Post What Where:
General - general technical discussion items, news, anything else that does not fit into the other fora categories.
Q&A (Questions and Answers) - all questions, irrespective of type, get posted in here whether they be theme related, accessory related, technical, etc.
Accessories - any items to do with components and/or accessories relating to your device.
Rom Development - only meant for very advanced technical discussion directly related to ROM development activity and the delivery of actual ROMs and ROM components ONLY. Nothing else goes in here.
Themes & Apps - anything to do directly with the development of themes and/or applications. Nothing else goes in here.
MOD EDIT: BEFORE POSTING ANY THREAD IN THE DEVELOPMENT SECTION, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING:
If you have developed a ROM, or are working with others to do so, the development forum is somewhere to discuss and share ideas, post useful feedback and logs or crash dumps, and to discuss a common goal developers are trying to achieve.
It is NOT the place to post your question because it gets higher traffic, or because more experienced users frequent it. Doing this just annoys those who are working on the device, and drives them away. Developers don't want to wade through 20 threads of "Help me urgently" to find their threads for porting and fixing camera issues etc. Similarly, if a thread is designated as discussion for developers say, porting a camera fix, please do not post in there asking "When will it be ready?", "Can I flash this yet?" etc. This is both completely disrespectful to those working on the project (you evidently haven't read the important posts in the thread), and also is making it harder for developers to find comments from other developers or testers when required.
Similarly, don't make loads of "Thanks for your work here" posts in an active development thread. It's just as annoying to developers as asking when something will be ready. If a ROM is complete, then go ahead and thank the developer if you wish, but don't go into threads for devs only, and interrupt it to post "thanks". It's basically spamming, and is treated as such.
If you are posting in development, you should have read every sticky and notice there, and should be actively developing or helping in the development of something. Developing isn't installing a ROM, or using a tweak, it's creating a ROM or other hack or tweak. If you haven't read for several days before starting out on XDA, you are likely about to ask something already solved. I registered on XDA when I first wanted to post, and that was to join in a discussion on something. Sure, join up and ask a question, but read the information available in General and Q&A first, as your question will have been asked before. Search is your friend here, become familiar with it.
Regarding when to post in development if you are not actually developing something, there is one occasion where it's acceptable. If you find a leak of a new ROM, which isn't already posted, and you verify it's legitimacy via either running it, or based on the source you obtained it from, then this is assisting in development, and should be posted in development. If you want to ask when a leak will be available use search first, then if not already in discussion, open a thread in general or Q&A.
If you have a problem flashing a ROM, this is NOT related to development. It's up to you to determine if it is specific to a particular ROM, and post useful information in that developer's existing thread for the ROM. If it happens on more than one ROM, and isn't a known issue (remember you should read several times more words than you post), then find out what you are doing wrong. Check guides written by others, try to repeat the problem and see if it happens every time. Something needs to be reproducible to be fixed effectively.
Once you have identified what you need help with go to the device Q&A forum (general if device lacks one), and make a clear, informative thread that explains the issue, and what you have tried doing to fix it. Did you re-download the ROM? Did you ask a friend to flash it for you, to reduce chance of user error? What steps (exactly) did you follow? What errors did you see (exact wording)? Did you double check all the steps? Did you do a wipe or hard reset?
If you make a clear, concise, yet detailed post, you will find help forthcoming, and should get the problem sorted very quickly. If someone suggests you try something, report back on what happened, did it work etc. Then, next time someone has this issue and searches, they will find this and have a verified and tested solution.
So remember... before you start a thread in development, ask yourself what you are developing. If you can't answer, then stop, step away from the post button, and think about where you are posting. Would it be better in General or Q&A, or is some more time with your best friend, search, required?

