Hi Everyone,
Several questions for you. I have a Galaxy SIII i9300 and I'm
New to Android here, although I have had a few years with WM phones, this is all new to me. Been reading , reading and learning.
I would deeply appreciate it if someone would help me with these questions:
1.) Can someone please tell me where I can find what my alpha 3-digit country code is? (the codes as listed on SamMobile site) I already know about using *#1234# to find AP, PDA and CSC but not where to get these country codes.
2.) Where can I dl my country code's Stock firmware for backup? I've searched XDA forums but all that I've been able to find is Singapore Stock ROMs in the XDA forum. My particuliar stock ROM has an updated date of Jan 14, 2013, maybe this Stock ROM isn't available yet?
3.) If I dl the SamMobile firmware for my country code will it be compatable with the XDA forum's instructions for Newbys? (so that I can flash back my stock Rom either with SamMobile's Stock dl's or XDA's Stock ROMs? ), in other words is there a difference between flashing SamMobile's Stock ROMS and XDA member's posted Stock ROMs?
4.) Can I use ANY odin3 version or are the different versions that are ROM-specific? Will any Odin3 versions work equally well with any ROMs?
Any finally Thank You!, to all of you for your dedication and support and most importantly your help. - MobiManiacs
1. That's what CSC is
2. sammobile
3. yes
4. firmware IS a ROM, it'll replace the current one
I Need Some Clarification Please

Thank You for your response Glebun. I can't see your Thank You Button to hit as I have a piece of software running in the background that was designed to strip-out some of the html coding on all web-sites and I'm not certain that it can be temporarily turned off at this point. I will work on it. So I will have to say Thank you this way then.
I think i figured out some of my own questions, such as the first one, and I believe that I can find this answer by *#272* IMEI#. I would think it can only be found if my phone is rooted, as I tried on a Stock non-rooted phone and doesn't work.
On my question 2.) When I use SamMobile Stock ROM there are 2 files in the package, do I need the SS_ DL.dll file AND the tar file for Odin?
On my question 3.) So what you are saying then is that there is no difference if I use SamMobile's Stock ROM or the same CSC ROM posted by a XDA member? SamMobile ROM and XDA posted ROM are the same then?
On my question 4.) So can I use ANY version of Odin3?. There are many versions of Odin3 available.
Again,
Thanks

2) You need the .tar file to flash via Odin
3) There is no difference, if it is the original ROM, nevertheless some original ROMs here on XDA are for instance pre-rooted, the thread should tell you anyway
4) I guess the newest version should work? Have a look in the Odin How-To threads
How Do You Now Get The Country Code Now That It's Blocked?

I appreciate your clarification Chrismast.
I read somewhere that the *#272*IMEI# has been blocked by Samsung on the latest firmware updates. Can anyone confirm this? If this is true then how can we know the 3-digit alpha country code of our current stock ROM? Is there a fix or safe file to apply, or maybe another method?
So any luck on this one. I have searched all over and still can't find an answer. Did you ever figure out how to find the country code. Here in South Africa there are three options. South Africa - XFA, South Africa - XFE and South Africa - XFV. Would be awesome to know where to find the code for my phone.
Did you try to dial *#1234#?
It works on my i9305....
That gives me all other info but not the 3 digit code after the country.
Anyway seems I answered my own question. Decided to install kies. Something I have almost never used. Seems when you install KIES and connect your device it gives you all the info and the 3 digit code you see after the country on Sammobile.

Where do i get Stock Rom for 1und1 Germany or Stock German rom and how do i install it?
which is the right firmware to download. i dont get it which one is the right one and which one is the newest to use for german language
i got these information from my rom XXKI4, KJ1
Get carrier-specific firmware here or if your carrier isn't listed in that thread get country-specific firmware here. You could also use Checkfus (do a search on here) to get the latest firmware available for your carrier that you'd normally get via Kies.
thanks a lot, but i dont know which one of the country specific is the newest and right one for me. Can you help me out?
Looks like there's only one available in Intratech's official carrier firmware thread for O2 Germany (XWKI1), Checkfus says KI8 is available for O2 Germany (Dated: 22/11/11) assuming you have a I9100 (check the sticker under your battery to make doubly sure.
I don't know which one is more recent as Intra's firmwares don't have dates on them, but I'm guessing the KI8 available thru Checkfus is more recent as this would also be available via Kies. I don't think it will make a great deal of difference which one you use at the end of the day given you don't seem to know which firmware you had on your phone originally. Either will work just fine with your phone I would imagine, provided you definitely have a I9100 or I9100T
Up to you which one you use.

