Hi all, First of all I have CM10.1 20130210 on my phone. (Had 20130208 when I noticed the problem, But I dont think thats the cause)
I normally check for CM updates & Play Store every night. Yesterday I wanted to check the Play Store but when I opened it it took me straight to the Categories page (It normally takes me to some "General Featured" page).
When I go into any of the categories it takes me to another categories menu (Example: Games>Racing/Puzzle/Action/Etc.) then if I enter any of those it just takes me to a grey screen, As if there were no apps.
I tried going into My Apps & Its blank. If I go into the All tab though they all show, Clicking on one of those apps does take me to its page & If I try to download a previously uninstalled app it does download and work properly.
Something very weird: The same thing happens in the Webstore, No app shows when going into Editor's Choice & When manually going into the categories its just blank. Going into app pages via my own apps do work.
Ive tried clearing the data of the Play Store (Settings>Apps>All>Google Play Store>Clear Data)
Ive tried reflashing my phone (Thats why I went from 20130208 to 20130210)
Ive tried Force Stopping, Clearing data & Rebooting
Ive tried unsyncing & Resyncing my Google Account
Ive tried uninstalling & Reinstalling Gapps (goo.im/gapps)
Ive tried unsyncing account, Force stopping & Wiping Google Play Services, Store & Services Framework. Then uninstalling them & Reinstalling. Resyncing Google account & Going back in. Still nothing. (At this point Im pissed)
Ive tried changing the DPI from 320 (Default) to 220, 200, 300, Etc. Nothing...
Any ideas on how I can fix this? I ran out of ideas myself, Ive been messing with this thing the whole day. I dont even know what caused it!
Just tried changing the DPI & Nothing...
I installed Best Apps Market on my phone (Had to google it & Make it directly lead me to the Play Store page coz the Play Store doesnt work)
Basically you can browse apps through there & When you want to dowmload it takes you to the Play Store (Native app) page.
It did work & Display apps properly but they all said that they werent available in my country. I tried a VPN on my PC & Bam, Play Store works.
That seems to be the problem, Somehow my country got messed up but I cant seem to change it. I did manage to change it on Google Account>Settings>Email Edit>Country but that did nothing. Any help?
i am facing the same problem with my cousin's Nexus 4...... it's not rooted.... it's on the stock Vanilla Android 4.3 by Google..... it has just been factory reset... it's fresh OS with a non-functional playstore which has no apps in it. Here are some screenshots she gave me.

Same for me too! ugh
I have the same problem on MY HD2 running AmeriCan Android march 8th. It just will not load the store atm and although the front page of the website loads on my pc i get a server error when i try and view "My android apps". I will say also the whole store website does seem very slow.
Down for me as well across all my devices.
Same problem
I was on school today when i suddenly wanted to download some app. Unsuccesfull, i got a blank list of items, which were clickable but not downloadable :S
I force closed the play store, but with no luck. The next thing i saw was "Connection timed out! [Retry]".
Maybe this stuff happens because a big vunerability in googles play store was discovered recently? http://tweakers.net/nieuws/80921/google-installeert-per-ongeluk-russische-app-op-samsung-telefoons.html (dutch link)
I hope it will be online again fast, i cant even look at my own apps
I found the solution!
Just delete the app data and cache and it will work again, (it is caused by the last update)
Back up for me now!
It`s all good
Been on latest OTA from [email protected] for a while.
See the little green app icon on the bottom left? That used to be my Play Store...

Since when has it been like this? Seems like something must have happened, but we don't know what...
You could always trying clearing the app's data and cache, if it still shows up in the app list (as nooomoto said, under settings, manage apps). Or restoring from a TiBu if you're rooted and have a backup.
Well I tried uninstalling com vending... Bad idea. Now when I click on what used to be the Play Store it says I've uninstalled it... But com vending still shows up in manage apps...
How could this happen, I don't even have root.
I guess I'll have to root and install GAPPS.
I would try checking install unknown sources and install the latest play store from the web.

