Just thought I should share my thoughts regarding my latest warranty exchange....my WiFi was having issues on stock Rom unrooted so I called Verizon and see what they could offer.
Battery pull and network refresh(really? I didn't know WiFi was part of the Verizon network but OK)
Factory reset(I though alright atleast were in the right area....)
Finally she proceeded to order me a replacement while telling me that Verizon doesn't tolerate abuse of the network or altering of devices, I asked why do you believe its altered and where is this abuse of your network? she replies, you use an extreme amount of data that is not likely to be consumed soley on the phone.
I couldn't stop laughing, I HONESTLY asked her if she got that from an episode of CSI? I then told her my unlimited plan doesn't include a clause for intruding questions about assumptions on how I use my phone. She quickly backed off and gave me a tracking number for the shipping.
I just was truly caught off guard after the years of having my plan and NEVER being questioned like this LOL....just my interaction and wanted to pass it along
Out of curiosity how much data was it? If you'd happen to know ?

That's what I'm saying.
When I called Verizon the week of the DNA launch, I asked the local store if they would have any devices in on that day. The rep asked me if I was upgrading my line and if I was he tried to sell me the SG3. I told him I was not upgrading, I didn't want that pos, and am planning to buy the DNA at retail price. His statement I clearly remember "Why on earth would you pay $600 for THAT phone when clearly you are eligible and able to get a better phone for $99" ... I said nicely that I would like to keep my unlimited data plan. Then he asked me, how much data do I use on a monthly basis ... I replied, usually 30-40GB+ depending. He said "depending?!! that much data should not be allowed, how can one person abuse Verizon..." I just interrupted him loudly saying ...I have UNLIMITED, UNLIMITED means there is no LIMIT! and hung up.
Since then, I blow my data out the water. Hit over 100GB last month myself and plan to do it continually

I just think it's funny that people try to say the unlimited plans were taken away "because of people like you". The reality is that Verizon got rid of unlimited plans because they want to make more money. It has very little to do with the few people here and there who "abuse" their unlimited data.
I personally have unlimited and use as little as 2GB or as much as 10GB on any given month...

Netflix, Downloading ROMs, DropBox (Auto-Upload:I take a lot of pictures and videos) YouTube, Google Music (have no problem streaming 2GB a day worth of music)
So I'm not really "abusing" I'm just taking advantage of my unlimited data, especially since the DNA only has a set amount of storage.
Now me downloading the Windows 7/SP1 ISO files from Microsoft every day would be "abusing" yet still legit
and it is all about Verizon wanting more money... They charging you for data usage and selling you phones without sdcards, forcing you to use their data to use your cloud storage
I think Verizon is "abusing" us!

I agree, Work got me on trips all the time. When at hotels, WiFi costs extra. My phone is the alternative... That uses majority me data there.
I went the route of adding an extra line to get my DNA, came out cheaper that retail!
$199 - for phone with contract
$240 - $10/month for the extra line (2yrs)
$30 - they activate data on the line, switch your two phones then cut the data off the secondary line
I got my DNA for a little over $480 with a pack of 5 free screen protectors lol
My experience with Verizon's customer service has been horrible. If Sprint had the coverage of Verizon, I would still be with them. They finally made things right with me when I was able to do an early upgrade to get my Droid DNA. I was ready to jump back to Sprint lol

Well this month it was roughly 132gb as I recall, I've gotten as high as 200gb before. Bottom line is I pay for unlimited and have had this plan going on six years so lets see 12x6=72x30=2160. That's 2,160 reasons why I don't need to explain myself about how or why I use my phone

I hope you all know eventually they are going to remove the unlimited data plan from everyone. Even when I had unlimited my 3g speeds were so slow on my old phone I never used it, I never even hit 1gb and I still haven't. The most I have ever used was 500mb. But I guess you guys can do as you please since you have unlimited. They can't stop you until they take it away...

