Tab Positivo BGH YPY, need help to root - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

ok, ive watched the you are Noob video, and it was too agressive haha, honestly i search in the whole forum and i couldnt find anything about this tab but what i know is:
-the tablet has android ics 4.0.4
*i read that android ver. cant be rooted, so i have to go back somehow to any previous version( i need help with it or atleast any thread to read about)
*i have the usb drivers installed (generic ones, generic tablet)
-main reasons of willing to root it:
*the tablet comes with spam, yes, it have spam, pop ups, downloaded root app delete to clear em but it says i need to be root user (SUCKS) where i live i dont have any diversity at all, i wanted an acer iconia which i wasnt able to get.
*need to uninstall no needed apps such as google+ which is always running hidden and some others, want more battery life
*also need to uninstall no needed apps cause the tab only has 380 ram ( it says 512 on the box) yeah i was like... okay
-what i have tried already
*superoneclick -> it stucks when i press root in "shell rooting device step 7"
*unlock root, it gives me an error "failed to get shell root, please use the services of our professinal root!"-> i bet they want me to pay for the program, program which id be pleased to buy if i just had a credit card, where i live theres no way to buy things in internet except if you have credit card
what can i see the "shell" thing idk whats that has a problem, its my first tab and i never ever before used android so i dont know.
any help will be thanked

[Q] About rooting asus prime

Look, I know that some of these questions may have been already answered , but others probably not. I'm not a lazy one... I've looked up on the internet already but some of them are kinda too specific.
I've never rooted a phone or a tablet before and this is my first android device.
I know that rooting can be dangerous, but i wanted to use the transformer prime to take handwritten notes using adonit jot stylus. As far as I know, in order to be able to properly write with it, you need to use this app: touchscreentune
Unfortunedly, the app requires root access. Note that I tried by myself to write with the adonit in my transformer and the results were not good.
So it looks like I need to root, but i dont need any custom roms, etc..Just the minimum enought to get that app working. I heard that there is a few clicks tool to do this easily.
I'm not experienced when it comes to mobile devices. On the other hand, i'm a computer science/engineering student and i'm at least "experienced" in what comes to computers .
So you know my problem and you know my background as a computer/tablet user. Now help me, please:
1. In a scale from 1 to 100, how risky do you think it is rooting for me?
2. If I root my tablet it voids warranty. If i unroot it, is there any traces left? i.e Will i be able to use the warranty after a root-unroot? (What do think is the probability of loosing warranty after root and unroot?)
3. Does the tool (viperMOD ?) work with the most recent android and firmware versions (I think yes, but just to make sure)
4.Do you think my reasons to root are legit and do you advice me to root?
5.Can you point me an updated tutorial (I've seen many tutorials but I don't know if they are updated) on rooting the prime?
6.If i change the touch screen setting and then unroot, will it keep the settings?
I know that they are a lot of questions, so if you only know the answer to some of them, please reply... I will appreciate it a lot.
Well, thanks, and btw hi xda developers forum and sorry for my english.
And I want root my prime! But I'm noob and I'm afraid to do this. I need root prime for CPU Clock to 1.6ghz and i need root for apps! Help
1. 1.... not a big deal...root it.
2. Probably will if you send it in with it rooted. You can unroot with Viper.
3. viper works with all of them.
4. I advice you to root, theres plenty of apps that require it and you'll feel cool.
5. Use vipermod. best easy root there is. (if you installed asussync, make sure you kill it on your comp)
6. probably not as it asks everytime you unlock screen for permission
Why root:
1. Change bootanimation
2. you'll be ready when roms and kernels are released
3. you'll be able to install a recovery, so you'll have more control of your device, so if anything EVER happens you can make a backup and restore it
4. You can overlock to 1.5ghz or 1.6ghz (stock is 1.3ghz)
5. Very coop apps like Ram Manager or Task Control need root
6. You can install Ubuntu/Backtrack and actually use Ubuntu (currently only chroot)
7. You can install mods like change the icons ect. (not adviseable until we get a recovery)
8. If you ever wanted to sell your prime, the fact that its rooted (or hacked) it would be more valuable)
9. so many more...
10. so many more more
BTW, if you want to return it, and you want to unroot it, you can. Just make sure every unroot it the SuperApp is not there. If it still is, theres plenty of tutorials to do it. you'll need adb though. (learn adb, simple commands to control your phone from the pc)
you can always just wait till roms come out. you'll be more enticed to do it then.
With the viper unroot the superuser app remains there?
I have slastop instaled in my computer. Ill make sure it isnt open when i root.
Im not interested in roms. But being able to run ubuntu would be cool. But it would be much better if it was native.
One thing im wondering is if the tablet has a hardware problem and i cant turn it on, then i wouldnt be able to unroot, would i?
ive never tried it but it should remain there.
not splashtop im talking about the AsusSync.
Im sure native will be available once the unlocker tool is released...any second.... (announced by february)
chances are nothing will happen like that, unless you start to edit stuff
hasnt happened to me, and i know it has to someone that edit their build.prop

