Note 2 can't get Verizon cdma and lte - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

I have a note 2 rooted and unlocked running beans. I have it on global mode using an att sim. But when I put in a Verizon 4g sim I don't get cdma lte just signal bars. Would I just need to do this?

Or is it the wrong thing to do ? Nothing is wrong with my IMEI but I don't have a ERI whatever that is. I am very new at this. I appreciate any help and clarification. Thanks !!!

Go into the hidden menu and do ##rtn# should be the last one. If I remember right this may cause a factory reset as well so be sure to back up.

You *might* have to go back to stock if the SIM can't be activated for Verizon. The debloating process might have removed something needed.

Would a factory reset delete beans plus root/relock bootloader ? Thanks ! I will try both of your suggestions and keep you posted !

I'm just curious have any if you powered the phone on without the sim. Then powered down, put the sim back and powered on?
It is such an easy thing?, but maybe someone overlooked it.

the same thing happened to my phone when i tried an att rom. i have a replacement on the way now but i thought of an idea. could you go back to stock and when you put the sim card in go to settings> more settings>mobile networks> Access point names> and select the verizon one? if you could report back i think it might help me too but i dont want to try it because i dont want to go through the hassle of replacing the sim card again from my loaner stratosphere right now. mucho appreciated.

I've gone through this multiple times now. ##Rtn# will fix it, and you just need to make sure you didn't accidentally get a 3g only prl somehow

Lost LTE

Hey guys I have been rooted for a while now but on Sunday I crack flashed a bunch of 4.2 roms and lost connection to 4g. I have replaced my sim card and re flashed the radios but I am now stumped. When I get home I will probably Odin back to stock but if you guys have any suggestions I would appreciate it.

you answered your own question...odin back to stock.
Just wanted to know if there was anything I could try in the mean time.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
go into settings/more settings/mobile networks/network mode, then toggle lte/cdma and see if it brings 4g back up. If that don't work you can try a factory reset, still nothing then odin back to stock.
Yeah tried all of that. Looks like I have a date with Odin tonight.

Restored via odin and still no 4g. I'm at a loss. Could I have burned the 4g capabilities?
did you get a new sim from vzw? i know you said that you "replaced" it but was that with a new or used sim? also might want to power device off and make sure the sim is seated properly.
also are you getting 3g, 1x, or any data at all?
I finally got it guys thanks.

how did u fix it?
After all of that fighting the system, changing the sim, reloading stock the sim holder is sort of wide and the spring forces it just a bit off of the contacts I adjusted it just a bit rebooted and got 4g back. Always check the stupid things that it could be first. Lesson learned for the 10th time. Though I checked it multiple times before resorting to a system restore so who knows what caused it.

Flash Note 2 back to verizon

I am trying to purchase a verizon note 2 from a guy, but he used it in Guam on IT&E telecom. He had to change the SPC and used it solely on CDMA while there. I'm trying to get it to work back on the VZW 4g network, but can't find a great guide on getting it back....
Can anyone help point me in the right direction to get it to recognize the verizon network again? Putting a SIM in just sits at the activate screen and never activates..
Verizon checked the ESN and it is clean.
Thanks

I wish I could help you more bit that's the only thing I can think of. Me personally I would just take it to Verizon. If it has a clean esn they should be able to activate it.
By the way when you meet up, it's under settings/more settings/mobile networks/network mode.

If it has the latest update, VRAMC3, then all you have to do is flash the Root66 or alternate recovery ROM. If that doesn't fix it I would suggest flashing Root66 with the NAND Earase checked.
If its on VRALJB or VRALL4 then you can flash the VRALJB or VRALL4 .tar's in Odin and be done with it.
You need to read Droidstyles guide in the Android Development section, it will explain everything you need to know about going back to stock, its in section 1B I believe.

sprint note 3 metropcs mms fix

This is a flashible zip to fix mms messaging on sprint galaxy note 3. Your phone must be active on metropcs with working internet. Remove sim reboot into recovery flash the attached zip then reboot to system. Mms should now work but if u have sms enabled in hangouts it will mess up mms. You will need to go to settings in hangouts and disable sms. I was able to edit hangouts.apk to make it work, it works very well mms even works sending and receiving while connected to wifi but have not posted it.
For me on mj4 apns would not stick active unless I left sim out
As all way use at own risk i am not responsible for anything that may happen
New zip can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2766197
Can anybody let me know what what changes are necessary to make stock mms work on any carrier? My Note 3 is on verizon..i think im just trying to figure out what mods are made to the secMMs.apk ...change MMS settings in EPST menu, replace apn-config.xml but thats all i know

Psa: Do not dial *228!!!

