[Q] Tiff files - problem open TIFF via email app - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I always get TIFF files to my Gmail, and I used to open these files via the Gmail email app in my GS2.
But, since a month ago, the TIFF files are displaying very small, like a very small image.
I didnt make any changes to the ROM, or didnt install anything that may cause it.
I checked all TIFF files, and they displayed perfectly in PC or in iPhone.
Any idea what can I do?
Thanks

Hey

Tnx

You can use a diffetent picture viewer.

Anyone has an idea of opening tif in defualt mail app?

Just an idea....could be way off base...but....
The email app may recently have received an update.....
Select apps or manage apps in settings, select the email app from the list, and see if an option to 'uninstall updates' is visible. If it is, select it and reboot your phone....
Otherwise, try a different email app....

Attaching a PDF file to a Gmail email

Hi folks,
For some reason I can only attach pictures to Gmail emails. This is really annoying as I'd like to attach a pdf which I downloaded using the browser but it doesn't seem to give me that option?! There is a "downloads" section when I browse for an attachment, but it only shows images I've downloaded.
Does anyone know how to fix this..?
Thanks,
James
Just tried in Astro - scroll to the actual PDF on your SDCard and press and hold - bottom option is send, choose this and it gives you Via Gmail or Via HTC mail options.
Not actually sent anything but that looks like it should work...

I can see why you think you have a problem if you create a email & try to send it the only files you can see are picture files but if you follow Daisy's advice & use a file manager to select the pdf (or any other file type for that matter) it will work for you.
Good afternoon, I also have a problem with attachments and GMail. But actually the opposite of the above. I would like to save some mail attachments to my phone, but somehow this feature is missing. And ideas?
i have another problem with the gmail app. when i get a mail with , lets say, a picture attached, i am not able to download and store that picture, just to watch it (even if i click on "download").. is there any other possibility within the gmail app to do so?

[Q] Can't download from an email

I have my work voicemails sent to my inbox as wmv files in an email. Ever since I got the fascinate the only way to check the hear the wmv file is to download, change its name to an mp3 file extension inorder for it to open.
If i try and open the file straight from the email it says the attachment cannot be displayed. Is there any program that i can usento open it straight from the email?
I already hace download crutch but that does not help. Any suggestions are really appreciated.
Anyone have an idea?
Have you tried downloading a different app like winamp or something else that says it can handle .wmv?

I have, but it seems that when you are in an emailnyou cant set it to default to an app that can play wmv. Unless i am missing something.
I do a similar thing with .epub files, but since the Gmail app doesn't know what to do with them, it won't let me download them. My workaround is to download them from the Gmail website through Dolphin Browser, which will let you save them to the SD card, named whatever you want to name them.
Here's what I found. The android email app only allows the native media player to open attachments, and the email app can not recogne that an attachment is a wmv so it wont be able to play the file.
I tried to solve the problem by looking for a different media player but could not find one with permission to open email attachments. At this point, i dont think that would have even worked since the email app never recognized the wmv file ext.
So i went with an exchange email client from the market. A bunch actually worked, you just need to see what works for you.

[Q] Gmail App Missing Attachments

Hey guys, is anyone missing options to include as attachments in the gmail app? The regular mail app has options to include locations, vCards, videos, voice recordings, etc.
i have the attachments option in gmail,
but i don't have as many options as the stock mail app, either.
i would think that the MAIL app simply has all of them as pre-sets, but if you use GMAIL then you can simply navigate to them using the pop-up suggestion of 'file explorer' or any other apps like 'andro-zip' that you have installed (which also popped up in my gmail attachment option)
Yes, that would be a viable option if I wanted to send something like a document, picture, etc. However, it would be nice to have the integration of the vcard, capture picture/video, send GPS coordinates, and other items that are not specific files on my phone.

good point
although some of those are indeed possible--but strictly from the app in which you would find them (*GPS--Maps app, for example)--
it would indeed be nicer to have just one starting place (gmail) from which all of those could be shared.
I was thinking the functionality was missing, but it seems like it was never implemented? I just looked at my Xoom and it only has my file browser and gallery. I thought my HTC Touch was able to attach these items, but I can't remember as it has been over a year since I have messed with it. Plus it was running some other hero Rom or something like that...

Re: Please help DELETE INSTANT UPLOAD FOLDER ON PHONE?
I called Sprint and spoke to a tech. What you need to do is go to your Gmail on the web browser in desktop mode. Click on the tab that says "more", then click on the tab that says "drive." Make sure you're still in desktop mode on the "Welcome to Google Drive" screen. On that screen you're going to want to select the "more" tab again and a drop down selection box appears and you want to select the "photos" option. Once in there, you should be able to delete single photos or entire albums from instant upload. Once deleted here, they no longer appear on your device. I just did it, and it worked like a charm.
Good luck!
