[Q] Can't delete PG05img.zip - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am trying to delete PG05img.zip from my sd card using an sd card reader, as I am getting a boot loop when turning my phone on. I delete the zip, and yet it keeps coming back, anyone have any ideas? Thank you

Try booting without the SD card in and see if that stops the reboots.

It seems it wasn't the zip on my sdcard causing a problem, because I was able to get into recovery without the sd card in and factory reset, and was able to boot normally with my sdcard in. Thank you though :good:

What have you tried to remedy this problem already? Does it work in your PC?

Backup the contents of your SD to the PC, format SD, and you should be good to go.
^^ What he said ^^ Too slow

Can't read sd card.

I was playing around changing prl's and on my last reboot my phone stopped reading my sd card. I've did nandroid backups, pulled battery and took out and re-installed the sd card. Nothing. Anyone have any ideas on what I can do?

I don't think it's my card because I can still flash roms that are stored on my sd card.

I am using twrp recovery. My phone won't go into disk drive when I plug it into my pc, but if I go into recovery and toggle sd card, my pc can read the files on my sd card.
I could sure use a little help. Or at least a push in the right direction.

That is a strange issue. If it were me, this is what I would try:
Use a card reader connected to your PC and copy all of the files over to your PC. Make sure you have your folder view set up to see hidden files.
Next, format the SD card. (you can use this free program "SD Formatter" https://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter_3/) or just use your normal formatting process.
After the card is formatted put it back in the phone and see if it can read the card. If it can, then copy the files you backed up on your PC back to the card.
If it can still read the card after putting everything back on, you're golden. If it can't, then there is some app or file on the card causing the problem.
Good luck and let us know what you find.
thanks for the advice mvansomeren. worked like a charm. i have no idea what happened. i changed a prl file rebooted, was too slow so i did the ##775# and i saw that i couldn't find my old prl file. i went to check for the file and couldn't find my astro. lol. then i noticed that the phone wasn't reading the card. well, if it happens again i'll know what to do. thanks again.

Thanks for letting us know how it worked out. I'm discovering that the SD card is the root of a lot of strange issues. I'm not sure if data is getting corrupted somehow or the quality of the cards is questionable but now, whenever I have a weird issue with the phone, the first thing I do is pull out the SD card and see how the phone behaves without it. If the phone returns to normal, I know its something to do with the SD card.

+1. It's happened to me several times. Also a good idea to back up the sd card often. Saved me many times.

Back it up somehow, do a complete format of the card, then move your data back onto it. If it still has issues, format it and put no data on it until you've verified that the data is good. I've had issues both with the card being corrupted and data being corrupted that's led to unrecognized cards and random unmounting of the card.
Also, there's no point in wiping more than once. Anyone who tells you it does do something it lying to you.
Hey loon thanks for your words of wisdom seriously, I've done everything you mentioned,i may get a new SD card but I Will try your way though wish me luck homie

[Q] [HOW-TO] SD card safe to remove every reboot

I'm running the latest MROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1836674 and everything is fine.
Though, every reboot, i get the message "Safe to remove sd card" right after "Preparing SD card"
I cannot backup rom onto SD card because of this.
How do I fix this?

If you are going to backup the ROM through recovery. You will just have to mount the SD card through recovery. BTW, is it the internal (if you have one) or external SD?

External SD card, internal is working fine.

Did you have this problem on a stock ROM?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
Nope, even after I got MROM which was a week or so ago, it was all fine.
Ever since yesterday, i've been getting this error.

I would try re-flashing your ROM. and if the issue is still persistent, try fixing permissions through recovery.

Problem solved!
All I had to do was Settings>Storage>Erase SD card (THE EXTERNAL ONE) and everything is back up working.
All I had was an old clockwork backup file and some music on it, therefore noting valuable is lost.
Thanks for everything !
Gat to have helped

Is this a software or hardware bug?

Hi,
After I restart my phone, actually it restarts sometimes automatically but don't get me there, I lose access to my SD card and have to remove and re-instert it to get it working again.
So I was wondering if it's the SD card's fault, the phone's hardware or the Android 4 and I upgraded from 2.3.6?
Thanks.

your sd card isn't remounting it self most probably a rom fault or something preventing it from auto mounting
Thanks, how can I fix it? I'm on a stock ROM, htc's 4.0.4.

You should probably just flash a RUU, you will need to lock your boot loader again if it's unlocked. Once it downloads, rename it PH85IMG and put it on the root of the external SD card (not in any folder). Its the micro sd, Not the phone storage! If you have no micro SD, you'll need to buy one.
If the RUU doesn't fix it, copy your SD card files to your computer and format the sd card in 4ext, maybe your SD is acting up instead of the ROM.
Don't forget to hit thanks if I helped you, or if someone else helped you!
