Help!! Is my tablet a brick? - Sony Tablet S

So - I used the tool from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2050126
Everything went swimmingly, great, new version with guest mode, etc, etc. All happy times.
Then the battery drained.
Next boot, it hung after sign-in, before bringing up all home-screen widgets.
So - I (of course) hard-booted it.
Now, my brick hangs either at the sony logo or at the animation.
I can still boot into recovery mode.
I tried posting here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36870001&postcount=207
But have not had a single reply.
Any help at all gratefully received!
Condi, anyone, please help!!

If you could let me know how I can delete cache, data, etc, and reboot when I can't boot at all, I'd be most grateful?
I'm assuming maybe via adb in recovery mode?
(and by etc I assume you don't mean /etc -- if it's there -- as that would probably be disastrous!)

Then I have a Sony Tablet S stuck in bootloop which still makes it nothing more useful to me than a pretty, animated, paperweight.
Again - any help on how to recover from the bootloop would be great.

Meh, wrong forum.
Oh, by the way, all you need to do is get on recovery mode (volume up & down plus lock) and clear data/factory reset.

Worst case you might have to get into download mode and re-flash. I had a situation like yours that wouldn't let me get into recovery.
now i cant get it to charge, could a bad cable mess up the rooting process?

my name is travis. i like beer is good for you
Didn't we help you fix this problem before? Why are you still trying to flash the phone using Odin? When you got it fixed the first time it should of had CWM on it. After that you should of never used odin for flashing again. That is how you got the triangle again. I think the best bet for you is to find someone in your area that has experience with android phones and have them fix it for you.

We do like helping fellow geeks. The problem is that there is nothing we can tell you to do that is not already documented in the stickies. That is why I suggested you find someone local to you that can help you. Without physically having your phone in front of us, we can only speculate on what is going on.

Take it easy, OP. Learn your lesson. That's all you need.
Also, don't open more than one thread with the same content.
Have you followed step by step return to stock thread?
How far does it go?
ok i got it back to stock but now the wifi doesnt work
You really, really need to search for stuff. This is already discussed in a few threads. But to spoon feed you. Just got back into recovery and do a factory wipe. Should work fine afterwards.

No. your sdcard is fine.
What were you attempting to flash and what version of cwm recovery do you have?
P.S. In the future when you post about a failed flash please include the following information - what firmware you are currently running whether it is stock or one of the custom roms and which kernel you are running, and most importantly include what it is you are trying to flash - this will really help anyone who is going to try and help you out.

Flashed UCLE5 in Odin and stuck on boot scren

First I apologize because this should go in the development thread, but I don't have enough posts to post in there.
So I followed creepyncrawly's guide to flash UCLE Stock ICS with root. I was coming from Rootbox v2.2.
Unfortunately, I forgot to wipe before flashing. Also, before I removed the usb plug from the phone, ODIN read "Removed!".
And now the phone gets stuck at the AT&T load screen. I can't turn off the phone, except by removing the battery, it will simply reboot. I can get into download mode. I tried flashing again, but same issue.
Should I try wiping then flash again, or may this brick my phone?
Thank you in advance.

Yea I realized again wrong thread, but I can't move it. Sorry.
And are you sure that a wipe is a good idea? Creepyncrawl's post says not to wipe with that kernel installed due to the eMMC Superbrick Bug.

It may be helpful to someone else, if you were to explain how you fixed it.
Yes, it would indeed be quite helpful if you could elaborate... because this just happened to me and I'm stumped...
I followed the same exact procedure I've used other times without error...
Except that now, after LGNPST, then root, then freegee... go to restart the phone and it hangs... won't boot up. What gives?
I repeated the process and did a factory reset after LGNPST back to stock, since I noticed (oddly enough) that all my apps were still there after LGNPST (full, to 100%)...
Still no luck...
EDIT-- Can't for the life of me figure this effing thing out. LGNPSTed I don't know how many times... with factory reset, without... I've tried fully relocking and unrooting the device... both through the FreeGee app *and* manually through adb... no error mssgs, double-checked... everything followed to the letter. There's only one constant each time: Once I've re-unlocked the bootloader (either with the app or through adb)... the phone is basically softbricked... once I turn the power off, it is A) not possible to boot into the stock rom, B) not possible to access fastboot menu, and C) not possible to boot into recovery. The only thing it *is* possible to do is get into download mode... and from there I'd just have to LGNPST again, but what's the point, because once I've done that and tried to unlock again, I already know what's coming. Never been this frustrated with a phone before, any help would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT 2-- No luck. LGNPSTed to stock once more, and factory reset, because yet again, all my apps were still intact... idk. Anyways, decided to do some hunting around with adb, and "adb reboot recovery" produced an error screen... the android lying on his back with case open... am I to assume this means there is a problem with my recovery partition that could be causing my difficulties... or would one expect to see this screen when trying to access recovery on the stock phone?