Howdy.
Hoping some one can direct me to a working unbranded firmware for SG2.
I have obtained one listed at Sammobile:
I9100XWLP8_I9100XSALP4_XSA
4.0.3 2012 April I9100XSALP4 Australia
But it is not in english (I think it's polish or something) and just crashes the phone so another working one would be more useful I think.
If anyone could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.
Also, assuming a working firmware exists, is it likely that the phone will stop crashing on start up or is something else likely to be causing this problem. Thanks.

1. Wrong forum
2. Flash this firmware, it's the newest unbranded one and contains all the languages.
Thanks for that. I can't find a link on the web page to down load the firmware.
You can get I9100XWLP8/I9100XSALP4/I9100XXLPS/I9100XWLP8 which is unbranded AU stock ICS from Checkfus. Search for the PC version on here/Google. Then choose Android/I9100/Australia GT-I9100LKJXSA in the pulldown boxes. On the left hand side it will populate the product code/PDA/CSC/phone fields, then click 'check firmware'. This will give you the the details I mentioned in the first line.
From there, click 'download' & it will download/decrypt an Odin flashable firmware package you can flash following the usual instructions for flashing firmware with Odin (put the package you download in the PDA section of Odin).
Thanks for that,
Does anyone have a straight link to a download please. I'm not in a position to install software just to obtain a download.
Also can anyone advise why the device boots in to a non english language when loading Australian firmwares.
I have tried about 5 different "Unbranded australian firmwares" and they all boot in some language I can't work out. It's eastern european or something.
The phone must be in out of box state when these firmwares are loaded because it doesn't just boot up like when I first got it. There are a series of what appear to be questions I have to answer before the phone will start up. Then it crashes.
Also does anyone know why it would just crash on a new firmware that apparently eveyone else can use without problems. Is there something else I need to install apart from the firmware?
Do I need a kernel or something else with these firmwares?
Any useful help appreciated. Thanks
Does everyone have to read in those characters in the box before they have to post. I find it very difficult to read whats in the boxes. It takes 5 or 6 attempts before this forum accepts my codes.
I found a web site where you can lookup if there are firmwares available.
I'm not allowed to post it
its the home page for that checkfus program
Unfortunately there are none for Australia. Can anyone suggest a working set of droid OS downloads I can use to get this phone working again please?
Full wipe, flash stock ROM, it will be in English.
There are many stock roms for Australia at Sammobile.
You can also use check fus down loader
I am still trying to get a download for unbranded Aust stock ROM GTI9100. Sammobile does not recognise a search for this phone so maybe they no longer support it. I agree trying to get a simple download without having to join another site or get hit with malware is well nigh impossible it seems.
Hi @trebleguy , install this first .
The ROM contains all languages.

Hello,
I'm attempting to return my I9100 to stock so I can update via KIES as I wish to sell it, after rooting, flashing ICS, playing around for a month etc...
It was originally a T-mobile handset, I used checkfus to find the original stock ROM, and I've downloaded it, however, I cannot get hold of the stock kernel for love nor money! (I've googled it, found one apparent alternative source, but for some reason it wont boot using this and just keeps looping through the T-mobile branded load-up screen)
The kernel I'm after is the following:
UK
BOKE3:http://www.multiupload.com/GY05UJM6DQ
Firmware info: PDA:BOKE3|PHONE:BOKD1|CSC:TMUKE3
BOKE3 Stock Kernel: http://www.multiupload.com/I41CAJ2BLS
Password: [email protected]
From this thread:
[ROMS]Official i9100 carrier branded firmware download for Odin Flash
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113928
I've read the thread and checked both Sammobile and Samsung-update and neither has the BOKE3 Kernel.
If anyone has this, please, please could you upload it so I can return my handset to stock, I would really appreciate it.
Also, if I'm doing anything obviously wrong, please point me in the right direction, I am a n00b at this. (I've successfully reset my counter using triangle away, and flashed the ROM from checkfus, but KIES still says NO!)
Many thanks!
Luke
ps. I realise now I should have backed up my stock kernel and ROM before tweaking, stupid stupid stupid...
I stopped reading somewhere when you say you downloaded using checkfuS and now after a stock kernel.........
Buddy ROM package like you get from checkfus is whole thing including kernel.
Just flash the ROM using Odin.
But be sure its for i9100 if you have that.

