I use Windows Media Center and Remote Potato to stream both recorded and live tv to my Prime... I actually use it quite often while camping if I have 4g coverage with my Atrix. I create a wifi hotspot with the atrix, then connect my Prime to the tv via HDMI then crank up the Remote Media Center app and away we go... AT&T didn't like the data usage during football season, but went over 5GB only once (unlimited data plan).

I'll have to give that a shot. My All In Wonder HD hasn't worked since upgrading to Windows 8, but I'll work my magic.

[Q] Best way to stream Hulu to my TV?

Looking for creative ways to get Hulu on my tv.
I am open to ANY suggestion, but to keep it relevant to this section I need to know methods involving either the Vibrant or Android also.
Thanks!
Do you prefer free or paid? There's alot of paid options, but there are free options as well.

Do you have like a Blu-Ray player? you know the ones with Netflix etc? Or a PS3/Xbox?
best option and its very easy!! if u have a pc just download playon its a media server. So if u have a wd media player or a wii, 360 or ps3 then log onto the media server on any of those, it supports many other devices too. U can watch netflix or hulu or many many other channels on there.
theres a android app too
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.playon.playonapp&feature=search_result
pc
http://www.playon.tv/playon
very easy and simple and once u get the android app u can watch netflix or hulu from ur playon on ur phone over 3g or wifi. Works great thats how i do it.
wow, I had heard playon, but did NOT realize it was on Android.
Can I then use TV out to my tv, from my vibrant? I mean, it gets wifi.. if the signal is good for the server, seems like that would work. Phone has flash.. hulu work on our phones?
hulu works on some phones but it works on all phones through playon i think. i know i get hulu and netflix very easily.
Alright, sounds like my Vibrant + PlayOn is the way to go.
Any other options that I am missing though?
3 months ago we canceled comcast services and picked up at&t u_verse Internet (tv not in our area yet) and the Roku HD box. Netflix/Amazon/hulu+ and lots more. Our kids use wii's for netflix. It's a switch not having regular tv but we really don't miss it, I prefer it this way.

Use HDMI and DLNA to mirror movies without cable

I was curious to find out how the hdmi works with our phones so when I went to the sprint store the get my defender case swapped out for a commuter case, I asked about it. Basically DLNA(Digital Living Network Alliance) allows for a person to easily share their videos, music, and photos. I never knew our phones had this feature, so I download the "Double Twist" player app(its free) and "Air Sync" (its not free, you can figure out which way you want to get it) and when you open double twist, go to settings>air twist & air play and check the box next to it. Now if you have an internet cable tv, xbox 360, or ps3, you can stream and mirror your movies on their with NOOOO LAG!!!!!! You can also view your pics and stream your music as well. I love this feature. I thought I'd share.
Doesn't the phones "Media Share" application do the same thing?
Or are these programs better than that?

Yes, very well too... You don't need any program...

However, as of right now we are limited to formats that the hardware support. Hopefully RockPlayer or Vplayer will include this ability so that any movie format can be streamed.
Is it possible to mirror what is on the device using DLNA and Media Share? If so, how can it be done?

It's just a preference. With double twist you use it as a media player also on the go. Being able to share media is a big plus and that's what matters.
Sorry if I was unclear. What I mean by "what's on the device" is complete mirroring. (being able to see everything that is being done on the device)
I would like to be able to do that over some sort of wireless connection to my TV.

The EVO3D does do full mirroring.
Maybe not over DLNA but it does over HDMI.

Really?!?! You just made my day.
If you don't have an Evo 3D, well you don't have an Evo 3D.
DLNA doesn't give mirroring. Think of it more like turning your phone into a media server. It doesn't play the media on the server, but rather is just a host so your other devices can stream the media to them.
I've used DLNA already quite a bit through my ASUS O!Play HD2. There is a little bit of delay in starting the media, but everything streams smooth once it starts.
Anyone know how to do this with a Samsung TV with All Share? I spent some time last night but couldn't get it to work. My TV can't see my phone and vice versa. But my laptop can see my phone and play its content.

