[Q] Now that ICS is out, anyone planning a MIUI build? - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Now that we have a new, official ICS build, could an ICS MIUI be on the horizon?

There are miui v4 builds with no data though.. we need a dev to be able to fix the data problem on miui

Then we still will likely have the MMS issue if they get data working.

[Q] ICS AOSP Port

Hi there
Is there any dev that would try to make an AOSP Port of ICS?
If i knew how to Port a Rom i would have tried it but i dont Know how to do this
Sent from my SK17i using Tapatalk
from what i've seen here.. there is not much dev working on this phone.. may be due to not having test unit, maybe there will be ics port but not in few months time.
why so eager to get ics? i think SE is already crafted most amazing piece of art(sk17) i'm still on stock 2.3.3 w/o any major problem.
I just dont want to wait half a year till Sony releases ICS...
Sent from my SK17i using Tapatalk
So no dev there that wants to try it?

AFAIK there will be only the closed beta for the testing team today.
I guess we wont see a SGS2 MIUIv4 anytime soon...
Couple of weeks anyway

I don't care much about MIUI but here is the QUOTE from fb page
" Sorry, MIUI V4 for i9100 can’t be tested until next week because of too many bugs. MIUI V4 for sensation will be tested by beta team this week as planned. "
Sent from my GT-I9100 on CM9 using Tapatalk
Unfortunately, it's true. The closed-beta it's not ready yet because of bugs. We should wait some couple of weeks before the final release of MIUI v4. Right now I'm happy with my GB version

CM9 for Thunderbolt

This is probably more of a discussion for the CM forum, but I figured I'd post here anyway.
Do you guys think we will see CM9 or even possibly CM10 for the Thunderbolt? If not, what about AOKP or MIUI (official releases). I don't see why not granted that we already have working data on 4.0.4.

CMOD listed the Thunderbolt for an official CM9 release. The only thing they are waiting for is the official OTA.

That's awesome news. What's stopping them from working with the leak opposed to the official OTA? The leaked copy is close to flawless. The only problems I saw with it was the Sense 3.6.
The official release marks the start of the 90 day period for kernel source release. That is what they are waiting on

i am attempting to compile cm9, no promises. I do have the go-ahead from jester to kang his RIL though :victory:
I've been thinking about trying to do that too but I remember a post about some others doing it and it failed everytime. Plus I still don't have Linux setup on my pc.

I know a good deal about programming... Where would be a good start on porting ROM's such as getting CM9 on the Thunderbolt. I'd love to spend some time working with ROM's, I just haven't gotten around to read any documentation.

What he is doing isn't porting. He's actually attempting to compile cm9 straight from their source.

The problem is that we don't have a cm9 base you can use to make the port. If someone is successful at compiling cm9 we will have a base to work with.

Use liquid as a base because they used cm9 as a base for them. I wouldn't see why it would not work..
Sent from my ThunderBolt using Tapatalk 2
I think it's interesting they are giving ICS a go when we aren't even officially supported on CM7. Cant' even find nightly builds on get.cm/
Liquids base would probably work but I think it would be important for him to select the right phone to port from as liquids Rom is a port.

Sync worked fine, now attemping to find the mecha-specific files somewhere on the interwebs
Nice. Ill test if you come up with something.

So am i, but i cant get the repo to sync with out errors. still working on this, but my time is limited. hope you beat me to it.
I think liquid used the nexus. I would probably try porting the inspire 4g or desire hd. Both of those are more similar to this phone.

Howdy, I have Thebyani Jelly Bean Rom Beta 6 in my SG2 and so far I love it, evreything works great until now that I found out Tethering doesnt work. I read that the developer is planning to release a Beta 7 but he have some health issues and will not be able to work on it for now, but wonder if TETHERING will be cover on that new Beta.
Anybody knows how to fix it?
Thanks

Moving from stock 3.1 rooted - which rom is the most stable for everyday use ?

Hi
I want to upgrade my p7500 3G with new rom.
now I have 3.1 rooted only.
I want it to be as stable as possible because of everyday use.
Can you suggest me the most stable rom to do this job ?
I have htc desire so i know the regular stuff about android (backup...) but may be there are critical difference that i should know before i start flash custom rom ?
my bootloader is p7500xxkg3
this is a wifi - 3G version.
thank you for helping
Lior

Read before you flash anything. CM9 or CM10 would be my vote.
CM 10 11/29 nightly rocks. Far smoother and faster than stock and everything works.
I can't find CM10 from 29/11.
From what I know, nightly is not stable version or do I think wrong because I used to this word from Desire forums.
How do I start after I make a TB ? Do I need to update to 3.2 via OTA first ?
So, after upgrading to 3.2 via Kies, I downloaded official ICS from sammobile and installed it. Rooted again and for now everything seems to be fine. Just needed to place the icons again on home screens.

Hi If you are looking for a solid Jellybean (4.1.2) ROM you can find the Cyanogenmod 10 Rom download.cyanogenmod.org (I'm assuming you have the standard WiFi Galaxy tab which isdesignated p4wifi at cyanogenmod). Don't let the 'nightly put you off - at this stage of the game its extremely stable and definitely less flakey than Samsungs ICS release.
I took the plunge a week or two ago and have no regrets - best thing I ever did on this tablet.
Additonally once installed you will have access to regular OTA updates which is a brillliant feature
Don't forget Samsung have already stated that there will be no upgrades beyond ICS for this tablet
I have the P7500 model that is Wifi + 3G.

p4 is cyanogenmod codename for the P7500 model (get.cm/?device=p4). Mines the P7510 i.e. p4wifi
AOKP
The AOKP ROM (android 4.1.2) is great 8

flash support was taken out of JB, so if you want to use flash you'll have to find a work around. I know there is one, I've seen it in the forums.
I am using JellyBeanROM ICS V7 and must say, all necessary things are working just fine. Definitely a good daily driver. Using Yoda 2.4 Kernel with it.
No issues so far, going good. :good:

Just received my new jawbone icon bluetooth headset. After trying to configure it with the tab, I hear music in headset for 3 seconds and then from tab's speakers. Can somebody confirm that it is possible to use bluetooth headset with the tablet? In which rom it will work for sure?
