Regardless of what I do, how many apps I uninstall, how many apps I downgrade, or how many "sacrifices"(lol) I make, my phone keeps populating the internal space and giving me a Low on Space message which keeps me from installing/updating or doing anything really. Last night I had 104mb free, now I have 48mb, all I did was sleep.
I'm running a V6 Supercharger script and thats really all I can think about that would be causing these problems.
I use app2sd to move all the apps I can over.
A virus? It would be a first for me on android.
I'm using a Huawei Mercury with the leaked "factory" 4.0.1 install. I performed the upgrade about 4 months ago and haven't had problems until maybe a month ago. Maybe a hard reset, or factory data reset and a reinstallation of everything will resolve it, but i'm afraid of it happening again.
I have 1gb allocated to the rom/apps, and then 2gb internal storage that I just don't use.
I've fixed the problem a few times and it just happens again, any help would be greatly appreciated! :crying:

Is what i do about once a month is format my sd card and re-partition it,this keeps the access trash(files, apps, etc.)from cluttering everything up,you using app2sd isnt going to be enough,as soon as you run out of allocated space in your ext.it will start using your internal, hence the low space warning.Nand your existing rom, then backup everything up to your desktop, format your entire phone sd card and all, reinstall the app2sd,then restore your nand.If your still having this problem, then its either an app thats installed or the rom.

The phone has a 1GB for the rom, 2GB Internal, and a 16GB SD.
I don't understand how to keep the 1GB partition from mysteriously filling up regardless of how much I delete.
I always though the apps were suppose to go to the 2GB internal phone partition but they are right along side the ROM, that confuses me. I wish there was a way to truly delete built in apps and not just "disable" them.
Do u use 4g? I heard of problems with it saving cache stuff then not clearing it out.

a factory reset will clear up internal memory on a lot of android devices. remember to back up first if you choose to factory reset it

Hi there,
I really like this Gingerbread Sense roms, but I have a little problem. On a fresh installation, if I reboot, I get a message telling me I may loose some apps that are on memory... True, I lost some after a reboot...
I made a fresh installation with darktremour apps2sd to be able to install more apps on the sd, but when I reboot, I also loose some apps that were on my sd card, so it's not only the internal memory apps that are affect.
So I just want to know if I'm the only one whit this problem and if I can do something to resolve this.
Thanks a lot
I think you are getting confused,it says that to all of us on reboot as it states
"Restarting your phone will clear temporary files out of memory"
This isnt apps it IS cached files, different memory to internal or external memory
Thanks, I'll take a look at it tomorrow with a fresh install. I'm sure that I lost some apps last time, but it may be my mistake. If you are right, everything would be perfect for me than!

What EXT are you using? im on EXT2 with no probs
Well you were right, I reinstalled the beta4 and everything is fine. I don't know what happened last time, but I really had to reinstall some apps after a reboot. So... strange thing and I'm feeling a bit akward now
Thanks for the time you took and sorry for the question!
No worries, Glad to help!

I'm not being funny mate but isn't this the most obvious thing, you clearly have too many files and you've like ran out of space, at least that's the way it looks, move some apps to external sd card or just delete..SIMPLES
this happened to me before, apparently some apps after being uninstalled, still have some files left over, if you try to reinstall the same app, you will get the error.
check under the data folder for any remnants of the app you're trying to install, its likely that it left some behind.
hope this helps!
Thank you but the strange thing is that i have more than 5 giga empty in my internal memory!!!!!!!

m having the same problem. i have 4+ gb space empty but still a few apps are not installing. this happened after root. it there anything wrng??????????
Guys, sit back and relax. It is not important how much free space you have on internal or external SD card, but how much leftovers are still persisting in Data partition.
Easiest way to sort it out: use LuckyPatcher (please do not ask from where to take it), Start it, use troubleshooting, and choose Remove fixes and backups (insufficient storage available).