Why don't you just download and flash latest ICS ROM with UK support?
Do you really need the branded version?
Just have a look at Intratech's other thread => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
I recommend XWLPD, as this has best balance between performance and battery life on my phone.
If you want to go bak to GB, then flash XWLA4, which was best GB ROM IMO.
Thank you so much atifsh!
I did wonder whether the firmware download from CheckFus included the kernel, but couldn't figure it out (I'm stupid, I know! I'm new at this stuff...)
It's definitely the i9100 (checked under battery), it's definitely a T-mobile UK handset (bought it from a T-mobile customer who provided the contract paperwork).
Last night I tried flashing the latest T-mobile firmware, but KIES didn't like it, so tried flashing the BOKE3 firmware (oldest T-mobile branded firmware) and it didn't like that either.
Someone mentioned that when flashing you need to add the firmware file to the CSC section of odin to reset the CSC code, is this correct? I normally only include it in the PDA section.
This may be the problem I'm having as when I check my CSC using *#272*IMEI# it only lists CPW (carphone warehouse) and not TMU (T-mobile). Does this make sense as to why KIES wouldn't recognise the firmware?
I really appreciate your input and help here. Many thanks!
Luke
Hi It_ler,
Thanks for the advice, I was running the latest ICS firmware from the official thread, however I've decided to sell the device and would like to restore it to stock so that whomever I sell it to can update it through the official methods if they so wish.
Hope that makes sense!
Luke
Remove Sim, remove external sdcard.
Put the firmware.md5 in pda
Put your phone in download mode
after flash and boot dial *2767*3855#
It will wipe your phone and hopefully fix your csc.
Atifsh,
Thank you SO much! You saved my bacon. It worked when I did the *2767*3855# reset, this fixed the CSC and then the phone could update via KIES.
I really appreciate you help,
Many thanks,
Luke
I'm entirely new to this so try to bear with me
I recently bought a Galaxy SII from a one day deals store and it arrived running Gingerbread 2.3.5. I want to update to the latest version available for the SII however the OTA update won't connect to the server and Kies (after at least two hours trying to get it to recognise my device) has told me that my current firmware can't be updated. Unless someone knows an obvious fix for Kies I guess I'm stuck with having to flash the new firmware using Odin. I'm using a guide on CNET (unfortunately I can't post links yet) that goes through installing ICS but replacing ICS with Jelly Bean.
The biggest problem is which firmware to get. My CSC code is OXA (Open Europe). Do I have to find firmware that matches that or can I just chose any one that I please then follow the guide that I'm using? I've been looking on SamMobile and there is a lot of different regions to chose from but none of them have the OXA CSC code and I don't know what to do. Also, is there anything I should look out for? I don't want to brick my phone.
Thanks in advance for your help. I'm sure it gets tiresome helping people like me.

There you go OXA It seems open Europe ended at 2.3.5 .. No wonder you can't update.. Anyway Poland's firmware should work just fine. Or just search the firmware of your own region. Do remember to do a factory reset after flashing JellyBean!
Alternately I recommend this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487 Its the latest firmware Samsung has to offer.

Thanks for the speedy reply. I think I understand now. The CSC is really only relevant to your current version. If I flash Jelly Bean from another region the CSC will just change to that region and still work as normal? Does it have any effect whatsoever on the function of the phone?

Yes CSC is bundled with the firmware. Dunno why but every time I flash a firmware it does not come with CSC and I must flash it manually.. Now that's a whole other story. If you plan on flashing a firmware not related to you region e.g you flash a European firmware while you stay in Asia then the CSC is quite pointless as kies won't let you update through it anyway. That said you must have the correct CSC/Firmware/Modem and region to recieve official updates through Kies. If not updating via Odin is good as well .

