Hello, Im trying to set back my old phone to factory.
Its a Samsung Vibrant (obviously)
I used odin and I was able to push all files successfully.
My problem is that when it finished I got the "E:Cant open /sdcardupdate.zip" error.
This means that the Update.zip was deleted or moved or renamed.
My problem now is that since the phone is no longer "rooted".
How do I push the Update.zip to my phone now? x_x
I have the drivers installed for the phone, but when I go to "My Computer" - the drives are transparent and unable to open.
(sorry I just realized I posted this in the wrong section)
Try using Baywolf's AIO toolbox for vibrant. You could search for it in the forum.
Good luck.
I tried it but the problem is that it requires me to have my phone on "USB Debug Mode" - But having no ROM makes this impossible x_x
So it won't boot after you odined to stock? Did you use the correct "stock" Odin files?
And FYI, this belongs in q&a.

Yeah, It will hang on boot after the T-Mobile logo > S
I just get a black screen. - the phone is on though.
Pressing volume down and power takes me to the original recovery options.
-Reboot system now
-Reinstall packages
-Delete all user data
-Delete cache data
Ive tried plenty of different Vibrant Odin files, none seem to work.

The phone was rooted in the past.
I've flashed hundreds of ROMs on it.
But when I was flashing 4.2.1 it started acting weird and I would constantly get "No service" (cant make calls or text).
A few years back when I first started rooting it and flashing, I remember deleting the update.zip from the phone for space.
I moved it to my SD card.
Now when I went to Odin trying to set the phone back to factory, I got myself into the trouble Im on.
I used the PIT and TAR files on those treads.
Tried many of them, ran hundreds of md5 checks.
Ive been trying to fix it for 3 weeks now.

Ok, that really didn't answer my question... but here ya go.
You need to Odin back to JFD with Pit 512 and make sure re-partition is checked in Odin.
You can get the Odin files you need from my Bionix rom thread with some directions or from here LINK

Seems the problem is you not using a GB Bootloader... needed for JB v4.2.1... but not good of Eclair v2.1 JFD
Here, Odin this LINK ... stock Vibrant bootloader
... make sure Re-partition, Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time are unchecked.
After the Odin finishes, hold in the power button for 10 sec to reboot.

Moved to Q&A out of Development.
@OP, I have a bunch of files in my Repo thread stickied in the Dev section if you need them. Stock JFD, CWR update.zip, Gingerbread bootloaders,...
Fish and Gunny thanks for helping.
I applied the patch (MD5) you linked and same problem presists.
Maybe I patched it wrong, How exactly would I go about it on Odin?
I tried patching it instead of the TAR file under PDA.
I used PIT where PIT is supposed to be.
sorry for my ignorance.
After I flashed this Im no longer able to go into Download.
All I get is the "Charging Icon" if I try to go into download mode with USB cable connected.
If I try to go to download mode without connecting it to the PC (just pressing Volume UP and POWER) I get an error I never seen before.
RST_STAT = 0x1

At this point, can you refresh me on what you've done, be specific, and what your phone is doing. Thanks
I know its frustrating but I feel we can get you straight.
Id est quod est
- I had my phone rooted in the past, I had errors so I tried to find radio fixes. Things didn't work well so I decided to bring it back to stock firmware.
1 - Used Odin with PIT: s1_odin_20100512.pit
2 - Used Odin with TAR: T959UVJFD.tar
Odin flashed and gave out these results:

I tried to update my galaxy tab to 3.2 version using the software update menu of the tab (did not use odin or recovery manager). Before, I was using the Starburst ROM.
The updating process did not finish and now when I try to turn on my tab it does not do anything and when I try to charge it it does not display the battery charging icon.
Anything I can do to fix it?
Edit: Managed to display the samsung logo and then blank screen (but the screen is on) and when connected to PC Odin discovers it. Anything I should try here?
If the device is recognized in odin then attempt to flash a stock image.

Just go to www.samfirmware.com. In the tablet section you will find all the firmwares and tutorials. You will have to register though.

