nexus 4 q charger - AT&T LG Optimus G

I've been reading a couple of articles about the nexus wireless charger and was wondering is it compatible with our device?

Short answer no. N4 has it build into the phone, there is no such for us

If someone tries the touchstone mod, but that requires a lot of work and soldering, etc; not sure if it would even work either

Ehh yea that's alright with me really just a gimmicky product. Says wireless charging but really it has to connect to a wall outlet for power so really its just a kickstand for the phone. If it had speakers then maybe they would be on to something

But does it charge the device from a distance, or do you have to actually physically place the device on he dock? If it's the later, then it is most definitely not wireless. You may not have to plug anything into the phone, but if it can't charge without coming into contact with the wired dock, what's the point? I already have a wire that connects to the phone without a dock between it and the wall.

In my case it is very convenient because I don't have tons of space at school, so my plugs are behind my bed, desk etc. and the power cord is tough to reach/unplug every time I need to take it somewhere. Also in an office type setting where you don't have to fumble through cords, and you can just let it sit docking and just pick it up and go. Techincally it is wireless, as you don't have to plug any wires into the phone.

I guess it's convenient when you don't like cords but me I would just by an extra charger or a dock and have for home or office use and one for the road which I sorta have already just need a dock.

HTC Express Charge/sync dock

Got mine today. Looks nice, comes with AC and USB cable. The View fits nicely into the cradle and dock mode kicks on automatically as advertised. My only ding for this unit is you can't sync and charge at the same time. Well, it charges off USB, but not the same as with AC power direct into the unit; it's much slower to pick up a full charge regardless of whether the USB cable is plugged directly into a computer or powered hub.
Overall a nice accessory that gets the View off it's back and frees up a little space on the desk or end table. 4 thumbsups
Edit: HTC needs to have the sh!t slapped out of them for using that stupid proprietary plug and socket design on this device. They munged up an otherwise totally awesome tab!

The That Amost Dock Rocks!
I have the dock, I just hate having to take the unit out of its case all the time and then put it back in when I take it out of the dock. The proprietary connector does suck and sucks even more because you cannot get the cables from anywhere. They should have put two connectors on the dock, one for syncing and one for charging like they did for the dock that came with the 6700.
I got mine from Sprint for $49.95 retail (but I had a 30% off card from Sprint) and it is OEM,but its black.

That's why I was saying I wanted a dual connector like the 6700 had.
USB has a max of 0.5 A and the Charger 1.67 A so it takes about 3x longer

Those who are looking for the Motorola Rapid Charger locally

For those who are looking for the Motorola Rapid Charger locally, I ran into a guy at Best Buy who was the regional manager for the mobile department. He too has a Note. I explained the issues I'm having and what we all came up with as a resolution. Funny his he already had that Motorola Rapid charger.
Anyways, he pointed out the car dock kit
For the Droid X and X2. It comes with the very same charger we all are looking for. Here's the bonus: it was originally 49.99 but on clearance for 24.99. Not as good as ebay for 7.59 but I figured I had a 50 gift card after I took all those other chargers and cables back. So I bought the kit!
Here's the REAL bonus: not only does it have all the stuff for a car dock (although its for a Droid), but when.I got to the register, it rang up for 9.99!
I bought all 3 they had in stock.... ;-)
Check your local BB for availability if you don't want to wait for it to ship from ebay or amazon.
Sadly though, I'm still not charging while in use... :-(

I purchased the Kensington dual port charger for iPad/iPhone from CompUsa. It has 2.1 amp and 1.0 amp ports. I used it in my 2008 Honda Civic Si and my car electrical started acting possessed. My power doors were locking/unlocking; alarm system wouldn't always work; drained battery needing me to jump start. Had left charger in lighter port w/o anything attached. Don't know if it was defective but car has returned to normal after I got rid of it might try another

AC adapter reports as Charging (USB)

I've done some searching but couldn't find an answer to this. No matter what charger or cord I use (including stock) my Rezound reports as charging over USB. I noticed it after updating to the 2.01... OTA. Has anybody seen this before or have any ideas how to fix? I'll also note my Inc never had a problem with any of the chargers I have.