Yes, I had a Samsung led 3D, swapped it for an LG passive 3D. Go into the media share app while connected to WiFi and check the box to share your media. Check music, pics, and videos. Now go to "set shared folders" and pick the folders off your EVO 3D you want to share. While on all share on the t.v. while connected to.the same network it will find your phone. If not, don't use the all share app on t.v. just go to the media play app and it will be there. Or. On phone go to connected devices app, choose the media you want to share and then your t.v. and it will play if its supported content.

[Q] MyNet feature

Has anyone here tried the "MyNet" feature of the tablet to control a computer through your tablet? How do you like it?
I'd like to take advantage of that for websites which stream video but are not compatible with mobile browsers of any kind. It would probably require being on the same wifi network but either way, pretty neat.
BTW, I love my Prime!! Got the issue with gps signal capture but I got my cell phone to direct me if I'm lost in my car.

The app is called splashtop. I believe there are a couple of threads talking about this application. Just to let you know there is a THD version that is up on the market now that works better and faster then the bundled version though it costs money. I am using it now and can connect to my home computer from work and its super fast. I love it. Use it at work all the time during meetings to connect to my desktop. The bundled version will close the connection on you due to a bug in that version. The THD version does not have this issue.
Just my 3 cents.

actually hes talking about the MyNet app that comes with the prime
its not a desktop mirroring tool it just allows streaming of media (pics videos music) to the prime from a pc
its actually pretty cool in how well it does it but it can stream MKVs though
It also allows the downloading of the files from the pc to the prime...its a nice way of moving files without having to plug in or use a sd card or dropbox
i wish it allowed folder downloading or multiple downloading rather than having to do a single file at a time.
Yeah, the MyNet app is a DLNA app for streaming media between DLNA devices. To me it seemed to be a decent proof of concept app, but I have found three apps that do a better job: 2player, BubbleUPnP, and iMediaShare.
iMediaShare can stream from several internet sources to your DLNA devices, but it's unfortunately still not optimized for tablets. It forces you into portrait mode.
For streaming music from my Prime to my blu-ray/stereo, I typically use BubbleUPnP.

Well when you read the op he states talking about controlling your laptop.....was confusing.....i use MovieBrowser UPnP.....just love the way it organizes the movies.......
So Op, sorry for the confusion.
I've used both apps and had good success with them.
I really like the MyNet app though as its a simple program that lets my stream movies/tv shows from my NAS to the TV in my bedroom. No more lugging the laptop up the stairs and clearing a space to put it!

Are you sure you mean the mynet app or do you the splashtop hd remote pc access function in the my cloud app?
From reading your poast I think that you mean teh My desktop feature in the my cloud app which is splashtop HD remote app which links up with a splashtop streamer app on your PC !! and this does not require you to be on the same wifi connection...I often use it to connect to my pc when away from home to check on email accounts etc
I'm sorry, it is the "mycloud" icon on the screen that I meant. From there you find the "my desktop" option which uses splashtop.
i know it is off topic....but i have used PhoneMyPC for years. love it. great app for controlling your various PCs from your android.
Loving mynet, works flawless with all my gizmos. Sitting waiting for someone to start using cornerstone in a rom and i will use it as my main tv interface.

[Q] make my ps3 or tv recognize and play media from my phone over wifi

My PS3 and my smart tv pickup my windows computer over wifi enabling me to show pictures music and videos on it. Im assuming this is a windows feature that allows it to show up like that. Is there any type of app that can fake the tv I to thinking my phone is a wi dows media?
I may be using wrong technology terms here but hope what I am saying makes sense
Hey,
There are many apps for that in Google Play, the technology is called "DLNA", just look for that in Google Play.
I use imediashare for displaying videos and pictures on my Sony TV. But with this app you normally send your media to the TV, and not the other way round.
Just try it!

