Hey guys I'm getting my new 2000mah battery tomorrow and I want to know some precautions. OK first - when I get it should I put it in the phone and use my phone until it drops to one percent and then recharge fully to 100? Or, should I charge the battery immediately after I get it (assuming it will be at like 50%). Thanks all

After 50% charge it over night (mobile off) . Use it till 50%, charge it over night (mobile off). Repeat it one more time. Than you can use it as usual.
That's how I do it. Read some technical information to know why.

Just wondering, how much did you pay for the battery?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Plug in battery, charge, use phone.
Profit.?
Modern batteries don't need any fancy charging regime. Just use it and charge it as you see fit. It will perform better once it's been used for a couple of weeks and had a few good full charges, but it is not required.
How much is this battery? And how many hours more do you get with it?
Bought it for like 40 bucks from Expansys and it will be here in 13 days lol. Also thanks for tips

Umm.. Be more specific. What are your CPU settings, how long does the screen light up and how bright, what you use the phone for. Don't just post stuff expecting us to guess.

I tried calibrating and I think it made it worst after 3 minutes of usage my battery went from 100% to 74%

Set your screen down to lowest brightness you can.
Turn off 3G if you are using it, turn off wifi and GPS when you don't need it.
Clean up your cache using the cache cleaners available on the market, they sometimes work for me.
Try to do this. Charge your phone until on the screen it says 100%. Now power off your phone and again plug it into the charger. In case the phone still shows its charging let it charge. Otherwise you are good to go.
Are you on the OC kernel? People have reported that using a few setting there can help increase battery life.
And yeah, try killing the background apps, ones that you truly don't need!
In the end face it, Ace has a lousy excuse of a battery

Ouch. That doesn't sound cool. Send it for support or get the battery replaced. Sounds like a really faulty one.

No battery can ever be fully charged. Over a period time, if a battery is charged 100% every time it could be damaged. So manufacturers generally limit the level the battery can be charged, around 95%. That's what I have heard.
As far as the above advice was concerned, I have come to notice that the charging sign tends to disappear and the battery shows 100% when charging, but once I turn off the phone and put it back to the charging, it shows that some charging is left to take place and proceeds to charge for some 5-10 mins more. First I thought must be calibrating error, but it was not, happened even after I calibrated.
Try it and see if that's the same case with you.
i had this problem with ice cream sunday 2, but once i flashed cm7.2 by axell it was fine!! i now have a charger at work because i like ice cream sunday tooo much
My cellphone have the same problem, but, instead of being 3 hours, my cellphone works by 5 or 6 hours. I use the CyanogenMod 7.1 Android 2.3.7 and my soluction is turn off all the conection features and when my cellphone stay at sleep mode, I use the EDGE network.
PS: If you can, decrease your brightness when you don't need the full brightness.
Hello sirs, I'm using the ICSunday 2 by Jusada and SlaidFastMod V2. My battery grow up to 8 hours of use, and at sleep, grow up to a day complete without use, and, using 3G. This is the solution.
Install SetCPU and configure it , your battery will last longer .
You could try to use battery calibration from the market

Calibrate your battery....cwm, wipe battery stats, reboot, drain battery to the point where your phone won't turn on, charge whilst phone is off, when your phone says its fully charged, remove charger and plug back in to make sure, power on, drain battery again and repeat the process from charging with the device off.
Do that around 4 times. And then maintain your battery by not charging everyday, run your battery completely dead around twice a week. Turn wifi/data off when not using it, auto brightness, bluetooth off, minimize the use of widgets and lwp

Thanks for being so informative. I will do all of that. Is there a chance my phone will screw it self by re calibrating via cmw?
Also I trust your word about draining the battery twice a week, but I'm also curious as to why I've read in some places that you shouldn't let your batt drop below 10%. Is there a specific reason or is it just a false piece of information ?

Reset the stats does no harm . Drain twice a week is pure bull****.

I think its alright! Yup its little slow but its fine! When I was having a stock S3, it used to take 2 + hrs for complete charging (0%-100%)
If you are not satisfied then you can change your charger!
Or if you are are rooted user then u can try by changing charging settings in your kernel(only if u have a custom kernel)!
Press thanks if it helped you! :silly:
Yea, no need to panic. Same here.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA Free mobile app
You could use a custom kernel modifing the charge settings but BE CAREFUL, could be dangerous for your battery if you will exaggerate
The older your battery is then the smaller it's capacity and the quicker it will charge. A brand new battery should take around 4 hours to charge, so your battery has lost 40% of it's original capacity -assuming your charger and internal charging circuit of the phone remain to spec.
