I am the proud owner of a SGS3
But I'm not the biggest fan of touchwiz and I love everything about 4.2!
So like many others, I flash a 4.2 custom ROM. AOKP 4.2 build 2, to be exact.
After flashing, I loved it. Everything about it was just perfect. It was fast, light, easy to use, and FAST! But then I go to take a picture. And boom.
"Can't Connect to Camera"
I had no idea what to do, so I did the first thing that comes to mind. reboot. But sadly, this solved nothing. So of course I re-flash my touchwiz ROM to see if the ROM was the problem. And the Touchwiz camera worked perfectly. Later on when I had time, I tested it out again, and had the same problem. So I downloaded a camera app, and same thing. I even flashed a different Camera.zip for God's sake! I've searched for the past week for fixes and every one I tried just failed! So now I'm really done with Touchwiz and want to customize the look and feel of my phone (which is one of the reasons I like AOKP!)
It seems that my camera only works on Touchwiz ROMs! :crying:
I also tried another ROM this time running 4.1.2 thinking maybe it was just a bug in 4.2! But sadly, the same error message.
I am open to ANY ideas right now and would be very thankful for some replys.
I NEED TO GET OFF OF TOUCHWIZ AND BACK TO 4.2!
Thank you as always!
EDIT: So I think I figured out the problem. I was flashing a 4.2 camera .zip file and i guess it was messing up the permissions. So I disabled it. Now it is working perfectly so far. Yesterday i switched over to a 4.1.2 ROM hoping it would fix it and so then i flashed this 4.2 camera and then after about a day of use, it messed up the permissions.
So to fix it if anyone is have that problem, disable the camera app you flashed, reboot into recovery, ADVANCED - FIX PERMISSIONS
all done.

If I uninstall gallery apk which is including camera aaplication, how I will make a shoot ?
hye
actually, what application did you dissable?from the touchwiz or the custom rom?
well, it works for me, thanks a lot dude.
This is a file permissions problem, between the camera and the gallery apps. It is fixable, I had the ability to force a 'fix permissions on boot' in init.d, but are various ways to do it.

So I have been running CM10 nightlies since they first came out for the I9100int.
Been loving them, they seem to work really well, however last night I started getting the error, "android keyboard (aosp) has stopped working"
Fortunately I have a second keyboard to use, but I was wondering if anyone else has had this error.
I cannot seem to find much about it anywhere, so I figured Ill ask the source.
I have cleared the keyboard cache, but that doesnt make any difference.
The last time this happened I had to do a full flash and I was hoping to avoid that.
even reverting to a backup hasnt seemed to fix it, so Im not sure if my backup had the issue too.
anyways, just thought Id throw this out there for any help.
Otherwise Id like to give a HUGE thanks to all the developers with this project, I love my S2 more and more with constant updates they provide.
Go into menu/system/apps and find android keyboard asop and CLEAR DATA Then do the same for Dictionary Provider and CLEAR DATA.

On my Galaxy Note N7000 after an install of the current nightly CM10, some weeks later I get this message and the only way I can fix it is with a Factory Reset/wipe. This has happened a few times now. From the Settings app, I can get into System/Apps but there are no options like you mention above . .
It would be nice not to have to use the Factory Reset/wipe method . . is there a way of using your method on the N7000?
Thanks,
Phil.

When you go setting/apps, make sure you swipe to the right so it says ALL at the top, not just downloaded, they're in there. I just had the same error hence my search here. Following the advice above worked for me on cyanogen mod

Same problem here. I just flashed the Provision JB ROM and right away I can't use my keyboard at all. I cleared the data for the AOSP keyboard but I can't find the dictionary app.
same problem.. no dictionary provider. keyboards keeps on crashing (phone is Sk17i so bug is not related to phone itself)!
I've the same issue, even i can't type any letter !
I've cleared the data for Android keyboard ( from settings/apps.. ) , but it didn't work with me!
Also i can't find Directory provider in apps.
So, what to do?
I use SGT-P3100.
BRGRDS
I solved it by using gapps-jb-20120726-signed.zip
I faced the same issue yesterday when I installed cm10. I have xperia mini pro sk17i.
After a lot of trial and error, I solved the error doing:
wiping cache partition
factory reset
installing cm10 rom
installing gapps one version older: gapps-jb-20120726-signed.zip (I am new and unable to post a link, just google it.)
The main takeaway - use the older gapps and after install, update them using market. Maybe just doing this will solve the problem for you.
PS. I am using extender kernel by M66B
Even though I'm using the latest nightly for the samsung galaxy nexus I ran into this same issue. Cleared data for android keyboard but as others couldnt find the data dictionary so since I use a 3rd party keyboard anyways, I went back into android keyboard and disabled it. No more error for me, hope that helps.
The solution to this seems that the newes Gapps Version for JB is not compatible with 4.1.x. http://wiki.rootzwiki.com/Google_Apps#20121130.
So if your using Android 4.1.2 you have to stay with gapps 20121011.
20121130 is for Android 4.2 only. In that case a bad choice to stay with JB for the new release, as this cannot easyly be seen in the name of the zip package..
If you already installed 20121130 it should be sufficient to reinstall ROM and after that gapps version 20121011. If that doen't work you need to wipe..

