members help - HTC One X+

afrer many hrs upon hrs of trying to fix my htc one x +
i need some help.
i dont no if its out there but i need a standard ruu for a htc one x + on vodaphone uk with a hboot 1.40
it may not even be out there but if it is and u can help be much appreciated
bought this hox + for my sons birthday was fine till i got home re-set it
im unable to return it to vodafone as i bought it from gumtree classifieds so im left with a brick
i have no idea what to try next any help be much appreciated ty.

You've been told how to fix it already
Sent from my HTC One X+ using Tapatalk 2

my dumbass freind relocked the device and tried to return to stock with ruu
now i carnt even adb sideload cause ive lost recovery
when he tried to re flash the ruu he downloaded it failed on hboot because its 1.40
i need a europe vodafone rom with hboot 1.40
so yes im stuck totally now.

lol friend or you?
regardless, a little bit of searching by yourself would have found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2066390

its ok i give up ill send it to htc pay the repair cost or find a repair shop local see if they can do anything
rang htc on phone told me it would need a new motherboard cost £150
to say im more than pissed of is putting it mild.

just been to a vodafone store they have taken the phone and are going to update the firmware on there pc
i think with latest jelly bean.
will this work even though its stuck on the screen with recovery bootload etc ?

Why don't you listen to other members like Lloir? He gave you what you searched for and now you are ignoring his answer and just doing what you want. What they are doing now at the store is run the proper RUU file of vodafone and then you will have a stock device again. You have to be in bootloader to run a RUU setup, so no worry's there.
Do a proper backup when you have another try at flashing custom software m8!

cmon dude Lloir and i have told you several times what to do and that you can't use the ruu if you have 1.40 hboot. i also tried to stay in contact hand take you literally by the hand on going back to stock and i must admit, the fact that you are just ignoring the help and efforts of other users just pisses me off.
but good, waste your money and our time

im not ignoring your help i have given my phone to a guy who knows a little more about getting it work than me
i have pointed him to the other thread and your pm`s
i just needed to walk away for a while take a deep breath and start again if this guy carnt do it i will give it another go
this time doing it step by step.
and i thank you for all your help and i will need your help again if the other guy has no luck.
the thing im finding hard is were to unzip the files what programs need to go were
and the cmd commands because non of the ones i ran worked.
i appreciate all your help very much.
the other guy said its software issue not motherboard so what ever happens im not spending £150 at htc service centre if it takes
me a week ill get it working myself.

Hmm that was unnecessary... Ok I promised to help and even thou I'm not too thrilled about how it worked out in first place I'm standing up to my offer. You and your friend are welcome to contact me if you have any questions. Maybe even a noobproof step by step guide from a fresh start if you should need it. But then I really need you to follow the steps exactly.

Yeah I know I am using winxp I was up till around 3 last night I was trying the unrevoked method which resulted in failure it said pushing root and at final said firmware was to new,now I know I can downgrade but I just think I am not that advanced yet I agree just trying to get it rooted. I also tryed doing the revolutionary method which looked best but once I get the download for windows it completes I get my beta key, do the proper phone settings and go back but don't know how to get revolutionary installed to use the black command box solo I'm stuck there as well. I am running 2.3.5 aos

No OS Installed. Stuck In Bootloop. Offering Donation To Helper.

Hey people.
I rooted my ANDROID HTC ONE from T mobile, using a guide I found on here and the all in one toolkit.
I am using TWRP newest 2.5.0.0, I can access the bootloader and recovery, and have been sat here now looking for answers for about 5 hours.
It freezes on the HTC quietly brilliant screen.
Also says that there is no OS installed.
I am looking for help via TEAMVIEWER, or someway to get my phone working.
If you need more information please let me now ASAP so I can give it you.
UPDATE: Okay people I successfully installed the XenonHD ROM and it is now stuck in bootloop i have tried clearing the cache and it doesn't do anything, this is the only ROM that is currently working.
I have searched the net searched the post and still nothing.
I am almost got my phone back guys and am willing to DONATE or repay the favour via modding something through XBOX or whatever I can.
Please contact me soon as possible.
I am still on TEAMVIEWER.
Changed my recovery to ClockWorkMod Touch.
Still need help?

There have been a lot of posts on similar issues. You can "sideload" a ROM via ADB commands from your computer. If you can get into recovery, your phone can be fixed. I haven't done this myself (still stock), but do a search on google or xda on sideloading a ROM from ADB.

Did you clear the cache? Also, I've seen some people have to format the partitions.
EDIT: But formatting does not seem to be needed if you sideloaded successfully.

Sorry, I've not even rooted my phone, and I would not want to use your device as a learning tool. Let me look around and see if I can find a nandroid backup.
EDIT: Nope, I don't see one. Try opening a thread requesting a nandroid back for your recovery.

