Suggestion about the help thread
It's getting kinda spammed and quite a few questions are going unanswered, instead of one help thread why don't we make 3 each with its own category organising things more and slowing the spam,
1. Questions thread
2. General chat and stuffz
3. (Think of another one)
>>> three threads would make things a lot smoother and allow people to answer and get answers to something quicker as people would be looking in right thread instead of a mega spammed one with random stuff

Well I too agree to what you said
But, people find it too difficult to post in one thread and they can't even find a relevant thread
Three threads(if even sticky) will not find there questions
I made all topics in one thread because it would be quite easier for noobs to post in just one thread instead of using their brain (which they don't want)
About unanswered questions,
I doubt that they are answerable
Of course some of the questions are not so
I search for every questions to answer them
But some people who answer on separate threads are not answering here
However any method that helps clearing General section are really welcomed
However discuss the idea with FM before implementation..
Good Luck.

Please... respect my English? I have studied the language for over 13 years and got to learn things that I'm pretty sure you don't know. sometimes I pity you folks from the English speaking world... you know nothing about your own language! think about that next time you morph into a grammar troll. seriously, a simple typo gets you that worked up? #respect

I don't want to start fight here
So I am backing off
Oops, I couldn't understand what you said so I said that
If you have learned English for 13 years
Then I have done that for 15 years
I just want to say
You aren't going in detail and want help
If it was typo, or even if not, it was to be posted in HELP THREAD
And be brief
And explain the whole thing.
This site helps, but you also have to do some work for yourself too by even posting in right section
And then you with your witness try to answer with irrelevant quotes
Again if you are offended, SORRY

I was thinking you would implement it, as you already have the first one done all you would have to do is rename it and make another 2, also I believe the what the problem is that on mobile the sticky threads are in another section and I usually forget about them completely....
And while on computer I think it's just getting a bit too spammed for anyone to bother

Areeb is totally right if people aren't finding one thread who's name is self explanatory there Is no point in creating multiple ones
And I have got even more than one answer everytime I posted in the help thread even it was a noob one stilllll
So I think so all q's are answered properly

Being willing to help is one thing (even if it is telling me to use another thread or whatever) but snide remarks ruin the whole idea of the forum. the only reason I even posted is because the multiple threads you and many others seem to think exist don't provide the solution; just many suggestions. anyway, of all the rules in forums, the best should be that if you don't have anything helpful to add, hold your peace. and one more thing... over 13 years (over= more than)

OK. I've never received so many private messages in all my xda life. Apologies for the confusion and strife that resulted. just so everyone knows, I managed to solve my issue and, not for the first time, it turned out that a lot of the tutorials I followed online didn't work for me. Thankfully, my variations did. Otherwise, keep the peace

Being a bit of a newb myself. I wondered if anyone agrees that there should be at separate Q&A for noob (novice) questions only.
Therefore more experienced users can filter out stupid questions that even I think is ridiculous. Leaving the Q&A for real problems, rather than simple and stupid questions like "how do I flash a new modem" etc. I propose this idea in all platforms and models.
I felt as a true noob, some time ago that people are very quick to snap at noobs. Leaving them feeling like quitting and giving up. As a community member I feel this is an issue. Having a Q&A for noobs I hope would not leave noob questions unanswered.. just only given advice from willing and helpful members. Leaving experienced or dare I say selfish user the freedom they desire, and the noobs that extra bit of support.
After all, this is a community and we are "supposed" to be helpful. And we all started without any knowledge atall. I am eager to hear your responses.. both noobs and pro devs.
What are your thoughts on this?
Thank me if you agree or better still, post your thoughts. Thanks for your patience in reading my rant

That's not particularly true, people don't snap at noobs. (Well, most don't and those wo do are jerks)
People snap when multiple times a day the same question gets asked again and again with usually (more or less) exactly the same wording.
So they snap at lazy people who either don't use the search function at all or give up after 5 seconds... not noobs. Neither of both requires the other.
get over yourself man. it's nature.
Neh, no.
However there should be a FAQ like thread that answers the most common questions, and newcommers must be forced to read it before being allowed to post xD
The last part is more or less meant jokingly but such an FAQ thread is cool.
Many other device sections have such one.
No point having a noob thread they refuse 99% of the time to read it .
Pity their is not a better FAQ and Guide as per the SGS2 for them not to read though .
Noobs or anybody that does not want to work within the XDA ethos and rules and wants it all handed to them on a plate does not belong on this developers forum a Samsung phone forum would suite them better .

