Hello Guys,
I am planning to buy a xperia. My choices are xperia p & Xperia sola.
P is with 1 GB of RAM while SOLA with 512 MB...
other specifications difference is useless for me like..
screen size, front camera, hdmi port, better camera, no sdcard support in P, unofficial jellybean for sola ...and many more..
But I have questions that...
512 mb RAM is capable of running custom Android 4.2 smooth or not ?
Also , will 512 mb ram be enough to handle Android 5.0 which is comming soon.
Note: I am asking these questions because I am a multitasking addictive.
Go for Xperia P, you will not have any problem with 1gb of ram.
BTW, 512mb are enough to run everything smoothly without sony's shi**y bloatware.

Bro - first Sola wont get official JB from Sony if you dont know, P will get it.
Second if there is unofficial JB for Sola it will be 4.1, Sola will never get 5.0 imo.
P is the better one.
If i were you i would get Nexus 4.
Please man be smarter and think before you ask

Definitely SXP...if u got the money!
1gb ram is quite useful...future is safe!
you'll atleast be gettng official JB!
I gotta SXU...and i think 512mb ram is enough but its definitely better to go for a device having 1gb ram!
Smoothness is definitely there even with devices having 512 mb ram...but if u particularly hate occasional redraws...then blindly buy SXP! And multitasking is also better in case on XP!
Buy wisely!
Cheers!
Buy the Xperia P or the Xperia S... These will get the future official or unofficial updates... Xperia s has more big dev community.....we don't know anything about Nova Thor....if ST Ericsson releases sources then future unofficial updates can be possible for this community...

Ics sucks more Ram than Gb,
Is 512mb Ram(368mb) on Xperia Sola enough???
If not, should I go with Sony xperia p,
My budget is very tight...I had bought Sola very difficulty...
Low Ram on Sola is main reason for upgarding phone...
So,Whats ur IDea???,

No need to change! Many, many smartphones have 512mb RAM that are upgraded officially to ICS. Many of the 2011 Xperias got ICS officially with 512mb of RAM and it works really well, no lag problems.
ICS is not a problem, I'm more worried about Jellybean or Key Lime Pie...
Thanx for Rply all guys,

Youtube videos show that it runs pretty smooth on p but u and sola only have 512 mb of ram and xperia 11 devices run ics awefull. The launcher is very laggy there. Can any xperia p user confirm that is is as fast/faster than gingerbread and do you think less ram will make it run less smooth?

as far as this video shows, its pretty fast on P
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KyZx8MGHXm8&feature=related
All phones are good unless you don't over-clog em with plenty of apps and garbage !!!
I trust, that Sony will make nearly as smooth as it is on Xperia P. :good:
ive seen post that xperia U can copy the JB of xperia P if it became available, does that mean that xperia U can get xperia P's white magic(or something like that dont know the exact name)? or can it run on xperia U without having a problem on xperia U's illuminating bar? thank you very much in advance.

or maybe we will force sony to make upgrade  www.gopetition.com/petitions/jellybean-update-for-xperia-u-and-xperia-sola.html

Ha, sry, it's for XP U, my mistake...
It can't get whitemagic because it's basically a hardware feature - XP has an LCD RGBW screen (additional white subpixel).

yes whaitemagic is sony's "IPS" screen, its nearly the same thing just the name is whitemagic for marketing
hmm im just thinking that if sony doesnt really provide JB to xperia U, is it possible to make the JB of go and P to xperia U and make it looks like it is an official JB for xperia U? i really like the UI of sony, it is unique for me compared to other android device.

I don't think JB would be good for device with 512 Ram. ICS itself overweight for 512 Ram.

Nope its not
There are alot of devices wid 512mb ram being updated to or will be updated to jelly bean
I agree JB can be ported to device with 512 Ram. But the available Ram for user would be less and android keep killing the process when memory goes below the kill bit level. I am facing this issue in Ics every time i browse using stock browser or Ucs.

i dont think so also, xperia go and J is going to have it, they have 512 ram too, and based on what ive seen, JB is lighter than ICS.
Hello dear XDA users, I'm wondering wether i should move from the Arc S to Go.
I have saved sufficient money to buy an Xperia Go and would like your suggestions.
I would like to know the problems Xperia Go user are facing...
Here's a good and bad thingy (Please tell me if i'm wrong)
Goods :
1. A dual core processor
2. Small size
3. Good battery life (?)
4. 512 of RAM
5. Has NFC
6. WATERPROOF
Bad :
1. Screen resolution is low
2.Non-removable battery
3. No HDMI
Thank you very much!
No its not a good idea...
I understand u get bored from ur device
Nut moving to xperia go is not a good idea..
Go for xperia p or xperia ion insted...
Go is poor...
U hav used 1gb ram in arc s and in go u will find only 512mb too low...
Plus poor screen..
Plus jellybean not arrived yet+ low development compared to xperia ion or xperia s..
I'll not suggest for xgo
Better save sum more money and get X ion ..
If u want to go for sony...

How about Sola?
ther is not NFC in xGo
ICS lags so much without rooting, tweaking, and removing garbage. I bought mine because I needed a sweatproof phone.
Tapped on a not-so-stock ST27i ICS.

No plz don't go for
These
Go for xperia p..
Or htc dezire x
Atleast u will get 756mb ràm + 4" display..
Atleast better than sola and go.
And sorry I got confused with the xperia arc s ram..

you are a big fool if you changed from an arc s to an xperia go
go to xperia p
or wait till xperia sp and l release
Thank you all for your useful suggestions, i will re-consider my choice.
Hi,
I want to buy xperia p and I want to know does sony plans to update it to 4.2?or like arc s sony will leave it with 4.1?
sony never updated the arc s to 4.1
Don't even dream about that,XS maybe, but XP never. With all the large number of phones that Sony release every year the 'old' phones are forgotten easily.

I had an Xperia Ray (same gpu/cpu amount of ram as your arc s) OCed to 1,8 GHZ and now I have a Sola (same gpu/cpu as xperia p) and I have to say that Ray was way better. I don't think that you should ever buy a novathor device. Go for HTC one S or galaxy S2 in my opinion. Or Xperia l.
Even if Sony wanted to bring 4.2 to P, it cannot as ST-Erricsson is about to die & they are most probably not gonna develop sources for 4.2

Xperia P is a lovely phone, with great performace, the only bad thing is the lack of support by Sony and devs.I had an Lumia 800 and Galaxy S2 before and my actual XP is way better on matter of performace and very beautiful phone.

The JB Rom really great and fast in Xperia P...
I also tried it on my sola which was ported by Munjeni...
Fast than ICS Rom,but with some bugs because that was ported from Xperia P & go...
You can go for Xperia P
Or Xperia L,good also.
Just Screen resolution lower (480x854)
Xperia P 960x540
So Xperia L can't watch Full HD Videos and also can't capture full HD videos.
Others Xperia L won Xperia P...

So is there any chance to sony update a 4.1 lag free even?

You can enable clear audio+ for better music or Xloud for calls. I got Xperia P JB and it is much better than ICS, sound and everything is smoother. I love new stamina mode on battery in which you can choose which applications should work even in stamina mode (like skype, what´s app or viber).
The v4a app is by far the best sound mod ever and I've used all. Plus it's a app
