Okay I use twitter a lot and have around 39,000 followers and it makes it hard to keep up with everything. So I use listing to track important things, on iOS I used an app called Twitbird, and it keeps track of lists and searches in a similar way to an rss reader, and shows the number of updates per list along with mentions etc. Also when you enter the list it starts at the exact point you left off at so there's no wasted time scrolling through hundreds of updates just to scroll back up.
Now I have not been able to find an app like this for Android anywhere! So is there any that exist? How hard would it be to create one? Or am I pretty out of luck and will have to keep whipping out the old Iphone?
Sorry if this is in the wrong forum I'm rather new here.
Did you try tweetdeck? It does support lists.

Yes I did try tweetdeck but it doesn't support lists in the same manner of tracking how many tweets have been added to the list and it doesn't start you where you left off reading. It's very frustrating not being able to keep track of my twitter without the old Iphone, its inferior in every other way. There are is also another app that I used to use called "echofon" which didn't have the features I loved from Twitbird but it informed you of any mentions when your tweets where re-tweeted or favorited so when I paired the two together it was great.
I've tried adding my lists to a rss like Google Reader but twitter makes sure that's close to impossible -_-
Ok. I tried some apps, but none of them supports the functions you are looking for. Lists yes, but nothing else.
But since I read your first post...I have to say that I would like to have those features too as Im using twitter mainly for news.
So if you find something, please come back here and tell me about

Hey guys, just found a new app called Hovernote for $.99 in the playstore:
'It's simply a note app that hovers over whatever you're doing. In a world where it's necessary to launch a full-screen app on a ten inch device to jot down three words, Hovernote is a godsend. You can have multiple notes open, copy, paste and share from them, and even use the app on phones/tablets"
The more apps like these we get, the more I can appreciate what Android brings to the table!

Very cool. I can see how this would be massively helpful for studying and taking notes from e-books.

Hey, yeah its a great app. Will do!
Thank you mjlim for creating another floating app to add to my arsenal . I bought it instantly once coming across the android police article to show my support for more floating apps (hint: I buy all floating apps )
Woot! Another floating app bought.
Really useful app, and if they keep popping at those prices I'm gonna buy all of them ^^
Read the save locally feature is being worked on... the app is looking really neat. Great work

Currently, no. I might do one in the future, but for now you can purchase the app and try it out for about 10 minutes; Google Play has a 15-minute return window in which if you don't like an app, you can have your purchase refunded (more accurately, never charged) via a button on the app's page.
great app..just purchased
It's funny how I and another person who commented on the Android Police post about the floating app library were just hoping for someone to make a floating note taking app and a day or 2 after, there we have it!
Too cool. Bought it in a heartbeat. Thanks dev!
Got this app and I love it. I works over everything, video, office, browser. Swiftkey is active on it so spellcheck is also available. Nice.
To the author;
New features that I'd love to see. A widget instead of status bar notification and direct text file save.
Thanks!

Hi!
Just so you know, I released an update yesterday that includes:
text file read/write
window transparency
an option to turn off the notification that appears after you close the last note
I'm not too sure about using a widget, since you can only access those from the homescreen... maybe I could display a list of recently opened files in a widget eventually, though.
I've gotten some feedback on there being too many notifications, so I'll see if I can come up with some alternative means (configurable, because I don't want to force it on people) to select individual notes.

Really liking this app. Its nice being able to use this app and sending the notes to my regular note taking app. I'm liking the floating window apps that are starting to come out.

Love the app. There is a method to get it free out there but after 3-4 days (when I got paid), I bought it to support the dev.
One thing I would like to see is an option to set a default open/save location. I usually save mine to sdcard/notes/.

Thanks for buying it. I didn't include any of the licensing or antipiracy libraries because it would be inconvenient, and the app is open source anyway; I definitely appreciate your purchase!
In the last version hovernote now remembers the last folder you were in when you opened or saved a file, and that's the default next time you open the file picker.
Thanks for sharing this. Its exactly was I needed.

