[Q] What are the differences between Korean and Canadian JB - AT&T LG Optimus G

Would anyone who has flashed both the Korean and Canadian JB ROMs be willing to give some feedback on the differences between the two? Pros and cons of each? I'm tempted to flash one of these, but I'm not sure which one, and I'd like to hear from those of you who have tried both as to which one you prefer and why. Thanks.

The Canadian seems to be more stable all around for me, no force closes, SD working, cams working, and more updated than the Korean version.
Sent from my LG-E973 using Tapatalk 2

I personally liked the Canadian ROM better as well. The Korean one does have a really sweet backup app, but the feel of the Canadian ROM is better to me.
Sent from my LG-E970 using xda premium

I thought the Canadian one came from the Korean one but whatever. I've just flashed the Canadian one.
Anyways, like everyone is saying, the Canadian one works perfectly! Just a few notes though, good or bad, is that it adds a new feature called Qslide apps to the notification drop down menu, now it's nice to have but kind of in the way since it takes up quite a bit of space. Another thing is that it removes the circular screen off animation, which I miss. But overall the JB version is definitely snappier and updated.
Just make sure you get all the files you need to flash this puppy. Can get confusing but we're here to help.

The Canadian is not really Canadian. It's the international version. It's JB from the E975. And the current version is the Taiwan/Hong Kong E975 rom. Eventually the Australian one will be released as well.

Houstonnn's everything except BT works
As far as I can tell, everything works in the Houstonn's (Canadian/International) ROM. I don't think Rear camera works on Korean.
On Houstonn's ROM, Some people reported external SD card issues, but it works for me. However, I have Bluetooth headset problems. I can hear media, but audio from calls does not come through. Only start/stop sounds. Couple of other people reported the same issue, but no solution so far.

Motorola Elite Flip. It is even worse than I thought. I fiddled with a few test calls using bluetooth without success. After 2-3 calls, I lost the call audio completely i.e. in the handset, speaker, everything. Came back on reboot. Reproduced it again after few test calls. I am putting away my BT until there is a new update or new ROM.

Just an update on my b/t situation. it is 100% crystal clear....Used kernal tuner turn up the minimum frequency from the minimum 384 to around 500 or more. Just set a profile for when i plan on using b/t that will use the higher frequencies. Not sure why this fixes it, but love it now.
Thanks

This is the EVO LTE forums, so you might want to visit the M7 forums. Also, make sure the microphone in your bluetooth device is working properly. Are you using the bluetooth through a car, or an actual headset/earpiece?

Thanks for the forum tip. I am quite shaky on the use of the correct forum. Anyway the problem was solved by flashing a different kernel. 3.4.10-EliteLunar when combined with ViperOne 5.8.0 on my HTC ONE works fine now. Both myself an another person were NOT able to talk though the vehicle system, hands free. Now we can. Passing along that information even though it is not EVO LTE specific...maybe it might help someone.

Official International Firmware vs AT&T Firmware Thread

Now before I post my findings, note I'm comparing firmware and not specifically any ROM that is on either forum. After spending some time using both 1.29.401.13 and 1.26.502.10 I have noticed differences between the two. I know which are better threads are frowned upon, but I feel that having a thread like this would be helpful since we're in the rare situation where the International and US phones can use either firmware due to having the same hardware. All other thoughts are welcomed, but as always you're mileage may vary.
AT&T Base
- Touch sensitivity not that strong
- Data speeds are often double what I got in the same location as I had with an International base. One of my tests I got just over 10mbps down on HSPA+.
- Boomsound slightly louder with music player.
International Base
- Performance is slightly snappier
- Data Speeds not as fast
-Battery life slightly better.
-Camera quality is also better.
-Touch sensitivity improved
-Boomsound is slightly quieter but seems to be more refined.
All in all, I'm sticking with the International for the moment as it's positives to me out weigh it's negatives. Notice how I haven't posted benchmarks, because I believe in only testing real world usage. But, if anyone wants to do so you're more than welcomed.
Once 1.29 comes to the AT&T model, hopefully the differences between the two are pretty much nonexistent (with LTE on the AT&T model as a plus).
I also noticed the quieter boom sound, I'm on TrickDroid right now and thought something was wrong with my speakers, I like the att boom sound more.