One of the threads on this topic should be stickied.
Just want to make everything clear before I go on. My screen is blank (but still on). I am not in real recovery mode but odin detects my tab (possibly because its stuck on installation of 3.2). Is it safe to go on? I do not care about the data on the tab but I do care about its functionality

Just wondering, why would you update to the official 3.2 update after running a custom rom? You should always wait for the rom to update with the latest otherwise.

my computer will recognize my tab in odin, but which file do i use? i am pretty new to this and am a quick learner... any help?
Hey all,
Phone went into download mode two nights ago. No clue how. couldnt get out of it. talked to at&t and they said i tried to root it which i certainly did up to that point.
Long story short, I get home and use odin to get ICS on there and may have completely screwed up my phone. I have tried many of the threads/stickies which seem to keep sending me in a loop.
Here is whats on my download screen: ODIN MODE Product name: GT-i9100 Custom Binary download: yes(4 counts) Current Binary: Custom
I tried to follow @Entropy512 thread but to no avail. I am stuck on the AT&T loading screen.
I have also tried to follow the "Recovering an ATT Galaxy S2 after flashing GT-I9100 Firmware" and still no good.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1294574
IDK what I am doing wrong, or where I am not reading.
PLEASE HELP. I FEEL LOST WITHOUT MY PHONE. ITS BEEN ONE WHOLE DAY! (no but seriously, i feel my life is a mess cuz no phone)
Yeah flashing i9100 firmware effs your phone up

Did you use the one-click downloader? And which version did you use, the one from the return to stock guide, or the one from the Download Repository? If you didn't use the one from the Download Repository, which contians the bootloaders and param lfs, then you should first try to flash that, since you almost certainly flashed I9100 bootloaders and param onto your phone.

Oh yeah. there's a lot to do.
You can start by reading and reading before getting that JiG so you don't eff more your phone!
Try this.
With your phone off and unplugged. Enter download mode by pressing and holding the power and volume down buttons and plugging on the USB cable before the lights blink.

Follow the guide you linked, except refer to step 3 special problems, and go to the Download Repository and get the version of the stock rom that contains bootloaders and param.lfs. Your flashcounter says you have flashed the I9100 secondary bootloader, so the package you flash needs to replace that and the others from I9100.
If i remember, you already flashed that? and it failed? yes, well if it fails again, try flashing the separate parts individually, starting with the param.lfs, then sbl.bin.
just picked up jig....
and its not working....
used 3 100ohm 1watt resistors from radio shack...
tried to connect to 4th and 5th pin from my understanding they are on the right side of the stripped down mini usb plug....nothing happend
phone was off...held the jig for about 10 seconds...nada
turned phone into ODIN Mode....held jig for about 10 seconds...nada....
where am I going wrong...seemed so simple from the instructions...
My dude a jig has a mini usb connector that you plug in to the usb.... Not something you hold to the pins... If you get get in to DL mode you don't need the jig... Give me a few I will get on my computer and try to help you. Just put your phone down and take a deep breath. You are going to need to flash all the files one by one let me do some reading I will try to give you step by step instructions.... HOLD TIGHT

Creepy, if you can help him please do.... Can you tell him what files go in what slots... You're the best either way.....

I've never made a jig so I don't know how hard it is to touch the right contacts in the microusb socket. But 1 watt resistors have fairly large diameter wire leads which would make it harder, I think. What you need to make your own jig is 1/4 watt resistors with the highest tolerance rating you can get. There are multiple threads about building a jig. if you google for them, you'll get better info than I am giving you.
But snipe2nite is right... the only thing a jig does is put you into download mode, and clear the flash counter. So, if you can get into download mode the standard way using the volume keys and usb cable, then you really don't need the jig, as far as I know. Don't know what task was talking about earlier, really.
As far as flashing the individual parts, the instructions are in the Download Repository. Only param.lfs and secondary bootloader are available as .tar's. They should go into the PDA slot in Odin3.
It's also remotely possible that the i9100 package you flashed screwed up the partition table. In that case, there is a PIT file in the Download Repository which can be put into the PIT slot in Odin3 when flashing the full package. I have the .tar package on my hard disk which I can make a dropbox link for if you need it.
Or you could use Heimdall command line to flash it, using the files available in the Download Repository. You'll need to get the correct command line arguments since I don't have that for flashing with PIT.
I have a Galaxy S3 16GB, and it seems I have been hit by the sudden death bug.
Phone got into a bootloop after 6 months of usage.
I did a KIES Firmwar recovery, and it failed at 60%.
I assume the NAND is defective there and cannot be written.
I just now tried to flash the 4.1.2 stock ROM through odin, and it fails again after flashing ca. 50% of system.img
Any idea of how this could be still remedied somehow?
eg. repartitioning to only use 8GB?