[MOD] [9/7/2012] AOSP Email attachment size 25MB from 5MB & ZIP restriction removed !
This will be my very first MOD I am posting.
After seeing how much cooler the AOSP Mail was over HTC Mail, and not to mention the extra security and certificates upgrades that the Exchange servers are going through. I decided to give it a spin.
My only let down was when i tried to attach a 8MB file, it FAILED and said that the attachment was too large..... WHAT A DEAL BREAKER.
Well, After doing some research I found out that the AOSP mail that has been out will only allow a 5MB attachment size.
I finally fixed the thing to allow up to 25MB of attachment size, b/c i was so frustrated with it, i did something about it and spent a lot of time hunting down things.
Below are three flashable zip files for your flashing pleasure.
AOSPMail_Exchange_25MB.zip is the modified AOSP with 25MB attachment size limit
OrigionalHTC_MAIL.zip will put back the original Mail.apk from HTC that came with the ICS Sense Global 3.6 - 4.03.605.2 update.
This one will assume that you flashed the AOSP mail with the Exchange.apk included in it. It will delete that Exchange.apk and put the original Mail.apk from HTC back in place.
AOSPMail_CM9_25MB.zip is the one for CM9 that was tested by someone to work with Kangs 9CM
Hope everyone enjoys and appreciates this ! I tested this out a couple of times on my Rezound and didn't have any issues using my hotmail account
A note about odex ROMS that are out there: You must delete Mail.odex in the \system\app folder to get this to work or you will get mail force close issues.
Any constructive feedback is appreciated! :good:
Don't forget to hit the thanks button if you like what i have done, and if you use my AOSP Mail.apk mod in your ROM please be sure to mention me.
Finally deciding to give back to the community in a small way at least; maybe a big one...
09/07/2012 - Added Mail for CM9 Kang with 25MB attachment limit.
12/16/2012 - Added the ability to download zip files now; zip restriction removed
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AOSPMail&Exchange_25MB.zip MD5= dbb284d509ba1b6f5510b0d45eac8cd6
OrigionalHTC_MAIL.zip MD5= af22722cb557d8f8d327bc22926f3d76
AOSPMail_CM9_25MB.zip MD5= ac59315de142f9066df5172ffd58c3ab
this could be extremely useful to those who even use the email app.
Doesn't work on cm9 kang. Force close all mail apps now. Can't open

Ok, it looks like the email for CM9 was modified in some way ( judging from file sizes, etc ) from the one that I modified,
I pulled out the email.apk from CM9 kang and made the necessary changes.
I need someone to test this for CM9 kang.
If this works I will post it in OP

The version in the zip replaces mail.apk in \system\app in case of NON CM9 roms ( sense base ),
insertcoin uses mail.apk so make sure you used the right one ( AOSPMail&Exchange_25MB.zip )
You could also use a program like root explorer to manually place the modified files in that location in system/app and set the permissions.
12/16/2012 - ZIP restriction removed
The zip restriction for downloading zip files has been removed

awesome email apk
does this bypass the exchange security measures? any or just PIN requirements? tried it and it doesnt but the email patcher does work.
the regular aosp didnt work with my jobs exchange server for whatever reason. i would get an error but the cm9 version did on my razr maxx(xt912)
its not often but when i do send larger files via email the only gripe i had has been relieved by your apk.
thanks a bunch.

well, i think that might be a little beyond me as far as removing those exchange security measures to be honest. This was/is my first mod.
I will look into it but i think i would require extensive code modification that i am just not familiar with at the moment.

kitkat 5mb attachment limit
Hello,
I modified "AttachmentInfo.java" and "AttachmentUtilities.java" from
android 4.4 source code, then I rebuild the "Email.apk" application.
The problem is that after all those source code modifications, the 5MB attachment restriction it is still there.
What other files need to be modified?
I got to look, but it's a smali file and there is literally one one change that needs to be done in the code to get it to go to 25mb attachment size.
For the world of me I don't know who is the fool that keeps building them like this. I don't know off the top of my head atm.
Once I look up my mod notes I will reply to you message so you see it in the notifications. If you would mind reply to my post I would appreciate it as it was a coincidence that I checked this thread.
Best regards

Hi,
Thank you for the reply!
Quote "For the world of me I don't know who is the fool that keeps building them like this."
I think that the AOSP Email App is crippled because, and I will continue with something I read it somewhere, Google wants the big files to be transferred using its services: Gmail with the Gmail App, Google Drive, etc. and while transferring them back and forth, gain a little insight on their content too.
If you find your old notes, this will ease the required work to make AOSP Email a good daily driver:
- attach as much as you like to your emails (the server knows better how much it wants to accept)
- attach any files, not only jpg and video (I am not such huge multimedia freak, I want normal email use too)
- save any attachment (including the "very dangerous" zip files wich are now forbidden to be saved...)
- maybe delete directly (after confirmation) instead of moving to Trash, and then having to delete them again...
There are only 2 threads on XDA about this problem, and now. thanks to you, I am close to an answer.

Does anyone know if it possible to enable Group Messaging on the default messaging app? I tried searching the forums and looking through all the settings, but can't seem to find anything. What I mean is having everything in One thread.
Just type several numbers/names and you're good to go. I don't know if the participants will end up in one "thread", or if they'll end up in their own though. I'm afraid you'll have to try it out yourself Please report back with the result, so we all know how it works.

