The "Trying to install Venom" hangout thread~! - HTC Droid DNA

Hey guys, I'm on hour 2... or is it 3? I don't know. I'm watching Stargate Atlantis back to back on amazon while re-installing venom (after setting DPI to low on a sense install). This isn't my first time around the block with aroma fails while installing venom, i know it will work.. eventually.
Figured I'd chat it up with others in the same boat, or just create a place to talk about it, either way, welcome! Season 4 episode 2 if you were wondering (just finished up all 10 seasons of sg1 last month, best-show-ever)
Ive tried keeping the phone flat, holding it up, doing a full wipe, non wipe, sense, non sense. I even tried standing on 1 foot with the phone on top of my head, while I spun around in circles changing "A-RO-MA,. A-RO-MA..." (I heard that worked by the way). Unfortunately, still nothing. However, I AM confident that this NEXT one will be the one that works, okay.. maybe the next next one

Have you tried using the volume up and down buttons and the power button to navigate in aroma? I haven't had a single problem as long as you go slow. :good:

I actually haven't tried that. lemme give it a shot but will that help it not fail during the installation? It gets anywhere from 8% to 81% . It just seems to hang, randomly, during the extraction/installation process. its only failed 3 or 4 times on the button presses.

Another tip is to hold the phone upright...my friend has the DNA and it took about 4 times to install 1.1... Just go slowly and go very with the touches if you're going to use the touch screen

I was lucky and twice had to install viper and had zero problems.

Weird for you guys. Both my installs were flawless the first go around

Try a different recovery. I'm using twrp 2.3.something and have never had an issue.

I ended up getting it to install. finally.. I think the "hold it upright" and "go slow" are just placebos. i held the thing upright, went really slow, put it flat on a table, went slow, nothing. Went fast.. nothing..
I'm not sure what the going slow thing has to do with it, or why people think it has some magical powers. The install is not getting stuck during the menu selection. It gets stuck during the extraction of files. Essentially, its entirely random. There might be some merit to the "hold it upright" as someone mentioned it could be an accelerometer, but I found this to be inconsistent as well.
When it finally did install. I had done nothing different than the last 5 or 6 attempts. The phone lays flat on my desk, I push through the install options, then when it starts to install I just leave it there and go back to watching my show. Then.. it just worked, like I said, did nothing different.
As an engineer, my "spidey" sense tells me its a clocking issue (not the processor clock speed). Often when getting hardware to communicate properly during a prototyping phase of development, we (as in I) can run into issues with clock causing internment problems that are difficult to track down. Sometimes the leading edge of the voltage high is dirty (not sharp) and can result in a missed bit. The problem I'm seeing with aroma leads me to think that somewhere, somehow, the installation is losing sync with something.
Without knowing more about how aroma works, there really isn't a way for me to trouble shoot the problem. I'm not a software guy either.
So.. here's some interesting info. I work with a ton of smart guys. A lot of them have android phones, run linux on their machines, program crazy things or whatever. But I am the only one I know of in my research group, or most of the people on campus that roots and roms his phones. Almost every time I mention it to a colleague, they have no clue what a "rom" even is, and they think rooting a phone is "jail-breaking". Anyway, i've always thought that was weird. I figured nerds were nerds, guess not

Same here. Nobody I know knows about roms except for my girlfriend who has a jailbroken iPad and my roommate who has a rooted GS3.
Anyway, I SWEAR going slow helps. It doesn't always keep it from freezing but it definitely helps. I really don't think it's placebo. I usually wait about 3 seconds between presses no matter what. Also are you telling Aroma to do a full wipe? I'm not sure if it matters but I always do that manually and tell Aroma no since I don't think that does anything on TWRP anyway.
Did you get it working?

