Lately my phone is taking anywhere from 10-20 seconds to start a call after I start it. I'm on stock Verizon ICS, rooted. It's only started doing in the last couple months and does it when using a contact shortcut or from a text. I'll hit the call button from the contact and it takes 15-20 seconds to actually begin the call. Any help or ideas would be great, I really don't want to have to do a complete wipe on my phone. Thanks
Mine did this the first time yesterday. I am on jb rom though.

Try restarting the phone...or wipe cache if you are rooted.

Mine always does it too. Always reboot my phone, still happens.

This has happened to me a couple of times as well, but while using the dialer. In fact, it happened today.
I dialed a number and it took almost 30 seconds before I heard it ringing.
Grabbed my wife's phone, dialed the same number, and it took 45 seconds to start ringing.
Called the number again, using landline. Almost instantaneous ring.
As Verizon is so happy to say "It's the network!"

Anyone else experiencing receiving multiple Sms messages. If so does anyone know how to fix it?
Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
Yes I have the same problem. Don't know the solution though. I got 5 of one sms and 3 of another today. Very annoying.

Is this happening from all contacts, or just a select few? If a select few, check to see if the messages coming from are from one carrier. I've had this happen to me a few times on another phone. The issue was from the other carrier, not much you can do anything about except report the issue to customer service. If you are on limited texting plan at least, otherwise ignore it.
It's from multiple carriers for me.

This has been happening to me a lot also. I have tried to do pretty much everything, but nothing has worked. I tried handcent's option to replace the stock messaging system, which only lead to me not receiving about 50% of texts. Hopefully someone has a fix for this? It's very annoying

Sorry bud, I can't parse your message here.
Yup same problem.. duplicate messages even with the stock app..
Call Verizon just for the purpose of them getting the message.
It's annoying when you get 6 messages.. I wonder if it's counting as multiple txt on the bill..

i would like to hope its doubtful that its costing extra as its mostly a problem of the phone pulling the messages multiple times, basically not ticking the "received" box on the server side of things. afterall, it is easier to count them as they pass through the network versus your phone counting and reporting back, not very efficient... mines kicked up again recently.. and yes rather annoying...
I noticed this too but it only happened after I used ATK more aggressively. I rebooted my phone and the messages stopped coming in repeatedly. Seems to have gone away now that I'm rooted. Hope that helps someone out there.

reboot, dial *228 (on Verizon) goes through the phone activation, problem solved.
Vzw tech said it could be the towers, or the phone... the only thing he was really sure about was that this fixed it.

Which option...1 or 2? I would assume #2.
I have done this FYI, it did not fix it.

Multi services?
Ok i intermitently have this same problem but noticed something interesting that may be related? I downloaded a startup manager program to see what was starting up on reboot yesterday and noticed there are 3 text message services running? Im assuming this may be the cause of multiple messages recieved so I have disabled 2 of the 3 instances and was still able to recieve sms but not sure if this will fix the issue or not
If you look that is the text msg app listening to different events, not 3 copies of it loading.
So since I've rooted and started flashing roms sms has been going crazy. Around midnight every night I have to reboot my phone because no phone calls will come in and no sms will come in outgoing works fine.
And the. When they do work I get each message about six times or more.
I use the stock sms and popup 7 and am running pkmn ROM any suggestions?

I had similar issues, and narrowed them down to my Airave. When I turn it off, the problem goes away (but reception gets worse, obviously).
Do you have an Airave in your house by chance?
This happened to me earlier this week. I had to exchange phones. Something must be going on!. Sprint could not fix it. I had to call my voice mail to get all my texts and calls to come in.!
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
I also had this issue, but it looks like it's my airave. Right now I can get text, but can't send any out while within range of my airave, unless I send it through Google voice. I think the signal emitted by the airave conflicts with the EVOLTEs antenna.