I think the main thing is a stupid question to some can sound like a smart question to others, and some experienced members here have been a bit insulting to new members on their first post, and I think those people are worse than Noobs who keep getting told to use search function, and yeah there really should be an FAQ written that anyone can understand.

I started an offline version some time ago but never got round to finishing it due to my exams.
Tomorrow being my last exam day (everyone please keep the finders :fingers-crossed: ) I'll renew my work on it

Then a mod will only have to sticky a post saying to go look in the Wiki.

I have noticed that people in the q and a section are not posting nearly enough information in their post or title to get the information they need. This causes people to ask lots of questions and delay getting the answer they need. So this guide will show you what you need to include in your post to get the most efficient answer to your question.
We'll start with the Title:
- Please do not just say "HALP, PHONE BROKE" or "HELP" , etc.
- You need to be precise, and describe what you're looking for in your thread.
Next, the information you need to state before you even get into asking your question.
- The make of your phone. There are many different variants of your device. I9100 G/M/P/T
- Are you rooted/unrooted?
- What rom you are using? And which version? -and- What kernel are you using? And which version?
- Have you flashed any mods/scripts/themes?
- Have you changed DPI? If yes, to what?
- Have you done anything to try to solve your issue? This would be very valuable information.
- Please (if on stock firmware) dial *#1234# and post the results (thanks to fxrb)
Then you can ask your question.
- Do not ask "What rom/kernel/theme is the best?" -or- Something that you have not searched for (it is infact very obvious if you havent)
- Be specific and precise in what you want/need. Do not write a 10, 000 word essay, or a 3 word question.
- Pictures say a 1000 words
Important things to remember:
- Be polite: People never want to help someone who wont appreciate it, or is rude to them. Remember your p's and q's
- Do not bump your thread: It gets annoying and against the rules
This is under construction and will take a bit to include all of the information needed. I know there are lots of more experienced users than I, and would love feedback of what to include. Please do not hesitate to post in the thread or even PM me with information you think needs to be included in this thread.
Stickies
- DO NOT POST A "What's the best ROM/Kernel/Theme?" THREAD!
- [Newbies][Experienced Users][RCs] New members friendly Q&A thread
- [KERNEL][REF][Q&A] Siyah 5.0+[ICS/CM10] 6.0b5+[JB/CM10.1] +DISCUSSION+. NON-DEV!!!
- Australian AU Galaxy S II (help/rooting/updates,etc)
- SGS2 Canadian Thread (Bell/Virgin/Sasktel/Rogers) Root/Unlock/Firmware/Modems/Mods
- New here? READ THIS THREAD FIRST. What Is Recovery & Download Mode?
- Frequently Asked Questions
One more: That's it
nice this should put an end to all "not understandable" questions out there

The thought is nice... but unless this is stickied (and even then), this thread will fall off the first page, and since the vast majority of n00bs (not new members, but "n00bs" - there's a huge difference) won't search, they won't see it.
Heck, there have been dozens of posts since you posted this that have been terribly short of any information.
But I applaud the thought.
You have to think how them noobs operate. They muck up their phone, stick the symptoms in a google search, and want an answer asap.
So they are not going to spend hours reading rules and stickies or use the search function.
I spent a week reading about stuff for the x10i I had before I decided to do anything to it.That way at least I had half an idea what helpers were talking about when/if I got into trouble.
When I joined this forum the s2 looked a lot more complicated and the forum looked a lot more "vicious"(like give that guy 20xlashes since he didnt do a search).
Its a tough world lol

in relation to search and read before asking questions...
just wanted to share that I've got a nicely setup dualboot with the siyah kernel, RootBox JB 2.1 as my second rom successfully patched with the autopatcher 1.6 and a fully working pdroid. That's it...
Since i have less than 10 posts I cannot thank the developers in their respective threads (at least that's how i get the message). I think this is my 5th post so I guess i never make it to the developers section because i really don't know what questions i can ask and, answers i could give are all answered...
this must be a "new member" problem rather than a n00b one?

Yeah, but don't just get 10 posts just to say "thank you" in the rom Dev section. I van personally say that devs hate this as it clogs up the thread and doesn't add anything to anything. That is why xda has the thanks button, and the devs appreciate that more than saying it. In fact, it you really want to say thank you donate to them. Even if its 1 euro they will be very grateful.

course not it was kind of a semi-sarcastic post, I have more to say than thanks I spent countless hours reading and learning stuff (in general, it is fun after all!) and as far as this forum is concerned (which is really helpful btw!) it's difficult to then act (for the time being!). Example: Somehow I managed to post in a developer's thread 1-2 months ago, first a problem then I found the solution and posted it myself. I then got PMed by someone asking me for help. Only problem is I never got an email notification in spite of having a thread subscription so I didn't bother to check my PMs. As for donating, absolutely.