just bought a used HD2 have few issues/questions

1. the phone gets really hot on the bottom back pannel is that normal?(not hot to the point where i cant touch it but pretty damn warm)
searched for overheating etc only found the youtube vid.
2. 2 days i had it at work the battery dies after only few hours of sitting
i let it sit and once in a while push the button to check messages and let it turn the screen off. yesterday after about 5 hours the battery was almost dead. today after only 3-4 hours the battery was dead again. WTF???
3 i had the TP2 when it came out for about 3 weeks, spent lots of time tweaking not much time actually using the phone since it was always bugging out. now got the HD2 and feel like im back to same ol tweaking session ahead of me, trying different roms and radios and all to be able to use the device without so many issues. can someone help me out with the correct(latest/most stable/most usefull) rom.
and what about android, from what i understand it is at a stage where it can be used for daily phone routines without crashing right? or not yet?
all i want is the features to work without freezing. and lil more settings.
is there a rom that is simpler than sense interface, with less animated graphics? something similar to blackberry interface so i can get used to this phone?
ive been using blackberry for last 2 years and kinda used to the menus. great stable OS but screen is to small to read documents and browse.
thats why i keep trying to switch to HTC but cant figure out the winmo.i keep crashing it even with stock TMO rom and no apps installed.
to be honest theres waaay to much information for this to make sense.
i mean last time i spent all 3-4 weeks reading and downloading and tweaking and reloading roms, and thats i only scratched the surface.
so many people are releasing roms (which is great) but its uber confusing as to which is which.
i understand some people may argue that its a PDA with phone features.
but thats an argument similar to glass half full/half empty.
its a phone/pda. not either. or simply smartphone. and i belive it should act like one.
but with the OS it came with it cant.
theres also few people defending its greatness by saying "so many possibilities for tweaking" i definitely agree with that BUT, tweaking is not the purpose of a smartphone, its something you do when you re bored, not something you HAVE to do to make the phone operate at its full capacity due to many faults that are not worked out from the provider... that is not what people pay 500 dollars for.
i really hate to bring it to another post but this is so damn frustrating.
its like having a fast car sitting in your garage that has a governor set at 40MPH sure you can drive it but what good is it if it only gives 30% of its full potential.
Sounds like you should have done your research before you bought the phone.
sounds like you only got one answer for everything...
instead of actually helping.

Help? With what? Maybe you could put your questions down in a coherent form and ask them instead of rambling on with your complaints. What exactly do you need help with?
maybe if you could read at all you would see the questions are numbered
please dont waste space by typing dumb replies if you cant answer or help.
wow this is one POS operating system.
the phone froze up and turned off and i missed my father's phone call.
turned it back on and for the last 10 minutes been trying to make a phone call and it doesnt do ****.
what a great fkn phone
what if it was an emergency damn this **** you can all talk **** about blackberry all you want but when i need to make a call it makes a damn call!!!!!
unlike windows mobile phone where you have to build a fkn rocket before it does something for you.
my second attempt at using winmo and its garbage.

You didn't find a ROM that was stable? I'm pretty surprised. I'm not trying to bash you like that other guy, but I'm trying to help. If you really did flash different ROM's, chances are ONE of them had to be good.. The battery is dead, it's not normal for that, mine lasts a full day with use, maybe the guy you bought it from ****ed it? idk. Yeah, it does take a bit of tweaking, but seriously, if you flashed like 3 different ROM's, they can't all have been bad..

yeah winmo is garb. but dude just do a little reserch on how to put linux on your phone so you can run android. ive done it and there is very few problems its basically an evo lol. OORRRR just use HSPL(1,2, or 3) then put a custom winmo rom those dont lagg or anything, personally i hate the custom roms they have for winmo cuz there ugly
so is the android development at a stage where it can be used for daily ops with no major issues?
i was actually thinking of finding a clean T-mo US rom that has been stripped off all the extra software that came with it so when i update opera for example i dont have to keep the old one installed.
unless theres a way to remove all that stuff manually without installing cooked rom?
i finally managed to get rid of that annoying bloated home screen.
i really not a big fan of this fancy clock flipping thru and eating away at my cpu cycles lol.
or a windshield wiper on my screen.
installed the CHT editor.
somewhat more manageable.
now i have a problem when calling.
i call my voicemail or any other phone call. the buttons on the screen dont work
the end call button doesn work and keypad button doesnt work
so when i try to press 7 to delete message theres no keypad...
I hope this is not spam or something , but you shold use a Miri rom , i use v17 and is working grate , also you will can boot andorid from your sd car, and watch out for radio , to be a t mobile compatible , for my it does the job
send it back to htc
if it's the international hd2, then it has a transferrable 2yr warranty so will almost certainly still be under guarantee. i bought an ebay phone (without receipt etc.) with a screen problem, sent it back to htc and they replaced the screen and sent it back in just over a week. ring them up and check the warranty status. needless to say, make sure to flash it back to stock before doing so. good luck!
its a used phone.
but the screen is fine it works on everything else and im happy to say that i didnt nottice any of the screen issues posted here i tested the corner and i tested the drawing and my lines are perfectly straight ( as good as the can be on a touch screen)
but the only screen that doesnt work is the most important lol the phone screen is frozen
The HTC HD2 gets VERY hot sometimes. Especially if you are browsing the web with high brightness. Or, if plugged in the USB to computer (charging) and play around with it.
i dont know if i get lucky with these phones or what.
i have not had so many issues with any of my other phones in fact all my other phones besides winmo were great phones
i figured everything out quickly applied all the tweaks and settings everything worked out great for the most part.
this phone is not it.
i just spent last 2 hours doing the following.
soft reset
wait for bootup(about 10-15 min evrey time)
run memory clean
check task manager(no apps running)
wait till i get to home screen
phone goes to sleep and gets stuck on slider when unlocking.
and when performing any kind of task the phone is turtle slow...
i really am loosing patience with this ****.
it really makes me want to kick bill gates in the nuts for taking my time away that i could have been doing something else besides trying to make this phone work.
so to sum it up.
the phone sucks when its factory
you try to tweak it
and end up even worse because the apps are also buggy and might even cripple it even more.
then you are stuck in a loop of constantly reflashing "new and improved" cooked rom
how many roms does it take to make this damn thing work?
i mean XDA dev is FILLED with roms. yet we still have problems.
so much development with so little effect on stability of the phone.
is there a rom that JUST WORKS?
the one that is aimed at overall stable running system and not some animated clouds on the home screen.
i live in seattle and theres no need for weather on the phone. its simple here. 2 choices either rain or clouds.
i really hope we can get a bootable android soon because this windows tweaking sht is getting old.
damn wtf does anything work properly with winmo?
i loaded HSPL took me about 20 minutes to sync with activesync
now the phone wont sync sith it again you damn i hate this BS.
everything works so randomly its not even funny.
you have to be microsoft certified to operate this assphone?