I still haven't seen a definitive answer on this, I've heard people saying two things. If I have the AT&T branded 32GB, unlocked and rooted, etc, am I able to install the International stock ROM? Or any ROM from the International version for that matter. I'd like to try the international ROM, but I don't want a brick.
Not untill we have s-off. If the rom in the "international" section says its compatible it is. Once we have s-off we can flash the ruu for international i believe

Just to clarify....RUU and ROM are two separate things. Yes, you can flash an international ROM on your bootloader-unlocked ATT One. Flashing the RUU or actual Firmware (radios, etc.) is not recommended until we get S-Off.

So what exactly is necessary to get the 1.29 update with touch-sensitivity improvement released to non-carrier phones?
Did this update fixed the " Beats Audio" snap crackle and popping sounds while watching YouTube videos? This is the only flaw my phone has and I have 3 days left before my 14 days are up. I'm trying to decide whether to keep my phone or exchange it.
My phone is absolutely flawless and I don't get the popping sound with Beats Audio off, so I'm leaning towards keeping it.

Beats Audio is a gimmick, trash, marketing... It's boosting things pretty high causing you to hear the hissing, popping and such. I would suggest turning it off and installing PureXAudio, sounds much cleaner. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2211163
Seems network performance does degrade after a bit of use... very odd.
Can we flash international kernels? I'm thinking about trying out the one again but only if I can flash the kernel that turns the HTC to the menu button....

[Q] Distortion on bluetooth audio?

It appears that the HTC One stock ROMs suffer from the same bluetooth audio distortion that was plaguing the N4 and other AOSP 4.1.x and up ROMs until recently.
Can someone please test some mp3 audio that is:
- Local on their device, bitrate higher than 256kbps
- streaming to a set of good speakers that can reproduce high frequencies well
Play some Led Zeppelin or jazz that has lots of cymbal work, or some vocal music, and listen for distortion on the cymbal crashes or the 's' or 'ch' sounds.
I don't believe it is just me. HTC One Sprint users are reporting the same. I just want to make sure it isn't just them and my unit or something.

Sigh. 3 steps forward, 4 steps backwards (at least for me). That distortion is terribly grinding on the ears.
CM10.1 will save me! When it is released...
Just FYI, tested with AOSP CM10.1 ROM and the problem is gone. It's definitely a bug that exists in the stock Sense 5 ROM.
I thought I was the only one (no pun) with this issue. It's very annoying. I hope the stock version gets fixed soon.
Anyone with the recent sense updates have any improvement on this front?

I have a Sprint HTC One, but the Bluetooth problem is the only reason I keep going back to ViperROM from CM10.1. My Bluetooth (Jawbone ERA) works fine for music and other media sounds, but phone audio is completely messed up. My speech is not getting picked up at all, and the remote party sounds garbled. I also tried disabling the WiFi per your request, but that had zero effect. I went from a 5/27 nightly to 6/19, but the Bluetooth phone audio issue has remained.

Im sorry, I was seek, and about the question, I charge my phone with the original Batery charger and the correct volt I Think.
I'm having a similar problem with my AT&T LG Optimus G. I had been running the phone on houstonn's RootBox 7-20-2013 (4.2.2) build and most things worked alright (problems like NFC not working, randomizing Wifi MAC address on each boot, and poor battery life). Last night I tried flashing the latest Paranoid Android ROM 4.3.1 ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2228880 ) and everything seemed to work much better. NFC worked, Wifi MAC address would stay constant on reboots, and "Android OS" didn't use more power than the display. I just found out, though, that the mic and earpiece don't work during calls (though you can hear keytones when you dial a number during a call). When you put it on speaker or plug in a headset, then the mic works. I've tried wiping, reflashing, and updating the modem to 20j. Any idea how to fix this problem for 4.3.1?
A note: the phone had had the Nexus 4 conversion done to it previously and I returned it to stock before rerooting and flashing these roms. I think the Nexus 4 conversion messed with some of the advanced settings and they haven't been restored properly (hence the random Wifi MAC).

anyone know of a fix for this.
btw im on T-mobile if thats the reason this is broken
If software mods do not fix the issue, you will need to replace the charge port flex. The microphone for normal calls is at the bottom of the phone right next to the charge port. It is an easy fix once you get it open and taken apart. I have done a few already.

It is a hardware failure. The same thing happened to my girlfriend's LG G2 after a couple weeks and we had to return it. The second G2 she got has worked fine ever since.
But hey, that's the G2, not the Optimus G, so it maybe different. I've just noticed more than the normal amount of hardware failures on some LG models. My first LG Optimus G didn't get LTE, and (long story) after accidentally having the phone fall off the top of my car and shattering the back gorilla glass into a million pieces, I bought another LG Optimus G. The _second_ LGOG did get LTE right out of the box! Go figure! Same exact model, same carrier, even the same SIM. So there was obviously something wrong with the LTE radio of the first one right when I got it (I never returned it because I never actually read the specs to find I was supposed to be getting LTE all along, lol).
Fixed

Wifi Calling with Revolution HD?

