New to the site, watched the video and followed instructions and couldn't find a thread close to what I wish to do per sey.
So here is what I am trying to do.
Last October I had the Armageddon 4.2.1 ROM put on my S2 GT19100 and its been ok but I have a few problems with it like video recording and such and I have been waiting for the official 4.2.1 update to come out in the UK and it seems it has.
So I am not really all that savvy with rooting and such but I'd like to put the official 4.2.1 Firmware on my phone now and I could do with some comprehensive instructions on how to do so as in step by step.
Some help would REALLY be appreciated.
Thanks.
i think you are waiting for 4.1.2. 4.2.1 update is never announced for S2 by samsung!!!!!:silly:
if you want 4.2.1 go here CM10.1
but you have to do all that root business... or download Spain official 4.1.2 firmware from sammobile.com
4.1.2 and 4.2.1 both are different versions of Jelly Bean.
or the other unofficial (leaked version) - i think was Arg version of 4.1.2

My Galaxy S2 I9100 is from Singapore and has the baseband version : I9100DXLP9
But i can't seem or rather can't find the way to upgrade to 4.0.4 as most of the custom roms require the ICS 4.0.4. Any help?
If you want to upgrade to ICS, first go to http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/ and search for a GT-i9100 firmware. Then, learn how to use Odin (do a search around here) to flash the firmware onto your phone
I'm already on 4.0.3 ICS. Rooted with CF kernel. But most roms require 4.0.4 like cyanogen mod. I can't find any firmware for LP9 for the 4.0.4
If you want to use CM9, flash the Resurrection Edition in Odin, then flash Gapps & the latest CM9 nightly. All the instructions are on the first page of the CM9 discussion thread. I suggest you read the first page very carefully & follow the instructions to the letter.
Is there a way for me to upgrade the firmware to 4.0.4? I can't seem to find the firmware version for I9100DXLP9. Or possible to upgrade via flashing a 4.0.4 custom rom?
You seem to be asking how to upgrade to the official Samsung 4.0.4. Well, there isn't one. And you wouldn't need to in order to install a custom ROM that is 4.0.4.
Ahh right right.. thanks for clearing it up. So i'm on a 4.0.3 rooted all i have to do is flash CM9 Resurrection and upgrade to the nightly build from there?
That's what was just said. And that's why I didn't even mention Android version numbers in my post. Because they're irrelevant.

Follow this thread to install ICS on your phone:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36978884
Then follow JamieD's thread to install 4.2/CM 10.1.

That doesn't seem to answer my question though. Stock on my phone is T-Mobile ICS 4.04 and is the galaxy note made for T-Mobile.
*My problem is not being able to flash 4.2.2 ROMs (such as jelly beer 4.2.2 , etc.) Because it was made for AT&T i717.
The first link tells you how to "convert" your phone to at&t stock ICS by extracting and replacing the boot.IMG file, except you are doing the opposite ROMs. The second link is to the most current JB based ROM, but it looks like without a current boot.IMG from a T-Mobile ROM you are at a dead end.
So, in my opinion, you can't yet. I saw they have CM10 over there. What could a close-fitting CM10.1 have for you that a native CM10 doesn't have?

I've got this Galaxy S2 since a couple of years and back in 2012 I rooted it following the method in the video below
How to Root Galaxy S2! [NEW][i9100]
the device is on android 2.3.3 (GingerBread) and according to the guy who posted the youtube it is a super safe method and it is but now I decided I want to upgrade it with a customized ROM from your respectful GS2 section.
my questions are :
1- following the method above; is my device fully rooted and ready to be flashed and tweaked around?
2-if my device is ready to go;Would anyone kindly direct me to the page where I can find a guide/s on how to install the tools required on the device (gs2) to do the move from 2.3.3 -(because through my search here most what I found was going up from IcecreamSandwich +) -to the newest supported firmware ?
Thanks for the great work you guys doing to support android devices.

Should work fine. It would be an even safer to update to official jelly bean first before flashing a custom rom as you will face less issues this way.

Hi Guys,
I have an old rooted phone Galaxy S2 SGH-I777 v2.3.4 and would like to update it to the newest version possible. I am a noob when it comes to SmartPhones. Does anyone have a link with a comprehensive guide and a link to a latest stable ROM for this phone?
I've tried searching, but couldn't find any recent posts and a lot of old ones had broken links.
Thank you.
There is so little activity in the forums now that I don't check every day. Sorry for the delay in answering.
The latest stock firmware for this phone is I777UCMD8 which is Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. You can download this firmware from the Download Repository. You'll find it near the bottom of the page.
If you want a stable custom rom based on Samsung touchwiz firmware, the most likely candidates are SHOstock 3 v 4.0, and Cooked. If you have problems with download links, I can probably help.
As far as a guide, I can't suggest anything, but will be happy to guide you if you need it.
Hello,
I just updated my Galaxy Note2 firmware to 4.4.2 via kies, I want to get the latest cyanogenmod. What's the best guide to follow please cause there're quite number of them on google and they aren't similar..
Thanks,