OK awesome. I'm used to people who just want to say thanks, so I have to mention something like that. But taking a look at your sign up date, of looks like you might be able to post in the Dev section without having 10 posts. I believe if you signed up before a certain date you don't need the posts. And of looks like you might fit in there. I would try it you never know

Sadly I agree to everybody believing that this thread will not be read by those who should do so, sorry. However, if by accident just one out of thousand will read it then there will be 'only' 999 bad questions remaining - a small progress.
For this one out of thousand I would like to contribute something to the information section of this thread. For basic information I often ask people to dial *#1234# and post the result. As this thread is in the Galaxy SII forum this should work, at least as long as people are on stock firmware (probably use this conditionally ?).

New On XDA or New With Your S3, Here are few Things You Need To Remember Before Posting in the 'General Q&A section' about your Issues.
Here You See And Learn Many More Things When Your Are New On Xda
A Very Nice Detailed Info By Saywhatt
[HOW TO] make a substantial THREAD, POST, QUESTION and POLL
[GUIDE] HOW TO POST: Understanding the UI in posting
[HOW TO] make a substantial THREAD, POST, QUESTION and POLL
Huge Thanks To Saywhatt For Sharing Knowledge
So Here We Go ,
Well we always do notice that people in the 'General Q&A section' are not putting nearly enough information in their Post and Title to get proper solution to ther issues.
Reasons:
[*] A bad Title like ' plz help', ' urgent', 'phone dead' etc.
[*] No relavent info about the phone Model/ ROM/KERNEL/MODEM etc in there post.
Since insufficient info causes hindrence for members who are willing to help and leads to ask lots of questions from them and the very same(lack of info) will delay getting the solution for you.
So this Guide will show you what you need to include in your post to get the most efficient answer to your question.
We'll start with the Title:
- Just Writing Help , Bricked , Guys Help Me out Wont Be Enough For People Having knowledge Of You’re your Issue To Help You Out.
Provide A Better Title Like
“ I Soft Bricked My Phone “
“ Having Kernel Issues”
- You need to be precise, and describe what you're looking for in your thread.
Next, the Information you need to state before you even get into asking your question.
Dont Start Off Or Just Dont Write 'I Flashed This Rom/Kernel And Cannot Boot Up or Stuck At Logo / Boot Loop plz help' and sit and wait for solution's to pour in for you.
Rather try to provide more basic info like:
- The make of your phone. There are many different variants of your device Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 /G/M/P/T
- What Rom/Kernel/Modem you are using?
- Are you rooted/unrooted?
- Have you flashed any mods/scripts/themes?
- Have you changed DPI? If yes, to what?
- Have you done anything to try to solve your issue prior to posting the same?
since these would be very valuable information,
which do aid a member who is ready to help with your issue for sure.
Additionally, visual aids like 'Screeen shot' or a small 'Video clip' will help a lot in resolving issue's in a better way for sure.
For people who are with Stock Rom's:
Please dial *#1234# and post the results (thanks to fxrb) if your not sure about the Rom/Kernel/Modem info.
And also adding the relavent info of ROM/Kernel/Modem to ur signature will save time in providing the same.
After You Completed The Above Steps Its Time When you can ask your question.
And do Remember:
- Do not ask "What rom/kernel/theme is the best?" -or- Something that you have not searched for (it is infact very obvious if you havent), since its against XDA rule
- Be specific and precise in what you want/need. Do not write a 10,000 word essay, or a 3 word question.
And Always Remember On Xda The Most Important Rules :
- Be polite: People never want to help someone who wont appreciate it, or is rude to them. Remember your p's and q's
- Do not bump your thread: It gets annoying and against the rules
This is just a begining and will take a bit to include all of the information needed.
I know there are lots of more experienced users than I, and would love feedback of what to include.
Please do not hesitate to post in the thread or even PM me with your valuable inputs you think needs to be included in this thread.
Reserved
and another one if needed
and one more
well its a pretty decent effort from ur end for sure Buddy
now its the people (new Comers) who has to utilize the same in an efficient way
and if its made 'Sticky' by the Mod's, will be more helpfull

A useful guide for noobs but unfortunately as is always the case on XDA it will probably get lost in translation and as usual you'll have people on asking the same usual questions, the only solution as ive said all along is when people register on XDA as part of the sign up process they must tick a disclaimer that they need to use the search function and if they don't and ask noobish questions they get a temporary ban for a week and if after that they persist a full ban, it might sound extreme but as far as i can see this really is the only solution to stop noobs from posting the same questions day in, day out, year in, year out, it seriously has to be implemented, many good people have left XDA from when i first came on here because of noobs and to be honest you can hardly blame them, pretty much every answer noobs want is highly likely to already be on XDA somewhere and can be found via the search function.