I have been through a handful of different types of wall chargers that claim "5v. 1A output" and ONLY the official HTC wall charger has worked for me: http://shop.htcpedia.com/htc-u250-wall-adapter-usa.html
Do NOT buy the ones on ebay... they are fake and DO NOT WORK.
I've had a handful of ebay chargers pump out "AC Charging" but never more than 200ma, even though they look legit... the ones i bought from htcpedia (2 so far) have been flawless just like the one that came with it.
The issue is that even the official one that comes with the phone reports as USB charging.

Originally I assumed it was the charger because the first time I noticed I wasn't using the official charger, though my Incredible never had a problem with it. Then when I got home, same thing with the official charger. I may see if an RUU fixes it when I get home tonight.

I will say this, I have a 2 amp charger, that will charge the bionic at 1.5 ah, but for some reason all of my HTC devices only charge at between .25 ah, and .5 ah. This is using an Evo View, TB, and Rezound. Not one of them will charge faster. So I think it has something to do with how HTC's recognize whether or not it is USB charging. So I wouldn't say all the ebay/amazon ones are junk, they just don't work with our phones.
The plot thickens. Went to lock the bootloader and run the ruu and it isn't being recognized by the pc when plugged into the USB port.

Yup has to be 1A an hour for the Rezzy.
I stopped by the local Verizon store today and played dumb since I'm unable to RUU and relock the bootloader and said I noticed it after the update. Since I recently got the phone it isn't too far fetched that I just updated. The Verizon rep said it was probably the update that caused the USB menu not to pop up and to use the settings menu to select disk drive. I'l just play along and stop by later saying it still isn't working. I am a little nervous about it though considering I have Amon RA and an unlocked bootloader and can't fix it without being able to connect to a pc.
Are you using the same cable for all of this? A bad cable (open data line) would cause everything you describe.
I've used multiple cables and tested against my old Incredible which works fine with all of them.

I had this happen on my droid incredible 2. The usb charge port was loose inside the phone. I ended replacing the port on the phone and now it shows charging as AC with the same charger as before. I was using the stock charger as well. I suspect with your phone the connector inside the phone has come a little loose. The USB type will charge fine just at a slower rate from what I saw with my phone.

Magnetic Charging Port coming loose - let's get to the bottom of this

I'm reading a lot about people's magnetic charging port coming out. From the sounds of it, a lot of these people are using after market 3rd party cables, not Sony's official dock.
I want to know if anyone has had this issue, while ONLY using the official Sony dock. That is the true way to determine if this is a Sony issue, or a third party issue.

This is a common xperia problem even with the sony dock, i hear its usualy caused by thick screen protectors but it seems to be false

OK, so my next question would be what's causing it to come lose? Is it the magnetic charge being connected for long periods of time (over night)
Or
Undocking the phone which would slowly over time pull the magnetic charging port out of the phone
If it's the latter, does unplugging the docking station from the wall release the magnetic charge? Or do both (docking Station and phone) have real magnetic charges regardless of the dock is plugged into the wall?
If the dock doesn't magnetically attract to the phone when it's unplugged, then a simple user fix would be to just plug the dock prior to Undocking the phone.

AFAIK it's just a plain old regular magnet that it's using. It doesn't "switch off" it's magnetism like an electromagnet.

