I recently bought an HTC Amaze 4G. Its currently Unlocked so it can be used with any GSM Carrier. But i want to root my phone, my question is, if i root my phone will the phone be locked? I'm not using T-mobile service, so if the phone gets locked i don't know if i will be able to use it on my current GSM carrier..
I'm really new to these kind of stuff, so any kind of help is very much appreciated. Please Please help.

Your phone will not be locked again, rooting does not affect it

I will be buying an Unlocked HTC EVO 3D from USA.
I wanted to know if it will work in INDIA with a Vodafone sim.
Will i have any problems with any features of the phone(since the phone is unlocked). And can i upgrade the the software i mean from android 2.2 to anything i want? Will it get locked again after upgrading? Can it get bricked?
I need urgent reply as my sister is coming from the US and she has to order an unlocked phone. Any suggestions are welcome.
Thank you

If it is a GSM EVO 3D and not a CDMA it will work with your sim.
I think it comes with 2.3, but you can always unlocked the bootloader and flash your own roms. Based on your question, I'm guessing you should not due to inexperience.
It should not relock if it unlocked, and any phone can be bricked if you do not know what you are doing.
Thanks a lot!!! I guess i will be buying the evo 3d gsm. P
Don't buy it from XDA member Jaywan
It should work but anyways you can always use the sim unlock method if it doesnt...

I would say make sure it is a generic gsm handset if not you could spend hours on the phone to the USA. Also don't know if it would be possible but try and check the IMEI with your service provider. I have spent many an hour explaining to people over the phone that there handset has no service because it's blacklisted.
hey,
is anyone aware of a method to remove SIM lock on an Amaze 4G without use of an Unlock code (basically I can't find any available at this time - phone was only released on the 4th on the Telus Network and I'm with Rogers).
if a method is possible with use of temp root please advise
thanks,
Trevor

I am also hoping this comes through. Wife wanted this phone (telus) but she's on contract with Rogers. Would be nice to use the temproot to do sim unlock!

Not possible. Sprint is a CDMA network. ATT is a GSM network.
That's what i thought. All good. Thank you.

Hey guys,
So I'm selling my Rezound to a T-Mobile user (my sister) and I want to get it ready for her to use. Currently, I have the 4.03.605.2 710RD software loaded on it, which I know makes it global capable. At this point, would I just need to flash a GSM and have her put in her T-Mobile SIM card? Or do I need to update to the new OTA software first? If so, is there an RUU for it?
Thanks for the help.

I don't think thats such a good idea especially if she uses the internet a lot because GSM users only get EDGE which is almost the slowest data connection.
Hey guys,
I just got my HTC One repaired from HTC and they have locked it back to the original career (AT&T) with "new imei". I have tried lots of vendors on ebay and even http://www.cellunlocker.net/ but so far no success.
Can someone please help me ?
Is there something i can do at software level ? I was reading and someone somewhere mentioned about .efs files but it was for Motorola Atrix. Please advise.

they didn't lock it up again you just got a new phone replacement... Call at&t and tell them that you had a HTC one from them unlocked and that you sent for repairs, the device you got it was a new one locked to the carrier and it is vital for your business to have it unlocked.

Was thinking to try that but would it make sense since I am in Canada and I was never AT&T customer. I bought the phone orginially from eBay which was locked to AT&T and i was able to get its unlock code. I was using it on fido for 5 months.
People have posted that this works on the htc one.