[Q] Eliminating chinesses app from a STAR A3 (beginner level)

Hello all,
let me present my self as a beginner in the world of Android.
It has come an Star A3 to my hands, with Android 4.0 and among all great things of IceCream, few Chinese apps I want to get rid of
the phone is rooted (well, one headache less)
I have flash the recovery 592zn.com_recovery_Star_A3_MT6573.img with Mobileuncle tools (included in the mobile originally) and done a Boot/System/Data/Cache Nandroid backup
Apps I want to eliminate :
Baidu input (and add the standard input keyboard)
own Chinese launcher (I have already install LauncherPro, but I would love to get rid of the Chinese one completely)
UC xxxxx (some Chinese browser)
Root Explorer (Chinese version, to be able to install the English one)
ICS 4.0 (also Chinese version)
a Chinese flash-light
a Chinese dark/light switch screen
a Chinese version of the configuration menu
so, basically to keep a clean Android
so, where I have to look for help on how to do that ??
what short of help / tutorial am I looking for ?
I have installed:
http://www.ltr-data.se/opencode.html/#ImDisk
to be able to mount the nandroid img files in windows7-x64
but I can't see anything, it ask me to format the unit (?)
similar with Daemon Tools .
any help will be greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance.

My advice since you're rooted is install Titanium Backup and use it to uninstall everything you don't want. It's a root app that can get rid of virtually anything.
Seeing as you have a nandroid backup, in the unlikely case that the device won't boot at all without one or more of those apps, you can just restore the backup you have.

