delivery reports (under settings, text messages) as well as led blinking for missed events are back!
Hi:
I just did what you said... no it does not work. The version of the software you use is 3.2.31??? The one I have is that and no... it does not work.
I appreciate your help on this if you have any new tip on this.
Thanks

I have searched the internet a few times over the last few weeks and find only the same old, dead threads with poor solutions or seemingly good solutions which have been pulled from the market (such as app called "missed call"), and nothing new, so here goes:
It is a documented Android phenomenon: we hear nothing when a text message comes in while we're on the phone. There is no LED so glancing at the phone from time to time (I use headset) doesn't cut it. I have to try to remember to wake the screen to check from time to time and sometimes I miss time-sensitive messages.
Are there any solutions that I have missed? I don't really want to go the route of BLN, or 3rd party SMS app; I may have to I know. But I do hope there is a way to make this shiny new top-notch device do a basic thing that has been accomplished by every device I have owned since this one

You did not say what exactly the solutions you tried, so I'm not sure if you already did this: go to Settings > Call > Call alert > Alerts on call and set it to sound, or any of your preferred settings.

Oddly enough, i never saw this before. I must have looked in the Sound settings menu 10 times. I'll try it out, thanks. If that fixes it, i wonder why it was off by default in the first place
Edit: It works, thank you.
You're welcome! I'm still very new to all this (android and the SGS2), so I'm looking around my phone, playing with it, trying to figure out things.
On a related note, do you know how to get custom alerts for text messages? I can't figure it out, and I doubt samsung took out that simple feature that's been around since I can remember.

I can see that, but I cannot use other ringtones besides what's pre-installed in the device. That is, if I want to use an MP3 music file as my SMS alert notification, I cannot add that file to the list of SMS alert notifications. Is it really like that?

Ah ok, so what you have to do is go in your "sd card" the built-in memory, not "external sd" and create a folder called "Audio". Inside here you make 3 more folders: "Alarms" "Notifications" & "Ringtones"
You put whatever you want for sms/email, etc in the Notifications folder, it should show up in the list for choosing your sms sound.
Thanks! It took me a while to get back to this thread (been really busy). It works!
Question... Since i use a aftermarket sms-mms messaging app (handcent)
Can i freeze the stock one using titanium backup without any issues? Or do i need to let it run be able to messages?

You leave the stock messaging alone, only thing that needs to be done is to turn off notifications in the stock messaging app.

If you had read through the menus in handcent's own options and read some on the developer's website, or read anything at all, ALL the 3rd party messaging apps tell you to ONLY turn off your stock notifications

a comment like that was unnecessary. I'm no novice or noob... It was just a simple question. I've always us non original messaging apps... My question was not HOW to use it or set it up... Its mainly to save space and remove duplicate messages from showing up in the original app along with the other.

You must be if you don't know by now that the way to avoid duplicate messages is to simply uncheck notifications... so you still haven't learned HOW to use AND set up even you STOCK messaging app, probably for LACK of reading

Hi Vinsane
Just ignore the likes of cdoxxx
Obviously this site has trolls that only respond to put others down. I agree with you. Her last response to you were not called for. I wish the moderators would begin alerting such snark-sharks when they respond in such a way.
Anyway, you should keep the original stock app intact. Most sms apps simply overlay the stock "engine" and basically "reformat" your sms messages in the manner the app you installed advertizes. I like sms classic whick reformats them into classic folder structures. But too few have downloaded it so far. Im waiting for more feedback on it before plunging.
Thanks for your post, I am glad im not the only one looking for a diff sms tool.

I've been using the stock messaging app for a long time now and love having the text popup for me. I've had sms popup installed and have used that, but was looking for any alternatives.
Recommendations? I'd prefer to keep my stock app and not use Handcent or gosms. Used them a long time ago and am not a fan anymore.

+1 for Glowfly for sure. Love that app, best Pop-up notification app I've found yet. Its not loaded with crap, has just the right features. and if you need more, check out the plugins/addons.
Problem with these third party pop-up apps is that they don't mark the messages as read in the native sms app. This is really a pain if you have a LED light on that notifies of a new text arrived. Even though you have already marked it as read in the pop-up, it's still necessary to go into the sms app and mark the message as read before the LED stops flashing. The devs should consider this as more and more phones have LED notifications as an option.

You sure? Glowfly has an option to mark as read when you click dismiss. I haven't played with Glowfly enough to know if that works though. Does that also mark as read if you reply using Glowflow?
I was thinking of using Glowfly as a popup with handcent behind it, but just seems easier to me to use just handcent and do all my messaging there, whether it be through their popup or their app.
turn off the notifications in the built in message app and use the ones in the 3rd party one. problem solved

you need to turn off notifications from your native sms app. also most popup solutions have an option to mark messages as read.
You should try out the app Notify Lite/Pro.

My bad, yeah i do have that file :S
i mean my SMS/MMS work fine its just that its not recorded in the call log since I downloaded the AOSP messaging app which replaced the default S3 messaging app
Before downloading it, it worked fine
I didn't mean look to see if you have the database. I meant open the database and look to see if your messages are recorded within it
Edit, you're saying that the SMS from within the messaging app arent appearing in your phone application / Call log? The SMS show in the SMS app?

Sorry bare with me, im still sort of new to android rooting. That's correct so all the SMS's i send and receive do not show up in the Call Log e.g. if I sent a SMS to you, it would not be in my call log/history but the Messaging app is perfectly functional.
Did you mean this? Theres too lines cut off in the picture which are :
Words_segdir
words_segments
Ah ok. No it wouldn't appear in the call log. You need the Samsung messaging app. The CM messaging app cannot interact with the Samsung phone app in the same way, as it's not coded to, unlike the Samsung messaging app.
Although the database in the screenshot is now irrelevant (as I mixed up what you meant), it was the "SMS" row in that table you screenshotted I want to check. But it doesnt matter now.
Ah crap.
Sorry another question, is there anyway to get the stock messaging app back so the logs work again? e.g can i flash the app and it'll be back to normal
Just take it out of a rom

Hey there!
I recently released an application to show the full text of messages that were shortened before.
It works by replacing the Notifications with Notifications from my app that use either "BigText" or Stacked format to show you the full text.

Be nice to be able to set the text font size in either stacked or big text.
Also, what about a left swipe that then shows all stacked cards fully opened out? I suggest this as if you have a lot stacked cards, it can be a pain to expand them.
Not sure about the Big Text option as it seems difficult to distinguish where one message ends and a new message begins.
Cheers.

Sorry guys! I just uploaded a fix.
Not sure how easy is it, or whether the app itself needs to do this, but is it possible to add 'reply' options to apps such as fb messenger, whatsapp, skype etc?
Unfortunately this is impossible, as there's no way to do this. The app developers from WhatsApp etc. have to implement it themselves.

Yeah, it’s updated to the last version. I’ve done the last update just three days ago.
I can read the full text, now. But only if there is one message. If they are more than one, I see only the beginning of them — few words. But thankfully I’ve finally got how to bypass the stacked messages’ issue with Wear Notifications.
A very useful and helpful APP.
Thanks!