"group messaging" as in one thread doesn't exist. They each come in on their own thread. Looking around a lot last night I did, however, find an app that I am using as a full alternative to the native messaging app. Unlike WhatsApp and all those others, this isn't a chat service or anything along those lines. It was built to switch from the default messenger. Has full group messaging and a bunch of features. Not to mention free. Would highly recommend. Or just put cyanogenmod!

hello guys
i made mistake and use textra for two year, well it was a better app than stock android 4.3 sms app,but yesterday i noticed new messaging app from Cyanogenmod 12.1 on my xperia sp is great! and then i noticed because i,m a flashoholic and play around with so much rom, i never backuped my messaging storage apart from textra,so then i backed up my messaging storage with SMS Backup & Restore app until i find i dont have my older ( 60000+) message from textra! so yea had a small search and find out textra sms is the only sms app that use its own database! [email protected]$#%^&%#%& !! and there is no way to get it on stock or any other sms app beside convert messaging.db from textra database.
i find this : https://github.com/sync-oz/convert-textra-db-to-xml
but i cant figure it out how to do it in windows 10 and i,m not expert on this kind of method
can you get me right and more specific Instructions from link above? or can you make a simple app with script that read textra database and convert it to xml?
can anybody save me from textra?
Nobody? Just a tip to how to do it?

I wouldn't know where to start with that even if I needed to.
I agree that trying that would probably just lead to more issues because you are crossing apps and crossing operating systems and the operating systems are different versions. Usually, an operating system doesn't like files that were saved or generated in another operating system and android versions don't like files from other android versions. Depending on the data that is from other systems, that system kind of "tags" it so that it knows that it was the one that created it and where it was saved to, that can cause issues due to partitioning differences between android versions.
Are the messages that important?

I have to agree. When I asked textra about it they stated that it was encrypted so only their app could read it.

I know what you saying, but textra app make me use its own app like forever, and thats not what i want! And database of textra is seprate from any system function, and if we convert it to xml it just can be readable for stock sms app in every other rom,
Just look at the app to know it better

Yeah, I'm sure its easily readable in a text editor, there is a difference in reading a .txt file in a text editor and viewing an actual text message.
But bringing those texts to a different app to view them is another story.
If you could convert as easily as you seem to think then why haven't you done it yet. You keep posting links that you think will make it possible but they aren't working for you yet, are they? Hmm...I wonder why? Maybe because it can't be done the way you are trying?
If you want your messages restored then try to do it with the Textra app....you know....where they actually came from to begin with...the app that is already capable of reading them? Do it the way its guaranteed to work instead of trying something that could potentially corrupt your device AND possibly corrupt the messages you are trying to recover, if you corrupt them in the attempt then they'll be gone for good and you will have wasted your time. I'm just saying go with what already works.
The second link in your post above me has numerous posts from users that keep saying that textra messages are tied to textra and can't be imported. The developer of Textra even states that it doesn't work. I'm sure the guy that created the app would know infinitely more about it than you do.
Give it up, you aren't gonna get those messages in a different text app. It just isn't going to work. You are not the first to have tried it.
Just take it as a lesson learned and move on, just keep this as a reminder to backup what you want to keep before flashing over it. Use SMS backup to backup/restore your Textra messages.

Chill out man, this is a helping community not a church, i need some help to get rid of textra but i needed my messages and i just asked from my freinds in xda to helping me,the guy who wrote that script its not around xda to answer my question.
Search it on google, you will find that can be done by having a right table, but i dont know what table i should use.

The evidence says no it won't work. I don't know everything but I'm sure the developers of Textra would know better than either one of us. That's all I really said, not in so many words but that was the point.

I dont say you are wrong, they say that, because there is no official way to do it, i need some developer's guide,if you know about somthing that i can learn from it just show me.
The developers of textra dont want to us leaving their app that because they design it this way to have a seprate database from android official messaging storage, but i want freedom, not to be chained to one app.. And Thank you for your answer

I'm thinking it is like trying to use two different languages, no matter how many words there are in the two languages, some things just won't translate no matter what you do. I really think you are wasting your time but that's your choice. I wish you luck.

So i done it, i searched alot(almost 1 week),read alot and at the end i learned to do it,i converted textra database to xml,and restored it to android stock messaging app and deleted textra app for ever. I just want to say next time try to help somebody, don't disappoint them, and do not say anything unless you know it all because nobody here on xda ask for wrong direction! Soon i will make a complete tutorial and post it in gerenal section.
Please do. I'm sure lot of people will be interested including me as I'm gonna try Textra for the first time. Before switching from stock messaging, I wanted to know if I can roll back easily and I ended up here and here : Textra... Beware!, and the confirmation from the developper here : How to get textra messages to appear in stock sms?. It seems it's not so easy by design.
So definetely I'll be interested in your tutorial.

I wouldn't hold your breath. I think he is full of bunk, personally. You don't come in here saying "I DID IT!" without a hint of how you did it, then say "I'll post how soon".
If he gave general steps, then someone could work with that. How hard would it be to type 3 or 4 more sentences? I'll believe it when I see it, which I'm not sure I will.
almost makes makes me want to download it to see for myself.
