HELP.Problem updating to jelly bean - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Hi,
I have HTC evo 4g lte. I had the latest version of MeanRom installed on the phone and everything was
working. Today I decided to upgrade to BeanRom and followed the instructions in this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2048229
My phone information:
Ulocked Jewel S-on
hboot - 1.15
radio 1.05.11.0606
In the instructions it said:
if your radio baseband is less than 1.12.11.1119, you have to update to 1.12.11.1119 before flashing any of these firmwares.
My version was lower so I tried to install the 3.15.651.16 JellyBean OTA "Full" Firmware zip through TWRP v 2.4.1.0 but it was getting an error:
it said FAILED. (maybe because of S-ON)
I decided to install the Boot.img Only (signed) using HBOOT. This worked, it installed.
My phone doesn't boot into MeanRom anymore and I am not sure what to do next. It says before I can install 3.16 I should install full version of 3.15.
Please help. Thank you.

You should have gotten s-off rather than spending so much time trying to work around it.

Without S-off I don't know how you're going to update firmware other than relock and ruu. I'm not real familiar with that, I'm S-off. Good luck. Post in Q&A
From my Evo LTE, yup.

[Q] Bootloops when flashing roms with hboot 1.4 s-off

I've been trying to flash some of these new roms such as Cool ICS and SolidRom MyUI, both to no avail. I am on h-boot 1.4 with s-off. The last successful rom I had running on the phone was ICS MIUI. I had tried flash these roms on ext4 initially, then I tried twrp and both without success. Any tips/suggestions to get one of these roms to work?
Do I need a newer h-boot in order to flash these newer roms with newer kernels? If so, then how/what do I flash without losing s-off?
Well here goes nothing...going to try jbear's 1.58 hboot.
I still get bootloop after installing Cool ICS...
Getting bootloop with SolidRom MyUI as well. Could use some help please.

Yup, did a full wipe for prior to flashing every new rom. I have actually gotten SolidRom to work after installing the ICS firmware update img, but I still can't get Cool ICS to work.

If you are s-off then this should be easy to fix.
Some HBOOTs can only work for certain firmwares.
So if you want to run a ICS rom, you need to upgrade your hboot to either stock hboot 1.58, or Jbear's 1.58.5858
To upgrade your hboot, download the correct hboot from ramjet73's post here then rename the file to PG86IMG with the files extension as .ZIP
Place that on the root of your SDcard and boot into your bootloader. Accept the update, then restart your phone.
***EDIT***
I wasn't correct on some of the hboots and got some mixed up with the gsm EVO, for more info on hboots go to the link which ramjet73 has posted below.
I HOPED THIS HELPS!
MY PHONE
HTC EVO 3D
S-OFF and UNLOCKED
ROM: Team D.I.R.T. Unofficial AOKP v3.3
KERNEL: ButteredToasT-RLS v13.6
HBOOT: 1.40.0000
RECOVERY: 4EXT Touch Recovery

Then there are the newer firmwares that everyone has been having a fit over, 1.50, 1.58.0000, 1.53, 1.58.5858 (this is the Juopunutbear's custom hboot)
Those are the hboots that run only SPRINT/VM ICS roms.

You might want to read through this thread to get the correct information on CDMA hboots. Most of those you mentioned are Sprint bootloaders (the only VM bootloaders are 1.57 and JBear 1.57.5757) but 1.53 is for GSM phones only.

Leogy,

Need Help Trying To S-Off But Confused about my Hboot/Software Version

Okay guys So I'm a little confused right now. Im running MeanBean 3.01 currently 1.12 S-On. My Build is 3.15.651.3. At the Unlimited site the directions say 1.12 is NOT compatible with 2.09. Do i upgrade to 1.15 or 1.19? Also since I'm S-On I don't think I've ever fully updated my firmware. Reading about all these recent bricks due to people not properly updating firmware has me a little worried. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
As per the unlimited site, use ruu for hboot 1.15. Then follow directions from there.

No i believe you will have to wait until the .3 RUU is released.
See my post and replies in the Viper thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2124391&page=140
I was in the exact same situation. Running Meanbean with the same baseband and firmware.
Following the s-off process at http://unlimited.io/jewel.htm and ignoring the 3.16 part got me back to stock RUU and I was able to s-off no problem.
I ran the Ubuntu liveCD 12.4 from a bootable usb stick.
You *might* be able to do that and get back to stock/unrooted. No guarantees though as what works for one, might not work for the next.
i didnt think the 3.16.651.3 firmware would let you run the .16 RUU

Either did I. But the peeps in that thread were pretty sure it would work and it did.
I think it was because I didn't take the official update to. 3... I used mean bean. Either way, I here is my info after s-off and installing viper 3.0.1

You're not on the 3.16.651.3 firmware. You're on 3.16.651.3 software. Not the same thing.

interesting because when i tried running the RUU for .16 it said i had .3 and it wouldn't work? maybe i messed something up. so does that mean i can run the .16 RUU and achieve s-off even being on .3? damn i wish i would have s-off'd right when i got the phone now lol all these different versions and RUU are confusing as hell.
Just go to the unlimited site, they explain everything, its really simple if you take your time.

I'm unlocked, with twrp recovery 2.6.0.0. Unlimited IO no longer supports Windows7

Depends upon your Hboot version. If you're on Hboot 1.12, 1.15, 1.19 or 2.09 (software version 3.15, baseband/radio ending in 1119) you can use Facepalm. If you're on Hboot 2.09 (software version 3.16, baseband/radio ending in 1210) you can use Moonshine. Both methods are Windows friendly and can be found in the Original Development section. Hit the link in my sig for more info.

Download and flash meanbean, just follow the instructions in the OP, it has a s-on kernel installer so you have to flash the rom twice... Good luck!

[Q] Newbee trying to install a custom room, have s-off

I followed some videos on youtube and have the following:
Radio S-Off
4Ext latest
Rooted phone.
I am now venturing into custom ROMs, one thing I realized that I have not taken ANY OTAs in a at least a year and a half on my sprint EVO 3D. So, my System Info is as follows:
Android Version: 2.3.3
HTC Sense: 3.0
Software number: 1.13.651.7
HBoot 1.40
I was looking into Cool ICS Rom, but it says I need to have a newer firmware and HBoot 1.58
I am not sure how to upgrade my firmware?
Can someone please point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
RoSahas.

This is what I am going to try and then install an ICS HBoot after the RUU:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32174176&postcount=52
Try installing the firmware only zip of the latest ruu that should work 1.40 hboot shouldn't stop you from installing a ROM in fact I don't think any hboot can don't quote me on that

Okay hboot versions can be incompatible with different roms. Here is a general rule of thumb for cdma (sprint) 3d's. Latest firmware seems to work with every rom. Older firmware will not work with htc's ics roms.
Hboot 1.58 - works on htc's ics roms
Hboots 1.04-1.50 - works with htc's gingerbread roms and source built roms gb, ics, jb.
Now some of the custom htc ics roms will work with any hboot.
Always read the OP and check for requirements. FYI of you are s-off than you can change Hboots without much hassle. I will do a write up on hboot flashing.
Also if a rom wont boot or bootloops after installation it is most likely wrong hboot or you are using old firmware.