Bumping means, to move a thread to the top of the forum, with a pointless reply (usually to one's own thread, to promote something or to get an answer to an unanswered question)
Bring

I'm wondering how do you guys transfer a file from a Mac to Android using Cyberduck + SSHDroid? Anyone is helpful enough to post a tutorial here, please?

Yah so after using the JellyBlast v3.04 for a month, i thought it was perfect until i got into a problem last night. Ace(i) kept freezing. I had to restart several times:crying:, so when i restarted it the 4th time, it boots only in recovery mode now.
I have flashed Stock Firmware (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1611225)
Which i succeded in but the phone hasnt still been able to boot.
Please look to it.
P.S. In recovery mode, i tried clicking on the option reboot system now but then it just freezes on the last part, i.e.

Are you a noob?
If yes
Then be a newbies first and then register at XDA Forum
Now, I assume you are back and now you are not a noob and understand the XDA rules that SEARCH BEFORE POSTING
And you won't even had to search
You could JUST OPEN YOUR EYES AND SEE
There is a thread called
POST YOUR QUESTIONS HERE
No one should help you unless you post your questions here

You are fast
You just posted it directly before I wanted to post it
I Can't Help You . . . I'm a Horse
Thanks to all the supporting members of XDA
You really care about XDA
Those who are criticising you are surely noobs
High 5 to you and pacepalm to noobs.
First, due to respect, I called them newbies as I thought I was also like them first.
But I was wrong
If they are only newbies at first
Then I was a pro from birth
I doubt I have posted any question.
I only remember posting a question which was related to the problem coming during recompiling Systemui.apk and that too I solved on my own.
I feel very bad for them.
A way to tell you it without using words...
Sorry [ Youtube ] [ /Youtube ] doesn't work for a reason :/

I'm sorry but I believe this is all a load of crap, yes I support your idea of keeping the forum clean and that users should search before posting, however if they do search and cannot find any answers they have a right to post here in the general forum
I believe posting everything in one thread is dumb and inefficient let's say everyone does post in your thread there will be about a thousand questions and nobody will be able to cope and so it will flood with questions and very little answers, Threads are a lot easier to answer and to help people when they're spread out and left how they are as users can easily see what the problem is and answer the individuals question easily, compared to searching through your thread which makes you read question after question to the supposed answer to your question you may of asked the day before only to find it isn't a solution to your problem but yet another question posted by a fellow user...
again may i say i support the idea of asking people to search and it is your right to not answer them but simply refusing until they post in your thread is dumb, There's nothing wrong with the current system and the forum can be improved if we simply ask politely that thwy search more often and even direct them to the older threads with links, that's what this community is for, helping fellow developers

You are new here and don't understand WE DON'T HAVE A Q&A SECTION
And if you don't know how it feels to see same noob questions filling the General section and then the Guides pushing back and then again noobs asking for it
First, you are the only person right now saying IT IS WRONG TO KEEP GENERAL SECTION CLEAN?
I have said that if nobody
Then I will help every one who questions in my thread
Also it won't matter if questions are repeated there.
You understand?
Here it is against the rules to post a guide or update in development section.
And these things are more important than the noob questions.
You are talking about right of noobs.
You should know rules come before the rights.
If they don't search before posting, they don't deserve this right.
And the next thing, even if they do, if they can't find answers, I WILL ANSWER THEM IF NOBODY DOES.
That's my promise.
I don't know why you support them.
I never saw such noob posting such a question
"Error in smali decompiling"
".xml scatter "
The answer they seek are not necessarily be answered by S5830i General Section
They can be found anywhere on internet.
The questions they post about ROMs and kernel are answered numerous times
They don't have 10 posts and try to be good at it.
Brick the device by their foolishness(It is not easy to Brick a device, and even if you do there are several guides to restore it), and then flood the General section.
I didn't ever want to say that about them but it is true.
So, I never used cuss words about them but you know.
It is kind of spamming they do.
If genuine questions are also posted there.
Then what is the problem.
It is clean.
Believe me it's healthier for noobs
If nobody helps them in General section
Then they will Atleast read which they don't do and that is the problem.
Long Live XDA
Long live General Section(which it won't do if tsunami continues)
Regards
I say again I am not against cleaning up the forum -.-
I just believe your idea is ineffecient
I propose instead that we create a partition and pass it onto a senior mod asking for a new forum section.

