Lumia 7.8 usb constant restart - Nokia Lumia 800

Hi,
First I'd like to says thanks to the people who have done a great job with the custom roms, I'm quite enjoying them over standard WP7.8.
I managed to flash the Qcomm bootloader, unlocked sim (haven't tried that yet) and am curently checking out Rataplan V5 (Rainbowmod and lite have also been on here). Got an activation code from Microsoft for live accoun so I could use the phone properly, but have just came across an issue I did not have earlier:
the phone will not stop restarting when plugged into USB. I wanted to sync my music from Zune to my phone. It worked fine when i used it last night to charge up, now it restarts from both wall usb and pc usb
Any suggestions on where to look for the problem?

Reflashed Rataplan ROM again, no issues this time around. Not sure where the problem came from, hasn't come back.
So again, big thanks to those who make these ROM's, made my phone so much better!

Had the same issue even when I upgraded to official 7.8 on my dload lumia 800. Reinstalled the firmware and everything started working properly too. So it seems that this is a solution.

I'm too, I mentioned that I was installing official firmware. It was from Navifirm, I installed it because there was no 7.8 on Zune. But I think there are plenty of custom roms on development thread. I have dload, that means I cannot flash my lumia now with these. Homebrew firmwares are usually fully unlocked, so if you want to install some tweaks that require access to registry go ahead. My friend said that custom firmwares lag more, he has unlocked lumia, though I haven't actually seen the phone.

It only lags if major modifications are applied such as theming, or any other core changes made, otherwise most WP custom roms (eg. Dynamics) only gives you full unlock + Nokia add-ons, which is like having a rooted HTC Android OS with Samsung apps.

Can't believe I forgot to mention its a lumia 710.
Anyways, the orientation lock is pretty much worth the custom rom all by itself.
Did like the clock tile in rainbowmod, but the colored tile app broke the Os when the color option was picked.

The GB 2.3.3 link is to a build that was released by Dell to Olleh, a Korean cell phone company. If you were on Olleh, it was an official release. We have confirmed loads of that ROM on Venues around the world (including mine), so it does work. CM7 and MIUI ROMs are much better though.
Thanx a lot!
Thanx for the help.
I have just bought this phone 2 days back.
I think i should give it some time before i can go on experimenting with other roms.
The biggest fear to me is what if i end up bricking my phone?
Can i have your gmail/yahoo messenger id? I have experience of changing roms and rooting galaxy y.But i dnt know how to get started here for dell venue.
Some of the terminilogy is beyond my understandings.
Your good support will be appreciated.

There is always a risk that what worked for everyone else won't work for you, but it is a very small risk. Most of the time problems have been tracked down to "failure to follow instructions". Even today when I do something to one of my devices, I read the instructions 3 or 4 times, just to make sure I am not skipping over something important.
To get started, load CWM - The instructions are here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1423002, they do work, with one addition. Under the "install instructions", you need to rename the CWM file downloaded to just recovery.img and put it in the same folder as your fastboot files, then when performing step 5 you can type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" and it works just fine.
Once CWM is loaded (make sure to follow all instructions, to include pressing both volume buttons and power to get into it) then you can flash the Olleh GB update (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416537), CM7, or MIUI (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1565517).
My rule of thumb - read the directions several times before trying something. If it fails, read the directions again, something was probably overlooked or skipped.
I also prefer to keep all correspondence on the XDA site, that way others can gain from the discussion.
i dnt knw why this forum banned my account probably on asking online support from you?
Well i needed to ask a few things.
i read some instructions for loading muli rom and cm7 roms,
sm1 had wrote i need to have gb 2.3 on my venue before i load any of these 2 roms.
Does it mean i have to first load Korean rom 2.3 and then cm7?
I dont want to install korean rom as of now coz i heard it doesnot work well with ussd codes.and i need to use ussd everyday!
By d way i have rooted the phone successfully so now got some confidence thax to u

