My phone is rooted but now I wanna go back to unroot status. The phone is apparently running stock ROM & I've locked the bootloader but it shows 'RELOCKED' which means my warranty is void. The phone reboots frequently & freezes sometime at the boot screen. Initially I thought its a software issue so rooted my phone & installed ROMs which were available here. The issue still persists & I believe its the same old issue of a faulty motherboard. So to claim the warranty I want the bootloader to show 'LOCKED' not RELOCKED. Can anyone help please OR I'm busted for sure?

Once you unlock the bootloader it can never be Locked again only Relocked.
I killed the mother board on my last phone then sent it back under warranty for a replacement. Got a new motherboard no problem.

No it was still unlocked. If they can't turn the phone on they can't tell

:victory: Got my phone back. They changed the motherboard. :victory:
Lesson Learnt:
Even if your phone is Unlocked (Bootloader is showing 'Unlocked') just ensure that when you give it to any service center u change it to 'Relocked' status. The first thing these people do is they flash your phone with RUU. Once they do it, bootloader status changes to 'Lock' something which we cant do as of now. If you keep the phone in 'Unlocked' status then they won't be able to flash your device & will easily come to know that you have unlocked your bootloader.
I got my device back in 2 weeks. Its kinda they know that many Desire V are having problems with motherboard so they don't take much of a hassle of trying different things out to make your device work. They simple replace the motherboard.
There is somewhere a all-in-one toolkit.
Opera mini browser problem
I am new to this forum so don't know if I am paying this in the right place. I have faced a problem with using Opera mini on this phone. When I come back to opera from the multi tasking key, it force closes. How can I solve this issue. Have you guys faced this problem? Is it a ROM problem or a hardware problem? I am from India and my phone is on the factory provided firmware. Nothing like rooting done yet.

i have been using my OneX+ for a few months now and i honestly hate it. selling my GNexus was the biggest mistake i've made. everything, apart from the internal storage is worse on this phone and i literally have had enough of it. I want to sell it and get either a Nexus 4 or GSIII.
I have been looking around for tutorials etc, but havent really found anything solid and related to this phone. im sure it's an easy thing to do, so if anyone out there knows how to do it, can you please spend a few moments and explain it to me, i will be very greatfull!

I guess if u are trying to get rid of your one X+ u want to make it in somewhat original condition.
Then u need to relock your boatloader and then run the RUU to get you back to stock.
No one will know its been rooted except the boatloader will show relocked instaed of locked.
So search for RUU and relockong boatloader on the forums for the step by step.

well i know how to relock the bootloader, it's quite simple, but problem is, i ran the RUU exe and it failed to revert my phone to stock rom etc. although i didnt relock the bootloader before doing it, would that be why it failed?

Yeap, u must FIRST relock than run RUU.
Check sticked threads in general question (U will have full tutorial how to back to stock) - however in bootloader there will be RELOCKED status not LOCKED, so it will be clear visible that u`ve previously unlocked Your device - may cause problem with warranty)

thanks. im not worried about the warranty thing. i will sell it on ebay without it... and i believe HTC will still honor your warranty if the problem is not software related.
As far as I know u cannot return to LOCKED status after unlocking.

If the device says relocked and i need to send it in for a warranty will it be an issue
The Camera on my HOX+ is terrible, tried the MOD but doesn't help
HTC say i must send it in but don't want in case there's issues

Only reason i thought there was an issue was i've compared photos to an stock standard HTC one x and they much better than my plus when viewed on a pc screen or HDTV
When viewed at actually size the photos are terrible, even video recording stutters a bit, video isn't smooth
Sorry wrong thread to go on about the photo and video quality
But just wanted to know if i factory reset and make stock standard and return bootloader to relocked if HTC will still honor the warranty

My understanding is that unlock bootloader = void warranty. It wouldn't matter what you did after that. What a stupid policy - I just got my phone and now I'm afraid to root it. I desperately want to apply the BT call quality fix!