Hello.
I had started a thread a while back about "Installing Google Play Services on JPay JP5S tablet" - in the Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting forum.
Now, all of a sudden, it appears to have been deleted without explanation. Can someone tell me why? Did the thread violate some XDA forum rule? If so, what rule?
I'd appreciate any assistance with this inquiry. I'm new to this forum, but I don't want to repeat any mistakes if I made any.

Hello new fellow ! Welcome to XDA.
First of all, have a look at the rules, it's short and you'll find why your post vanished.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?a=81
Second of all, most newbies here misplaces post, so:
Questions post belongs to Q'n'A section only.
Also, XDA is a very big forum! So always prefer reading over asking, because if you had an issue someone surely had it before. And reposting the same question make the site more and more slower.
A big mistake newbies make is asking before even searching on Google, XDA isn't the only place in the web to find answers, so please, search deeply before posting.
XDA was once accused (a little less now) of "n00b bashing" because more experimented users had harsh responses to questions they saw everytime. If you read thoroughly before posting, this won't happen.
Also, be respectful, etc...
Everytime someone helps you with a post, please hit the "thank" button. It's the way you say thank you instead of saying thank you on a post (that saturate XDA for nothing).
Finally, when you report a bug, please make a logcat and attach it to your post. That's the most common mistakes that even senior members make sometimes.
Also check out the "XDA New user Guide" (1) and a How to logcat thread (2)
1)https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1699450
2)https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1726238
Thanks for asking that, very few new ones takes time thinking how they can better act here on XDA, showing you will to do better proves that every person with a little bit of common sense know that internet has rules also, and that a forum doesn't organize itself alone.
Thank again
Have a good day

Thanks, but your reply still does not shed any light on why my thread was deleted.
I may be a noob to this forum, but I am not a noob to forums in general. I had already read the forum rules, and I believed then (and still believe now) that my thread had complied with the rules.
In particular, I had conducted a search prior to posting, but there were (and still are) no threads on the topic. A current search of "JPay JP5S" reveals five hits: two threads (one of which is my old thread) which are deleted, two threads which I do not yet have permission to access (but which deal with different topics anyways), and this thread here. Thus, my thread was not redundant of a previously asked and answered question.
Is the JPay JP5S a taboo or forbidden topic to discuss? If so, an indication to that effect would be nice. If not, I would still like to know why my thread was deleted. Again, I obviously don't want to repeat whatever mistake I might have made with the last one, if I made any.

That's weird indeed...
There aren't any taboos in XDA regarding this device... You could also try to PM moderators to know what's the issue with your thread, but include this time what you said in it, so you can have explanations. I can't tell you since the thread isn't in front of me. Here is the list of mods in XDA:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1lK5rP103OL3StU3q9iqwX9LU_k8XABeSQIAT3EHCqgM/pub
They're all nice
Pick one in the "all other forums" section of the document and try to contact him about that.
PM Sent. Discussion on our end regarding our PM conversation. Hold tight :good:

It has been handled. As the RC already mentioned, please do not hesitate using the "Report Button", when you believe that a violation of the forum rules has occurred. Like this we can take care of situations like this way faster.
Thx for your understanding.

And don't worry, you will learn your way around the forums, we all had to

Not to revive this dead thread, but if it's okay to discuss the JP5, then why did *every* thread about it disappear? I get that there were a bunch of people trying to sell services, but why not just delete their posts? There was a 50-some page thread that contained invaluable info that simply doesn't seem to exist anywhere now, and even Google Cache and Wayback Machine are basically useless. It sure *looks* like the JPay people "got to" XDA or something.
If anyone can at least provide a link to the needed files to "unlock" these things, that'd be awesome. Or better yet, can we start a new thread without it going poof? (Or best yet, could that old one ever be restored?)
I am also looking for the files to unlock my jp5 tablet. I also have a jp6 tablet I'd like to unlock. Any help would be great. $ is not an issue
Anyluck?