I don't think you need to have the Olleh ROM on first before MIUI or CM7, just CWM for flashing. As for the Olleh, it works fine, and one of the XDA guys around here posted a fix for the USSd codes, so that can be fixed too. I do prefer CM7, though MIUI is not bad either.
Requirements:
Clockwork Mod installed
Matching pkg flashed beforehand*
Instructions:
Prereqs: Update with the matching PKG
Copy latest base zip to sdcard
Copy latest patch zip to sdcard
I dont understand what this means? what means matching pkg?
base zip i found with stock rom 2.3.
and what this patch.zip is?
Sorry i bothered u a lot!
Noob Guide
As many of us here fear of bricking the fone which we dont want,
Is there a proper and accurate step by step guide to update Stock 2.2 Froyo to
--> Gingerbread
--> CM
-->MIUI
I have seen many guides here.
But as I said I am a total noob to this so chances of screw up are >
Help would be appreciated.
Also would like to know:
For GB mod what launcher does it use? Stock or Vanilla?
Is the battery backup hampered or enhanced?
Are there any effects on HD games and apps after the upgrade?
Thank god!Someone else is also confused! i thought im the only dumb guy here lol
Well have u roooted ur phone?I had rooted it and using CPU TUNER APPICATION which works nice to save battery.
The app works only on rooted phone.
Im also hoping for better battery management in cm7/miui/ooleh

Ok, back when we were dealing with .img files, before CWM was ported, we had to make sure the correct version of recovery was loaded otherwise the file could not be loaded. Once CWM was available, that no longer was an issue. CM7, MIUI and the Olleh build can all be directly flashed by CWM.
Ohhk.
Thats what i assumed.but needed to confirm.
Now i got ur point. Now 1 more help please...
I have loaded cwm and got my phn in fastboot mode.
Now what do i need to do next?i mean which zip file shall i download and flash?suppose i want cm7 or miui rom, which files do i need to download to flash directly?I downloaded gb7 ooleh rom and found 2 zips in it.
one names BASIC and one named OTHER.
so im confused.

awaiting process note
also provide performance , bugs, experience details
Performance is awesome for this rom.Just awesome
I firmly believe dell should talk to the developer of this rom and take the rights to push this rom in all their venue phones! It wouldnt cost them so much that they cant afford!!
2.2 sucks...i upgraded my phone from galaxy y to dell venue. With 2.2 i really didnt feel much of difference between the two except for larger better screen. But now it feels im upgraded with the performance.Smoothness of this rom is really nice.
Iw ould strongly advise all 2.2 users to try this rom it will convert ur toy to a better gadget!!But as said...cope up YOURSELF with the upgradation risk of bricking while updating!

ICS update for South African RAZR owners

Howzit all
If there are any South African RAZR owners waiting for ICS or have received the update, please post here and let us all know what the user experience is like, and if at all possible, post the update on here
Thanks!
Nice to see another south african razr user on this forum. Im still waiting aswell. I have a ME Retail version, so i think we'll get the update when the Middle East gets theirs
What I'm keen to see is if we get an untampered version and not something loaded down like the Droid RAZR's are in the USA thanks to Verizon insisting on loading bloatware.
Also hoping that one of the reasons we're waiting longer is because they're stabilising it a bit more
mybroadband
hey guys,
im excited too. Cannot wait. A buddy of mine did a manual OTA update though. He is having issues with his USB not detected on his pc or any other pc, that is one of the reasons I waited
I have played around with his and it looks much better than the HTC sensation ICS update as far as I can tell, that is look and feel and some added extras
Razr sa ics update
Hi there.
Love my Moto RAZR!!!
I downloaded an unofficial ROM and installed it. It was really nice but it did support sdcard, so I could also not take pics, cause it saves it to your sdcard.... Then tried to go back and bricked my phone... Finally I manage to unbrick it after a days work.
But, yes... It is going to be great and can't wait for the ota release in SA!!!!
Cheers
Congrats bra