How??
Kies stops after 60%, and Odin also stops after flashing 50% of system.img!!
It seems as if both cannot write past a defective NAND sector!!

First, stay calm. When you write things like "How brah???!!! IT NOT WORKING!!!!!" it just feels like you're attacking me verbally. Which I most certainly hope you're not.
Now. Check these few steps, then report back:
Do you have all necessary drivers installed?
Is your device fully charged?
Are you using USB 2.0 or 3.0?
What operating system are you using?
When flashing via Odin: Is Kies completely shut down? (No processes must be running!)
Are you flashing a ROM which is designed for your device?
What version of Android were you using before this happened?
Do you have a custom recovery installed?
Answer these questions before you start speculating.

No need. It's happened so often to me..
Sammys are pretty much un-brickable. I've seen one entire person in the XDA-forums that has managed to brick his device and that, that got me scared.
But.. nah. I've pulled the battery in the middle of a flash via Odin and recovery, I've pulled out the USB cable while flashing and nothing has ever happened.
But what I guess this guy's doing wrong is either using USB 3.0, or Kies is open in the background, where it shouldn't be. In fact, it shouldn't be anywhere on the hard drive :laugh:

Thanx for your answer.
Sure I do not want to attack you
And I am quit calm, as I have a seconds S3, that I am using right now.
It would be just a waste if the first one could not be revived.
so here the answers:
1) Yes, all drivers installed (just rooted my seconds s3 with the same odin install und computer)
2) fully charged
3) USB2
4) WinXP
5) yes, no process is left (killed kies and kiestray before)
6) yes (GT-I9300)
7) 4.1.1
8) not any more. Kies FW recovery has overwritten it with stock recovery

No worries, I'm always glad to help
Wait.. Are you German? (The 'und' gave it away.)
But in the meantime:
Ok. Looking at what you've written, try going into recovery (Stock will do, I guess) and try wiping the entire device. Cache, Data, everything it allows you to wipe.
Once you've done that, go to your computer and hit WIN+R, so that a window like this turns up:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Then you can type the command that is in the picture
Hit enter and go to 'startup' and 'services'. Once there, un-check EVERYTHING that has to do with Kies. (I mean, it's ok if you want to use it for something, but it really doesn't have to start with the computer and just make everything slower than XP already is, right?)
Then restart your computer and try flashing the device again, but this time with this version of Odin.
Once you've done all that, report back and I'll report later on (It's like 01:16 and I've got school in about 7 hours :x)
I hope I could help you and I hope this gets your device up and running again!
Indeed ... I am austrian.
Regarding wiping.
Not possible, recovery just shows "Fimware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again",
This message comes up with normal bootup, and also on recovery.
Download mode works.
I will try later on a different computer where no Samsung SW was ever installed.
But keep in mind, that
1) it flashes for a few minutes, before it allways stops at the same location (on this particular phone).
2) When the problem occured it could not mount /cache in recovery -> this was the reason why I tried to format the flash via Kies
3) This particular install of Odin has no problems with the second S3 phone!
Will report back after I tried Odin on another computer.
I am 99% sure that it will stop at exactly the same spot again
Perhaps redownload the ROM you are trying to flash? It might be a corrupt download...

PC did not recognize the Phone, so I installed the Samsung USB drivers from the Odin thread here on XDA.

I was trying to install a new ROM on my Verizon Galaxy S4, but the phone seems to be bricked. It gets stuck on the Verizon screen and will not go beyond it. I can boot into ODEN download mode. Oden3 starts OK but when it reboots it too gets stuck at the Verizon screen. I can boot into recovery using CWM but when I try to restore a backup I get an error in the data partition; when I try to reboot, the phone gets stuck at the same place. I cannot turn it off; I have to remove the battery to do anything.
Any suggestions as to how to solve this? I at a loss and worried that this may be irreparable. Thanks for any help you may be able to give.