No luck, I needed to install a 3rd party keyboard. Strangely, the same method (flash rom+gapps) worked on a friend's phone.
Press THANKS button if this guide helps you.
Since we know that CM9 RC2 is too buggy, we are forced to use RC1 instead, until its fixed by Wayland.
This is just for you guys stop once for all asking about etas and other stuff anoying.
Please, after read this, dont make any question about camera, kernel updates or deep sleep.
Follow this and get the RC1 ROM from Maclaw working with 100% camera from RC2, but without its bugs like GPS and Bluetooth not working, SDEXT not recognized etc...
BEFORE you start flashing this, make sure you have enough space on system/app, because libs and camera app from RC2 are bigger than RC1's. Delete some ringtones you dont use or some apps. The same for kernel, the dev says about 4~5 MB free space, i recommend about 7MB, for kernel and camera app. (delete the CMWallpapers apk, it has 7,04MB, and im sure you dont use it)
1st, download Maclaw's CM9 RC1 ROM
DOWNLOAD
If you already have it, skip this step, if you dont, make a full wipe then flash it. Reboot your phone.
2nd, download Nims Kernel 2.1 with Camera app and libs fully fixed from RC2
DOWNLOAD
You don't need to mount this, just flash it. After flash, reboot your phone. If everything was right, the screen "Updating/Starting Apps" should appear. When the system starts, test the Camera app, it should start normally, if you get some FC screen, or "Cannot conect the camera" message, try to re-open the app. This message will appear sometimes, even in 3rd party apps, like Instagram, but is just you re-open it.
3rd, download the lastest Nims Kernel available
DOWNLOAD version 2.2.1 for ICS ROM
This ZIPs files are from this thread, i just put them together for make it easier for you guys.
I'm not responsable if it bricks your phone.
For me and a lot of people it works.
this was what I needed, now I'll change to ics again and finally I definitely thank you very much

Very good work
Well just tried all the steps above but sadly it isn't working .
After I flashed nim's 2.1 kernel the phone boot into system upgrading screen and stuck there , I did a restart and the phone got stuck on a boot loop.
Flashing nim's 2.2 kernel after that didn't helped either ..
Please explain the procedure in more details.
Thanks Devs!

You might do something wrong...
you dont need to mount system for flashing this zips....
Try to make a full wipe and flash RC1 again, reboot as normal. After that flash cam app and libs with nims kernel 2.1. Reboot again.
Then flash Nims kernel 2.2
Just for guarantee, after you wipe install RC1, delete somethings you dont use in system/app, because cam app is biggest than RC1's.
Some screens of this working properly
Nice tips, thanks. Can I ask you a question??? Does this ROM drains battery much??? The last time I use it, it drains like hell. I need to know if it still drains battery so I can apply your tips

Well got this thing working , Thanks @jmendes.
Edit : After using this ROM for a while I found out that deep sleep isn't working .. ( google location was off )
For me deep sleep works until i take some 5 pics... after that the camera stops and i need to re-open it. Then deep sleep sucks as well :c

ROM stays unchanged. If you had use RC1 when it was out, it keeps the same way. Obviously, battery will drain faster than CM7, but it just need some adjustments by the devs, hope itll fixed in Wayland's release
It might even "work" (not sure if the need for closing and re-opening the camera app several times means fully working...) but I doubt the quality of the pictures will be as good as in a GB based ROM.
For me or anyone who uses the camera sometimes and don't want crappy quality pictures, any ICS or JB ROM shouldn't be considered for now. In fact, without OpenMax drivers I guess we'll never see camera working properly on Galaxy Ace running ICS and JB

Jesus Christ! Fully working for our situation means a app who opens and take a photo with auto focus, flash working properly, with all configurations available with a gallery without bugs AND apps 3rd party accessing camera drivers! It's known that it has a lot of bugs, but its better than an app that just take pictures and break deep sleep resource. Everybody knows that OpenMax drivers wont be release for us, and a camcoder wont be available either, bbut they are really working hard to give us a decent camera. The quality is the same on GB. As you said, "shouldnt be considered for now" so dont use it. If you think it's not worth it, stay with your 2.3 version.

Hmm, you said that flash is working properly ... is the LED working for flashlight apps as well in this ROM ? Last time I tested CM9, it wasn't working and flashlight is very very useful, can't live without it. If yes, I'll try it.
By "camera working properly" I meant taking photos with good quality, and auto-focus and flash both working. That is enough. I did'nt say "fully working".