I was being a dumbass and dialed *228 thinking it will update my PRL and improve my signal. Immediately after programming, I was limited to 3g connection. I lost 4g/LTE connection. I fixed this by going to the Verizon store and asked them for a new SIM card, which was free of charge.
*228 is for 3g phones ONLY. Not for the GS4, unless you like 3g connection speeds...
It is a relatively simple solution, but it can also be easily avoided. Save yourself the trouble, and don't make the same mistake I did.

When you try and improve your data connection you use *228 when you use *228 you limit you data speeds to 3g and it requires a new sim card. I made the same mistake too. I waited a few days and no 4G/LTE came back. I tried going to the local corporate store and they wouldn't even talk to me as I was running a custom recovery & rom (on MDK bootloader!). I went to one of the retail stores and they helped me out with a new SIM card.

another way to get prl back is to clean flash a rom and the system automatically does a prl update on boot if other steps dont work
Sent From My Hyperdriven S4
I did this a month or two ago and lost my 4g. What I did was contact Verizon Support (via web chat but you could call them). I told them I accidentally dialed *228 and lost 4g and asked them if they would manually push a PRL update to my phone. The technician had me power off my device and when I turned it back on all was well, had 4g again.
This saved me the awkwardness of taking my phone into a store where they would see it was rooted with a custom ROM.
Sadly, found this thread too late. I dialed *228 and had to go get a new sim. At least no questions were asked at VZW.
Yeah . . I did it too lol
If you want to change your connection or update your prl's there's a code you can typee in the phone dialer to bring up a hidden menu.
In the dialer type *#*#4636#*#* and then go to phone information and scroll down and change the option to CDMA/LTE and that always works for me.
I've heard of a few people that this hasn't worked with, but other wise it has always worked for me.

Problem with 4G LTE

Cannot get my S4 to connect to 4G. I have MDK rooted/unlocked running Carbon Rom, tried Sonic Rom and GPE 4.4.3, used Odin back to stock unrooted and still no 4G LTE.
Whats happening: on stock I had 4G at first boot-up but then it cannot connect anymore. When on Carbon if I change APN back to LTE Verizon standard it connects to LTE for a moment but kicks back to diff APN and 3G only. Same on any AOSP or GPE rom.
Any ideas? hardware issue?

Well could be your Sim card possibly since you had that issue on stock MDK
I know some aosp Roms have been getting updates to their APNs and I've ran into this same issue myself.
Currently I'm on this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2760650
And my data is perfect. The APNs are not accessible however. But still no issues for me.

Also have you tried flashing different modems? I know you used Odin so that'll put you back to MDK but before going and getting a new Sim you could try that ROM I linked you to and maybe flash the NC5 modem as well. That's what I'm running

I've tried a couple roms. It seems the issue is apn won't stock. I change it and sometimes get 4g for a moment then it resets and no 4g and if I delete all apn but one it still won't stick to that one.

And you used a full wipe MDK Odin file? You should be able to at least get it back on stock I'd think. And if not that point to your Sim most likely or who knows... Hardware issue maybe.
Sims are free at any corporate Verizon store and something like $15 at retail ones. May want to at least try that.

Try pulling your Sim out for like 30 seconds then put it back in. Phone powered off. Supposed to reset it.

Awesome! New SIM card solved it.
Not awesome. 3 days on new Sim and 4g is no longer persistent. Anyone else with similar problems? I've tried another 3 or 4 roms and no progress.

I know dialing *228 can smoke a Sim card for us... Are you doing that by any chance? What Roms have you been on so far... I'm assuming it did work fine on stock?!

Have you tried the app Automatic system settings? You can select LTE only mode and force it into LTE. Ever since Kit Kat, I've had 4g far less than before. It constantly switches out to 3g when not in use for a while. Happens mostly inside buildings.

Still happening on touch wiz?
Did you try re-flashing I545VRUAMDK_modem_apnhlos.zip from the modem thread?

I've tried using LTE only with Network settings and sometimes get LTE to stick but no cell signal available then.

Kinda pissed right now, because I did use *228 and that might be it. It worked fine on stock and AOSP for a long time but I switched phones with my wife and did *228, got a new SIM card and worked but tried *228 to update roaming

Well F me Verizon. Thanks! At least now I know and I can fix this. Thank you for solving this problem - with rooted, flashed 1k times, warranty voided I was afraid I was stuck with 3G forever. Hopefully the Verizon store doesn't care that my phone is rooted, they got a little inquisitive last time.

No they don't care. Just if you make you feel better throw MDK back on there and freeze SDM but I've been in there for Sims running Liquid Smooth. Nothing they can do. Especially just for a Sim. That's a separate issue.
That post said someone had called them and explained and they fixed it without going into the store
