What's the best GB ROM? - HTC Amaze 4G

I've decided that i've had enough of the problems/bugs with ICS and JB. The last time my phone worked great was when it was running GB. So what's the best one to get other than stock T-mobile?

Try them and see for yourself what works best for you.
This is thread # 3,927,638 on which rom is better and you will get the same answer here

Gingerbread?? Lol.. I would go with stock ICS before going back to GB.

With every ICS ROM I tried I had poor cell reception and awful battery life, even the stock T-Mobile one. JB is great but it doesnt work well for making phone calls and the lack of Flash is brutal. I've already searched for GB ROM's but it seems that the consensus is they're all bad and the good ones (Bulletproof, NRGY) arent available for download anymore.

I believe that one can use Flash on JB, it just has to be downloaded from the website (it is not available in the Play store).
My sister in law recently got an S3, and we had to go to the site to get flash.

Yeah I had to get an apk from the site for 4.0.4 ICS on my gs3 as well... Along with jb...
And I get the complaints about ICS on the amaze. I ran GB and ICS on my amaze and the cell reception and battery life are both significantly worse on ICS than GB. Same for jb compared to ICS on the S3. I liked sense 3.5 GB most on the amaze... But that was just my personal take

XDA TV??? Only porn for some
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2

Lol no porn. I cant watch any Youtube videos unless its within the Youtube app which is incredibly buggy and doesnt work half the time. When I click play on an embedded Youtube video it goes straight to the end and will not play. Oddly enough other video sites will often work if they dont use Flash like Vimeo.

Maybe I need another coffee before modding. Normally we close "best ROM" threads before they cause fights. Maybe you could change the name to "where can I find a GB ROM?"
Thank you,

Where can I find this GB ROM?
Does anyone know where I can download the Bulletproof ROM? All of the links are dead...

Or could you recommend/share a link to something that is similar? Thanks in advance.

Well, It's funny as I wanted to post the same. I tied pretty much every ROM here, ICS and JB. The worst offenders for me was BT on JB, even cm10 is no go. The other issue is the signals for both ics and JB alike. One time is three bars and then no service. Even someone with same service provider can still make calls standing beside me but I couldn't. Then in low signal areas, my phone would burn a hole in my pocket and battery would be dead in couple hours.
GB is pretty consistent in signals and no heating issues. Bt works fine too, so I am back with trusty old no frills GB. At least it works......
Sent from my HTC Amaze 4G using Tapatalk 2

After encountering even more bugs with the latest version of CM10 I finally broke down and installed QuickSense 3.0 which takes it all the way back to Android 2.3.4, but you know what? EVERYTHING works. The interface may not be a slick looking as ICS or JB but it really isnt much slower in comparison. For anyone else who is frustrated and just wants a working phone, try this ROM out.
I dont know if i'm allowed to post a link to it or not but you can find it easy enough by googling it.

I downloaded a bunch including the original ics rooted and deodexed by hasoon. But before going back stock tried speed Rom 1.4 and is been working fine. There is also Kumars 0.4 but haven't tried yet. I am good till we get a bug free cm.

So what are are thoughts about ICS so far?

From what I read, the leak isn't running quicker than meanrom. Personally I'm just going to wait for the official since I rely on roaming. What do you guys think about ICS so far?

I feel like ics is amazing and you're missing out on alot! Don't flash the firmware and you shouldn't have an issue with roaming, as far as I know. ICS has brought alot of nice improvements. I say flash it and just give it a try for yourself man.
I went from mean to clean and I love the Ics and sense 3.6 combination. Battery life is definitely better

Definitely an improvement, battery life seems to be better than almost any GB rom I had (aside from CM7 & og Anthrax RLS9). It's nice to have working ICS roms with WiMax though!
All I'm gonna say is I can never go back to Gingerbread!
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk 2
I have yet to mess around with the official ICS ROM due to my carrier not providing it yet. But from what I have seen it looks awesome and can't wait to test it out. I am currently playing with the ICS NonSense RC1 ROM by VladBelsky, I love the stock look and feel of ICS.
like ics. dislike sense 3.6. wish we had 4.0
I think people tend to exaggerate about how much better it is.
It's a definite improvement, but, if it had the same menus/look as GB.. You wouldn't really notice much difference. It's still worth using tho
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D using xda premium
It breathed new life into the Evo 3d. I still dislike sense but it will be enough to hold me over until the next Nexus.
Aside from my personal dislike of sense it does run great though. I wish they didn't ugly up the notification bar and change around the settings but for the most part sense doesn't detract from the ICS experience. Battery life is exceptional and it seems to perform better at stock clock speeds than any other rom I have used @ 1.7ghz.
I roamed a bit yesterday and don't seem to get data while I'm roaming but that could be an issue on my part or area.

I don't know about you but I was using newts sense 4 amazing and almost fully working in beta state...flashed a 3.6 and while it seemed a little faster its horrible compared to 4.. then I flashed back to gb and I already hate it...doesn't seem as smooth and seems "clunky" IMO

If you've flashed the virgin mobile firmware, thats why.
i haven't had much of an enjoyable experience so far, i don't really have signal issues unless you include occasional LoS but no notice in decrease of signal strength.
I'm mostly disappointed with the mobile network settings missing that would allow me to enable data roaming, i have flashed Chubbzlou's Booster but that begins to FC and have performance issues after a day or 2 with the annoyance of Bluetooth issues.
not to trash one ROM, they all so far have the same issues and i can't find one to make my daily.
i am looking forward to sense 3.6 as it looks really good and has some great features.
i will politely and contently await the sprint leak or the official release, hopefully the firmware release included with the sprint leak will fix my "virgin mobile" banner

Many devs are still ROMing for other phones and haven't journeyed to the LTE just yet.
only time will tell. And Ive flash just about all of the roms out now.

