Call Verizon customer service and tell them you want to change the caller I'D name. It's controlled by the network not the phone, and could even say their names if you wanted.

In case of anybody interested changing there wireless ID.
Go to your My Verizon sign in. Go down to "I want to" then ckick on Device. Under device go to "Manage My Device". Finally, select "Share Name ID". From there you have 3 options 1st type your own ID name; 2nd Default, account holders name; Last option is "Wireless Caller"

(AT&T) Phone dialing incorrect contact

I tried a search for this but came up with nothing. I'm sure this has been asked somewhere on this forum bc it happened to me a few times on my last android phone. I touch to call a contact....the correct contact is pulled up but when it begins to dial it is a totally different contact. This is very annoying as I t end to use the gesture of placing phone to ear to dial and don't know this has happened until I'm speaking with someone I didn't want to speak with. When it's happening the only way to call the correct number is to dial from dialpad. Any ideas??

Trippy this happened just once the other day! Totally 100% anomaly

After doing a batt pull it seems to be corrected. Still crazy tho.

Doing it again. Ugh....I'm going to the AT&T store when I'm back in town from work And asking for a new one.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
Is it dialing a random contact or an adjacent entry? Had a similar problem once on android and it was a bug in the Rom.
Sent from my ATT S4 One X
Just random mostly the previously dialed number. Even does it if I select from address book instead of call log....def gonna request a new one.
Actually they are in stock at my local BB so I may return to AT&T and pick up at BB.

A similar thing happened to me but instead I received a txt message that was displayed as the wrong contact.
Exactly what I have seen in the past. Dials adjacent entry, shows adjacent text, and it would call the adjacent entry when dialing from texts. It was a Rom issue. Not hardware.

Question for Enterprise User with AT&T

I got a call from AT&T this morning. They offering me free iPhone 4s/32GB for free + 7.95 shipping charge to my bill. No other catches. No charge for activation or new line unless I chose to do so after I receive the phone. I was on the phone for 1/2 hour with the rep to make sure that there was no catches to it. Does any body that currently have the Enterprise account get the same call? If this is true ...sound like AT&T is in a hurry to get rid of IPhone. I am currently owned the Note.
Why would you get an iphone when you have the note? Lol
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Umm...I would. Ill take any phone for free, especially an iPhone 4s. Even with the 5 coming out I'm sure a brand new 4s can fetch a few bills

It's scam. Beware! Mod please close this thread
I did not believe it and call ATT lock my account, change my pass code. An hour later ATT called me back and let me know that someone try to apply 4 additional lines, change my address from California to Georgia. They could not get through cause I have change my pass code and lock down. Whew....too good to be true=scam . Was planning to give that iPhone to my Grandma. There is no way I am giving up my note for iphony. Hahaha
Mod ...please close this useless thread. Thank you.
No don't close it keep it open so people can know about the scams that are going on
Lesson learned: never give out personal info unless you are the one calling the company, so you know it's the right number, or you're standing in the store.

You are corrected. The only way to prevent this is tell the person that call you to provide their name and their employee info so you can call back into ATT line and ask them to connect to that person.

Additional information from AT&T fraud department for those who want to know:
1. AT&T never call you on promotion offer.
2. Promotion offers from AT&T only in form of emails and mailing.
Anyone call and offering promotion is SCAM.
That's what I got from AT&T fraud department call this morning.

And don't link through emails. They can be fake also. Open a browser page and Google the site or manually type in the address.
Wow that's messed up, they are pushing the Note I was able to upgrade even though I have 6 months left on contract

AT&T Forwarding question

Hey guys,
I have question regarding AT&T call forwarding. I know how to forward incoming calls on phone A to phone B, but my question is, can I forward outgoing calls from phone B to A also?
I have two AT&T phone numbers, but I don't wan't some people to know about my second phone number. Is there any way I can make phone calls on one phone, but make it appear like i'm calling from the other one?
I tried googling this like crazy, but I'm not even sure what the outgoing forwarding is called.
Thanks in advance
Get a Google Voice number.

Thanks a lot guys

Have you set up Google Voice to give you your own personalized phone number yet?

Yes, I've had my google voice number for about a year now. I have google voice set up on my phone for voice mail only.
From what I've read, what I'm trying to do is not possible.

No...you can't spoof it to show your "b" tele number.
It would have worked better with one att number and one Google voice number.
Unless there is an app that will do it.

I think they were suggesting you just get another Google Voice number to hide your real number. I'm guessing you can't use the same Google Voice number on multiple phones at the same time, but worth a try I suppose...

Blocking Texts

In the past, when I've blocked numbers through Sprint's 'My Device' preferences, the people I block that text me would get a quick text back from a 5 digit number stating that my phone isn't accepting text messages. That was when I was with any sense ROM, especially stock. With CM10.1 it does nothing. I'm assuming this is because it doesn't have the PRL Update, Profile Update, and Sprint Zone. Does anyone know if that is true? If that is true, before I give this a try myself, does anyone know if Sprint Zone is safe to run on an AOSP ROM? I'd assume not but at the same time I would think it would be alright. Or maybe Sprint just doesn't notify users anymore that another user isn't accepting text messages? Any help will be appreciated greatly.
Edit: I flashed MeanBean and that didn't seem to make a difference. Even with the service update immediately after making the changes. I'm at a loss here.

Try Mr. Number ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mrnumber.blocker) I find it helpful for unknown numbers as well since users can leave comments about telemarketers and what not.

Use a black listing app from the play store or the feature inside the SMS menu if your ROM supports it

Huh. That's odd. Never had that problem with that. I know that customers can do that through Sprint.com. The problem isn't finding a way to block numbers. The problem is that when I use any block option on Sprint.com that anybody who texts me, who isn't in Sprint, won't receive a message stating that my phone isn't accepting messages. Even though Sprint reps say that all users on any carrier receive that message. But I didn't expect a Sprint rep to know what they're talking about.
For future reference to everyone: read the post before replying. Just an idea.
Thanks for the help.

I using Chomp SMS for my sms app and it has blacklisting built it, just long press on the conversation to blacklist, pretty useful

Craigslist Selling Technique

I have a bunch of stuff I'm trying to sell on Craigslist, and I don't want to use my real phone number. What options do I have? A while back I used Google voice but it ended up messing up my real number.
It would be best to keep my number for personal things, friends family etc.. But then have a completely separate number for Craigslist deals.
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
Well... You could just leave an email address. Doesn't have to be your real one. Or just download a text app, they give you a number, just know that they sometimes don't let you call without buying minutes, but let you text all you want

Yes, I always use an app called Heywire. Its a free wifi texting app. You wont get a local number but its free. I use it whenever I sell on craigslist.
Google voice and groove ip so you can have both numbers at the same time

There's a few apps that designate non used numbers to use for texting. I'd check that out

You can use Google voice on your computer right from your Gmail account (if chat is enabled) and you have speakers/mic enabled. No cross setup with phone needed.
