Perfectly working XBMC with HW Decoding - Huawei MediaPad, T-Mobile SpringBoard

Good news for XBMC lovers! Now there is an version for Android with experimental HW video decoding and it works on the Mediapad 7" like charm!!!!
Here is a link to it: libstagefright - Experimental hardware video decoding builds
I am currently using the CleanICE v1.5 Rom
Enjoy!

Thank you for the tip, it works great! Maybe it is time for me to invest in a HDMI cable and let the Mediapad be the living room media center?!

Should we compile MPlayer for Android?

Howdy all,
For some time, I've been wanting a MPlayer port for the HTC Tattoo, so I can watch AVI, WMV and other media formats on the go, like you can do on the iPhone (once jailbroken and you've downloaded the Mplayer app from Cydia).
Is this possible to compile? Android would benefit from a better media player...
Cheers,
Coburn
Already done. See here:

cya
It's not really done - they made it in executing the mplayer binary on an android device but the app is really slow ATM and android ndk is not used also, so the app works but inacceptably slow :/
Have you make it works?
Could you offer the compiled package.
I am using xdandroid in raph800
If you can make it as good as the PC one, definitely YES! I believe it has great potential
I would like to have a decent video player like mplayer running under android. The question is can it be fast enough? Even with a 1 GHz cpu the software decoding could be quite a task.

[Q] Few questions about Dropad A8HD

I'm new to Android and recently bought a A8HD device from Honk Kong online shop.
I'm studying for a programmer, so I know some java and c++ but have never written an app for android.
I'm not afraid of bricking the device.
Here is what I need help with:
1. HD Video playback - it doesn't play 720p videos smoothly, I found
libOMX.SEC.AVC.Decoder.so, libOMX.SEC.AVC.Encoder.so, libOMX.SEC.M4V.Decoder.so libOMX.SEC.M4V.Encoder.so from drewgaren-Crespo-ICS-lib now 720p MKV, MP4 files that support HW acceleration work fine. Is there a way to fix the playback problem for the other files (MP4 and MKV that doesn't support HW acceleration, WMV)? Does anyone have libOMX.SEC.WMV.Decoder.so?
2. Random vibrations - sometimes in standby I get random vibrations. Is there a fix?
3. Change audio output when HDMI is connected: Is there a way to change audio output from HDMI to audio out when HDMI cable is connected? My monitor doesn't have speakers.
4. Battery life, is there a way to improve it? I heard of custom kernels that are more power efficient, can someone point me in the right direction?
5. Tablet blocks USB connection on screen timeout
6. Building a custom ROM. The manufacturer's firmware is full of bugs and they stopped support for my device (latest ROM is Android 2.3.4). I'm willing to build a custom firmware, but I need some directions. So I need the generic source code for Android (Manufacturer refuses to release the source for my specific device) and drivers for the hardware, am I right? From where I can find these drivers? Can you point me to a good guide for building a custom ROM?
Here are the HW specs:
CPU: SAMSUNG S5PV210
Video: POWERVR SGX54
Display: 1024x600 7" 5 point multitouch
CAMERA: 2.0 Megapixels
SOUND: WM8960G
Other features: GRAVITY SENSOR, Mic, Bluetooth, WiFI (don't know the brands, but I can open the device and search for the corresponding chips)
The device has 512RAM and 8GB flash.

[Q] HDMI Output Quality ICS

Hello,
I am trying out various ICS builds on my P7510 and noticed that every version I have tried (CM9 and AOKP) is outputting to my HD TV in 720p. In Honeycomb (Stock and GalaxyTask 14) it output to my HD TV in 1080p.
Is there a reason my tab in ICS seems to only output in 720p only. I have the official HDMI adapter and my TV supports 1080p.
I have searched Google and searched XDA but cannot find any answers.
Am I doing something wrong?
Many thanks,
Graham.