Sad thing is I watched a sales rep convice a friend to switch and she got an iPad thinking there's no way I can use all that data they are offering.....sadly she called me the next day saying Verizon ****ed me now......now she's right around same price monthly and is limited

^ interesting. I'm new to Verizon and the phone so I have a limited plan but a co worker of mine long time Verizon person has the unlimited plan he says they tried with him also to change the plan he refused. That's some pretty high usuage you use hehe. I can def see how it can be pretty high I don't use my carrier internet to much but just from streaming music and uploading pictures alone gets me a lot of usage.

I was wondering the same thing. I'm about to get my Droid RAZR replaced to a DNA through warranty and the rep told me I had to pay for the battery and battery cover... I was under the impression that the battery was non-removable. I even have another thread asking this very question and the answer I got was that it was not removable.

Would you be kind enough to explain to someone (a noob) who isn't knowledgeable enough as to understand how a user could use 200 gb a month?
Could someone use 2000gb......8000gb....or a lot more then that a month?
Please tell me how that would be possible even given exaggerated use. I am new to this, and really don't know.
Thanks,
Dan

Ok people I've been on sprint since the OG EVO and I'm tired. It seems like the only way to go is GSM and I refuse to support crap GayT&T. On sprint, I have the HTC one (bought launch day), unlimited unthrottled data etc all at the cost of about $85-$89. With the new uncarrier and JUMP T-Mobile plans.... How much will this work out for me.
I will of course get the HTC one again, s-off it etc. I know it'll cost money down, but how will my bill be if I want UNLIMITED UNTHROTTLED DATA AMD THE JUMP PLAN? Could some of you smarter guys elaborate on this best you can please? Very much appreciated

Device (due upfront):
Down payment=$99.99 (sometimes less)
Tax on the full price of the phone=about $47.00
TOTAL=about $146.99
Services (due monthly):
Unlimited talk+text=$50.00
Unlimited data=$20.00
Monthly EIP (handset payment)=$20.00
JUMP=$10.00
TOTAL=$100.00+taxes & fees
*note
The unlimited data plan does NOT include wireless tethering so if that's a service you want/use, T-Mobile does charge extra for it.

For questions it's best to post in the Q&A section of this forum, or indeed the best place to go for answers to questions such as these is your local T-Mobile store or to call T-Mobile at 1-800-T-MOBILE . Their associates are friendly and more than knowledge enough to help you with all these types of questions.

Only if you do the JUMP program. If you want to wait two years to upgrade your device (just like you do on Sprint), it would be the same price per month. If Sprint's network is anything like it is here in Las Vegas out where you live, then T-Mobile is at minimum 3x faster. Also at any time you can pay the remaining balance of your EIP and your payment per month would go down to further $20.
Examples:
No JUMP w/ EIP=$90p/m
No EIP w/ JUMP=$80p/m
No EIP+No JUMP=$70p/m
etc...
Also keep in mind that if you pay off your existing EIP you can start a new one, plus then you get to keep the old phone. JUMP is essentially nothing more than leasing a phone, similar to how one leases a car. You're basically paying an exaggerated rental charge for your current device because with the JUMP program you need to turn in your old device upon getting a new one. In reality the true benefit of JUMP is the included premium handset insurance.