I am receiving an error when running Odin. Near the end of flashing the rom, I receiver a runtime error message "The application requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way." SOFT BRICK is what you described......the phone will boot but gets caught up somewhere in the boot process.
Your phone was "soft bricked". Hope this helps

Go into the recovery mode and do the wipe system and clear your caches. Then try again. Not positive on the error message but when I get back to the office around 9:15pm CST I can see what I can pull up if you still have issues.

I'm not sure, but I don't think I can get into recovery mode. I try and the "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue." yellow exclamation mark shows up. I can't do anything else except a battery pull.
It says you can boot into CWM iin the original post so I assumed you could get there and do the wipes. You might also try the PIT file as well. Then you could try to Odin the stock recovery file.

I would recommend that you try download the file again. Then retry. Your download may have been messed up. If that doesn't work you may need to send your phone in to get fixed. If under warranty then just swap phones.

Hey just trying to try a few things. I wiped my phone in TWRP when trying to install a new rom, and i think i deleted something by accident. When i first installed the rom it was good until I did a restart.. then it hung on the Samsung S4 logo. I then when back to TWRP and did the swipe factory reset option and tried to restore from my stock root backup. That went through, but still hanging on the Samsung S4 logo on boot. So i went to your link and read the instructions. I went to download the VRAUMK_NOWIPE.tar.zip , but it was 1.8gb in size (Is that suppose to be right?) and it had a winrar error at around 400mb which stopped the download. I'm nowcurrently downloading "SCH-I545_MDK_562219_Stock_Restore.tar.md5.gz" which is 1.8gb too.
My question, do I just boot into the download mode, run odin, put that 1.8gb file into the PDA section, hit flash and HOPEFULLY it should restore everything to bone stock? (Also any idea why the NOWIPE had an error when downloading?)

Based on your description of the problem, you should still have Odin download mode, which is good.
Let's first try and restore the phone back to somewhat stock...
Go to this post and download the MH2 pre-rooted stock firmware image (and unpack the zip file).
Flash using Odin, but don't change any of the default options and settings, just specify the tar.md5 file in the PDA section as you've done before...DO NOT TOUCH PIT option.
If Odin fails again, post the screen dump and show us the message log
if Odin succeeds, it will reboot and take a few minutes to initialize the phone (this MH2 image performs an implicit factory reset), you should eventually get the configuration wizard to setup the phone
if possible to enter in download mode then noworry you have chance to get back your device,
but if not then give try on some USB JIG products... (buy from web)
this product let you open download mode by just connecting usb part to device.
once you get enter in download mode you'll safely flash stock rom again.
but this time I suggest you to use ODIN V3.07 (latest version much safer much easier to use)
No problem with download mode

When i turn on my mobile, it directly opens Download mode. And it wont even close when i press power button. I've to force shut down by taking out the battery. There's no boot screen showing Samsung logo.
Actually i used odin3 v3.09 on first place. I knew nothing about it. so following a forum on recovering soft brick i switched to old version.

You still have Download mode on the Phone, so your bootloader is still ok. Flash a stock rom image with Odin and you should be ok...post your results.

If Odin fails again, post the screen dump and show us the message log
if Odin succeeds, it will reboot and take a few minutes to initialize the phone (this MH2 image performs an implicit factory reset), you should eventually get the configuration wizard to setup the phone

first of all, thank u so much for responding. Ok i'll try downloading the pre rooted ROM.
I'll post the results on the thread in the forum after it completes.
Since u're really talented in these stuffs, i wanted to ask u few questions.
1) Will installing Pre Rooted ROM root my device or not? Or do i have to root separately?
2) Will everything get wiped out? I'm sure wallpapers, messages, and settings configurations will be deleted. What about songs, photos? Will the USB storage get wiped out too? btw there's no sd card.
3) Can i recover anything? If yes. how?