Hello everyone!
So recently, I have been encountering some white spots on my Evo 3D (Virgin Mobile) and then touch hasn't been responsive at times. I wanted to take it back for a replacement (I have a warranty), but my phone USED to be rooted, and unlocked.
I knew that this voided my warranty, so I decided to unroot and lock.
First, I used the JuopantuBear wire trick to achieve S-OFF, which I did.
Second, I re-locked my bootloader completely (It currently says **LOCKED**)
And last, I flashed my RUU and it was successful.
So, my question to all of you guys is:
Will I be able to use my warranty now?
Specifics:

Should be no problem.
My understanding is that Virgin Mobile is very lenient about their warranty exchange policy, probably because unlike Sprint's contract service they don't make money if your phone is not working. But your configuration looks totally stock and there is nothing to question.

I've seen other people posting about this but each issue is slightly different.
I have not so far rooted or used a custom ROM on my HTC One X+. Been using 4.1.1 stock since I bought it.
When I updated the phone restarted itself after the update and now it doesn't get past the HTC logo on boot.
I have tried reboot and power down's from the "dev" menu. No success. I even tried my last resort, a factory reset, from the dev menu. The loading bar comes up with the green circle but the bar doesn't progress and then the phone restarts itself back to the htc logo and remains stuck there.
I've contacted HTC but I expect their response to be slow.
I've seen mention of flashing ROMS to fix this sort of issue. I could perhaps flash back to 4.1.1 ?
I have only used a custom rom before on htc desire z , where I used cyanogenmod. I enjoyed it but I didn't need most of its utility. Would prefer to stick with stock on my One X+.
What are the possible solutions or things I can start doing to try and fix this?

Well first off, if you expect it's a faulty phone or you still have the warranty available since it's not your fault, I would suggest going to the customer service of HTC near you and give in your phone for diagnosis.
I wouldn't suggest rooting now since if you do it your warranty will be removed so the first option won't be available.
Just incase try to boot to the bootloader (hold down the power button alongside the volume down rocker), can you access the bootloader?
If so, post the text that is written.
If you need to downgrade you need the RUU for your CID so also post your CID so we can help further.

It's a second hand phone but person I bought it from purchased it recently before I did off him so I'm hoping there is still a manufacturers warranty.
UK HTC support is renowned to be terrible and they've already taken two days to reply other than the stock message. When it is their update that has done this to the phone.
If my warranty has expired can I take this to small claims court since its a £250-300 phone that has been "broken" by their update.

Since your phone seems to have a O2 CID (i'd guess O2___001), there is no easy way to reset your phone. AFAIK there's no RUU for O2 devices, that fit your HBOOT version... Also i don't know exactly what went wrong with your update.
So i recommend you to unlock your bootloader and install a stock like custom rom (just choose one in One X+ Android Development forum), most of them are already based on latest Sense 5 update.
otherwise you will have to send it in for repair or search for a stock TWRP backup and boot.img for your phone.

Knowing that if you try and fail to flash a custom rom after unlocking the bootloader, your warranty is voided and you can kiss your dream of "not paying" good buy.
I do not know how it's like in the UK, but here in Egypt there are tech shops almost everywhere and I know some shops around my house(not HTC) that I go to incase something happens to my phone. Ofcourse I pay money but they usually are able to fix my phone.
Edit: The reason I am against unlocking the bootloader, flashing..etc is that you should do it because you "WANT" to , not because HTC MADE you do it. Its a customization EXTRA option if you do not like stock and want a custom rom. not a MUST to flash any other ROM to get your phone to run. But ofcourse Its totally upto you

It is against EU policy to refuse warrenty fixes when unlocking the bootloader, there is thus no problem with him trying, and to be real.. how would one manage to fail flashing a custom rom..?

