No lag on EMA2. Did you do full wipes when you switch roms?

Besides a full wipe, did you do an advanced restore from recovery? Are you using dated titanium back ups?
Try a clean install and see if you still get the lags which you say you have and if you do then you'll know it isn't something you've put back into the rom, chances are it is something which has been restored.
Happens quite a lot but people seldom clean up their internal SD and use age old back ups which they're used to, which for a lot of the time is fine, but you can always have problems, especially from an advanced restore.

Hi,
I've recently upgraded from CheckROM HD 2.0 to 3.1.1 on and every thing seems to be runing great with the exception of the camera.
Whenever I open the camera I get a message pop up that says 'Not enough memory'. This occurs even straight after rebooting or even clearing the memory on the phone.
I have tried reflashing the ROM, installing the camera hack from the kitchen, wiping the cache and anything else I can think of. Anyone else have any ideas?
No such problems myself, i suggest you ask in the CheckRom thread instead of starting a new one.

Says I need more posts or something.
Anyway, don't think its nessecarily CheckROM now. Flashed back to CRR HD 2.0 and I'm still getting the same error.
Think I might have to do a full wipe which I was hoping to avoid. Time to see how good Sprite Backup and Ti Backup work I guess.

because he has just 3 posts. you need ten to be allowed to post into development section.
@ thread starter: reflash, maybe with factory reset? it's always good to wipe your device when you switch to another rom.
How embarrasing...
I was just starting to run some backups before doing a full wipe and got a message from Sprite saying it didn't have enough room to store a dropbox backup. Went and cleaned up my last few CWM backups and and some old ROMs and kernels. Just before I jumped into recovery mode I hit the camera and it works fine now. Seems to be that I had run out of space on my internal SD card.
Oh well, problem fixed. Flashing back to 3.1.1 now.
Thanks for the help anyways

I want to move from stock odex ROM to a deoxed version. I am currently running odex rooted stock OTA 1.22.651.3 (from xHaus). Can I flash the deodexed ROM over mine without wiping? I know that I can TI Backup all of my apps if I need to wipe, but it would be simpler to flash over if possible.
Thanks.

What's wrong with wiping and flashing if your apps are backed up? You will be in a world of hurt if you don't.......skies will fall, unicorns will die.....lol just force closes etc....so wipe .

There really is no reason not to wipe data when flashing a Rom. Really Bad idea not to.

Things like contact linking are a pain to get right. There isn't a major problem with wiping; I was just asking to try to save myself some trouble if it was possible.
Wipe it is.
if your wanting to save yourself some trouble then always do a factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik cache. just a good way of making sure you always get a clean install. thats what i always do. and especially if im home on my wifi cuz all my apps and such download in about 3-4 mins and ur good.

You're not saving yourself trouble, You're creating potential head aches in the future by not wiping. I always do a full wipe and I only use TB to restore a few apps like games that I don't want to lose data from. It takes a little longer but you'll have far less issues in the end. I'm convinced the majority of the issues people have in these rom threads are from just flashing without wiping anything and/or using TB to restore all apps + data.
A few days ago i put on Siyah neweset 5.0.1 kernel on my S2 and overclocked but my performance hasn't increased much so i'm gonna put Ressurection Remix ROM now but the first step on the guide says to format my phone and i hate loseing my things, is there anyway to keep my stuff on the new ROM D: ? I'm not sure what to do QQ i don't wanna screw this up, also i'm gonna make a few backups, cuz 1 isn't enough.
Over clocking doesn't increase performance per se.
You can use titanium backup to backup and restore your current apps. Use SMS backup+ for your texts and call lists.
Images, vids, music etc are unaffected by formatting via CWM.

If you want to switch to another ROM, I guess it's best to backup all your apps via Titanium Backup. As far as I remember, the list displays white apps, red ones and green ones. The red ones are system apps and you should backup them since they differ from ROM to ROM. The white ones are apps which you have installed on your phone (via Google Play...). The green entries are things like "Messages" "Phone call history" and stuff like that.. I guess you can backup them too.
You won't loose your contacts as long as they are stored on your googlemail-account. So no need to safe them.
Then just backup your current ROM via ClockworkMod (I guess one backup is enough :b - If you want to be 100% sure try to backup and right after it finished try to restore the backup. If it works (in 99,9% of all cases) you can just flash your new ROM - if it didn't work try to backup+restore again. As soon as you've got a working backup (I guess the first backup will be OK), flash the new ROM and restore the needed apps via Titanium Backup again. (Just download Titanium Backup right after flashing RR and you will be able to restore every single app again).
More and more ROM devs advise not to restore apps via Titanium Backup, but it always worked fine for me
Hope I helped you,
experience7

You dont need to format everything to install a Custom Rom. Just wipe data, cache and Dalvik cache(under advanced).

Don't be ridiculous.
What about something simple like "How to backup data before installing new rom?"
In any case you should have searched google or XDA first as there is plenty of topics on how to flash roms without losing data or how to backup all your apps/appdata etc.