You have to be careful with No o.s installed .
Normally if u reboot when u see that you'll brick.
Without a o.s you have no bootloader..
I bricked my s3 and had to jtag it when it said no o.s I rebooted and black blank screen nothing.
I've had this happen also when choosing format system and format data /media some reason it botches the boot up .
My only fix was to sideload a rom or wipe factory and restore a nandroid .

my recomendation is that you get s -off and supercid asap so next time you run into a similar problem you can just install any ruu(note only do this if your phone has no official ruu) and work it out from there.

What you need to do is this exactly .
Dload a rom on pc reboot recovery on phone first .IMORTANT FIRST FORMAT SYSTEM.
Then when that's done choose factory reset.
Rename the rom to Rom.zip or anything you want but make sure it says.zip
Sometimes sideload won't work if roms not renamed , that's mentioned in another thread about sideloading.
Then sideload the rom
Let it load and install .
When it reboots itl take a while .
I just did this to my HTC one the other day after I got stuck after formating data media .

Yeah my phone is currently working now, but I have no play store nor do I now if my phone is rooted.
I have a custom ROM on it XenonHD. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2290785
That one.
Just currently trying to get to grips on how to work it and that.
I can't download the playstore because it says it is currently installed but it is nowhere to be seen.

Advice for newb

hi everyone.. I recently upgraded my phone to the LG G2, and in doing so I have kept my Droid DNA for the purpose of getting into rooting, and customizing. I have always been fascinated with smart phones , and operating systems, and would like to get to know how to dig into them. I know stock systems very well, and optimize every phone I get up to the stock allowance. Now I want to lift my limitations, and this is the perfect phone to do it with. so if yu could please kindly give me some advice on where to start,. I have been lurking these forums for quite some time, and I find it overwhelming, since I don't know a good starting point. I will continue reading/learning before I tap into this OS, but I just need to know basics, then I will begin to understand the framework..if I have this in the wrong section, im sorry, ill find it if you move it. if you can help , thanks in advance.

I suppose unlocking and S-off should be your starting point, if I understand the question correctly.
If your DNA is on the latest firmware 3.x.x then Rumrunner will get this done for you.
Then install a custom Recovery, ClockWorkMod (CWM) or TeamWinRecoveryProject (TWRP).
Back up your OE Rom by making Nandroid (done in recovery).
After that you can flash whatever ROM you choose.
I have 2 DNAs, on one I have ViperDNA 2.5.0 and on the other CyanogenMod 11.0 nightly.
Above all, have fun :good:
Thanks, Yes... that does answer my question. And I am on firmware 3. Android 4.2.2. Is there any specific advice you can give me to avoid any fatal errors?
btw. what lead me to create a this thread, was that I heard I need rumrunner , so I went to the website, DL the file. after extracting the file for my device, and executing soju.exe, when it ask if im aware of the implications or whatever "type yes or no" when I type yes, It just keeps asking me over and over lol. so I got no where. so I did some digging and found tons of different threads ,, some of which say use this file.... or that tool kit, or this program.... or that method, some that seem to no longer works etc. so it just confused me on what I need to do with my particular phone. 4.2.2 firmware 3 sense 5.0

This http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2559232 should be all you need for unlock and S-off.
This http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1994662 is the Recovery I use, TWRP.
When using Rumrunner you must follow the instructions EXACTLY.
Make sure your drivers are working properly.
Make sure your device is recognized by ADB and Fastboot.
Rumrunner assumes you have studied, and are familiar with ADB and Fastboot commands.
If not read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=879701
Make sure your firewall and any anti virus are disabled.
Enjoy :fingers-crossed:
Make sure you use a capital y when typing yes, everything needs to be exact.

That's not entirely true. You have to disable driver signature enforcement in Windows 8.x then install the ADB driver. Microsoft doesn't want anyone unknowingly installing drivers by accident. They make it so that you know what you are doing and doing it on purpose.
http://youtu.be/NM1MN8QZhnk?t=29s
Got it!
I did all the same things on my Windows 7 laptop and it worked perfectly the first time. It really was Windows 8.1 that was the problem. I'll be sure to follow that link and make sure all the rest of my drivers work in the future. Thanks.

[Q] Am I too late to root

It has been over a year since I got this phone. Normally, I rooted the day I received a new phone. But I didn't think that I had any reason to do so this time until I bought a Chromebook. Now I really need to tether.
Can someone show me where to start? It seems that most the threads I have looked at are pretty old and just spent a couple of hours going no where.
Current software is 4.4.2.
Thanks.

Hi there. First thing is making sure you have all the proper drivers installed and HTC Sync uninstalled.
I then installed the app to temp root and ran Firewater. The terminal commands are on the firewater site....if you need more detail or even a step by step, I'm happy to help and write something up. I just can't tonight as I have an obligation to attend to.
Let me know how you make out and if you need additional assistance I'll write something up tomorrow around this time.

Thanks for the reply. I have the instructions for Weaksauce and Firewater, but I don't want to make any mistakes here.
Where can I find the latest HTC DNA drivers without installing the HTC Sync program?
Where can I find the latest ADB download?
It looks like these are the last things I need to find before continuing.
I'm at work, but this evening I'll either find you a link or upload them to my dropbox. Hang in there...I'll help ya out lol...soon as you have everything, its literally like a 5 min process.