[Q] Last Xperia X10 Firmware Vs Custom Firmwares Updates

Hello guys,
I just got the new OFW for Xperia X10a with baseband 2.1.54, but I am not able to use the old firmwares later. The firmware installation is fine, but I cannot to get mobile network.
I tried using two 2.1 OFW and 2.3.1 CFW, but without sucess. I just re-installed the last OFW now and I can to get mobile operator network again.
Somebody have some information about updating CFW with new baseband versions?
** Please, post this question at Dev Forum, because I am not able to do it (Forum restrictions) **
Thanks

Please read the FAQ before asking any questions.
It is quite possible your question may have already been answered. Otherwise you may help me improve that section! :highfive:

I'd like to separate questions from the main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by myself. Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
Welcome to the my builds' help thread! You can ask all questions here without the need of background knowledge. This thread is dedicated to solve users problems, so if you don't want to start a new thread for your question, ask it here. Members ready to help will be monitoring this thread and provide answers as soon as possible.
To those seeking help: Please don't write PMs asking for help. Instead, ask your question here in the thread so others can benefit from the solution to your problem as well. If you want to be sure someone particular gets notified of your question, put his / her username directly after an @. Also, if you have ROM related questions, post in the relevant ROM Q&A thread (if there is one) or directly in the ROM development thread. If you are not eligible of posting there, you may post here. Thank you!
ROM developers: Please read this. Consider if you want to have a ROM specific help thread or not, if not, most likely questions about your ROM will be asked here if the users aren't eligible for posting in development section.
To all of you: Remember the Rules and the Forum Etiquette.
What is the main benefit of your modded CM11?
On page 3 I read " ...It's faster, smoother and more battery friendly, but it's always CyanogenMod 11..."
Is this already the answer or is there another user friendly description I haven't found yet? I mean something which is easy to understand without reading tons of explanations or using a technical dictionary.

Yes, you get it right
Hey there, it's me again. I just wanted to say that I found more or less what I was looking for
Someone put all the benefits of your mod plus useful hints in one single post in the official 'CM11 Nightlies' Thread.
Hi, It's based on M12 Snapshot? Many thanks.
Would you consider hosting ROM builds on some torrent enabled hosting? Torrents also includes crc/hash, supports download resuming (important on unstable 3G), parallel and p2p downloading (when selected mirror is overloaded) and there would be no issues with bad downloads/manual checksum checking before each flashing. I always burn torrent from AFH with bitburn (like burnbit.com/torrent/320771/cm_11_20141115_MARKOX89_i9100_zip) then feed it to Flud on my phone and it works like a charm, never worried about bad download. Only issue is that those AFH links that are burnt in this torrent will expire soon and may not work for others so at last one not expiring mirror would be required (or more seeders).
Mobile data not working
I can't seem to get my Mobile data working. I can make calls, send texts, use WIFI fine but It just won't connect to my mobile data.
I've tried.
Complete wipe with Hawker's scripts; NukeRom etc.
Different Kernels and Modems
Manual setup of APN's
Tons of reboots
I can post a log if no one seems to know a "quick fix"
Survey: which one is the most stable release according your experience?
Dear all,
i have flashed this rom only two times. First time i tried one released in march and the second time (and still using this one) the 20140723-MARKOX89-i9100 . I am not used to change what i consider "stable" if there is not a specific feature what i am greedy about or a bug that i consider critical to be fixed asap (like it happened in my case). This version is stable enough for me apart from couple of time per month when i have to disconnect battery or when music player stop working till a new reboot.
But actually curious to test last updates because i read (if i am not wrong) developers worked on kernel and improved even more this rom that already i consider incredible for my S2!
NOW!
i read some of view experienced weird behaviors with new releases so my question is: after the 20140723-MARKOX89-i9100 would you please suggest a specific release (please provide 2014XXXX-MARKOX89-i9100 name) which already benefits from the news implemented on kernel and which you tested and consider to be "stable" ?
Thank you all in advance!
C.D.

Like I already said, it depends on CyanogenMod Team

You can use either Apolo kernel v7.1 or Dorimanx 10.44 v005. Can't help you with the accuweather thing.
Love your work, you look forward to the next update
Have you thought about integrating @Lanchon trim fix and FPBug fix? Also thanks for an amazing ROM

A sort of CM12 already exists, even if in alpha version. Did you try putting your hands on it?