Well I live in New Zealand and the phone that I have has the European CSC code. The site that I got it from is called 1-day who claim to find the best prices from around the world in order to give ridiculously low prices. I assume that means that my phone came all the way over from Europe. Based on what you say then, I assume then that the CSC wouldn't matter in my case anyway as even stock, my CSC is in the wrong region?

Awesome, thanks for your help. I'm fine with just flashing it with Odin. I was planning to root it anyway. I'm just trying to find out as much as I can before I try.
I'm not a newbie to flashing ROMs but I am for flashing ROMs to my T820. I was following some instructions and something went horribly wrong. The ONLY thing I'm able to get into is the downloader (pwr+vol-dwn+home). I've gone through some threads about needing to re-flash stock image using Odin. So my question is, is re-falshing stock ROM the answer to this issue? And if so, where can I find a stock ROM for T820. I've looked through all kinds of threads and other sites looking for it and can't find it. I've tried using SamFirm but being as I can't get into my tablet I don't know the CSC/Region to use; and sidebar, it always says unauthorized anyway regardless of what region I put in the form. Does anyone have any advice to get me up and running? I started down this process because I had finally had it with the poor performance after a 2019 update and thought I'd try to give another ROM a try. Now I'd be happy to get back to my poor performing tablet.

Sorry to hear that.
A stock reflashing should help, but of course I can't guarantee that.
The original Samfirm isn't working any more.
You have to take samfirm_reborn0.3.6.2.
As you don't write where you're from I can't recommend a region.
Do you know this site: https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-tab-s3/firmware/#SM-T820 as well?

Here's question, does it matter what CSC I use? I get it probably has implications for the cell version (T825 I think?), but for the wifi version is it needed? Could I use any English firmware? The only CSC codes I could find related to USA were ones bound to a carrier. I also found a few "unknown" CSC codes. Any idea what those are for?
@gregchak by searching the net for you I've found these two:
List of Samsung Galaxy CSC Country Specific Product code and region they belong to
List of CSC Country Specific code for Samsung Galaxy & various countries, regions, network carriers, model numbers, variants phone belong to.
www.androidsage.com
Samsung CSC Codes List For All Countries | iHax
Here is the complete Samsung CSC Codes list of all the regions and carriers. The Samsung Country Sepcific Codes list should help you identify the right firmware for your device.
ihax.io
In the past I thought like you that it doesn't matter, but I've realized after searching there are differences in Wifi frequencies/channels in the world.
idk how much the CSC interacts with Wifi.
So it might be ok, but idk exactly.
Btw doesn't it say anything on the T820 packing.
Unfortunately the packaging has long since been thrown out. I bought this tablet about 3-4 years ago. I tried a few different CSC codes that might work. XAR is apparently what worked for me. I was able to get that image installed via Odin and I'm back up and running. I really appreciate your help!
I followed the documentation I could find for getting the CSC from the settings app on my tablet but it says to look for it under Settings -> About Tablet -> Software Information -> Service Provider Software Version section. I don't have such a section. Also, being a tablet, I can't use the phone dialer method either. Do you know what the method is to get the CSC from settings? Or is there another way?

You could try PhoneINFOsam or HW info, but they need root what you probably don't have any longer, or do you?
Imo as you flashed XAR that should be its CSC (now)
@gregchak and I just found/remembered that:
Download mode shows your original Country code, no matter what CSC you flash
btw. it may be helpful for others if you edit your thread title and add "solved"

Good point about the title. I edited as you mentioned.
I tried booting into download mode but I don't see any CSC codes noted there. It looks like what I posted pics attached to my original post. The documentation I had read previously said that it is noted in download mode under the carrier section. But since my tablet is WiFi only I don't have a carrier section displayed in download mode.
@gregchak I suspected that, but it might have worked.
Another chance is the serial number perhaps.
But as there will be no more OTA updates published by Samsung it's not really necessary to know the former CSC.
Btw the app PhoneInfoSAM is telling me the original CSC on my WIFI P900.