Star A3 for dummies
Hello
Ok I have searched for hours (as the video asked) and I cannot find an "android for dummies" guide. I dont know what a "root" is or what "titanium" is... so I may have found the correct forum - but I just don't understand it.
So the problem is this:
I bought a touch screen DualSim Android 2.3 GPS 3G MTK6573 Phone Star A3.
It arrived today BUT it has some chinese programmes on it (that I would like to clear) and I cannot seem to download any additional apps for it.
google.play wont work (apparently it doesnt support the device)
It has a few basic apps - but nothing wild or that I guess can't be re-downloaded again.
What would you recommend I do - do I wipe it and install something new or what. and if so please can someone explain it to me in small "for dummy" steps
I am not sure what else I need to tell you to give you abetter pic, but ideally I'd like this phone to work on the google apps system (or can you point me to where I can get similar apps)
On the "about phone" the
android version is 2.3.5
Kernel version is 2.6.35.7
I would really appreciate any help you can give me
Thanks
My first advice would be to try and achieve root on the phone. This should be relatively easy on a Chinese phone, most don't have great security.
Basically, "root" means to get increased permissions on the phone. There are certain files and actions on the phone that normally you can't do. With root, you can. Think of it as somewhat like logging into a computer as an Administrator rather than a standard user.
"getting root" basically means installing a hack to let apps on your phone do more than they could otherwise e.g. uninstall preinstalled apps.
To "root" your phone, you can use a tool like SuperOneClick or UnlockRoot. For both, you follow a few instructions, plug in your phone and click "Root" in the program, it'll work out the best way to do it for your phone and do it.
Once that is all done, there is a guide here for getting Google Apps (e.g. Play Store) working on unsupported devices: https://senk9.wordpress.com/2010/12...ogle-apps-gapps-on-your-android-device-phone/
Once you get Play Store working, Titanium Backup is an app you can install from there. Using root, it can uninstall any app you want.
Be careful with all this, if you're not you could break your phone.
educated dummy
Thank you so much! - and such a fast reply too!!!
I really apprecate your patience in explaining this all to me.
It sounds relatively straight forward - I will have a look at those progs and link you suggest tomorrow.
Obviously I dont want to break the phone either, then it would be more useless then it is already
Fingers crossed - will let you know how I get on.
Hi all,
Watched the video so I thought I would tag onto this thread instead of starting a new one.
Just bought a cheap star a3 dual sim android phone. This my foray into android phones and I am having some weird issues. Just a first note I have just rooted the phone but these issues where here before and after rooting. The A3 is a htc sensation clone i believe when my other half who has a htc desire tries to call the phone the phone goes straight into answer phone and rejects the call, she is on giff gaff in the uk and i have tried both a 3 network and orange sim and it happens on both. There is some weird chinese security software that I trying get remove but its seems very stubbon. Anyone any ideas. Ps battery life is awfull i only seem to get 6 hours from full to dead without hardly any use. Maybe I have loads running but unsure what I need to keep running.
Please help.
I have the star a3
Google play works perfectly. If you PM me, I am happy to send you the apk file for google play.
since you are rooted, I strongly suggest you get root explorer installed so you can go through and remove all the chinese apps.
Make sure you remove "himarket" its a big battery hog.
To the person who says their calls go straight to voicemail, remember this is a dual sim dual *standby* if you are using 2g or 3g cell data on one sim then the other sim cannot make or receive calls.
Also, there is no ICS for the Star A3, its just a skin on top of Gingerbread to make it look like ICS, if you go to settings, about phone and look, the version number will be 2.3.4 or 2.3.5 which means its gingerbread (if you really do have 4.0.1 ICS I would love to get a copy of the ROM for it!)

[Q] rooted irulu 4.2.2 tablet?

hello,
i recently bought a cheap irulu tablet off ebay. it's running 4.2.2, and i'm not quite sure if it's rooted or not. i've read that most of their tablets are rooted right out of the box, so i downloaded 4 or 5 root checkers from the marketplace and some said it was rooted and some said it was not. i know that it does have su and busybox installed, but i don't have one of those superuser apps that request permission or anything. i can browse my full phone with any file explorer. i installed titanium backup, and it says on the main screen that root access is ok, but then it will pop up an error message that says:
BusyBox works but the "su" command does not elevate to root. There's something wrong with your "su" binary and/or "Superuser" app.
can anyone help me? i tried installed a superuser app to see if that helped, but it didn't.
anybody? *chirp chirp*
heh im guessing no one is rooting this tablets
I just bought My lil brother one of this Irulu's ones and i guess he's gonna stay Stock Xp

We cant give up that easy my friend ....
Hi,
Just wondering if anyone managed to make any progress with this? I recently bought an Irulu ax105 tablet running 4.2.2 and I'm having the same issues as the opening post. At first glance the tablet appears to be rooted, but I get that same message in titanium backup. Root Checker says that the device is rooted, but Busybox won't work because it says that the installer hasn't got root access. I also can't update the binaries in superuser because root access fails. Seems like it's not properly rooted.
Thanks.
I have a irulu that also said it was rooted. Installed su just fine. Was wondering about a recovery or ROM. Mine is 4.0.4. Tablet PC.

