Hello everyone. I am on donuthd 2.3 right now and i wanna try zetra x gaming rom. But i cant afford to loose my messages and my call logs. Please tell me a way i can backup them

I've used Titanium Backup to backup and restore call log and messages many times without trouble.

But once i swichted from jb to gb and i backed up contacts but when i restored them, the whole contacts app gave fc

Contacts I have sync. with google on gmail account so when you add new contact and you turn sync on if youre on wifi or even mobile data. all your phone contacts are sync. When you reinstall phone all you have to do is add your google account and turn on sync for contacts in phone settings.

TB has binary and xml backup/restore for some system data. I did it from GB to ICS for call log and messages using xml.
For the contacts I always have used sync with Google as Harviak said.

Is there anyway to backup contacts as the way it is since I merged all my contacts with facebook. By backing up using Mybackup pro it will only restore as separate contact and I have to manually merge it with facebook again, and usually took around ~30mins for it. Is there anywhere to backup everything as it is?
Yes, use SE Backup from the Phonebook....Import export.....
Tried but it still the same. It only restore some with same name as facebook, doesnt restore most of it.

It should do the job.may be after you restore contacts,do some setting more in contacts view mode.

You will have to do it manually,open titanium backup from top click "Backup/Restore" and then find what ever app or system app or contacts you want to restore,click it and restore ONLY data! And youre good to go

Hello,
these items are displayed in green in "Backup/Restore" list (Titanium Backup), all beginning with "[". Or, you can restore all the green items (data only).
A reboot is needed after the restore (data only)
Call history restore doesnt work on ICS.
The rest - just restore app data for mms and contacts app.

Ah, didn't tried on ICS yet.
I found problems restoring SMS from GB to ICS with TB (Force close of SMS application).. Either with [--vk--] and Resurrection roms, solved using MyBackup Root (but I don't like it..)

When updating do not do a factory reset. So you'll have all your existing data even after the update. Now check if this app works in ICS and backup using it. Then do a factory reset(If u need one) and restore it again
usually backup/restore app save everything in a simple txt file, so i think there's no problem to backup in GB and restore in ICS
isn't google automatically update it? why do you need another app?

For messages i usually use 'Backup to Gmail' app from Market.
I had no problems with restoring on ICS messages exported from GB.
To backup contacts
tap options key->backup contacts->memorycard(backup to) it will generate a xxx.vcf
To backup sms

just click backup to backup the messages and copy the folder called "SMSbackup"
now place the xxx.vcf and folder "SMSbackup" and saved it in your pc or in your gmail

after updating to ICS
just install the app again and replace the folder back and click restore your messages
will be restored automatically (tested and it is working)
to restore contact
go to contacts tap option key importan contact and choose the vcf file

i installed sandy's MIUI 2.10.19 .. i liked it very much.. but now there is a problem dat,when i restored my contact data backup using titanium backup, nw am unable to open the dialer or phone contact.. an error is being displayed(android.process.acore has stopped unexpctdly).. when i deleted my contact data,everything was fine but when i again restord my contact data the error is still there and am unable to use dialer or contacts.. can anyone help me...please

That suggests to me that your rom has a different way of using contacts. I don't use MIUI so I don't know, this is just a guess.
It might be worth going back to your previous rom and trying to save your contacts with a different app. If you still have the same problem, you may have to just use a pen and paper..

Don't use titanium to backup contact. Use export/import feature from contact app. Or if u come from other miui rom, u can use miui backup app. -_-

U shouldnt baxk up or restore data for any system app {contacts.messaging,etc} ... the way different roms use the data can be different and cause errors...

Hey guys i just upgraded my rom from xxmea2 to xxemc2, and i took a backup with titanium. But after i restore my contacts `the processa.core has stopped` error pops continiously and my phone gets stuck. I try to open tha contacts application but the app crushes too. What should i do?

Try this one: clear contacts data
Sync contacts to Google in future....so much easier imho
Do not back up or restore any system data with TIBU. This has always been known. Use Google to back them up.

You maybe able to export them to an XML and then save it as a text doc to re-add them manually

You can actually use .xml method in titanium, I always use that for call log, messages and WiFi settings, very reliable on those, wether that option exists for contacts I'm not sure

That is not awailable for contacts. I managed to get my numbers to an excel file, but cant find the owner names of them.
One other possible suggestion is nandroid back or flash back to your old Rom, try and restore them, then Google synch them

What do you mean got stuck? Did it restore Ok or has your nandroid failed? If it restored but doesn't boot try formatting system and data then restoring your backup. Failing that reflash a stock version of your old rom then restore your data, sync with Google then reflash new rom and let Google restore contacts.