Glad to see I'm not the only one...its to late for me to exchange though

I ended up calling Sprint on that. The 2nd level tech said that Airave has been having issues on and off for a while, and they've been updating firmware on it pretty often, but he hasn't seen an improvement yet.
He had reset my Airave from his side (it does more than me hitting reset, according to him), and so far I'm not having this issue any more.
Well its been fine so far today after a couple of resets last night. I don't have an airave so I dont think that's my issue...hmmm

Maybe it's your network.... Maybe sprint is doing upgrades in your area.... Or they just have some issues in your area.
Here are some other opinions/ options
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1710324
So after working with Sprint with morning and messing with it all day I am at a lost and have taken to XDA to find the cure.
My LTE stopped working properly over the past, well ever since i got it actually, but ever since LTE went live in Chicago i have not been able to keep a mobile connection. I have been switching back and forth between my og EVO and my LTE. I went back to my LTE and long story short I can make calls and texts and the WiFi works but I have no mobile network. It shows the bars but has no 1x or 3g or 4g icon. I have had Sprint reset the phone and re-active it numerous times and still nothing. Anyone have an idea how to get it back? even by going through ##3828# ?
on a side note, when Sprint re-activated the phone and reset it when i booted the phone back on it did NOT do a hand free activation.
Please Help
EDIT: also it won't do Firmware, PRL, Profile updates....
Call Sprint. Have them update your profile manually. Reboot. Update prl and pri

I did, my phone will not update PRL or PRI, it just loads and loads. And Sprint never can help me I have called today.
I just got a glimpse of 3G!! So I opened Titanium Backup and i got this "message" (see attached) I clicked "restore the previous ID" and my 3G icon went on for about 10 seconds and then went away again and has not reappeared.
I am also having this problem as of today...just randomly happened....Just keeps "Looking for Service" wifi works, but nothing else does.....hmmmmmm
Mine though has no bars, just an x above the bars....won't call/text/anything....hmmmmm
Mine does this occasionally. Especially while using WiFi. X over signal, looking for service. I started a thread but didn't get a reply. For me, rebooting the phone restores the signal. It hasn't happened for a while so hopefully fixed itself somehow.

Rebooting does nothing for me though

Just got off the phone... all they wanted to do was a profile update. Data Profile reset and then a Factory Reset.
All of which I have tried before. Finally she told me I had to take it into a Sprint service center because their is something physically wrong with the phone because the hands free activation would never activate.
READ!!!!!! ----> She mentioned something under her breath that I don't think she wanted me to hear. She asked if I was in Illinois. When I said yes I am in the Chicago Suburb area she quietly said "oh.. there is an outage in your area" HMMMM Interesting.

You sir are a genius. First i went into ##3282## and entered my MSL and reset it there and then I went into ##786# and reset my phone. It took a while but finally booted back up and went to the Hands Free Activation. Mind you, I have had 5 different employees for Sprint attempt to get my phone to do the hands free activation and none of them could.

This was the issue on my end....I probably looked at the data profile 50 times in the last day trying to figure it out....Sprint, no help (they just want to reset everything)....the worse part is once I read this and saw mine was at 0, I almost knocked myself over because I couldn't believe I didn't see it earlier!...Thank You for making me look twice at that and caught my mistake!

Yeah, I'm using the correct version. I checked and everything. Odd thing is that yesterday it was working just fine. I woke up this morning and my signal would drop in and out like crazy and I would go for about 3 minutes without signal before I'd get a bar (usually i have 3 to 5)
Here are some pictures (not sure if it would help or not)

I'd run an RUU and see what it does, don't sweat the bars and if that doesn't fix it just give it a day or two. You can always run the RUU can call verizon and have them send you another SIM card.

Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
According to both Verizon and HTC, there was a known issue with the phone software and not being able to read the SIM card. It happened to mine about ten times every week until an update was released to supposedly fix it in February. I still get the error from time to time, but far less than I did previously. If you've rooted and flashed a ROM prior to February, I would suggest making a backup and restoring the phone back to stock. Once you've done this, do the update to the new firmware and then reroot and restore from your backup. This should, I think, fix most SIM issues.
So the past two days I have used my old galaxy nexus to play around with aosp again. Yesterday I put my SIM back into my DNA and I can't get 4g. I have installed different kernels, wiped EVERYTHING, refitted the SIM 1000 times and still nothing. Guess what? 4g works fine on the nexus. Also, when using an app that allows me to access the phone info screen, lte only option gives me 4g with no hiccups. But when I change back to anything else I can't get 4g.
New SIM?
I saw an old thread about it but not many answers.
EDIT: new SIM fixed it.
