Service menu apk - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi folks,
There is a hidden Service menu acessible by dialing *#*#197328640#*#*, on SGS SIII (it seems to be part of towchwiz).
This secret code launches an apk but I do not know what it is, and this apk, shows a lot of information, one of these is the frequency (In MHz) that is in use by the device.
I need this information, to buy an gsm repeater/amplifier, to my house because the signal strength is very weak, and my carrier, have licences to operate in two frequencies in my region.
So, can someone discover that apk, extract it, and post it here, so I can try to install it on my Galaxy Nexus?
It could ensure that I will buy the correct repeater.
Thanks

You can find it by downloading a stock ROM or Touchwiz based ROM onto your computer, unzipping it, and looking for serviceModeApp.apk. However, I highly doubt that it will work with the Galaxy Nexus. You can find the Galaxy Nexus service menu codes Here

[Q] Secret Codes

Anyone know of any "secret codes" to get into the cell modem / phone part of this device? (like the */# codes for phones)
I see via google that some tablets use codes intered into the calculator.
The main thing I am looking for it a way to disable HSPA+
the "4g" if you can call it that seems to be messing with my vpn. I would be happy to go back to 3g speeds till they get it fixed.

[Q] Inability To Select Network Provider

Longtime listener, first time caller here. The situation is simple: my ability to select a network operator is greyed out on my Note (running the latest Unofficial GB "Emily" ROM). The phone was previously unlocked using a purchased code and I often use it with non-AT&T SIMs while traveling. The problem is when the wrong network shows up while roaming, I can't such to manual network selection.
What can I do? Some posts on other phone forums suggest flashing a different radio (perhaps Rogers?) but I am not sure that applies here. I seem to remember the ability to select the operator in the past, so could it be the non-stock ROM? I would appreciate any bits of wisdom the community is willing to share.

[Q] Galaxy s3 H+ and video call issues

Hi, I've recently bought a Galaxy S3, Module: SHV-E210L from a website it seems to be original i check with some apps on the Appstore.
But for some reason it can only connect to 3G while in my galaxy s2 i could connect to H+.
I tried to upgrade the firmware to 4.3 but it didnt help. Also I cant make video calls i got this weird icon on the status bar that i guess i related and when i try to make a video call i get: Videos Calls not supported in international roaming area.(I attached a file with the icon)
I tried to deselect roaming(althogh my carrier said to keep it on) it didnt help.
Thank you very very much for the support
Your in the i9300 / 305 forum you need help from the e210l community.
The S3 you bought is a Korean model and so its optimised for Korean network bands. By using it in your own country the phone thinks its roaming, hence why a.) You have two clocks on your lockscreen and b.) You can only connect to 3G and not H+ or 4G LTE (that variant is 4G enabled).
Its probably also why you can't make video calls.
Thank you for your replies ill go to the other forum, but can you please tell me if there is anything i can do about it? like a installing some other rom or something?

Help with Unlocked T-Mobile S5

OK, I cannot find this information anywhere so maybe someone here can help me.
My wife bought a Galaxy S5 and we had quickly paid it off. Because we only get 2G where we live , we decided to switch to Straight Talk.
After a week of Straight Talk not working correctly (we would have Full LTE service but could not make or recieve calls) we then ported to Cricket AIO.
We are having the same issue and don't know where to start. I wiped out the factory image and installed a debloated Rom thinking removing some
T-Mo junk would help but it doesn't. Everything is correct, APN settings and all. Can somebody shed some light and let me know what to try next?
Thanks
Try *#2263# from the dialer and select GSM networks instead of automatic.
Let us know how it goes.
I am currently using a t-mobile galaxy s5 on cricket without any problems.
Using the stock rom (rooted) I have a cricket SIM card in the device. I booted up the device, went to settings, then more networks, then mobile networks, then default setup and chose automatical. Then, I chose the automatic network option. You could always use the search now option and manually select AT&T.
Next I added the APN. The cricket website has them available so you can manually add them, but I actually had a little icon pop up that let me install them automatically.
Either way, correct APN is essential for texts and LTE.
I then downloaded titanium backup and manually removed t-mobile bloatware. I then downloaded the cricket apps that were recommended (cricket sent a text with the apps when I inserted the cricket SIM)
Finally, I edited the build.prop to say the device is a cricket galaxy s5. I think I changed it to model klteaio.
Other than the boot animation (which I could change if desired) this device is now identical to my Cricket galaxy S5 that I also own. It even says cricket on the top bar like the Cricket branded device. As a matter of fact, the back cover and the startup animation are the only way I can tell the difference between the two.

You may want to consider using an app called LTE discovery from the app store to ensure you have lte as an option. I have found that selecting the WCDMA/GSM option instead of the default LTE/WCDMA/GSM under settings-> MOBILE NETWORKS -> NETWORK MODE sometimes provides better service on cricket when the LTE signal is poor. This will turn off LTE, but leave 3G, 2G, talk services enabled.
Good luck.
Zero Lemon was the issue.
After a bunch of testing, I figured out that the zerolemon 8,500mah battery seemed to cause the issue. When we put the original battery back in, calls worked just fine. I tried again with the zerolemon and calls failed.
Thanks for reporting back. I wonder if your extended battery pushes too much load on your device.
If you happen to pop-in the lemon again, put this code in your dialer and let us know what Voltage reads your getting.
Also mention the battery's charge level at the time.

Straight talk on i605

I've had an issue crop up every now and then esp if i switch roms. Right now I'm running the nameless 5.0 ROM t0lte on my i605 and sometimes it gets stuck on edge. Here's some help with getting 4g back.
Go to phone dialer and type *#*#4636#*#*
Should take you to a special menu. Click the top selection should be phone info.
Select band as in attached image.
Also go into settings where you change apn and make sure APN info looks like attached files. Then goto network operators and search for.. Try one of the at&t ones.
This should work