You meant the "Phone" icon?
Remove that icon on your bottom right of yr home screen first, then go into App Drawer and see if Play icon is there or not.
Try installing this older version of the market. Make sure u have unknown sources checked off.
It should update back to play store after the first time u go into it.

Looking over your shoulder...
Does it work if you use it from the app drawer?
I've seen that occasionally, if you have a launcher homescreen icon, the update fubars it - but if you delete it and place it back from the app drawer it's fine.

No its gone from the drawer, too.
I forgot about unknown sources. Thanks guy I'll try that.

Thanks for the link. It installed fine. However, after accepting license agreement the Market loading icon freezes and vending crashes. I tried clearing Market data...same problem. The icon in the drawer also says Play Store. Which is weird because it is not the play store icon but a faded icon with an SD card on it.
Different phone, same topic - Google Play Store.
Noobish question:
I downloaded vending.apk from here at XDA
Installed it over my stock Android Market v2.3.3
With the old Android Market, it showed in Settings>Applications as "Market"
Since manually updating to Google Play Store:
now when I go into Settings>Applications
It is showing as "Com.android.vending..."
Is this normal?
Shouldn't it show as "Google Play Store" or something like that?
---------- Post added at 02:57 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:01 AM ----------
{Fixed} Disregard above question.
Just goes to show ya how useful XDA Search button can be.
From another thread I got the simple idea to clear the process's cache and stored data, reboot phone ... tadda ... now Settings > Applications is showing Google Play Store.
Google Play icon, widget, updating functions - all available and working.
Thanks to all the hard workin' folks here at XDA
Maybe something in the Dalvik cache is causing problems? In /data/dalvik-cache I see [email protected]@[email protected]
Can you clear the cache through the stock recovery menu? It's been so long since then, that I've forgotten.
In a (sort of) related note- my Google Play experience was that an expired credit card was causing RPC errors when attempting purchase books. I had to go into google wallet and delete the expired card (thanks to the Google support ticket team for the solution), now all is well.
Anyway, hope this helps,

Having issues getting Wallet running again after a flash. Essentially, I had everything running perfectly on MeanBean. Decided that since Mikey has moved on from this device, I would give ViperRom a try. Found Viper to be far more buggy than Mean so I reverted back to a Nandroid backup. I had reset my Google Wallet settings when I left Mean to go to Viper, but forgot to do the same when I flashed back to my backup of Mean. First thing I experienced was that Wallet would not accept my PIN code. I cleared the data for the app and when trying to re-setup Wallet I get stuck on the screen in this screenshot. It just hangs and hangs with the spinning wheel. If I click my username again, I go through the same login process. How do I fully remove all aspects of Wallet other than just the .APK file, so i can just re-install? Please, Please and Thank you!

Thanks budeone, but hitting Clear Data seems to remove that file. I have then removed the APK manually from /system/app and reinstalled from Play Store....same problem. I feel like Wallet has some setting/database/whatever I need to be clearing as well.
Crap I had this issue a while back... I had to go into adb and reset a file. I'll have to go back through my posts and find it.