Honestly I don't know how it was resolved. I lgpnsted and rooted and unlocked the bootloader like 5 times.I got into recovery a few times but then got the same problem two more times. The last time I got into recovery I managed to flash a custom kernel and everything was fine from then on. I just don't understand how this problem is caused or even how it is truly fixed.

There have been a small number of phones that will not unlock with standard freegee. They can be unlocked but it is riskier, you would need to talk to Shelnutt in irc.

Our phones successfully unlocked with freegee originally but some error caused us to lose access to the bootloader and corrupt whatever ROM we were on and then cause errors where we could use free gee but run into problems. In my situation the problem was resolved somehow and free gee worked fine afterwards

Just for the sake of documentation, I made a little log of my most recent attempt at getting back into the fastboot menu... obviously it's convoluted, but hey... sometimes experimentation gets results. This time, however, it did not... still no luck.
LGNPST back to stock
factory reset from settings->backups
run root exploit
restore original backups from first time freegeeing via adb using carrett's method
reboot
full unroot from SU app
factory reset
LGNPST to stock
re-run root exploit
reboot
re-unlock with freegee script (adb)
disconnect cable
reboot
(right here is the failure. after running "power off and reboot" from the power button menu, phone shuts off. it tries to start up, then i get a quick flash of the LG logo, straight to a backlit black screen that hangs indefinitely. only thing possible from here is to enter download mode.)
Back to the drawing board...

Just for documentation and in case I can help solving this, I am having the same problem, I explain my case with more detail on the FreeGree Thread, but pretty much I am on the same ship as you, I have tried after LGNPST, with and without factory reset, with the Google Play application and with the desktop application, but same result, black screen after restart.
I have a brand new phone, picked it less than a week ago, could LG have changed something? bootloader/recovery partition sizes? something?
I am still within the 14 days period and as much as I like the phone, if I can't bootloader unlock, means I will be stuck on stock ROM, and that is something I don't want... might as well go and change it for a different phone, or sell it and get a nexus 4...
I get same.thing. black screen after freegee. Its two days old. So now what!?

You might give some more info on what all you did or what file you were trying to flash....
Sounds like the problem of Gingerbread root on ICS system, or vice-versa. Just redo your work, ensuring you use the appropriate file for your system.
By the way, NEVER tweak your system until you learn to move important stuff to your external sd card or pc.

Really? I think the best advice was rangercaptain's advice followed by crixley. OP was using odin which means he was trying to install a rooted kernel most likely from a different android version or he was installing CWM. So I highly doubt he has CWM installed and functioning. So how is he going to boot into CWM??
Well I guess I thought he followed the proper instructions and installed cwm first. I admittedly skimmed most of the posts.

I have to chime in here...I have bricked mine, too, started with 4.0.1...I installed cwm-LATEST touch-i717, followed by openrecovery-twrp-2.2-sgh-i717-signed, ran fine. Then I was going to use Liquid-JB-v2.0-RC8-d2att.zip, but used the wrong gapps (Google Apps) file, gapps-jb-20120726-signed, instead of Liquid-JB-v2.0-RC8-gapps. Now, I have a black screen, and on my Mac, the thing just connects and reconnects all by itself! Can I get out of this, if I can't get to a restore screen?

You were going to flash the wrong Rom anyways d2att is s3. Would have bricked you right there if you flashed it. If you can't get to download mode or recovery you will most likely need jtag

Is that something one can do themselves? What is JTAG?

A JTAG is a recovery service offered for bricked phones. You can find one for your device at mobiletechvideos.com for 50$. Just Google android JTAG service. It will come up. Hit thanks

There has to be another answer...
When you find it, come back here and share it with us.
JTAG service costs $50, takes a week, and restores a phone that cannot enter recovery, or download mode, or isn't recognised by a computer.

MobileTechVideo Works

Just to chime in here... I just got my AT&T Note back from MobileTechVideo. I had them do a JTAG repair ($50) and ordered a new jig. They replied with fast, reliable service. I highly recommend them if you decide to send your phone out for repair.

Thanks, but I found someone a little more personal...when I approached them, they simply recommended that I send it to them, rather than try some basic troubleshooting... Maybe just the way they do things...lots of volume with MobileTechVideo...

It gets started only by wiping data/cache in recovery mode and if the screen is locked for once, it becomes unresponsive and shows only black screen. Please help.

I copied my stock framework-res.apk to the root directory and the phone started and it is working properly now. Bt now another problem has arise that Play Store is not working. The store opens up and functions well but nothing is getting downloaded.
I am going to Samsung Service Center today. Lets see what happens.
First Unroot your phone
Then all the best