Hi
I reinstalled the original fastboot ROM. He will need to tl dowload it, its about 1gig and install rsdlite and Android SDK Tools on a PC or laptop with the correct drivers for his phone. His phone must be fully charged.
ROM = spyderird_u.01.26.0_spd-ird-21_sign_Asia_retail_hktw.xml
Usb debugging must be on and developers tool on, then restart his phone pressing power butten and vol up and down holing it till in recovery, then select the second option dafastboot. He must update Android sdk tools first. open RSD Lite and open the zip file (ROM) takes 15min then connect his phone and click start. Go and drink some tee and in 15-20min his phone will be as when it was when he took it out of the box the first time. Done....
Its the original so every thing works. If he needs help he can call me.
I JUST GOT MY ics OTA!!! Bussy downloading now, so will let you guys know what happened asap.
Thanks For reply

shot buddy. my friend rhodesa and I both are with 8ta as a carrier, checked for updates manually, none for us and we never received notification so we have to wait.
with regards to your update, did you go back to gingerbread for your to receive that update notification or were you on SPYDERIRD_U.01.26.0_SPD-IRD-21_SIGN_ASIA_RETAIL_HKTW.xml
@u1fourie
Was the unofficial rom that you installed ICS? Because i did the same thing, installed unofficial ICS rom, had problems with the phone connecting to pc's so i tied to go back to gingerbread and bricked it.I eventually unbricked it but now the usb issue is still present.Im currently using 676.226.3.XT910.Retail.en.EU.
Yes the unofficial was ics. Then I went back to gingerbread, maybe I received the update because I use the gingerbread spiderird with Asia signarure, but its still original 2.3.6 gingerbread

sweet...so when you loaded gingerbread, did your sdcard feature work again
i used rsd first yes, but then it failed so i tried again but using EternityProject Fla**** for Windows then it failed again. But maybe the reason it failed was because i used the wrong stock rom which was not for my device
I tried to go back to (SPDREM_U_01.6.5.1-167_SPU-15-M2-3_SIGNEuropeAustraliaEMEA_USASPDRRTGB_HWp2b_Service1FF_fastboot.xml.zip)
Yes . Everything worked 100%.
thanx will try
@ rhodesa
I think rsd lite should install even if it is not the correct ROM. Just make sure your driver are up to date, your phone is fully charge, not using power from your USB, start phone in AP fastboot and that you have Android SDK Tools installed and updated

New to Android and Galaxy S3

So yeah, as the title goes I'm a newbie in the Android world and to the Samsung Galaxy S3. I'm a computer enthusiast myself and am quite familiar with technology. I came from an iPhone 3G that can be easily Jailbroken. Now for Android, is rooting=jailbreaking? Is there a good guide here that I can follow and learn all things about rooting and customizing the hell out of my Android phone?
TIA for the help.
Go to the s3 general section/stickies, to root I advise using the cf root method, it is the simplest

welcome to the android world.. read the stickies in this thread. TO start with read the newbie guide in my signature
I was like you 2 weeks ago But I came from a Iphone4-jailbroken etcc
Now I have flashed around 10 times. I have rooted the phone same amount and am on the same level as I was with Iphone. But let me tell you buddy Android is never ending there is NO LIMIT its nuts. Root is like the Mother jailbreak . Flash means Installing ssomething new. Usually flashing a rom which means installing a new operating system or UI.
But yeh late nights got me knowing alot so good luck

Welcome, and now maybe it's time to familiar yourself with some reading too.
All the information you seek is on this forum (search function- top right) or google (www.google.com).
Hello Kevin i used the toolbox method here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1703488 over the CF as it included everything needed in 1 simple zip file it was very easy and good step by step instructions. Even i managed to not mess it up.
Here is link to the CF method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1695238 tbh to a noob like myself both seem to do just the same job just the toolbox guides you though it with options. Please someone correct if i'm wrong in case i'm giving bad advice .
Here's the info and tools you'll need to get started...

Trust me! Spend 10 minutes on above thread and you will be brought up to speed with your S3 rooted!
Thank you very much guys. I'm definitely a good reader and I bet this would be as easy as it gets for me. I've flashed hundreds of devices like routers, cable modems, etc. so no problem on that as rooting would be just using usb interface AFAIK
Android is already jailbroken basically. Root is Super Jailbreak. Custom Roms are mainly used for theming, performance, etc.
Welcome to xda.
Enjoy the android gang:laugh:
Let me give you your first thanks.
Cheers.
You can use the resurrection ROM from CheckROM
ROM + Root in one file

Steps:
Download Odin 3.04
Download Cf_root6.4 and flash Via Odin = PHONE ROOTED
Now you automatically have CWM a new recovery boot from the above root file, which will now allow you to flash Rom zip's in recovery mode.
thats it

Is there a good guide here that I can follow and learn all things about rooting and customizing the hell out of my Android phone?
TIA for the help.

