[Q] multi-channel USB audio - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm experimenting with writing an app that uses AudioTrack to play audio (for purposes of testing, sine waves generated within the app) from my Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II to my ESI U46XL USB audio interface. It works perfectly in stereo mode, but when I initialize AudioTrack with CHANNEL_OUT_5POINT1 and attempt to feed it a 6-channel stream, the sound that plays back doesn't sound anything like that stream.
I'm suspecting that the USB audio driver is the problem, since anything higher-level would also impose its limitations on the HDMI audio, wouldn't it? Google says that "Android 4.1 supports multichannel audio on devices that have hardware multichannel audio out through the HDMI port." But can anyone confirm my suspicion? I was also thinking maybe the 16-bit interleaved PCM format isn't used for > 2 channels, but I've tried every other format I can think of with no luck.
I'm hoping the problem is anywhere except for the USB audio driver, because then I can bypass whatever it is one way or another.

[Q] Surround sound problem?

I have a CT802 Idea USA tablet running Android 4.0.3. It is rooted.
Whenever I try to play a video (using any media player program including but not limited to the built-in one), the audio is weird--the volume is relatively low *and* the voices are almost nonexistent--what I get is almost all music. This is only a problem when I have something connected to the headphone jack--it does not happen with the built-in speaker.
If I plug the jack partly in, it is possible to get it into a position where it plays the sound properly.
My theory is that it's somehow falsely detecting surround sound output (but is not detecting it when I have the jack partly in), and when it does so, I'm only getting the left and right channels. I would like to know:
1) Is there any way I can prove this?
2) Is there some setting buried in some file that I can use to disable surround sound completely?
It turned out that the problem was caused by having earbuds with a built-in microphone. Both of the ones I tried had a microphone. When I bought another pair without a microphone, sound was okay.
It's still a problem, however. How do I keep it from doing this? There are no system settings whatsoever related to microphones, and I have no idea how to disable the microphone or otherwise tell it to treat the earbuds as a normal set of earbuds.

Audio on wired & wireless (A2DP) headphones simultaneously

Hello! I would like to ask, is that possible (at least theoretically) to get working steaming audio to wireless and wired headphones simultaneously [Android 4]? It doesn't matter, if you steam the whole system sound or just sound of single program (for example music player). The idea is to get audio output on 2 devices at the same time. If that is not possible, can anyone confirm possibility to steam audio using A2DP to 2 separate headsets? I've met some old devices (for example samsung cell phones on their own OS) which allowed to select multiple bluetooth devices as clients and steam music from the player simultaneously to multiple headsets. Thanks for your opinion and interest!
No chances to get this working?
Still no solution for this?

Bluetooth and multi-room

Straight to it, I have two questions, looking for a technical or marketing explanation:
1) Since the Chromecast has BT hardware, and it is likely not hardware disabled since some report it showing up on their BT scans, why doesn't Google enable BT functionality?
2) The Chromecast V2 and Chromecast Audio have the same internals but different sports. Assuming processing power isn't the issue, why can't Google enable multi room for audio streams on Chromecast? GPM, SoundCloud, YouTube, etc. Or make one video and one audio. Or even let you do a V2 + and Audio.

SGS3 i747 Audio Problem

I'm having an issue with my S3. I believe it's more software related.
Whenever I plug in a 3.5mm audio jack, all audio is cut from the device completely and the audio doesn't stream through the jack.
To regain audio I have to do a reboot.
Any idea how to fix this issue, and to get my headphones working properly?
Running cm13.0-20160413-UNOFFICIAL-d2att
((I've had this same issue with previous ROMs))
UPDATE: I found this app called "SoundAbout" which re routes audio on the android device and I was able to get sound from my headphone.
Why would I need an app thou.. When the device should be able to re route audio on its own.

Audio passthrough (DTS, Dolby Digital)

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has managed to get Audio Passthrough working. So if you've got a movie file which has DTS or Dolby Digital sound, and you connect your phone with a HDMI dongle to your Audio receiver which can process DTS or Dolby Digital, to actually get surround sound out of it.
I've tried VLC and MX player, none worked. If I connect the exact same equipment to my laptop, it does work. So it must be either the video apps or the phone. I've tried multiple settings in the apps (of course I've enabled audio passthrough), didn't change anything.
Any help on this?
Thanks!

Alright but that's no surround sound. You're using a DAC which outputs stereo sound to a 3.5mm jack and a stereo headphones ...
I asking same question, do you find the solution now? I want to use smartphone to do audio passthrough to amplifier