Sumvision nano Root Help

Im wondering if someone can help. Iv recently bought a Sumvision nano+ off ebay. So far i have found it hopeless. Doesnt quite seem to work very well and seems a bit devoid of features. I would like to root it and install a custom rom if possible.
It came with Android 2.3 and then sumvision released an ICS upgrade...although tbh it seems less stable now than it did with ICS. Web browser crashes alot, it drops internet signal, Iplayer doesnt like playing.
Is there anything i can do?
My phone is a SG3 with an Omega Rom and i love it. I would just like to perk up this android tv box.
Basic specs
Sumvision Code: ENCL-MEDIA-CYCLONE-NANO-SLPL-W

Try the Pivos XBMC rom
I have this box and have reflashed the device with the Pivos XBMC rom - follow the instructions on the Pivos forum (search for Official Pivos XBMC Linux port (Beta Release 100912)). It works really well - smooth HD video, quick to start up, and XBMC is an excellent media centre. Only downside is that the device is no longer running Android (so no Angry Birds)! You can always flash it back using the downloads on the Sumvision site.
Help with wi-fi please
Can you tell me how to get the wi-fi to work. thanks in advance

M8 has a very good performance, unfortunately the firmware is not always stable, and there still quite a few issues that needs to be fix.
PROS
Smooth and fast firmware.
Android 4.4 Kitkat
XBMC 13 pre-installed
Blu-Ray ISO and 4K video playback
1080p user interface
4K video output up to 30 fps supported
Good Ethernet performance (60 Mbps video playback OK)
Good video formats/codecs support
USB webcam works with Skype and Google Hangouts
HDMI CEC support
CONS
Stability problems. Not catastrophic, but the device may still hang a few times. Could it be temperature related?
Bluetooth not working.
Poor Wi-Fi performance.
Can’t install paid apps via Google Play.
Sometimes non-optimal user’s experience:
Need to switch between XBMC and MX Player depending on video files
Multiple input devices required, e.g. if you use an air mouse, you still need to access the IR remote to put the device into Standby.
Bluetooth not available from default settings menu
Only Chinese cities available for weather
H.265 not working smoothly (frames skipped). Probably not fixable (not supported by hardware, and GPGPU not supported by Mali-450)
DTS, Dolby, AC3 not supported by hardware, but software decoded in XBMC (Can’t be fixed, SoC related)
MX III 4 stars. Did not have all apps loaded as i thought. But over-all really superior
PROS
Nice android devicea bit weak on 1080P streaming.
Works great with addition of Rii wifi keyboard and Solo Loader
This is a dream for KODI/XBMC users who have grown tired of using their computer hooked up to their tv for streaming like I was
No complaints here!
Good android tv box
Great but not too polished yet.
CONS
Cheap Network Components Really Hold this Thing Back
my old mk919 (which is obsolete now) delivers more consistent
ditto

Al of these cons you listed for the M8 apply to the MXIII in my experience (I have an MXIII). I have better playback experience using MX Player w/ ARM v7 Neon codecs (HW+ decoding) for 1080p and 10-bit H.264 (yes, I watch anime).
In other words, these boxes seem almost exactly comparable (they may have the exact same hardware).
both of these boxes have since been updated to the Amlogic S812 processor M8S & the MXiii plus
the M8S has also another model now available in the M8S+ with 1 gb lan port and running android 5.1.1.
I have the M8S+ and can say its a great improvement on its predecessor.
worth looking at if your thinking about buying an M8S or MXiii

How to update MXIII to Android 5.1 or Custom ROM
I have Amlogix MXIII 4K TV BOX running Android 4.4.2, it sometimes does not turn on properly and gets stuck at MXBOX logo and keeps loading, I have to take out power and put it back multiple times before it loads to home screen, is there anyway to fix this or update this box to a custom file or android 5.1 for better performance ?
Hello my friends,
I've an mxiii 2g/8g bricked, no hdmi signal, red light only..
I've manage to bring it to this after a half booting by a power line failure, and then only the red light was on...
I was looking to revive it with amlogic usb tool, but only to 2% then give a pll error..even with several img...was not reading from sd card with boot magic...
Any thoughts?
Thanks

The Team DevDigitel universal ROM could quite likely work, since it is for any Amlogic S8xx.
Assuming that you have backups etc, you could try the way I successfully upgraded my S812 box.
If you do, make sure you let us know how it went