Thanks. You have been very helpful. I have rooted 6 devices without a problem, but always rooted when the device was new along with the tools to root. Alwayw made me nervous though.
Thanks again...

Haven't forgotten ya...I'm just getting home. Have a few things to attend to.
You can get the HTC drivers from this post right here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2000896
Ok, download the SDK from here : http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html?hl=sk
Make sure USB debugging is turned on. Install the attached weaksauce apk for temp root. You can verify you're rooted by downloading superSU and root checker from the play store.
Unpack the SDK and you'll want to put the firewater file in the folder titled : adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-20140321
Open a terminal from this folder by holding down shift and right clicking the folder, "open command window here"
Follow the commands given on the firewater site.
Profit.
Once S-off and unlocked go to the TWRP thread in original development and download a recovery. Flash that via fastboot.
Then flash super user zip for root...again, search that out. I'm running out of time so I can't right now...lol
This is all I did. Collect all your files first. Make sure your drivers are good to go before starting. Install the drivers, reboot the pc and plug the phone into the usb. Likely a driver install thingy will pop up with like 5 little circles...let it finish before you begin.
Good luck bro...I'll check in tomorrow or later tonight to see how you made out.
**I take no credit for any files linked or attached.**

Well, didn't work for me. I am guessing I might have tried to root months ago. I drank a lot back then. When I ran WeakSauce, it said I was already rooted and did nothing. Then I ran Root Check, and it said I wasn't rooted. But I moved on through the steps. But when I got to the last step in FireWater, it said I need to run as root.
I noticed I had SuperSU app installed. So I uninstalled that, uninstalled WeakSauce, re-installed both and started over, but got the same results.
Not sure where to go from here. I almost feel like I should just do a Factory Reset and start over, but that could really screw things up too.
Man, sure am sorry to hear that..maybe a full RUU would fix you up. Then start over...I'm not sure. Maybe someone with more in depth knowledge needs to chime in here..
bummer.....

You know, now that I think about it, I did have full root before, but I wasn't thinking one night and got an OTA update that made me loose root. Maybe that is why I can't use weaksauce. I decided to start in my bootloader. Attached is a screen shot. Tried to go into recovery, but that failed. Just came up with a picture of a battery or something. Had to hold the power button down for 10 seconds just to boot normally.
Does the screen shot tell you anything? It tells me, I think, that the phone is S-off'ed and unlocked. but firewater complained about not being rooted. I am confused.

Hey, your phone is already unlocked! So just flash supersu thorough Fastboot to get root.

As said right above me....you're all set to go. Use fast boot to push a recovery and then flash super su zip. If you need the zip I can attach it later.

Funny. There have been other threads where people are asking how to root DNA 4.4.2. They have been referring them to this thread So I guess I am not SO dumb.
Anyhow, as I remember, there are a couple of ways to flash. 1) from the PC using ADB and from the phone using an IMG file right? What is the easiest way to flash the Recover file? Which version of ClockWorkMod is going to be compatible with 4.4.2 and where would I find the download? Also, one last question, which SuperSU version is going to be compatible and where is the best download?

[q] decrypt message on evo 4g lte running meanbeam

Hi guys DEVs and NOOBs. Here's the issue: Son's unlockecd phone started restarting by itself. 2 weeks ago he said he looked at it and it was in safe mode. Since then it was restarting. Now it's asking for decrypt password. Never put one on so I don't know what it is. Phone is running Mikey's MeanBean (who no longer supports this) and is S-Offed. I've done all kind of restarts (hot, normal, boot loader) and it starts up normally but when it comes to the screen unlock BOOM...Decrypt password. And it restarts in airplane mode. The only thing I can do when doing screen unlock is make emer. calls. I'm hoping that I don't have to completely wipe the phone (but copied files on SD just in case). HELP!!!
I would suggest running an RUU. Possibly the latest that will update you to android 4.3 and sense 5. It will wipe internal storage so back up if you can.

Like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2653730?
More specifically, this:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23329332407577420
For info how to install the RUU, click the top link in my sig and scroll down to the section on RUU's.
I've downloaded the RUU file to my pc but there weren't any instructions on how to install. What are the next steps? It's my first time having to do this in like forever and I don't want to brick the phone.
I have TWRP. Could I take the phone back to stock from there and then just download Sense 5?
UPDATE: So sorry. Didn't read your response correctly. Off I go to try this! Thanks! I'll thank you again once it works!
UPDATE
So I've managed to relock the bootloader thanks to QbKing77. However, I need to proceed with throwing on the RUU given to me but QbKing77 suggests that downloading the HTC drivers. The link on his website for the drivers is dead. Does anyone else know where I can get them?
Just install HTC Sync.
Success!!

I just wanted to say thanks for the help. I fixed it and my son is loving the new look! Now I don't have to put him out of the house for saying he wanted an iPhone! Told him "Look, you wouldn't be able to do all this with that fruit fly phone!" Thanks again! :good:
Glad to help:thumbup:
