I notice when I start to tether from my phone that it put my wifi on, on the phone. It is not use my data service on other devices. I have the gt-I9300, rooted and using wifi tether-treve mod, in setting I have @ samsung galaxy s3. what should I do.
Can't understand the question.
Please don't ask questions in General, Q&A is there for you
I am trying to use my I9300 to tether, I rooted and with that wifi tether app, nothing is working my other device ( I pad and nexus tab ) dose not locate the I9300. I don't know is it the setting on the app or the phone it self.
You need to ensure all devices are paired together to work properly

When you use the hotspot feature it turns wifi off. I f you think about it, it makes sense.
Wi-Fi tether app is turning my Wi-Fi on using my router service, instead of using the phone data service.

Enable mobile data & Wi-Fi tethering and please post a screenshot of the notification pulled down. Makes it easier for us to know what exactly is going on.

Here's how to get free wifi tethering for rooted users!
http://atrix4ghacks.com/atrix-4g-hacks/how-to-get-free-wifi-tether-on-your-atrix-4g/
Basically you just need to install the Android Wifi Tether app on your Atrix 4G using adb and that's it!
No need to mess with SQLlite or anything like that.
Just don't abuse it and download 50GB off bittorrent, I am sure AT&T will cut you off otherwise, this is a great method to not pay twice for the internet you are paying for already.
That's just ad-hoc tethering, with the apn hack its infrastructure tethering with is better.

Yes but you gotta pay to get it.

Pay??? I've been using mobile hotspot without paying for some time using this hack: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=980636
**Edit**
Oh, you mean pay for root explorer and SQLite.... well you should have those anyway if you're moding.

Or you could use this awesome little thing that Google gave us called ADB. No need to pay to tether. And this thread should be in themes and apps because there is nothing dev related in this thread.

i installed this now my wifi does not want to connect damn and my phone was running perfect before this apk WTF!!!!
What does this have to do with development? This should be in the Themes and Apps section.
moved to proper forum.
The easiest way to get free tethering is to simply change:
Code:
ro.mot.entitlement_check=[COLOR="red"]true[/COLOR]
to
Code:
ro.mot.entitlement_check=[COLOR="Red"]false[/COLOR]
in /system/build.prop
Save and Reboot.
With WiFi turned off turn on HotSpot.
Viola, no authentication check, no custom APN.

But with the apn hack they can "see" you are tethering because you take an extra hop. This was discussed in previous threads. Safer to use Barnacle, WiFi Tether, etc.

So you admit you are posting in the wrong section, yet you do it anyway? The feature you stumbled upon we have known about since launch.

The internet calling setting is not what does this. What you are experiencing is called SVDO, no settings for it. It just works.
The internet calling settings are for SIP calling, or VoIP.

+1 free thanks for everyone (not u op) b4 lock ...
OP...you knew better. This post didn't belong in Development. It's been moved to General. In the future, please post in the correct section. Thank you.
P.S. I'm not locking this thread. Doing that would not prevent it from being in the wrong section. Moving it to the right one was more effective.

I apologize in advance if this belongs in the Q&A section and not here.
There are a no. of apps out there for finding lost devices, but they would all prove useless if the thief disables the GPS.
So, is there any way to prevent GPS from being disabled?

I think it could belong in either, that's why I posted here, found it more suitable.

App doesn't matter.
Actually, I don't need the functionality of find lost phone + preventing gps from getting disabled in one app. They could [and probably would] be separate apps too. Or it also may not be an app at all, just some modification/tweak perhaps?

It depends on what they mean. Blackberrys require special data for bbm and other blackberry services this might be what they are talking about.
Thus no spoofing would help

Has anyone been able to get wifi Tethering to work for free? I remember there were mods for it on the Galaxy s3 and was wondering if there was anything similar on the Note 3

Wrong category, questions like these should be directed to the Q&A.
Yes, @mjcollum has a thread "[mod] mj4 native hotspot! {working} (odex/deodex)" in the development category.

Well he did.
Until the mods closed it for being a duplicate.
Even though the whole reason for mine was no one could find the other. And he hadn't made the mj oder file everyone was clamoring about.
Oh well.
It's still there and works though for anyone that needs it.

Unfortunately for me, when I tried it, and followed the instructions exactly, it would enable the switch, but the computer trying to connect with the phone could connect, but couldn't get out onto the net.
Portable Wi-Fi hotspot worked for me before rooting. I had to change the name of the shortcut to keep it working.