Thanks When you say crap installed by my carrier, like what app?
Carriers may install a boot screen extra apps bookmarks and possibly disable OTA updates .Then again they may not have installed anything at all .

So when the carrier pushes it, you have no choice but to update the phone?

Steps:
Download Odin 3.04
Download Cf_root6.4 and flash Via Odin = PHONE ROOTED
Now you automatically have CWM a new recovery boot from the above root file, which will now allow you to flash Rom zip's in recovery mode.
thats it

Firmware update 1.53.502.11

http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-desire-610-att/news/
Here is an update I found .it's Still android 4.4.2. All that I know is it says bug fixes on the provided link for download . I flashed the firmware through fastboot just now . Works fine ,I don't notice any difference from the stock firmware other than the software numbers being different. There are two variants for download . One for pre paid and one for post paid. I have a contract so I used post paid.
I just wanted to post this for all to dig into and also because through hitting check for updates on my phone ,this update did not show up .I found it manually online .
I've developed some roms in the past for the atrix 2 . I am quite possibly going to be diving in once again as its been a year since I stopped for the a2 and currently this phone needs some development going on .

this update just att phone??
I'm waiting for 5.0 from HTC, but I'm curious if the update will fix a problem with the display. 610 needs devs
I'd really appreciate some confirmation on this. I started the ruu tool and saw it will wipe internal data (prior to reading that I didn't think an update would erase data) Not a big deal. I stopped it and made a backup.
But then I stopped to consider if there are any more surprises.
The 2 step guide right in Google search results does not mention needing adb environment. But other places say you need android sdk tools installed. This is an issue because I don't own a pc. I have everything I need on my Mac but of course I cant run exe files.
Do I need an adb environment for this to work? I can borrow a pc but would prefer to not put too much stuff on it because it's not mine. Just running one program one time--not a huge bother.
Also are there any other things I should be aware of before continuing? With other devices I'm not nearly as cautious but this is my main phone. Thanks.
Sorry to keep coming back but I did a clean install of Windows just for this update. The pc I had really needed maintenance. Still not certain it's necessary but I've got the adb environment set up and working. I just have a few questions...
1. Reading older posts, it says the ruu will relock boot loader and bring me to stock, is this true?
--in case it wasn't assumed, I AM rooted with jmz kernel, unlocked and twrp
2. This WILL lock and unroot my phone automatically, correct? I don't have to do it before?
3. If the answer to the above is yes, I will need to unlock it and root again?
4. Once this is done, can I flash my backup with twrp? Of course that assumes it will be wiped.
Sorry again for what's most likely annoying questions. This is my only phone and bricking it would be bad, worse than other devices that are just for entertainment. I VERY tempted tojust plug in my phone and run ruu but I really want to know exactly what will happen.
For all the threads here I'm surprised this isn't being talked about.

***ok. I finally read the return to stock section and it also is done with ruu. And you do need relock boot loader. Of course this means it will wipe my data.
Sorry. I've read that post before but skipped right over that section. I thought there might be a better way.
TWRP must be essential to flash the kernel but otherwise it really complicates the update process. Without it I could just unroot with Supersu or other tool, take the ota then reroot.
I wonder what differences are in the ROM for pre-paid and contract customers?
Naturally this thread is in relation to the AT&T supplied phones for an RUU with 1.53.502.11 / 1.53.502.12 ( 1.53.502.12 for pre-paid devices)
On HTCdev the main version for the WWE phone is currently only 1.31.401.2, with the Australia (Telstra) as 1.31.841.3.
I have the Australian Telstra supplied HTC Desire 610 (Navy Blue) and it is running 1.31.841.3 with Kernel version 3.4.0-g29bee57 [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT
Does anyone know of an RUU for the WWE ROM? or know if the AT&T 1.53.502.XX kernel version is 3.4.0 or 3.4.10 or other?
OTA Update
I received an OTA today on my AT&T 610.I'm rooted with boot loader unlocked and on rooted stock.I copied the OTA file if anyone is interested.I'll upload it and make a shared dropbox folder. There isn't any version info that I can see.I'm.not equipped to read the build prop inside the zip at the moment.Any interest just let me know.