Yes some are bone heads but some aren't. Here's my recent experience.
I have 4 phones on my account with a 10 gig shared data plan. My daughter wanted to move from Sprint to Verizon so my wife and I went to a Verizon store to help her through the transaction. One of the first things I do when I talk to one of the CS reps is state my position and what I want from this conversation with him/her. I like to see what they know or don't know. My rep, John, saw that I wasn't an average clueless customer and he immediately shifted into a smarter mode. Kudos for that.
So, my daughter decides on a Moto X. He runs the numbers and quickly figures out that it's much cheaper for her to join our family plan. No problem, we'll do that. She now pays us monthly for 1/5 of the total bill.
Then he pulls this one: "I'd like for you to look at the Edge plan for that Moto X." Ok, I'm not dumb, I've read all about the Edge plan. Yes it's no contract and yes you can switch to a new phone after a year but you pay for the phone as you go. I've looked at the numbers and it never makes sense to get Edge unless you just can't wait to upgrade phones. But boy do you pay for it.
Right now my opinion of John is changing. He's trying to pull a fast one. So I object saying, "I'm not interested in Edge." He comes back with, "What if I can prove it saves you money?" "OK, wise guy," I'm thinking, "do you take me for an idiot? Show me how smart you are, bonehead." Instead, I say, "Really? How?"
And he shows me. The way the Edge program works is that the monthly cost of the phone on an Edge plan is retail cost divided into 20 months. In the case of the Moto X it's $400 retail or $20 per month. Turns out if you have a 10 gig, or higher, data plan they discount the Edge program by $25 for EACH phone on the Edge plan. So, in her case the $20 plan minus the $25 discount reduced the plan by $5 compared to a 2 year subsidized contract. "So," I thought, "this guy really knew what he was doing."
Other advantages to Edge: The phone can be upgraded after 60% of the retail price is paid off. That's 12 months. If you want to trade it in sooner than 12 months then pay the difference to get up to 60%. This is a trade-in, you don't keep the phone. However, if you do keep the phone for 20 months it's yours to keep, no trade in necessary.
The break even point is phone that retails for $500. At that point the monthly payment is $25 and the discount is $25.
An HTC One and LG G2 are break even on Edge. A Note 3, S5 and LG G3 are only $5 more on Edge. All in all, it turns out, Edge is a pretty good deal if you have the 10 Gig plan.
In the end, my daughter was happy, I'm happy and it was a great experience. So, not all CS reps are idiots.

Yeah. Because of how much data I use, they told me they would give me all the deals of a more everything plan plus 20% off my whole bill. Then I said I already have 20% off through a worker who worked there years ago. They said it would add on top of that. So 40% off plus what ever more eveything. But given how much data I use, wouldn't do anything for me.
You lost me at "some aren't"
Nice experience. Not sure why you keep calling him a bone head in your mind. If you knew about the edge and the savings you get (-$25 for 10gb), then the sale would be as easy as in and out. But then again looks like you didn't know of that last part about the savings. Anyways congrats on your new phone purchase.

First of all, if you read your contract you'll see that they have the right to change the contract at any time. In essence, legally, they can boot you off of unlimited data anytime they want. There's nothing you can do about it, you signed the contract. Right now they won't do that because there are too many unlimited plan customers, including my phone, that it would get bad press.
Another loophole changes in August were people would have someone on their family plan buy a new phone and they switched the SIM card to be able to upgrade their phone without paying full price. That goes away on August 24th.
Right now the only way left to keep unlimited data is to buy a full phone at full price, not a discounted price. However, I expect to see that change in the future. I believe that within the next 12 months Verizon will change their policy with regard to unlimited. They won't kill it but you will lose it if your phone's MEID changes. In effect, the only way to keep unlimited data is to never change to a different phone. Lose your phone, break your phone, or upgrade to a new phone and your unlimited data plan will go away. Verizon has stated LOUD AND CLEAR that they don't like unlimited data plans and that they will eventually end.

If you aren't under contract then they can do anything. They could end your unlimited data tomorrow and you'd have absolutely no recourse.
Edit: You are always under contract, the one you signed when you first joined Verizon. The phone may be paid off but the contact always exists as long as you use their network. You are just under the month-to-month portion of the contract.

No you are not under a contract when month to month. There are no binding terms keeping me locked to any set rules or conditions. However, there is the TOS I agreed to back when I first joined. Aside from that I have been a VZW customer for 15yrs and they have never ended or terminated any service I have had with them. They may discontinue a older plan, but they have never forced me off of any plan I was on. I have no reason to believe they would start doing such things. Just because they did away with the loop hole(add a line/transfer device/put dumb phone on added line) to keep unlimited does not mean they are going to start forcing people off thier unlimited plans. Even if they did, I would simply jump on a shared plan...it is what it is.
Boy did I luck out. Just read this about august 24th. I got a note 3 yesterday! Still unlimited.... and my upgrade I'd in November, seems like people better get their phones now! So what if you buy a used phone and swap sims?? Post Aug 24th...

That's not true, the only loop hole they are closing is that if you add a new line to get a smartphone you have to keep the data plan on that phone. You can still use an upgrade on another smartphone line then transfer the SIM, or if you have an upgrade on your unlimited, transfer it to another smartphone do the upgrade then swap the SIM cards(this is what I just did a couple of months ago). So basically I have an unlimited line and my wife has a tiered plan, we both get to use our upgrades, we just have to do the transfer gimmick.

I worked for Verizon, and have recently left to pursue other opportunities. I posed this very same thought to my account manager. She said that the most likely scenario is that there will be a point when they will absolutely remove unlimited data. They can say we are sorry but that phone cannot be put on a line with unlimited data. You have to also scour the terms and conditions. The company does reserve the right to terminate any plans and change existing plans. This is whether or not you are in contract. I am pretty sure they have a legal team that has already discussed this. I always see threats by people saying they will leave and go to this company or that company; but let's face it, choices for phone companies are very limited. You go to T-Mobile and you have limited areas, same with Sprint. The two companies that are in control are Verizon and AT&T. They have effectively formed a duopoly. It is not by accident that they have nearly the same exact plans. All I am saying is enjoy the data while you have it.

All I am saying is enjoy the data while you have it.

the problem with putting any stock in what your account manager says is the simple fact that one could speak to 10 different account managers and get 10 different answers.
Amen to that, verizon employees must not have group trainings as they All seem to have a different answer for you.

Most people do not realize the 25 dollar credit per edge line per month on the bill.

Please ready the fowling message, which AT&T has not made public.
For a short period we are being offered a nice boost for data plans, but you need request it. Double your data for free. I did this today without issue.
I was actually on the 10gb plan mentioned in the article. I bumped my plan to 15gb for $30 more (total $130/month) but in doing so, my data jumped to 30gb. It turns out to be roughly $4.5/gb(w/ tax).
The crazy thing is, a 1gb plan cost $25 +tax...
It's a good deal folks and the ability to double will only last until the end of October.
So I can get them to double my unlimited data? Coolio...

TS: Does AT&T still offer an unlimited data plan?
TS: Oh, btw Hello
Hillary: Good afternoon TS! As a Wireless Specialist, I will be more than happy to answer your questions about our data plans! AT&T doesn't currently offer unlimited data; however our Mobile Share Plans offer unlimited text and talk as well as a range of data options from 300MB to 50GB

What's your point? Everyone knows AT&T no longer offers unlimited data plans. I've had mine for years and was grandfathered in to keep it when they eliminated them.

Just didn't want newer folks asking about an unlimited plan.
I too had the plan you mentioned, until I upgraded one of the lines on my service and was offered "a better rate":laugh:
Right.. not so much

Probably the only reason I'm still an AT&T customer (along with the fact that I hate Sprint and Verizon)
Sadly, it's only on the 15 GB and up plan, so for those of us on the 10 GB plan, or lower plans, no love They can double all the data on their prepaid arm though, Cricket, not for us though.
thinking of waiting to buy the g4 but if the price is too high, then im not looking to wait like a month and a half hopeing the price drops.
does anybody know how much the lg g3 was when it first came out? specificly on verizon?
Figured it out.
It was 99$ for 2 year contract with verizon.
It was 199$ for 2 year contract with atnt, sprint, and T-Mobile.
Thanks me!

Full retail was $599 on Verizon. $99 doesn't sound right, are you sure that was when it was initially announced? High end phones are almost always $199 to start.

If you're with Verizon (which I assume since you are posting in here), tell them you want the 6gb Max Plan. It's $30 a month, giving you 6gb a month. It's for all users who upgrade and have to lose their unlimited data plan. That's what I did. I didn't know about it until the sales person I spoke with on the phone gave me that information. I stated I hated losing my unlimited plan and they said that there was a 6gb MAX Plan for people like me. It was still in effect and all you had to do was ask. Since I wasn't going to the share everything plan, it fit for me just fine.
Now, in my case, I ordered my g3 online ($39) but had it set for store pick up. The store couldn't do my 6gb plan, but all I had to do was once I got my phone, I just had to call back up on the phone and talk to a customer support person and they switched me right up. Took about 5 minutes and that was it. Very simple and I've been happy with it ever since. The G3 was worth it.
I don't go over the 6gb at all. I've come close, but I really haven't had to curb what I do online other than I don't constantly stream movies anymore unless I'm on wifi. Hasn't been much of an adjustment and I'm happy with what I've got.
So, that might be an option for you depending on how much data you use a month. If you never get near 6 gb at all (or only on a rare occasion), that might be the option for you.

I'm on a 450 minute, unlimited text, and unlimited data plan. I got in on a promo they were running which was $69.99/mo, but add in my employee discount and I only pay $64/mo after tax. I believe I lose this if I change plans. Even if I didn't, going from unlimited to 6GB is an awful plan, unless my bill was half the cost. I'd rather go with unlimited voice/text, and 20GB of data and use Cricket for $55/mo.
I got in on the upgrade glitch a year or so ago, so I am actually under contract until this October.

For me, I'm on an old plan that is unlimited text, 700 minute plan. It's old and out-dated as well, but I'm grandfathered in and had it before I even got a data plan. When I eventually did get a data plan, they still had unlimited data at $29.99/month.
For me, yeah not having unlimited down to 6gb seemed bad, but I rarely ever used 5 gb per month anyways, so it really wasn't a loss and I still have my same wireless plan. I'm still 700 minutes a month, unlimited text, but now 6gb/month data plan. Otherwise, I would have had to purchase the phone outright and I wasn't about to do that and my previous phone was on the fritz, so I had to have a new phone or I was out of a cell phone.
So for me, it was a no-brainer and still allowed em to not have to worry about going over my data limit. It was that or get 2gb/month for $30. $30 for 6gb seemed the better deal!
I still get my employee discount, but not on the data plan anymore (like I did with the unlimited), so yeah, my monthly bill went up about $4, but in the end, it was still fine by me.
It all depends on each person's perspective. Losing the unlimited was a bummer, but for me, the 6gb/month was just fine and I got a really good phone out of it for $30. So, I'm not complaining, but it all depends on each person's perspective. I was just throwing the 6gb MAX plan out there as not everyone knows about it. I didn't until they told me. Just wanted to give people some "potential" options for those sitting on the fence on whether or not to give up their unlimited data plan. My main factor was, no way in heck was I going to a 2gb/month plan but I was about to anyways as I had no choice in the matter. My wife wouldn't allow me to purchase a phone outright, even though in the end, it would end up being cheaper in the long run, but when she sees that $300+ upfront-cost for a phone, nope! Tried to explain to her, but she saw the $30 price tag on the upgrade so that's all she wrote on that! LOL!
But, once I found out about the 6gb/plan, that pushed me over the fence to go ahead and upgrade my phone to the LG G3. Not unhappy in the least.
I would say I believe the most I ever used in a month was 13gb. I think it's because I let my daughter watch some movies on my phone during a vacation trip. But that was it. Most of the time, it was less then 5 gb/month, if that. I'd say on average I used < 2gb/month.
So, going to 6gb/month wasn't any sort of loss in my mind. Still feel that way.

If that worked for you that's great, but with your loss of discount you are paying more for 6GB vs unlimited. When you factor in the cost of a phone which is ~$20-$25/mo., paying $15 more per month for unlimited data vs 6GB is a steal. Especially with how content heavy everything is now, higher quality streaming, 4K video, etc., your usage is only going to go up.

Since having it in December, I've been fine with the normal usage that I've always done. Never hit more than 3 gb/month, so for me, it works.
For me, this was a decision I'm fine with, but I'm sure others will have different opinions on it, which is fine. Again, like I said, it all depends on the perspective of each person. In my case, I had no choice. I had to upgrade because my other phone died and I need a cell phone for my family to contact me at any time, plus other personal reasons (not gaming - LOL).
So, to me, 6gb/month at $30 is the same as the $30/month I was paying for unlimited (well, $29/month), but in the end, it all worked out for me.