Might fix wallet for you
I forgot to wipe and messed up my google wallet as well. This fix provided by lexmir in the Nexus 4 thread worked perfect for me. Instead of buying an app and refunding it, I just purchased the free song of the day in the music section of Google Play:
If you are getting this message "wallet is unable to proceed until this device is fully initialized" while trying to open Google Wallet on your Nexus 4, I found a fix for my device. Here are the steps I took.
1. Turn your phone off and back on.
2. Go to Settings -> Apps -> All -> Wallet.
3. Clear the Cache and Data.
4. Disable the app. Reenable it.
5. Then, open Google Play and try to purchase a song (or anything else that is cheap).
6. After you finish your purchase, open Google Wallet app from your phone. It will allow you to choose the email account to set up Google Wallet.
After going through these steps Google Wallet will open normally.
For anyone who finds themselves in this problem, 2-step verification is what was causing the app to hang. If you disable 2-step verification, it may get you past the step I was stuck at.
Hello all,
About 30 minutes ago (2:00 AM Central), suddenly all paid apps vanished from the Play Store apps, along with the option to view Books, Movies, Magazines, etc. It only allows me to see free APPS and the start screen shows only free app suggestions, this certainly upset me a bit and led me to try the following:
Try 2 Google accounts on device.
Delete files and cache thing.
Uninstall updates (which at a very brief moment allowed things to get back to normal, but even at the previous version things went back wrong again in a minute).
Repeat previous process, then deactivate app, reboot, and reactivate once again.
I must also mention that I live in Mexico, which shouldn't be much of a matter since it's within the Paid availability list, also I tried to look if there was any maintenance going on with no luck.
After doing the previous, I went up to https://play.google.com/store on my PC and turns out I am having the same exact problem even with no google account logged, as well as 3 other accounts.
This is what shows on the we for Mx Play Store:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
And this shows up on device:
My device is a Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900H running on stock 4.4.2 (rooted). Please note that an hour ago I could perfectly see the Play Store in it's normal way and I was even able to make purchases.
If any other Mexico user is around, it'd be great if he could verify if it's a country or user wide problem.
Thanks!
UPDATE:
(NOTE: Free apps with in-app purchases would not display either)
So after continuous tweaking to find an effective solution I did the following:
1. Turned off WiFi on device (for all the previous actions I sued the same router).
2. Went to Play Store on Chrome from my S5 and everything there was looking perfectly normal (with both accounts logged) while using 3G. *
*Even though Play Store app on device was still failing.
3. Pushed a Free app with micropurchases through web and it started downloading in my phone.
4. Re opened the Play Store App and the "Terms and conditions" window popped, I pressed "Accept" of course.
5. The Play Store App was running as normal once again, of course through 3G.
I decided to keep testing and I rebooted phone, then enabled WiFi and opened Play Store app, it went back to being faulty.
Right after doing the mentioned above, I visited the Play Store through chrome on my device, which seemed to be wrong as well. Since then I've been continuously switching on/off WiFi to test and the fault seems to come when I am using a WiFi connection, weather it's on the app, through the device on chrome or through my PC on the web.
I have not tried other router yet, but I'll do so eventually, my guess is that there could be some DNS settings messed with the router that have something to do with Country-Paid apps availability, even though I reset the router 2 times.
I'll continue to tweak around and see what happens. Thanks.
UPDATE 2:
Problem seems to be related somehow to Country availability and WiFi Connection;
When I log through 3G connection (IP still being from Mexico) google play is normal.
When I go through WiFI (both PC and Galaxy S5) it won't display any Paid app, or any app that uses micropurchases,.
When I try to access an app of that type through Play Store app it shows the following:
However, Minecraft has been available for Mexico for a very long time.
I tried rebooting router 3 times, changed router's DNS settings to Google's DNS and I still have no luck, I really find it weird that this happens both through PC and Galaxy while using WiFi.
Any ideas?
UPDATE 3:
I have tried with other 3 decices, 2 on my same router and 1 on a different connection; results seem to be the same...
Anybody from México that can help?

It's been a few days that I'm on my home screen on my phone and the (stock) Internet browser app opens up out of nowhere into either this page or opens google play to a random game app. I scanned my phone with Kasperksy, Knox and Antimalware, none of them found anything. I deleted some apks that looked sketchy, but the thing is still going on, obviously doesn't go away after uninstalling whatever mightve caused it.
Did anyone else get this? I'm about to format my phone to see if I rid it of it.

Go into Application Manager. Under the ALL tab find INTERNET in the list and clear Data and Cache. My mate had exactly the same thing a few days ago and doing this has sorted it

I believed it's not a falls alert. My friend had a similar problem. She didn't scanned her device or anything, but she just jumped to factory reset. SafeBytes is a very good anti virus for Computer platform, I'm not sure if they released any mobile version or not but I think if they do it would worth it.
Just by looking at the screenshot, I can tell you it's not a "system warning". Nowhere in Android system can you find such horrible spelling and/or grammar.
There is no virus on your phone, that's why scanning didn't do squat. It's adware at best. Uninstall any app that you think might have caused it, then delete the Data and Cache of the Internet app, as Painman said.
Then, just to be safe, you can also boot to recovery and clean the Cache and Dalvik.