I'd say it's just a prep update for the lollipop we are supposed to get in March.

I heard we weren't getting lollipop till next fall...did they bump it up or was my info wrong?
That did seem like a long wait. By that time a new os might be rolling out!
From what I be read we can expect it.in mid March.I will try to hunt my reference points back up so you can have a look too.

And if its not too much trouble would u try to summarize how you got the update? Did you just relock bootloader, factory reset via HTC menu and take a normal ota? Then unlock it and root again?
Ive rooted and flash ROMs on a few devices already but am surprisingly still confused about this. This phone's gotten so little attention there just isn't much out there to learn from.
Not to mention it'll be a bit time consuming since the PC I used to root this has since died so I'll need a new token. That's where the ruu adds another layer of confusion--as far as I know it doesn't automate the unlock so where's the benefit there? Once you're unlocked, running root tool is easy ...and if you have to unlock and unroot anyway--at that point wouldn't just allowing the ota be easier?
You see. I've got lots of questions. Any help would be much appreciated. Running same firmware 6 months now.
More recent Firmware?
Anyone have an RUU for a more recent firmware? I actually flashed an older version than this (the one in the return to stock thread) thinking it was the latest.
I left it on there for I think around 24 hours, waiting for an ota update before rooting but it never happened so I thought it was already the latest version.
help

Where can I find a ruu for the a3_ul? Any will do as my phone is constantly rebooting and has errors. Thanks

to those who have eu 610 and rooted in haste

Like a lot of us here, I'm not a developer but a user. Like a lot of users we can get over excited and flash and roots and so on without thinking of the consequences...
I came originally from samsung phones which in all honesty are much easier to root, flash and return to total stock. but I got the HTC 610 as a gift from my phone company. I quickly hit the forums looking for a way to unlock and root my phone and did so without making sure that there was a way to return to original stock.
I'm not blaming anyone here It was me who did it so my bad, since then I have been searching on a daily basis to find original 610 eu rom with no joy.
Now I got mine working ok but like most eu users I encountered problems, my biggest was the constant problem with play services and downloading from play store and after about 6 weeks I started having the same connection problems that almost all rooted eu users have commented on...
Last week I read an article from android police that had an apk of the new play services 6.7.7 anyway when i went to check the info on mine i noticed that mine was only 6.5 which was released all the way back in November, after some research i realised my phone wouldn't update to any other, anyway after some fiddling I got the new services installed and now all my errors have disappeared, my connections have stopped disconnecting and are working totally fine...
Now i Know a lot of you will say that this doesn't affect the connections but all i'm saying is that sometimes when one thing doesn't work it can affect other things and seeing as now I've been using this for 4 days with no problems now, so maybe its worth a try if nothing else...
here is the link to the page and please read it carefully

fingers crossed

it is but sadly i didn't make a back up of the original firmware as it was before it was rooted I kind of got ahead of myself and flashed everything in one post... only reason I didn't make a back up was because it was new out of the box so I didn't have any personal data to lose... now I'm using a stock Asian rom that was posted by mini blu on another thread... after some tweaking I've got it working fine now...
shame if i can get a proper eu dump even with root i can make a non rooted stock package
thats the problem
coming from samsung its really easy to get original firmware so i just assumed that the same would be with htc... oh well lesson learned...
htc used to be fine too, they just started being problematic here in the EU, in the states the RUU is clearly available for anyone to download, asking for a european version over live chat got my IP blocked from HTC support as "suspicious"

I contacted HTC US and they advised me to contact HTC Croatia (which I'm from). Then I contacted HTC Croatia and they said (after having no clue what I'm talking about, sending me links to kernel source and how to unlock my bootloader) I should contact authorized service of HTC in Croatia. Authorized HTC service told me that they don't have that file and pointed me to HTC Croatia... Maybe it's better that I didn't get any answer at all.
