Has anybody with an ATT Atrix 4G and grandfathered unlimited plan from the hay days moved on to an LTE device (i.e. Note II) and have kept their unlimited plan with LTE?
I'm still on my grandfathered iPhone 2G (yeah i know, lesson learned) plan that was "upgraded" to 3G and was looking to upgrade my phone in the near future. But wasn't sure if I could still hang on to my unlimited. I still have my Atrix, but being stuck on gb and no HWA on ICS/JB.. it's kind of a bummer.
I upgraded my phone to a Moto Atrix HD and kept my Unlimited data. The phone is 4G LTE and works great. So Yes is your answer.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Hopefully this phone will last me until some of those hyped devices come out

I recently upgraded my wife's phone from a Samsung Cappy (3g) to the SG III (LTE) and her unlimited plan transferred just fine.

Has anyone used simple mobile on a 717Note I am on CM9 and not unlocked yet but curious if anyone has been able to obtain the 4g speeds they offer for 60$ unlimited everything.
Just get T-mobile's monthly 4G $30/month plan. Unlimited text and web (5gbs at 4G) and 100 mins. You can't beat that.

3G?.. Lol, after 2 gb you are down to dial up speeds... You can't avoid that no matter which plan you choose on prepaid. Atleast on the tmo plan you have 5gb which is pretty epic.
If you want truly unlimited, you are stuck with Sprint contract plans. And they are only unlimited because they are slow as ****.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
You misread my post. I can find unlimited non capped 3g speeds anywhere. I wanted unlimited 4g. And how do I go about getting that tmobile plan? Prepaid? Can I use my old SGS4G sim card? And is there a free unlock option available yet?
I had simple mobile and let me tell u it was worse than wen i had cricket when they first emerged so ya stick with a real provider

I dont care about phone calls btw. I will be using Groove IP to make all my calls like I do now I just need a decent usable data connection.
How about H2O? I use it and get at least 1mb up and down. Sometimes I would get 2mb up and down. Its not as fast as everything out there but I do live in long island. Might be different in other places and you don't need to unlock your note. Just put in the similar card and download an app to configure data and SMS. And your good to go. $60 a month is better than $170 a month

Do yourself a favor and order the straight talk sim card....straight talk is att lil brother....my speeds at lowest are around 6mb down..... 1.5 or 2 up....excellent signal.....I love it.....straight talk is the way to go....and btw its 45 unlimited everything......

guys, i just got the phone today, i have been using Iphone 4s , i put my 4s sim card in the s3 but there was no internet conection , voice call and wifi are working fine, i got the S3 was for my for second line
Call at&t (611) and tell them to update your iPhone data plan to a LTE plan.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
i am worry if i call them i would lose my iphone unlimitted data plan, i though it will works if you have any smart phone plans
Just tell them you need the plan changed to LTE, but want to keep unlimited. I had an unlimited iPhone plan from a 3GS and have been transitioned to a normal 4g/hspa+ plan for a Titan, to an LTE plan for the GS3 and haven't lost unlimited.
^^^^ +1. This.
You will NOT lose unlimited. Just say "I need to update my data plan to unlimited LTE please".....almost everyone on XDA (or those who still have unlimited) have done this many times. No worries.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
No problem, they will keep you on the unlimited plan -
thanks you guys very much for the help, last questions if iphone 5 come out and i upgrade my line am i still have my unlimitted plan , is this why i dont have internet connection on my S3 cause i need to change it to LTE plan

Unlimited will be yours until either you remove it or when at&t pulls a Verizon and makes you give it up when upgrading ...and yes, chances are your data isn't working because you aren't on LTE.

Whats the deal with upgrading from 3g to 4g with verizon now? If I buy a used rezound (not from verizon) and upgrade to 4g will I be losing my unlimited data now?

My understanding was yes. You will have to go to Verizon have them key it in the system and activate a sim card.