Custom rom already probably not. Somebody has to make one. There is a lot a rom can give but for myself I only need a custom rom to remove everything i dont need or wanna spend hours removing within the 4.2.2. These chinese tablets usually come with only the bare essentials installed. I would suggest gaining root and having fun optimizing it yourself. The first step when I go about creating a rom is getting jellybean just the way i want it without anything like games or useless apps. Then dumping your system and creating a base rom from what you got. Then you can remove the unnecessary, add any compatible extras...repack and install. Make it generic but original and youve got something you can adfly for any others on your model of tablet. You get some cash and the satisfaction that youve helped others with the ability for a custom roms. Thats all the easy parts unfortunately though. I doubt i should delve into that. Its possible you may get a recovery for another like tablet to work.
As for root thats easy. I chose to use Bin4rys tool. Google bin4ry and root restore its should be relatively easy with the correct adb drivers. I have 2 chinese tablets, one a quantum axis 7" and an irulu ak303 7". Aside from the fact that the irulu is pink and doesnt sport an hdmi out or rear camera, and uses a rockchip....they are identical in almost every way down to hardware. The adb drivers for the quantum installed via vista online as soon as i plugged it in, however I had to go to the www(.)irulu(.)net for the other. Then it was just down to starting up bin4rys progger and selecting each option till one showed print onscreen, and a tablet restart.
For future reference to anyone else finding their way here looking for root help on these tablets: If you dont have su installed, cant install su, apps say no root(or only half say root true), root only apps dont ask for permissions(or do but fail regardless) or any combination of those examples you most likely dont have root. And even less likely dont have root if you did nothing to gain root just check.
To make it easier sry....download and install SU. If you cant your not rooted. If you can load it up and be sure it all works properly and all info seems to be correct. That doesnt prove root however. Download an app that requires root, any trusted one shall do. Access the app and do whatever needs to be done in order for the app to request permissions of SU. SU should pop up and ask basically yes or no...choose yes and then assure the app did what it was supposed to do correctly. If it did you have root....if it continuously fails, or doesnt request SU permissions at all you do not have root.

Yes suprising lol, and lucky. Somebody might have made a decent ROM for it but I don't know one I'm sorry. You do have a good start on android though, a cheap tablet with a generic unbloated system. Start off with skimming a few tutorials on how to create a ROM by dumping a current system without modification of the actual files just dumping. You'll have a good jump start on android knowledge and even a little more about tablet hardware. It really comes down to the want or need of a custom rom. Which I would suggest either buy a second test tablet or learn more about ROMs before heading into recoveries.

I also bought a iRulu 7" Tablet 16GB and it does not even work. When it comes up it keeps saying that the keyboard stopped and a bunch of android files stop working. If I do get to set it up when I reboot it clears all my data ?? I'm returning it but man $43.00 is not even worth it.
I have a Kindle and a samsung galaxy S4 and they run circles around this. The only good thing I could say is it used and gave me 64gb with a 64gb mini but tablet won't work long enough to use it. I always have to do a factory reset and wipe all my data to get it to maybe work. I did this for about 2 hours last night and then gave up.

Thanks for the guide ,been looking a while
Just rooted mine
Have the irulu 6.5 inch mtk6572 unlocked 3g. When you plug it into your PC, enable MTP to root.
Just rooted it using framaroot from this site. Had to use v1.9.1, after downloading and trying every one. Only glitch found was that the superuser does not work correctly in adb shell, can't seem to get from $ to # when typing su. Had to install clockworkmod Superuser app from the google play store, now superuser works. Even installed busybox.
Ok, now that I have superuser access, wohoo, what I really want is to expand my internal storage using a swap, haven't figured that out yet though but have been working on it. Afraid to flash a custom rom, but do know that if you reboot to bootloader you can try flashing differant recovery roms, if they are not compatible, fastboot won't let you, when you look at your tablet screen it even says wrong recovery and quits, which is good.
Anyways, if I could figure out how to edit the vold.fstab, vold.fstab.fat.nand and vold.fstab.nand correctly, who needs a custom recovery?
Another thought, risky but may work, even tried playing around with the above mentioned fstab files by copying the android-x86 4.4 RC2:
kern
al
ramdisk
.img
system.
cfg
init
rd.img
to either a SDCARD or the internal phone storage, somehow blocking out the internal phone storage and booting from one of those, it may work. I'm running the 4.4 RC2 on a seperate partiton dual booting in ubuntu on my desktop. Figured out that you do not even need to install 4.4 RC2 from a usb stick or cdrom, just copy those 4 files to the hard disk, create a data directory and it boots up. So my thing is, maybe it will work on a android tablet. Wouldn't mind running kitkat on my tablet, and shoot, the internal storage is only 514mb, won't miss that to much if I could run kitkat from 2.11gb of storage. Another downside though is that alot of apps you like may not work doing this, know some don't on my PC, but than again, that could just be a PC issue.