Go until Wayland's CM9 topic and you will see that for this he will need to put a modified app for flashlight working. But still works.
And yes, the quality keeps as in GB. With auto focus, flash and cam modes working rightly
Hello Guys.
So it all started with me, flashing my first custom rom, the SamsungS4CHD something like that..
It worked fine.. tho it did have a few bugs. At first it didn't recognize my SIM Card.
Secondly, and MAINLY, i noticed that the camera was dark greenish.. and the moment i pressed snap.
Boom, Hanged. And i had to force close it, and then when I restarted, I got the error- Can't Connect to Camera.
No third party apps did the trick, so I flashed the TurboHD Rom and it worked flawlessly.
Then I wanted to try Fly116, and I did, and I was greeted with the same problem.
It struck me that the s4 rom and the fly116 both had 13 mp cameras while the turbohd has an 8mp camera.
Please help me out, this bug is killing me :/
I've searched and searched with no luck..
Reply soon guys..

hi sir. sorry forgot to include. i am just using stock rom. i tried installing that cyanogen app, but cant figure out on how to install a custom ROM, phone not supported,
So if you're on stock the cyanogen camera won't do the trick. I know it sounds redundant but have you restarted your phone or downloading a 3rd party camera?

Greetings.
I didn't want to spam this thread with a useless "thank you" post but it's pretty quiet around here anyway so what the hey. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! This is seriously freaking awesome. I was convinced development for the Burst was going to die with that final build of SlimBean. It feels so nice to be running KitKat (way to go, 4.4.4!) on this tiny little guy who refuses to die. That bug with the test build where opening SnapChat caused a kernel panic seems to be completely gone, so thanks for taking away my excuse for ignoring my SnapChat account lol. The battery life leaves much to be desired but I'm pretty sure that's the phone and not the ROM. Thank you so much again, this is excellent work :highfive:

We must not forget that the device has a battery of 1600mA, for this reason it is normal that the the device have a short battery life.
There is always the possibility of purchasing an extra battery with external charger.
Greetings.
You're right of course and this is a great rom. I apologize if it came off like I was complaining or criticizing, this is great work and I'm utterly grateful to have cm11 on my old Burst.
Thank you mifl for cm11.
First of all thanks to all devs for cm11.
I am loving it by far.
Now on topic. I have two questions-
1). Is there any app that can control vibration intensity of phone, nothing from playstore works.?
DU rom from marduk have it inbuilt and works flawlessly but rom has bugs of wifi tethering, Bluetooth and random restart. I rely on tethering heavily so i am on cm11. Is there anyway i could get it on cm11?
2). Anyone facing any random restarts.?? I faced some random restarts recently when using multiple tabs of UCbrowser. Though i wasnt able to catch anything from log. I will post if it happens next time.
3). It is taking too much time to charge if handset is kept on usage.?? Well mine does. But charger is of samsung (.7A)..
Thanks for sharing this great Rom.
God bless you.
Thanks.

First the rom is not my property. It is compiled from PantechDevTeam repositories.
If you want to get the DU version, you must wait to be released this compilation or you compile DU from marduk191 repositories.
Of the mistakes you've written would be important you will provide a log, to study errors.
Greetings.
Find a 1.0 A charger, it still won't be ideal but I think you'll notice improvement
Thank you for replying. I tried using Asus zenphone 5 charger of 1.25A it worked great.
Glad I could help. If I remember correctly it was your comments on the old CM 10 thread that originally led me to Slim Bean, which was a great improvement back on jelly bean. So thank you too lol
I have found a way to lower the intensity of vibration feedback of buttons..
You will need to decompile framework-res.apk and have to look for values. Xml in res folder some where at last there will be line <integer-array name="config_keyboardTapVibePattern"> Just change its value to suitable. Recompile and flash. Btw i am using value "2" instead of 40.
Thanks.

Issues Installing Custom Firmware
First of all, thanks for all your work on Burst development. Here's my issue. I installed ICS from the Pantech website and then rooted my phone a year or two ago with "The Burst Hack Tools" mentioned in the instructions. I found the instructions to install custom firmware and tried installing CM11. Everything seemed to be going fine until I restarted my phone. I upgraded CWM to 6.0.2.7 touch version and retried. Same result. The third time I thought I may have forgot to wipe the cache so I was sure to do that. Same result. Question: Do I need to do a clean install of stock 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich before intalling CM11? Thanks for your help.

We must not forget that the device has a battery of 1600mA, for this reason it is normal that the the device have a short battery life.
There is always the possibility of purchasing an extra battery with external charger.

I've had good luck with this battery: Onite 1800mAh Battery for Pantech Burst P9070. Found on Amazon. I do notice the 200 mAh difference.

Thanks for the directions. I flashed the latest version of CWM and reinstalled CM11. It has been working great. The only issue I've noticed is that if I turn off the phone and turn it back on, apps that have been moved to the external SD card "disappear". They are still there, I just have to add the icons back. From what I've read, this is a problem with Android? Any suggestions on how to fix it?

This is a known bug in the code of Android 4.4. I think this can be solved with Xposed Module:

So I installed Exposed from here: http://dl-xda.xposed.info/modules/de.robv.android.xposed.installer_v33_36570c.apk
Then I installed HandleExternalStorage from the Play store: Play Store: http://tinyurl.com/nnajr7f
I went into Exposed and enabled HandleExternalStorage. Then rebooted. Icons dissapeared.
I uninstalled a couple of apps that were on the SD and reinstalled. Rebooted. Still missing
Icons. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Volume wake
Please excuse my ignorance but how can one set wake on volume keys? Its a small detail that is driving me crazy.