Hi guys,
I have a T-Mobile HTC One and last night I unlocked, rooted, and flashed ARHD 30.0. I used to have the capability of Wifi calling, which T-Mobile offers for free. For those of you unfamiliar who may be familiar with a substitute, this feature allows users to call and text over Wifi, which is especially useful when service is unavailable.
Ever since I flashed the ROM, this feature doesn't show up in my settings. Does anyone know of a substitute that has the same or similar features? Also, does anyone know of the newest Revolution ROM that includes this capability? I'd like the newest possible ROM.
Thanks
I believe when T mobile release 4.3 for the One the devs will be able to include wifi calling in their ROMs. I don't know of any alternatives. 4.3 is supposed to go out on Monday so it shouldn't too much longer...
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
OK great. So you think it should be available in the next couple of weeks? Does Mike make these ROMs specifically for different carriers or is it a one ROM fits all kind of thing?
Also, if I flash a newer ROM, do I lose all my data on my phone? And if so, is there a way to backup and restore everything including my apps and settings?
I'm pretty new to this. Thanks for your help.
If you're on 4.1.2 right on you're going to get some annoying problems when first updating.
You'll most likely just want to do a complete wipe of your entire phone. (backup what you need)
There is a adb command you can run, check the trickdroid website there's a tutorial.
If we get an update Monday, Wi-Fi calling should be added relatively quickly to the existing ROMs. Like a day or two.

Ok great. Will the new Revolution HD ROM have a different version number? I just want to make sure I don't miss it. And when it is released, where will be the first place it will be announced? I'm very anxious to get my W-Fi calling back, since I have poor reception at school and work, but Wi-Fi is more readily available.

FYI, Insertcoin 5.0-5 incorporated the latest T-Mo update, and now has working Wi-fi calling on T-Mobile. ARHD will likely upgrade soon too, but these roms are somewhat similar and Insertcoin runs great. Here's a link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2279766
Hmm. I may have to try InsertCoin if Mike doesn't update his ROM. He just released a new version of ARHD (31.0) and it doesn't say anywhere that he's added WiFi calling. So I'm not sure if he is planning on doing it in the next couple of weeks or if he's just going to forget about it.

I bit the bullet and tried insert coin, not too impressed compared to trickdroid although it's probably just due to my ignorance.
No back4menu baked in
Seems a bit sluggish compared to trickdroid, which was already noticibly slower than when I first flashed it months ago
Didn't remove all the bloat I asked it to
Didn't allow my play store apps to auto d/l (weird one - tried two flashes and no dice, tried a different 4.3 rom and all my apps came right back)
That said, it is 4.3 with wifi calling but I'm still rolling back to 4.1.2 for now and sending trickdroids guy 10$ on paypal with a note about wifi calling

Hmmm I came from Trickdroid, then ARHD and have stayed on Insertcoin; zero lag here and no problems auto downloading apps at all. Also Xposed mods work too. But, everyone has their rom preferences, so good luck!
Thanks for the suggestions everyone. behold_this's ROM looks promising, but I messaged mike and he said wifi calling "will come" so I think I'm going to hold off for a few more weeks and hopefully he'll have made the ROM by then.
 Good to know im actually looking for a rom with wifi calling since i dont have great coverage where i live. ill check the mentioned roms out, although was really interested on pacman rom
I will be keeping an eye out for this as well. I sent a PM to the developer for AR HD a day or so ago asking, but no response yet.
I'm no developer, but this seems like it would be pretty simple and quick to implement the WiFi calling feature from the stock T-Mobile ROM which came out almost three weeks ago. I'm really surprised it isn't out yet, especially as he seems to know that people are waiting for it. Then again, most of us aren't paying him for his work. I just don't know how much longer to wait... I seem to have terrible service and WiFi all the time.

It's not as easy as you might think. To implement Wi-Fi calling into a rom the base HAS to be the tmobile base. It's not as easy as ripping an apk out.

Um, is that exactly what we have now that the 4.3 update has been pushing HTC One Roms?

Just because the 4.3 update has pushed out doesnt mean a dev is using it as the base. Some are, some arent.