I can't find the button to change tittle, it must be hidden under 3 layers of bedrock.
Anyway, i've been useing this rom since yesterday, it's awesome .. mostly
Some minor disadvantages, some things like Clock crash, won't update some things but that's normal.
My stock benchmark was 6800, now 6200 D:
Probably becouse the rom uses more RAM than stock.. Overall 8.7/10 <3
I'll keep testin.
EDIT: OH YEA! what were those "modems" it asked me when i was installing it?

Hello, s2 galllery just become unusable. How ? Well I connected device to the pc, copyed some photos to pc and then deleted some photos of s2 gallery from my computer with shift+delete. after that I disconnect device and guess what? Yes gallery and photo itself either lags alot even though its even less photos in the mobile than before or does not even start or says gallery is not respoding. Restarted device - did not help. deleted gallery data(cache) from applications section also did not help. I hope to find an answer without doing a factory reset.
for now it doesnt even start - says loading for ever

Did you do a safe disconnect of device?
Also, why does doing factory reset bother you? All you need to do is backup apps/appdata via Titanium Backup Pro, and SMS via SMS Backup, factory reset and restore backups and contacts will sync via google account. Its no big deal your not going to lose anything.
Also, why on earth call this a "major bug" when its completely obvious that it isnt otherwise it would be very common and well known about already. Plus you dont even bother to mention what ROM you're using, did you even check the roms thread? Or if stock did you contact Samsung?
I don't like factory resets either, I actually avoid them.

Well if everything works fine, Its not that your "avoiding it" its simply that you "dont need" to use it. So your original comment makes no sense.
Only time you need to wipe data is when moving to a new rom base/type, If you face issues or if you just want to do a clean install.

Avoiding it by not messing up with it. I could choose to go and play with things that will require a factory reset. I think I made that pretty clear, you just have to read it, think about it and read it again.
I'm good with semantics & semiotics, didn't I tell you that?
BTW, I flash with MO, it does the wipping itself.
Be good now.

And at what point did you make it "pretty clear" ?
Also what has Mobile Odin got to do with the price of fish? The wipe in question is in general if you have issues with a particular rom resulting in attempting to clear it by clearing non-default data/settings, Not about when wiping before/after first rom flash which is mostly for custom roms via CWM when its strongly advised unless moving up version of same rom. Since it ounds like you only use stock rom then you will very rarely come across teh need to use wipe.
Either way its not that your "avoiding" it, its simply that you have no "need" to use wipe in your circumstances because its not necessary.
Wiping data/factory reset is no big deal either way as the most important stuff can very easily be backed up and restored so if you have issues with system and cant resolve it then just backup everything and do wipe (and/or clean install of rom) and restore it back, simple.

Obviously you are talking to somebody who is very inexperienced with Android.
You can always download gallery apps from the play store. This would be along your lines of something you can do to fix it.
Also this is not a major bug!! Very very very minor at best!

Hi everyone,
I hope this question hasn't been asked before, but I used the search and got no results for it so I'm gonna ask anyway. My Galaxy SII (i9100g) is actually running on Cyanogenmod 10.1.3 with Clockworkmod as the recovery. I didn't want to upgrade earlier because I was waiting for a stable version of 11, but since the M builds are now going to be the most stable builds that will be out there I'd like to give it a try. However, since I can't upgrade OTA because I need new Gapps as well, I'll have to do a complete new installation. But I'm worried to loose all my data because of the necessary "Reset to factory settings" so is there any way I can save all my phones data (and I don't mean fotos, music, videos and stuff like that because I'm able to do that myself), I mean EVERYTHING from settings over wifi password over call lists and so on? Like I feel no difference between my phone now and my phone once it's upgraded to 11? Hope you understand what I mean, so a real copy of every little thing on my phone? I really hope so!
Looking forward to your help!

I think nobody's answering because the answer is you probably need to a complete wipe (format system, wipe data, cache, dalvik). You can TRY to preserve your data but more than likely you will have problems or boot loops of FCs. You need to realize you are changing the completed OS and everything is not compatible. Some stuff is such as contacts, calander, etc can be restored thru Google sync and you might be able to restore SMS with nandroid manager, but be ready to lose data. Make a nandroid backup in case you're not happy with kk. Personally, I feel its worth the time and effort to upgrade. KK is sooooo much better IMO...
@hawaiisteve
Thanks for your answer! I've never updated CM before and since there is no real guide online i have a lot of newbie questions I know I'm about to install a whole new OS, that's why I'm asking if I have to wipe everything. So there is no programm which saves all the app data, sms, video, fotos, contacts, system settings which I could use to restore all my data except for the OS part? Hard to imagine everyone here updating is setting up his or her phone up again because that takes alot of time and is a pain in the ***. If there is no programm capable of doing these things is there atleast one which "mirrors" my whole phone so I can just flash back to 10.1.3 I have right now together with all apps, sms and other data I have on my phone right now? So that I can notice no difference between the phone right now and the phone after 11 and then flashing to 10 again? Thank you for your help, it's really appreciated!

Do NOT restore system data. It will almost certainly cause issues.