Nope. Just requires a new sim card that you can get for free from vzw. You're not changing plans or getting a phone from them so it shouldn't matter.

due to the globalocity of the Rez and my VZW contract ending in April, I have purchased a T-Mobile Monthly SIM card online and will be trying out the data/call quality/etc. The plan I am eyeballing is $30 a month for unlimited data/text and 100 minutes.
After much searching, I am expecting that when I put this sim card in, 2 things will happen:
1. the superior radio and leaked global rom will allow me to get HSPA+ speeds on TMO network, make calls, send SMS/MMS, dance, and be merry.
2. once I re-insert my Verizon SIM card, it will be as if I never put the TMO card in, and my plan (including unlimited data) will remain intact.
are these the proper assumptions?
That would be nice, but unfortunately the Rezound radios have (so far) been unable to utilize the tmobile frequencies. Until it is figured out (it has been deemed impossible as yet) you will only be able to use edge network. Calling, sms, mms, and data all work. But data will be stuck at edge network.
The stock global leak may take some tinkering to get all parts working. I recommend a gsm compatible rom, as that will prove the least amount of effort on your end to get up and running.
Fair warning: edge network is usable.. But going from 25mbps to 120kbps is not a fun transition. I'm doing it myself, presently. Awesome devs for the Rez are the only things keeping me from buying a new phone that I can't afford.
Also, just to elaborate on going backward, as long as you don't port your number over (as that would cancel your vzw plan), you will be able to clean flash a cdma rom (or restore a nandroid) to get back on the Verizon network. I have yet to find a rom that allows both modes with everything working just from swapping the sim.

Gotta love TMo getting shafted, or rather shafting themselves, by operating on such an odd frequency in the US
You can get hspa on tmobile with a gsm rom

I m using edge on GSM network , it not that bad for browsing , but yes for video streaming it sucks
I know folks here are mostly enthusiastic about the One so please encourage me for strong reasons to stay...
I am from Verizon ... giving up their unlimited data plan
And from Galaxy Note 2 ... giving up the 3100 mAH battery...
What do you think, if you were me....
I am so torn but HTC One is just too beautiful to pass
I don't necessarily think the One is worth it, but AT&T gets almost every phone or can use the international version. I switched to AT&T from Verizon 2 years ago for that reason, and there has never been a phone on the market that I wanted but couldn't have Well worth it.

I wouldn't give up unlimited data IF they're not throttling data after 5gb. Which I'm told they're doing

Verizon is forcing everyone off unlimited data on next phone upgrade. So even if you stay on Verizon you will not have unlimited data for long unless you buy the phone off contract.

Don't do it your gonna hate it. All att has is the best phones and great service and top lte. Not to mention the HTC one. Honestly if you need convincing I suggest you just stay put.

I would do it. Just pulled the trigger myself. and like it was said, you will be buying a full price phone, on verizon anyway since they are killing unlimited plans. And the One is oh so sexy! Time to put my note 1 on craigslist.

Was really thinking of switching to AT&T from Verizon for the ONE. But Verizon just announced that they are offering any phone for 99 down and a monthly payment plan... And we keep the unlimited data. I have 2 lines.

I have to second this. Verizon's network coverage was (and still is) great, but their limited selection of phones always drove me nuts! AT&T used to have a reputation for slower network speeds and poor service, but they're worth it now!

Yeah no complaints about AT&T service here. My LTE is consistently faster than my Verizon friends here in the D.C. area.

Any folks near New York area using ATT service? Do you have coverage when you have some road trip to Bear Mountain or some other hiking place?
My biggest fear was losing data connection when you need the driving direction the most.
Verizon saved me once in Ithaca back then near those wineries, but I am not sure if AT&T can pull off the same there....
Thanks for any comments here.
I am not so concerned about the unlimited thing because my wife will still be using Verizon's unlimited line in our family plan. Not like I lose such option forever.
I'm from Albany, drive down to Long Island a lot, take the Amtrak train occasionally. LTE is hard to come by, but Hspa is pretty consistent. No complaints at all. I jumped from big red in 2011 and haven't looked back. AT&T has been great to me.

I'm in the same boat - gave up VZW + Unlimited data, and I had a Galaxy Nexus. Just got my HTC One after a week wait (argh). What a great device!
AT&T 4G (at least download speeds) are so much slower than VZW's (from speedtests). The upload on AT&T 4G is slightly faster. Overall happy with the service here.
I'm onboard too I switched from Verizon and I'm pleased with the service! Yeah the lte isn't as fast but I barely use data... I was dropping calls left and right on Verizon and I haven't yet on att

Yeah but basically you are paying twice for the phone. Verizon does not lower the price of their plans which includes a new phone subsidy, then on top of that they take the full price of the phone and charge you monthly for that until you pay it off. And lastly a $24 financing charge. Verizon is the ultimate scam corporation.