I meant if it's that small possibility that the motherboard failed and not the ROMs issue. I am not really aware of the EU policy as I live in Egypt, so according to your own policy you should take actions as necessary.
However flashing a ROM "should" fix it. So if you prefer a quick fix till you find an RUU please go ahead I was stating information according to my knowledge. Sorry if I have gaps as I am not really an expert

Yes, it can be done fully using the computer. Search for unlocking the bootloader guide. Better done on YouTube. Best of luck mate

Thanks for the advice.
I am not on contract with O2 , I have a pay-as-you-go sim with giffgaff. So either the previous owner got the phone from O2 or its because giffgaff use O2 satellite service. I don't know much about these things, so don't know what would decide the O2 logo being on boot.

I understand so far i gotta unroot, flash stock rom and re lock bootloader. I read something about RUU files. Any one have suggestion or help how i go about this? Again, i have AT&T varient, currently on Revolution HD Rom

There is currently no RUU available as of right now. I think the best you can do for now is to a TWRP restore. There is a stock rooted TWRP in the Android Dev forum. Although this won't un-root you, its closest to stock that you will get. For the future, always make a backup before you root and then you won't have to worry

I just ordered my device and still waiting on it to be delivered. I'm already debating on whether or not to root as I've never owned an android phone that i didn't root. From what i understand, the bootloader needs to be unlocked, then s-off, flash recovery and then root. Now, if i'm to do a nandroid of the stock ROM before I root, will I be able to lock the bootloader again, nandroid and s-on in case I need to utilize the warranty? Also, will any warranty bits show up or a tampered flag or any other problem arise that'll indicate it's been farked with? Is there a way to undo those flags? Thanks in advance to TheEmpyre or whomever else can shed some light on this.
EDIT: If the s-off is the only step that will trip the flag, is it possible to leave S, er, ON?

Unlocking the bootloader trips a flag. When you relock it gets rid of one flag but trips the relocked flag. Soff can get rid of all flags but you have to leave it soff. Turning it back on throws a security flag.

If you are current AT&T customer, and can go through them for warranty, they do not care in the least whether you are bootloader unlocked, rooted, s-off, etc.
I know AT&T written policy says otherwise (they have the right refuse warranty on modded phones) but in reality they cherish you paying that nice monthly bill every month over the modest cost of a refurb phone.
I've come over from the One X (EVITA) forum, and there were many (possibly dozens) of report from XDA users successfully returning their devices for warranty with bootloader RELOCKED, UNLOCKED, and in some cases even with custom ROMs installed! And I haven't seen any reports otherwise (AT&T denying warranty due to modded phone).
If you are not a current AT&T customer, and have to go through HTC, that is a different story.
But if you are an AT&T customer, my personal opinion is that you do not need to care about being able to return to stock, tripping flags, etc. Just mod away.

I can second this. I just had to replace my m8 because the speakers were crackling like crazy, my bootloader showed relocked and they told me straight up that they didn't care about that as long as it was a hardware problem and not a software problem and replaced it on the spot.
I was under the impression that if you were in your first year of owning the device that faulty hardware would be covered under HTC's factory warranty and not AT&T?

Looking at the return info, I can see where the confusion might come from. It says "Return directly to manufacturer" for 15 days or more:

But AFAIK, all warranty returns go to AT&T when you work through their warranty department. You send them your defective phone, and they send you a refurb. I haven't had to go through this process myself, but this is what has been reported many times on XDA and other forums.
Any update on this how to lock bootloader for HTC M8 AT&T with 4.4.3 InsertCoin 4.1.1 Rom S-On of course.

No "update" on this issue is required. The process has been the same for a couple years or more. Further, you've posted the same/similar question to multiple places, and its been answered already in multiple places.
Connect phone to computer in fastboot mode.
Open command prompt, and type: fastboot OEM lock
From there, you can run the RUU.

You tried to relock the bootloader didn't you? Usually not a good idea. Is it not booting anymore? If it boots go in developer options and tick the allow OEM unlocking back to on. And then see if unlocking the bootloader changes it.

yea.. smh... i actually got it out of that bootloop but i can't unlock bootloader. ill let it be. its running lineageos... i tried these steps and it actually worked if anybody has this issue...