1) Pre-rooted means just that, it is already rooted for your convenience.
2) Wiping data/cache can be different on different phones. It always wipe the internal data partition (place where app specific data and such are stored) and sometimes the internal user data storage (place where your pictures and other user files are stored). Whether the user data storage is cleared, I can't say for certain, varies between roms and phone models. (external sd card is never cleared, so that's why you should get yourself one and store your data there or in the 'cloud')
3) Depending on what happens in 2), yes or no. If it's wiped, it's gone, if not, then you're lucky I suppose.
When you manage to resurrect the phone, try to follow these rules...
- sync photos with Google+
- keep other data, songs, documents, etc... on the external sd card as much as possible
- sync contact, agenda/calendar, notes, and other personal management data synced with a cloud service (Google+, Exchange, etc...)
- make regular backups with for example Titanium Backup, Super Backup, etc...
- a Samsung account and Google account will help to automatically backup some settings, call logs, etc... (If you let/allow them)
so you have download mode,
download this pre-rooted stock rom here
then this pit file for e110s here
once the files are downloaded,
head to odin then choose pit for the pit file you downloaded
same goes for the pda file
then it should flash without any errors. after that if your phone is stuck in boot animation.
turn off the phone then Reboot to recovery (volume up+volume down+power)
use the volume rockr keys to navigate and power button to select an item.
choose wipe data/factory reset and cache.
flash the rom again without the pit file, only PDA to make sure everything is fine.
it should fix your soft bricked e110s.
Thank you so much.

Hi,
I'm sure you've flashed at least once samsung gs2 shv e1102 with custom ROM. Did it work? Actually currently, if it's safe i want to switch to the latest version that's available for my device. The stock is JB 4.1.2 So, is it bad if i use the latest verson which will trigger the status of Rom i guess. If it's actually good then i want to try it. Coz the phone has just been recover. There's no need to backup. And i've always been bothered by the sms limit of 80 letters. More than that, it becomes mms and will be sending failure. So, do u have any suggestions. And if i have to upgrade, which one will be good for me? And is the procedure same? By using Odin software?

Go to this post and download the GT-I9210 Based MF1 Stock Root Ready rom. Same method as stock images with Odin. This is a regionalized version for the European S2 LTE variant. It works well on the E110S and will take care of that 80 character sms limit.
If you have warranty on the Phone, then you might be worried about triggering the custom binary counter, otherwise, don't worry.

Ok i'll download it. btw i dont have warranty coz the phone was bought in south korea itself. I didnt even find a flip cover case for that phone is my country. now the question Is there any latest version of JB where the sms limit has been removed. I mean any custom Rom having version greater than 4.1.2. If yes, which one should i download?
and the procedure is same isnt it? I've go in download mode(odin mode) and flash ROM using Odion on the PDA section isnt it?

MF1 is 4.1.2. It is a stock based rom, but is identified as custom because some work had to be done with the boot kernel.
If you want anything later than 4.1.2, google cyanogenmod based roms for the e110s/celox devices. There's enough out there, but you have to put some effort into researching and finding it.
4.2.2

The link u gave me before also had Jelly bean 4.2.2. So if i download and flash that using Odin, will it also remove the sms limit. I actually want to switch from 4.1.2 to 4.2.2. The procedure is same isnt it? Flashing it on Odin. Or do i have to factory reset before flashing?
When i flashed official roms with Odin i never used PIT files. Just out the rom on PDA section and flash it. Usually wipe data/factory reset will erase your data on internal storage card,but in my case is not happeni g. I am trying custom roms on my s2 (i9100) and when i wpie cache,data and delvik,no data is lost from the internal memory. Still got my obb files,music and stuff. Try to flash your device using an official rom and after that i recommend omni 4.4.2. It is very stable for samsung galaxy s2.

You wouldn't believe it but my phone "Samsung Galaxy s2 LTE SHV E100s" got bricked today after 2 years. Yes i'm still using the same phone. And thank you for helping me out last time my phone got bricked.
I have a question for you. Hope you'll help me out this time too david.
1) Which ROM would be best for my phone now? Currently i had "pre rooted 4.1.2 JB" the one you gave me link. I'm sure you have tested all sorts of ROM's.
2) DO You have any new ROMS for shv e110s? if yes, is the procedure to flash it via odin same as before? e.g leave settings on default, select .tar file on pda section and flash?
Thank you!