I will agree. My daily rom is MeanROM but I've tried them all and I think they're pretty much all the same. Only thing that's separating them are tweaks, they definitely all look the same. From what I hear the VenomRom will be the one that separates itself from the rest, when it gets released.

3- No Predictive Text in the keyboard. ( you'll have to use the ****ty SwiftKey for that.)

If you're on stock ics (the official release) and someone told u there are speed improvements they lied. Any custom rom easily blows stock out of the water. Stock ( even when rooted) is basically for people who want to play it safe and for things to just work. If u want customization and speed ur best bet is an AOSP based rom. Good luck. Happy flashing.

Mwakious has the biggest fanbase right now and can be considered as a good dev with a good rom, though I'm not quite happy with the battery drainage when the screen is on. Somebody else was complaining about the same issue, but again, every phone reacts differently, so maybe you won't even have that issue ukno..

Most of the roms have both cores enabled which will cause that battery issue.
IMO if you're going to go with an ICS ROM, Cool ICS is the best. No dual core nonsense, the right amount of tweaks, and just a good normal ROM.

Ugh not again.
First we need to know if you are GSM or CDMA.
And second, there is no "best" rom. All roms are created differently, for people with different wants and needs. And every rom will run differently on every phone. So just flash one, try it out for a day or two, and if you don't like it, try another.

Don't know if you were leaving it open to all, but I'll answer anyway. Rom is great, but in an effort to increase performance, the battery life isn't there for me. I think Mikey was in the process of balancing battery and performance when the lte came out. Since he is waiting until the ota to update, I'll try it again then.

Gotcha. I'm thinking maybe another kernel based on the just released ICS kernel source might enhance battery life and stability.

What ICS mod is considered the current leader? I'm looking to flash my phone with one, but I'm not even sure what Rom to begin with.

I am using the mikey's meanrom v2.4 and it has been real stable. I also used the zr3 rom, but it did not have polaris office build into it, and I needed that since I get emails with documents attached. Didn't see any reason to purchase something that is in the mean rom. The zr3 rom is more customized, where meanrom appears to be more stock to me, but that is just my opinion.
I had no performance issues with either.
Have fun!

You can copy the Polaris app from Mean to Zr3dx. I think all you have to do is take the apk, copy it to system/app, change the permissions to rw-r--r-- and reboot.

Need a stable ics rom

OK guys, I have finally gotten approval from my wife to root her rezound because she is on her 6th one and having issues. She has been saying no to rooting BC of small bugs in the roms I run.
Now that I have the approval, what is the most stable ics rom out? She likes sense mainly for the picture upload to Facebook. We both had cm7 for the Aria and she liked it... But I think that was because it was so stable. JB is out of the question because she takes/watches videos of/with our son everyday.
I haven't ran a sense rom in about six months now so I don't if the performance and battery life has gotten better either.
Thanks.

I have been using Nils' Business ICS 4.0.3 Sense 3.6 - for months and months....find it fast, stable and a great daily driver...i cant think of any issues at all...everything seems to work...well - even HDMI - works so well i haven't even been tempted to try anything else...
I use EclipticRez and it's smooth as butter and works great!
can u say which issues ?

If you referring to my wife's phone; GPS won't lock, slight over heating, proximity sensor is not showing far (using Chad's proximity sensor app). Just a few off the top of my head. Before this phone it was signal loss, reboots, etc.. I always told her if she was rooted I could fix a lot of the main things.

Tbh I would be calling Verizon again to get another replacement... Since those all seem to be hardware related issues, especially the overheating.
I still love CyanogenMod 9.

I have thought about calling Verizon, but I am tired of having to go through the whole troubleshooting thing.
I am not too worried about the overheating because I am sure it only happens when she is on it for long periods. She hasn't said anything about it always doing it.

To get to t2 right away just tell them that you've done battery pull, factory reset etc. Make sure that you get the point across to them that the phone is having hardware issues that cannot be resolved. You could be more dramatic about the over heating issue and they will take that seriously, as sadly is is a widespread known issue with the Rezzy. Chances are you will be able to get to Tier 2 within 5 minutes and another CLNR Rezound will be sent out to you.

Mine is running to 55 degree celscius last day. Im with venomrez 1.0.3
Sent From Rezound S-off rooted VenomRez ROM
Don't mess with the other roms. Just go with venom Rom. There's a reason it hasn't been updated in a year. Not a single bug, issue, or anything. The Rom is perfect. And if you use the developers kernel also (bamf kernel), you'll get about 40% bump in battery life
Trust me. Start with venom.

Can't go wrong with Ineffabilis Deus v1.2 if you want a Sense 3.6 rom (same as stock for the WAF). You do need to install the global RUU with it to update to the latest firmware but that's common with a lot of roms now.
Venom is Sense 4 based and also a good rom.

I put that on my Wife's Rez because she uses it for her business calls and she needed something super stable. She's been using it for months and has not had a complaint about it. She tethers to her laptop when she's out at meetings and loves it! Nils is the Man!