That's what I was looking for. I contacted Sony and they confirmed either loose flaps or magnetic port being dislodged would be covered under warranty.
Sent from my One using XDA Free mobile app
If yours comes loose just use super glue to put it back on. It worked well for me and the port still works. Although I don't think its waterproof anymore.
Defective Design
My magnetic charging port became loose and fell out after 1.5 mths of exclusive use of a magnetic charging cable for charging.
Examining the port, it is clear that it is only attached by a bit of glue.
My assessment that this is a very poor design decision by Sony. They should have designed the port to be physically impossible to come out without disassembling the phone. I would even call the design defective for a phone that is supposed to be waterproof.
Sony agreed to repair my phone under warranty, and upon my request, agreed to provide a replacement with a new set. Unfortunately they have said they will only do this once.
This is a warning to anyone thinking of using the magnetic charging port for the long term. Be very gentle attaching and detaching the phone from the magnetic charging cable/dock and do not apply force!
A bit of glue?
@stopspam
Could you provide more details about the glue, perhaps we can figure out weather the device remains waterproof after the magnetic piece falls out
Sent from my D6503 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Or maybe we can pre-empively apply a small amount of epoxy around the edges of the magnet on the exterior surface giving it a little more incentive to stay put?
Had the phone for nearly 3 months and have been using magnetic charging cable only from day one and no problems here. 14w16 here.

Can anybody comment on the Magnector X cable? They are supposed to be different, with better magnets, etc.
Just got my z2 yesterday, haven't had time to set everything up, but from the looks of it, the magnetic port is sealed in there. Doesn't look like it would easily come out even after a lot of use. Hopefully Sony fixed this issue with newer batches (week 23)
Sent from my One using XDA Free mobile app
can anybody explain how to change it please!!!
It's been 3.5 months for me since I got the Z2 with dock and everything else. I haven't had any indications of the magnetic port coming loose and I think I figured out why.
When I remove my phone from the dock I don't pull it out vertically (assuming it's sitting on a table on the dock). I pick up one corner and try to angle it out of position till the magnet lets loose. Now I have no idea if that's actually what's helping it but it would appear so since I haven't had issues with it.
Of course it could just be caused by defective docks with too strong magnets but I guess we'll never know..

[Q] Car mount with fixed USB charger HELP

Hi Guys,
I'm looking for a car dock for my Nexus 6 similar to the pro clip or this fix2car mount http://www.holdersandmounts.co.uk/f...on-mount-dash-mount-with-usb-car-charger.html[1]
Basically my criteria are that I want to be able to take the phone in and out of the mount without having to attach the USB cable after. I want the USB cable to be fixed and the phone simply slides in to it.
The pro clip would cost me 150$+ and the fix2car one I linked would run me close to 70$. I'm looking for something about half that price.
Hope you guys can help!
Thanks
0 replies on XDA and on reddit, something tells me i'm about to drop a hundred bucks on a car mount... AGAIN!
PSA to anyone thinking about it: DO NOT get the airdock 2, it's a piece of poop and the phone falls off constantly.
If you must have the fixed plug, you could hack one in place with some JB Weld. A lot of guys did just that back in the "old" days.
Or suguru, that stuff works great for something like this. BTW, my airdock works great.

If you would like to charge your phone in a car dock without having to attach USB each time why don't you get the QI charging dock? It is about $35-$40 here in US, probably about same in UK. And will work with non-bulky case.

welllllllll the reason why im trying to avoid a QI charging dock (which btw is not a make or model but the technology, can you specify which model you're referring to?) is because i bought this neato quick charge usb lighter thingy and i'd like to be able to use quick charge..... wireless QI charging is pretty slow and when having the screen on, and steaming music, and using maps for nav, it doesn't actually gain any charge!

the problem is that QI will bottleneck your charging. using a quickcharge usb lighter thing will work via a cable but not through QI!
QI will support up to 15 watts of charging in the future, it was actually announced like a couple of weeks ago or something, so future models will support quick charging
I have quick charger at work and at home. In the car I need the dock I can use with minimum effort and without connecting/disconnecting USB frequently

it can if you have it completely tightened down, but you would not be able to pull the phone in and out if it was tightened down. the way i have it now is the clamp holds on to the lip of the phone but not so tightly that I can't easily put the phone in and out of the dock. The clamp does not press on the buttons, this way.
