Lol no offense but lol haha.. 4.2.2 isn't even out yet officially but only as beta that can be sideloaded so what do you expect?

Backup everything, use nuke & kernel cleaning scripts and reflash ROM.

"Lol no offense" but what on earth are you talking about? Firstly he didnt mention anything about 4.2.2, He said LS8 which is 4.2.1 and HAS been officially released, doesnt make a difference whether its for another country or not.
@ OP
Reboot into cwm and wipe data/factory reset. If that doesnt help you should format emmc and sdcard or use nuke/clean scripts and then flash rom.
I think this is a general 4.1.x fault, I have a galaxy tab2 also on 4.1.1 now and it has got the same problem, every time you switch on from a full power down you have to select the default launcher again, set the stay-awake in developer options, select default music player, and any other default app if more than one is installed, was thinking of removing stock apps and replacing with the ones i want, ie remove default launcher and replace with adw-launcher in system so it is not uninstalable, etc any thoughts?
ps i tried the nuke and wipe scripts no better
only other thing is remove micro-sd
format internal storage
flash PIT,
reinstall stock from odin
but as the tab2 is also same problems i really can't see it doing any good. might go back to SLIM-BEAN rom i think
(only thing how can i port slim-bean to the tab2 as i would like the same rom on both devices this is another topic though)

Now then guys... i am thinking about rooting my phone to put jelly bean on my samsung galaxy s2 .... i was just wondering views on which is the best one to go for ( LINKS PLEASE ) and is it easy to do you know the usual questions you will have heard them before lol IM A NEWBIE !!!
Cheers People
Download Siyah 3.5.2.
http://www.gokhanmoral.com/gm/2012/07/29/siyahkernel-s2-v3-5/
Tar for Odin.
Then use this guide.
http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-s2-i9100-root-android-4-0-3-ics-xwlpd-88120/
Nevermind it says Cf-root. I flashed my Siyah kernel that way.
After that, flash any rom you want in recovery. Just do a Nandroid backup in recovery and backup apps with Titanium backup from Market!!!
Sent from my Galaxy S2 GT i9100
Don't restore apps after flashing newer ROM, cause your phone will bootloop.
Better create text file and write names of installed apps.
Im not sure why everyone is worried about backing up there apps ive flashed about a 100 roms and never had to back them up cause if u go to the play store under my apps there always there
Infact there are apps there id forgotten about just pick which ones u want and re install .some roms auto instal them for u .make sure you have a google acc obviously!

What type of data? Music and photos are saved to the external SD card for me, and as for game save data, I believe that is externally backed up as well.

Only if the application is on the external memory card then it's backed up there. Otherwise they'll loose the data if that's not the case.

If you restore from google play, you loose all your app settings and you will have to reconfigure each app.
Also, Google Play will not show apps installed offline (apk)
Restoring app data with third party app like titanium backup is safe if app is compatible with the target rom

one more question after i done tht tutorial how do i flash the rom to my phone?? and then how would you put another one on if i gt bored of tht one ?? cheers

CWM-and have you bothered reading a Rom thread as there's normally install instructions.
And when I get bored of a rom I just restore my nand backup of something previous.

in order to install a perticular custom rom , all u have to do is to follow the install instruction's of the same in there OP. and the same applies to all other roms also.
since installation instruction do vary from one custom rom to another
Jasper, you are better to read up on things so you are familiar with the processes of like rooting/kernels/roms/cwm/Odin/troubleshooting.
I understand reading 1000s of posts is tedious, but you could end up with a non working phone.

1. Omega V26.1 JB
2. Android Revolution 10.0.0
if you have other choice do mention that Rom with link also
Thanks in Advance
Aditya
Wipe data/cache/dalviks will not wipe internal memory. But accident do happens, so always backup important files.
Best rom discussion is banned. Anyway you can try the official JB (LIB).
You can always download to latest official firmware from Samsung through checkfus and flash using odin.

You update it by flashing the new ROM over the top of it when the foxhound Dev releases it. Exactly the same way as you did initially when first installing Foxhound.
Go to recovery
install zip from sd card (or wherever you downloaded it to)
Flash zip.
As long as you dont format data then you will not lose you apps etc.
Fix permissions is under "Advanced" in ClockwordMod recovery. It "fixes" the read/write/execute permissions of apps to make them compatible with the system.

But when i click the fixed permission it stuck... i wonder why.. i left it for about 5 mins n nothing happen..

I had that once. Just reboot the device let it boot fully. Everything will be ok.

OK....so I'm currently running Chameleon with jeboo kernel......
Just tried to do a nandroid restore from a backup compiled by PhilZ kernel. After doing the usual wipes the backup *seemed* to go through OK, but on startup I got a boot loop.....
Rebooted into (PhilZ) CWM and wiped dalvik and cache and rebooted....still boot loop. Don't want to factory reset as I'll delete all my apps and settings which kinda defeats the purpose of a nandroid.
The nandroid I tried to restore was a rooted debloated 4.1.2 firmware.....any ideas anyone?

Nandroid by default doesn't backup /preload partition, so you must include that in your nandroid backup to avoid bootloop in newer firmware versions. Especially if you are jumping around roms.

In cwm there is an option to include the /preload in our nandroid backup.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
OK...so found the option to restore preload under advanced restore....
But can't seem to find the option to create the image during backup....
Can I assume that it's backed up by default, but not restored unless the option to restore is selected?
Sent from my Chameleon powered S2 via XDA Developers App
For some reason I am getting an invalid thread id error when I am quoting you, anyway your reply, no,default nandroid doesn't include /preload, there are options like misc. Nandroid settings where we can select the option to include the /preload partition in our nandroid backup.
Edit:You will need to scroll down in cwm to see it.

Guess you will have to upgrade your cwm, I use 6.0.2.9 and it gives the option to include the /preload in misc. Nandroid settings, maybe it's given somewhere else in that version, did you try the backup and restore in the advanced menu, there we can specify every partition we want or don't want, compression.. Bla Bla.. It's pretty neat....

I've owned a couple of android phones over the last 15 months, but modding only started about 8 or 9 months ago.....
On my old phone (Galaxy W) Samsung left it behind at GB.....so I HAD to learn....
On this phone.....it's because I enjoy it and to some extent...because I can...
I'll be the first to admit that I don't know it all....but damn, I WANT to learn.....if I ended up being half as skilled as Chainfire or Codeworkx I'd be happy.....

We share similar dreams, I aim to be a really good developer myself professionally as well as part time, and have worked a lot for windows and android apps (though I have to REALLY polish my database skills) but to reach the level of Chainfire,.. I think it feels like trying to count to infinity. That guy is practically a hero for me. Best of luck, buddy, I really do think ours is a noble dream.

Lol coding alone ain't that tough, one app I made by myself looks terribly ugly I am ashamed of it because it looks that bad, (its an encryption and secure deletion app - still in beta) we need group's of skilled people to make something worthwhile(like designer..