I sideloaded the latest version of the Xfinity TV app version 3.1.0.014
The app does not support proper navigation with android tv remote as it is intended to be used on a touch interface.
You can however connect a mouse via USB OTG and use the app. I have watched around an hour of TV on the app and did not have any major issues.
It is a little buggy at times exiting and re-entering the app and I have had a force close but it is usable.
Once they update for Android TV support I will be very happy. (I am hoping they update for Android TV support. I haven't found any information to say they are for sure.)

Comcast released another app update today. Hopefully it didn't break things for you, let me know how it goes, I am thinking about getting a Nexus Player for this app. I doubt they will ever support Android TV, they would be losing $10 per month from folks who are currently renting their own comcast boxes for additional TVs.

I just uninstalled the previous version and installed the new version 3.1.1.019
I am not noticing any changes and it still seems to be working fine.
I have a keyboard/mouse combo connected to the Nexus Player that I use to navigate in the app which is a little clunky but does work.
I am watching some On Demand on it right now with no issues.

has anyone figured out why the Xfinity TV app closes or how to fix this I have the newest version installed on my nexus player and on my nvidia shield and on both devices the app closes after about 10 minutes of watching a live or on demand show and goes back to the Home screen? On my fire stick the app doesn't close but I get other playback error on live channels. The TV to Go app works 100% on my correctly it never closes but it lacks a channel guide and DVR abilities so I would rather use the X1 TV app instead. any suggestions on how to get the app to stop closing back to the home screen?
as a side note for those trying to find a controller solution, I use a QQ-Tech Mini Bluetooth Keyboard W Touch pad for Android OS Windows from Amazon for about 20 bucks. I use this for all 3 of my boxes to control the Xfinity TV and TV to Go apps it works grate its about 7 inches long so about the size of a TV remote. mine is rechargeable with a light up keyboard. this will also make using Chrome and other sideloaded apps on Android TV so much easier to use.

Understood, i refuse to get X1 because right now i pay 80 Bucks for 150 Channels + HBO and 75Megabit Internet. I don't need a DVR made by them, nor do i need anything else they deem fancy. I wouldn't have Comcast at all if i could have the option, but they are the fastest within 100 feet of my location. Lot of OTA DVR Options Exist, some are like 10-15 Years Old. (The PSX Console was a PS2 with built in DVR if that says anything). i Have a hacked Roamio i use to record stuff.

The Xfinity TV app (not TV Go) works, but sometimes looses track of the "Home" network.
We are using a friend's login info to test it- Our 2 NP's both have M 6.0.
It will not work out of the box hardwired for channels you have not viewed before- i.e on your "previously viewed channels" list, prompts you to use your cellular data connection, but has an "allow just this time" link that will let it through a LAN.
Seems the TV (not TV Go) app keeps track of the WiFi connections and designates one a "Home".
I have renamed my 2 access points the same name, with same SSID and passwords- it worked great for a day, then started locking me out of new channels.
ES FileExplorer lets you ftp into the NP with the LAN---> Remote Manager, so I will be copying the X-TV data over and see if that works.
As a side note- I will be testing the TV Go app found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63688527&postcount=39
I found this Rii that works quite well for the NP in general, and the trackpad seems very good to me, especially double-tap, hold and swipe.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B9996LA/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=
I wanted a 2.4 ghz romo, because I read many comments about BT sleeping issues.
The rest of my setup has this hub-
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OCBXIY8/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=
and this UBS to RJ-45 adapter.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JWXTOIA/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=
All work with the NP
**Edit**
Sytanek's app mod at the link above works excellent on our stock NP with M 6.0.1
Can anyone confirm the apps still work on our NPs as of today?
I am moving and the place I am heading to doesn't have other options but Comcast... this would be great in cutting some of those "rental fees" on additional cable boxes.
I can't get Xfinity TV to work on my Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 with cyan 13.0....just buffers then returns
I need little help here. I installed the app and when i click get started it redirects to dolphin browser and when i log in i get some error message. I can't get this app working.
