Hi, I have a problem because it does not work for me the power button (switch) sometimes work but it's very rare.
I turn on the phone one way just when I put the battery to vibrate your phone and automatically switches on or turn as electricity, or disable it by battery bothers me is because even as jams such as the game in my old Xperia helped lock the keyboard and walked more ... and here I do not like to block.
I'm sorry for my bad English I'm Polish ..

Does anyone know if it's possible to turn off the display while in a call? On my HTC Touch Pro I was able to just press the power button to achieve this - but on the Hero the power button is also the hang up button.
Any ideas?
Actually it's supposed to turn off automatically.
IMO the problem isn't turning the screen off during a call, it's turning it back on when needed.

I agree completely... Is an annoying issue that display go away on call because if you need something, ie keyboard or see call duration you need to do something for have it back.
Why not try this app, which you shake to wake the screen - not tired it myself but worth a go
Shake Awake
If the screen goes blank during a call you can simply press the menu button to wake up the screen again. Just tested that and it works fine.
Still, it would be nice to be able to turn it off when I want and not have to wait for it to time out to switch the display off.
You can also press the answer button to wake screen while in a call.
As to shake-it-to-wake-it, with the non-stick coating on the device I would probably be likely to launch it out of my hand !!! haha
Sprint Hero
I just picked up a Spring HTC Hero this weekend and am finding the same problem. When I place the phone up to my ear the screen does not shut off. However since the end button is also the same button used to turn off the screen, I'm in a catch 22.
For now I have to wait for the screen to time out. Turning the screen back on is not an issue as many have mentioned.
Hi,
I have an HTC Mozart with 7.10.8107.79. It's got this annoying feature or lack of feature...how do I know when the handset is on or off? I mean I go into a meeting and want the phone off, I hold down the power button, slide down the screen, it's off. I'm then late for my second or third meeting and I rush into the room... I need to know if the phone is off so I don't start ringing... how do I know if it's on or off? If I press the power button the handset starts the rather long power on and I have to wait...and then power down. Surely it should be press and hold, press two buttons, or press twice, or anything that confirms I want to turn the handset on? It really is crazy if this is how it's supposed to function.
Like if i'm in a presentation and the speaker says Please check all phones are off...and then i'm there frigging about ripping the battery out.
It also acts weird when it's charging. I turn it off...it turns itself back on. I'm not as fussed at that but it's still crazy.
I couldn't find anything on internet about this, or an app of some kind. Does it upset others? Is it a possible enhancement for the phone??

There's no smilie but i assume you're joking
A more appropriate response would be:
1. Turn it off
2. Get a phone that's fit for purpose
If there was an app that started when the phone was turned on and turned the phone off if a confirmation tap or code wasn't entered by user, I think it would be very useful and popular.
Hi, it was normal day, my hts work fine as always, and sudenly, when i pull out my d610, phone stop responding, i cant turn screen on, only volume keys are working (i can hear sound from speeker, and vibrations awe working) but no respond from turn on/off key. Hello everyone
I replaced my lcd and digitizer because the touch did not working on the original screen of K3 note
I have the following problems
The screen works and touch also when i power up the device but when i lock the screen from power button the screen 8/10 times never turn on and i can see only the backlight, if i press multiple times the power button it will turn on finally but i never know when it will. If i remove the battery and turn it on again , everything works fine until i lock the phone. The phone works when it is locked by the way. Also if i press the power button to unlock the touch works but i can see only the back light no image.
I tried to lock and unlock the screen with gestures , same problem.
The weird think is that sometimes it turns on.
One think i forgot to mention is that sometimes when the screen turn on after pressing the power button i see black horizontal lines for some seconts(flickering) and then they dissapear
I tried a lot of different roms, i disconnected and connected again, never sleep mode with safe locker , i disabled the proximity sensor with x posed , i removed the sd card, nothing helped.
Can anyone suggest me something else to do?
Changing screen settings maybe? and how
Thanks a lot and sorry for my engish it is not my native language.
Hi,
My phone has a faulty power button and I'm unable to get it fixed. I've found easy work-arounds for it for locking and unlocking the phone. However, I'm not sure how to turn on the phone if it's switched off.
When I connect the charger, even if the battery is 90% it won't turn on on its own...

Nope, the only way I could turn it on was to open the back cover (very painful process) and then press the button area with a pin.
Couldn't get it fixed, so I had to change the phone.
I think there are possibilities in rooted phones, but otherwise the best thing to do is to keep a battery alarm at 30% or more, and keep it on charging whenever you can to avoid a power off. In power on, there are many ways of locking the screen in the MI UI.

Thanks. I installed Blocco Schermo - Simi Studio v.3.21 , a simple app to lock the screen...and when i flagged the option "show in notification area" , the problem magically disappeared.. The Power On/Off button started to work again. I think it was an hardware problem (because the problem has come up after the phone was at the sunlight for hours in my car and went very hot) but now i think it's obviously a software problem.
Hi guys, I got the same problem too. Unfortunately, I drained my batt while playing games. So the problem now is I can't turn it on. Any idea how to turn on the phone without using the power button?
I solved it
Hi guys i solved a problem! You should hold main button + down volume button for 10-20 seconds. Then, when MI Remote opens, stay on the reboot and wait about 3 minutes, then stay on the reboot systems as well. Great work!
just change the volume flexible. its also not took much cost.