Or you can delete dalvik cache
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
It happens when you have unused odex files in data/app
Can remove manually or use luckypatcher (on latest version it' s an automated process to check and remove unused odex at launch)
So simply run Luckypatcher and try once again
I just recently rooted my GN2 for Verizon and everything has been working great, except that I keep getting this error with almost every app I try to install. I used titanium backup to move the files over to the sd card and I even changed the android default app install to the sd card as well. Is there something I'm missing? Are we bound to a small ROM partition or something? I'm shocked that I'm still showing almost 10 gigs of internal storage free yet I can't install a 10 meg app.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks!!
Ended up clearing the cache and wiping all the data. That seemed to have worked. Hopefully the issue doesn't come back. Any clue what the root cause of this may be? I've seen countless threads on it and every single one seems to resolve it differently.
Hi,
I am running the latest Omni ROM nightly (12/17) and my internal storage has a major bug where it says I have 170Mb free space when only ~400Mb is actually used by apps and caches, this is out of the 2Gb possible.
To see if this was a bad flash I verified the MD5 on my 12/17 nightly ROM and then re-flashed Omni which on first boot correctly presented the internal storage full space but after the first play store app was installed (xda premium) it jumped back to the space situation described above.
I can't install any more play store apps due to "insufficient storage"
Anyone have this happen or have any idea's?
Thanks,!

Yes and after it did have the correct internal flash size then I installed an app from the play store and checked the internal storage and it was broken again

You know..... I would've just asked in the Omni thread or pm'd the dev. Just my silly logical thinking i suppose.
I don't have 10 posts the minimum to comment in the other sub-forums. Yes I could've PM'ed the OP but that is only a single person audience.
-Have you tried different apps as your "first app install"?
-What housekeeping did you perform inbetween your prior firmware and OMNI?
-Have you tried and observed this behavior on other ROMS since it has shown up on OMNI?

Insufficient storage issue
I have Omni ROM 4.4.2 (26.12.2013 nightly build + kernel - 3.0.6-CM-ge07399aa) installed in my samsung Galaxy Note 1.
Phone works fine but when I try to install an app (size doesn't matter) it reports that it has insufficient space.
In storage, phone tells that Internal sotrage first has 216 MB space free and second has 10.53 GB free and further this I have external SD card with 8 GB memory.
looked at other posts and tried various options with different cache clean options etc but no benefit. I don't want to wipeout the entire phone.
Please help me.

You might have to, but not all is lost. Install Titanium Backup and back up the apps you have (don't back up system data). Next, do a wipe of everything and restore the apps using Titanium Backup. It's worth a try to see if this resolves the issue.

Tried but not working.. same result
It was ART for me that caused the memory issues, stick to davlik

Having the same issues ! , even after wiping and formatting (it did work for a while , then came back)..
i Started deleting apps - but for some reason "free space" does not grow back to normal (i.e - clearing an app that weighs 2gb does not show the space was claimed back...)
I have the same problem It is common on Android from what i have seen on many threads and websites, but not found an answer any where
I'm running the latest CM snapshot. I've been getting the infamous "Insufficient Storage Available" error for a while not, usually with chrome. There are various solutions. The "delete /data/app-lib/<app>/lib" solution was working ok for me but I can no longer find chrome in there anymore for some reason. I've already moved every app that can be moved to the "internal" SD card. All the "solutions" are really just workarounds trying to clear space.
Is it possible to increase the size of the partition by re partitioning the internal storage?

I know that apps can be moved to the SD card. That isnt a solution nor my question.
I'm asking of the internal storage can be repartitioned
I'm having the same issue. I desperately need to reparation my phone.
i'm running viper rom with the sdcard swap mode.
i'm now back to getting insufficient memory messages when trying to update apps or sometimes run apps. it shows i still have plenty of free memory... i have been moving apps to sd card and that works for a little while.

You need to look at internal storage, not SD card storage.
So I did system dump today to explore the files on my computer see what's hogging all of my space.
Background: I have only have 13 apps installed.
What I found is that my data/data is 346 MB and my data/delvik-cache is 452 MB.
So the files installed by CM are getting more numerous and of greater size. Not sure what to do to solve this problem.

same issue here. davlik cache is similar to a cache of your applications so they start faster. So it doesnt matter if you move apps to SD, you'll still have davlik.
Also, many apps will still store data in internal memory eventhough the app itself is on SD. I wish there were a way to move the data.
Or as I initially suggested, re-partitioning.

well, there isn't ANY easy re-partitioning tool for android out in the wild that i KNOW of ... but, (at least to let you know) ... I'm currently still trying to _hack_ something together similar to the internal storage-partition upgrades that the other HTC One devices with MSM8960 recieved ... where they officially unified the /user partition with the internal /sd-card (fat) partition! ... it might take a few weeks until i have something to show around (as work keeps me very busy throughout the week), but i'm working on it.
just as a quick question so CM currently DOES put it's dalvik to the /user partition??? i thought they put it to /cache??? (at least on CM10.1 and CM10.2) ................ so feedback would be highly welcome