I just used Towelroot.apk to root mine and then installed the su binary - piece of cake :good:

HKC P771A Successful Root

First i cannot figure out how to get this into the Tablets section
2nd, this device doesn't show in any phone/tablet section
Anywho, i did find a few threads on this guy here, so wanted to help direct those that are trying what i was and am. I want to put a better ROM on this device as it is way to slow with the 4.0.4 ICS it came with. It is very bloatware free which isn't surprising as it is a walmart brand and not a Veri$on or AT$T device. I do recall from previous flashes Rooting being step one of any upgrade, so i looked for a specific method for this device. Towelroot failed to find the needed exploit, as did every version of framaroot 1.4 through 1.9.x
The next rooter i tried was KingoRoot
simply downloaded the PC app (i'm on a Win7 x64 desktop) from their website kingoapp Think i got routed to software informer (yea annoying i know)
Installed app
It DL'd a driver it liked better (think it called it a samsung driver, who cares it worked)
Then offered to root the device
Clicked root
Program connected ten ran through dozens of what looked like attempts. Eventually seemed to hang on one at like 87% (which means something is actually happening with this tablet that's a good thing as it's single core processor hangs when you do anything)
Eventually after that (and possibly offering to close the app on the tablet screen or WAIT which i selected wait) it said installing root
then began rooting
PC app reported it was successfully rooted
DL'd RootChecker from the google play store
installed it
once giving rootchecker superuser permission, it confirmed root.
So, now where does a guy find ROMs for tablets, obviously it is a very basic android device, it isn't a phone so it doesn't need a pretty Cyanogen Mod, just something not ICS i'm thinking as this device hangs way to much to be functional. i THINK the spec are 16GB storage and 1 GB ram. Can't seem to find a central place to find tablet ROMs or even a repository of posts specifically for this device, As it is a WALMAR$T branded item, it has to be in heavy circulation, though perhaps not in the modding community??

Need help rooting the ZTE Atrium (Z793C)

Hi so i need some help and this looked like a good place to start. I bought my girl a phone for Christmas, its the ZTE Atrium (Z793C) through Strait Talk from Walmart. Its a CDMA phone and it runs off the Verizon network. It was a decent prize, ok size screen, so i bought it (not knowing it was a peace of crap), its running Android 4.4.4 KitKat. So heres the problem it has a CD card slot but it only lets you use it for pictures and thats about it. Its only has a gig or so of internal memory. So it didnt take my girl long to fill it up with facebook, games and crap. I have never seen a phone like this, every android phone ive ever had at leat let you put sum part of your apps on the CD card. So i need some help, Im not new to hacking devices you name it ive hacked it and this is not the first phone ive rooted. If it was a sumsung or a Motorola i wouldn't be here. What the heck is a ZTE (crap ill tell ya). So ive tried a couple of apps from the pc and from the phone with no success (iroot, kingo root, kingroot, framroot but the apk i downloaded only had one exploit). IDK maybe i did something wrong. Any kind of help with this problem would be much appreciated.
Please help Somebody gotta have some ideas

I also am having the same issues. I use my phone for business and require alot of different applications. Please tell me there is a solution to this problem.
It has been done
If you still want to know, I got the device temp rooted and will be looking into a custom recovery and Tom for permanent root later.
Please can you tell me the best root for my zte atrium?
Right now I discovered a temp root for thr ZTE ATRIUM. It is the only root working right now.

P.S: For the root to last longer keep all the apps you had opened while rooting and open terminal emulator and type SU. Then accept. Feel free to ask questions.
