[Q] No OS installed on HTC one X - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
due to being new to flashing custom ROMs i somehow managed to wipe my system, leaving me with my HTC One X stuck at the Bootloader (CWM 6.0.2.7)
I could change it to TWRP 2.4.1.0 if necessary

Since I'm pretty new to this, I dont quite know words like RUU, adb, etc.
I do have access to my Phone via Windows 7 if i mount the usb storage via recovery
I tried running a RUU.exe from androidfiles.org/ruu/?dir=Endeavor , the RADIO-2.1204.135.20 version, and ran it, but it says it cant run because its the wrong version. The troubleshooting option didnt help either.
Now i hope its possible to install the Stock ROM or any other ROM to get my phone working again.
I didnt make a backput before, so yeah, recovery doesnt seem possible.
Edit 1 : I installed CWM 6.0.2.7 and tried to make a full restore (seems like there was a backup) but now my phone just keeps restarting in a loop ...
Edit 2 : I downloaded cyanogen mod 10.1 as a *zip, and copied it to my sd card. then i flashed the boot.img, and installed the zip via recovery, but now the phone loops at the boot screen forever.
Please does someone know a solution ??

No worries, you can flash any ROM you want as you have an unlocked phone. Stock, CM, any custom ROM. These are the steps -
1. Download ROM zip. Extract boot.img from ROM.
2. Copy ROM zip to sdcard.
3. Boot into bootloader (hboot), do -
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
followed by
Code:
fastboot erase cache
4. Go to recovery from hboot, do a full wipe. Wipe all partitions that can be wiped i.e. system, factory reset/data. Factory reset also wipes cache and .android_secure, so you've wiped all partitions with these two.
5. Now flash ROM in recovery and reboot. Don't forget to download and flash gapps too if you want Google apps (most AOSP based ROMs like CM don't include them).
fastboot erase cache prevents bootloops and other problems on a fresh ROM flash. I don't think you did that before. You should be good now if you follow all the steps. Also, I'd rather recommend TWRP as it is the best recovery for the One X and many other devices. Read their changelogs and features, much more advanced than CWM. So before you do all this, download and flash the latest TWRP from http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/95
The reason the restore of your backup ended up in a bootloop is because you didn't flash boot.img before restoring. You have to do that for restoring backups too. Unfortunately it is this way because HTC gave us a crappy half unlocked bootloader (S-ON) which doesn't all low direct flashing of boot and recovery partitions. They should have given us a fully unlocked S-OFF bootloader. Anyway, if you want to restore your backup, first put your phone in recovery mode, connect your phone to computer, and mount USB storage in recovery. Now on your computer, go to the clockworkmod/backup folder in your internal memory, and copy boot.img from your backup folder. Now go into hboot, fastboot flash the boot.img and erase cache like I detailed above, then go back to recovery and restore your backup. It'll work then.
NOTE: CWM and TWRP backups are incompatible, so if you made a backup with a certain recovery, restore it using that same recovery. Then you can switch recoveries and make a fresh backup.
On a side note, asking in the HTC One X forum would have got you quicker replies.

You'll have to boot to TWRP and transfer a rom to the internal storage. If MTP mode doesn't work, or the version you are using does not support it, then you will have to use adb commands to transfer the rom zip. For some versions of TWRP, I have found that if MTP mode isn't working, you have to disable it before adb works. If you aren't able to do either one of those, then most likely it is a driver issue that you will need to address before proceeding. I find Win 7 works best with that generation of HTC phones.

its not working ..can u explain me in detail ..how can i do it

Too vague. What isn't working? What is the error message? What have you tried to resolve?

i am a noob, and now realise this.............
You must flash the correct boot.img from your custom rom in bootloader.
fastboot erase cache
fastboot flash boot (name).img
fastboot erase cache

ATT HOX+ half brick need some advice

Hello all,
recently got my new HOX+, i have unlocked the device bootloader then recovery flash and root.
after that i have flashed Elegancia rom with cwm and all went fine.
after flashing i decided to reflash the rom for some reasons that are not to be discussed here....
i booted into recovery and done the following as i was used to for my sgs before:
wipe cache
wipe data
wipe dalvik cache
then launched rom install, the install went fine no errors.
the phone rebooted and stuck on the htc quietly brilliant screen.
after that i tried to reboot into recovery but recovery wont start, i reflashed recovery and when it enters recovery now it says
some:
cache: cant open recovery log few lines like that
the adb interface works when the boot stops
the bootloader works
i already know i`m an idiot making those wipes so please try to not humiliate me any more
any idea anyone?

Akways flash the corresponding kernel when flashing a ROM
Dude your ok you just got to flash the kernel in h boot the boot.img has to be flashed through adb in the boot loader

When I try install RUU.exe on relocked bootloader, ive got "ERROR [131]: CUSTOMER ID ERROR", I tried with 3 different RUU's. [Q] Help!! HTC one x+ no os

Right here's the thing, my brother in law wishes to sell his HTC one x+, so he tried to restock the phone but for some reason he tried to install supersu and twrp 2.7.0.1 he told me that while twrp had installed his pc blue screened when installing supersu.. So now the phone will only go into bootloader mode, I've tired installing guru rest but the installation gets so far then jumps back to the recovery Screen, so I guess it's failed..
So basically the phone has no os installed, no back up or restore files. It only has twrp 2.7.0.1
I'm able to use hboot
I'm able to access twrp via recovery
I'm able to adb push files

look, is the recovery installed on your Phone
if not: go download fastboot drivers and the recovery
then on ur Phone go to fastboot mode plug it in it should show "fastboot usb"
then go to ur pc and go to command prompt
to the place where the fastboot drivers and the recovery is
then do "fastboot flash recovery name_of_your_recovery.img" without quotation marks
now you need to flash a kernel so download it
fastboot usb mode again
fastboot flash boot boot.img
try to boot the Phone
if it didnt work then go to the bootloader and select recovery
hit the power button...
then you should be in recovery then use the ADB sideload to load your files from the pc or usb otg or something :d

You either don't have the right recovery, correct roms. or you wiped the /system. Typically status 7 is from the updater-script checking the build.prop located in /system to see if you are trying to install it on the right device. I'm wondering about the recovery since not even your backup would restore. What was the error message when that happened?
But for me, I would try the version of Philz here:
http://androidforums.com/desire-601...stall-recovery-guide-htc-desire-601-zara.html
And still having the same trouble, and you know that the roms are the correct ones, you can try removing the asserts in the updater script like this:
http://www.androidgadgematic.com/2012/12/fix-custom-rom-installation-status-7.html
If you have wiped the /system, it might be easier to re-lock the bootloader and run the official RUU, if available.
If you do any of this and then manage to install the wrong rom, I claim no responsibility. Any mods are done at your own risk.
A friend of mine is in Zara Desire 601 too and we have a problem when we want to flash a .zip file. We have unblocked the bootloader on the HTC site and we would like now to achieve the root flashing a .zip file but when we copy the .zip file in the innternal memory we don't see it when we reboot in recovery (philz touch) the folder structure is not the same and we can't find our .zip file...Where we are wrong? thx!!!
