It's happened this morning during my chem lab class. I thought it was one of the machines in the lab until I pulled my phone out and realized it was me. So I thought it was a text bomb or a phone call. My phone exhibited none of those notifications. I then realized my phone was on silent and was still doing it. Changed to vibrate, same thing. Changed to loud, same sound at same loudness as it was on silent. Decided to power off and the beeping kept going during the power down sequence. Once powered down, when I quickly pushed the power button it would beep again. Phone wouldn't power on. Push the power button again and hold it down beep comes back during the power up sequence. Th fix I found was to turn off fast boot and power down and back up. Hitting the restart button probably would have done the same.
I took a video of the issue after my lab class was over. Didn't want to try anything around acids and flames.

I'm curious about how and why this happened. It started while it was in my pocket!

Mine has done that and I have seen other people reporting the same. Maybe network related.
It has happened to me twice .. all I did was a simple reboot and it stoped. I don't know what cause it.

Yep. That's weird.
idk about the problem, but just try disabling fastboot and then rebooting it? worth a try...

What does stock have to do with disabling fastboot? i guess i didn't really make it clear, but i mean the fastboot settings in the settings for stock. The setting that doesn't let a legit shutdown happen i think...just go into settings turn it off and then turn your phone off for like 5 mins and boot back up and see if it fixes the issue...

Go to settings > Battery > remove the check mark for Fast Boot.
Done and fixed issue. As described in my posting.

For some reason I can't shut my touchpad down. If I hold the power button down, not much happens until I release the button. Then the screen turns off. Tap it again and it's back.
Any ideas?
thats strange try a hard reset, hold the power button and the home button down for literally a minute or so or until it resets. it will reboot into moboot hopefully. you might have to do that and go back into webos to completely shut down. good luck
Thanks for the reply, I was just trying it when the battery ran out!
But I'll give it a go if the problem returns, thanks.
Ran into the same problem today. The power menu, along with various power/reboot widgets wouldn't work, but after about 20 seconds of holding home+power it worked and booted to moboot.
I had this happen to a coworker, after I had recently upgraded her to alpha3. I tried everything to repair it before deciding to start from scratch. The best thing to do is restart using the power and home buttons (hold them until reboot).
Then think about reinstalling.
Good luck!

I had this same issue today. I downloaded Quick Boot from the app store and it allowed me to restart. Worked great
just happened me too, it MAY have something to do with low battery, i noticed someone above had the problem with low battery. mine happens to be low too
also, i turned off lockscreen earlier, maybe that was related.
hi, ive got a weird quirk im not sure what triggers this but it happens randomly it seems, just wondering if anyones gotten anything similar happening and if anyones found a fix besides rebooting.
So, ive got an amaze (of course) on wind mobile, stock non rooted/etc yet.
the issue is ill go to work listening to mp3's, get to work unplug headphones and audio stops playing as normal when that happens, ill sit down to work and get a txt or a call on the phone and it rings as normal, so thinking ill be nice to co workers i go to turn down the volume of the ringer, but instead of it turning down the ringer volume as normal when no mp3's are playing, it turns down the media volume, and i cant see how to get it back to default mode where it wants to allow me to change the ringer volume with the rocker volume button on the phone with out rebooting or going into the audio settings and changing it there.
its a pretty minor thing i know but its just enough to be annoying.
what happens when you go to the phone/dialpad? just copied what you did and mine switches as normal.
your phone should be switching to the correct volume slider depending on what you have open/running. I've never run across a switch that disables that...
If all else fails put a shortcut to audio settings on your home screen
Ive rebooted now so its fixed, ill try that after my walk home, started thinking maybe winamp isnt shutting down cleanly or something.
the odd thing is it doesn't happen all the time outa the 10 times a week i use headphones and change volume after it it only happens maybe 3-4 times a week..
hrm short cuts an idea if it keeps happening, tho im probably gonna unlock and flash this soon so maybe that wont happen anymore.

I'm not sure if it's at all related, but I have a different volume quirk. Occasionally, when I plug my phone in to charge it, the ringer volume drops down to minimum. Not to silent or vibrate, just to the lowest setting where it actually still rings. It's probably unrelated, but it could be some glitch in the volume control somewhere.
I have heard of this problem before but I can't seem to find any way to fix it.
I was in an app, the app froze but haptic feedback was still working, held down power to restart, phone vibrated but nothing on screen.
I have not had any screen problems before.
What do I do to fix or troubleshoot this?>
Thanks

can you access recovery?
Did you try holding it down for 30+ seconds? It can sometimes take a really long press to trigger reboot.

hey,
a couple of hours ago, I started a podcast on my Z5c and put the phone aside, podcast playing over the speakers.
Now I can not access it any more, screen is black, LED does not blink, no response to power button.
However, the podcast is still playing.
seems to me this is the known "sleep of death" problem, only the device is running.
how can I solve this?
thanks so much

I though at first that would not work either (since the power button was not responding) but at the third try, it worked, many thanks
I experienced the exact same problem on my [email protected]
Solution: Hold Volume Up & Power until it vibrates 3 times. Then you can boot up your phone as normal.
Hi,
My phone has a faulty power button and I'm unable to get it fixed. I've found easy work-arounds for it for locking and unlocking the phone. However, I'm not sure how to turn on the phone if it's switched off.
When I connect the charger, even if the battery is 90% it won't turn on on its own...

Nope, the only way I could turn it on was to open the back cover (very painful process) and then press the button area with a pin.
Couldn't get it fixed, so I had to change the phone.
I think there are possibilities in rooted phones, but otherwise the best thing to do is to keep a battery alarm at 30% or more, and keep it on charging whenever you can to avoid a power off. In power on, there are many ways of locking the screen in the MI UI.

Thanks. I installed Blocco Schermo - Simi Studio v.3.21 , a simple app to lock the screen...and when i flagged the option "show in notification area" , the problem magically disappeared.. The Power On/Off button started to work again. I think it was an hardware problem (because the problem has come up after the phone was at the sunlight for hours in my car and went very hot) but now i think it's obviously a software problem.
Hi guys, I got the same problem too. Unfortunately, I drained my batt while playing games. So the problem now is I can't turn it on. Any idea how to turn on the phone without using the power button?
I solved it
Hi guys i solved a problem! You should hold main button + down volume button for 10-20 seconds. Then, when MI Remote opens, stay on the reboot and wait about 3 minutes, then stay on the reboot systems as well. Great work!
just change the volume flexible. its also not took much cost.