are you an idiot? i know your screen is OK and i know your phone is used. it doesn't matter. HTC's warranty is transferrable. you can send it back and they will fix it. geddit?
are you an idiot? the phone is stock and its not international
the screen works fine can you even read?
its the windows that is broken... theres no need to send it to HTC, all they can do is hard reset and send it back to me.
dont post here if you got nothing usefull to post
im tyring the WCX ILLUMINATI SERIES HD2 EURO/TMOUS 21911 2017 rom at the moment hoping that it will actually work this time with no issues.
the thing i ve notticed is theres tonns of tweaks available, but usually once you start customizing settings the phone ****s itsself and stops working properly.
and you re back default settings, which defies the idea of customizing...
Against my better judgment, I'm going to try to clarify some things for you.
The poster who suggested that you send it in to HTC for repair makes a good point. You are having way too many problems with your device for it to be in proper working order. Although it is not uncommon to get some decent heat comming off the HD2, heat + slow + crash strongly suggests that you have a hardware issue that HTC can resolve via repair. Another issue is that since you bought it used, I assume you have no idea what the phone was put through before it was in your possession.
Unfortunately there isn't really a "correct(latest/most stable/most usefull) rom".
Every user has a different idea of what "best" is.
For example: I can tell you that for me, there isn't anything inherently wrong with the stock ROM. I have been using it since day one and never felt the need to flash a custom one. Also, I have never had to do a hard reset despite the countless tweaks and hacks I have done. For all intents and purposes the HD2 has been a fantastic smartphone for me (and many others here).
Before you bash me for "not helping", please understand that your questions (or should I say, complaints) have already been answered as well as can be. There is no magic "make the phone work good" button that we aren't telling you about. You may not like to hear it but the first poster who said "you should have done your research" may not have been off the mark. It sounds like you would have a better experience with an android phone or an iphone.
Here is your solution simply:
1 - Hard reset
(if that doesn't work)
2 - Flash a custom ROM/Radio that works for you
(if that doesn't work)
3 - Send phone to HTC for repair
(if that doesn't work)
4 - This phone is not for you. Do your research and get an android phone or an iPhone
(if that doesn't work)
5 - Electronics are not for you. Find a cave, invent fire, make stone tools.
thanks for your help fae.
im not a complete noob to this and most of the time can tell when teres a hardware or OS error.
and this is not a first winmo phone i had.
i replaced my first touch pro2 and the replacement had same exact issues and so does this phone.
to be clear, my PC runs perfectly smooth, my blackberrys ran super smooth for the time i had them( i owned 3 of them)even after changing and modding everything i could think of, it seemed to work fine. and the rare times it didnt there were clear signs of what was causing the problem unlike this phone.
i just expect alot more from electronics, i expect the phone to make calls when i need to without freezing, i expect it to load the OS without freezing,
i expect it to run or perform daily tasks without hanging or giving me errors...
i also expect the loaded software to work with eachother without bugs.
like activesync for example. it works 1 time out of 30, i sat there plugging and unplugging my phone for about 20 minutes yesterday, finally made it connect out of the blue. so i flashed new rom while it was on thank god.
is that too much to ask really?
the heat issue i guess is a normal operating/charging temperature i found out after reading.
but give me a fn break i ve spent all my evenings reading and downloading apps and sht to make this thing run smoothly and theres never a stable combination with this it seems like.
im sorry but i dont want to get stuck in a tweaker mode where i spend all my free time chasing after the NEW AND IMPROVED mod that supposed to make it all better.i just want to use my damn phone and add a few more customizing options thats all..
most of you dont realize how much time you spend tweaking because you dont really pay attention to it, you look at it as a hobby of some sort when its not, its just a lame excuse for a bad operating system that should not be released,or should be updated or redesigned.
so far the illuminati rom works great stock but as soon as i add anything to it everything goes to sht.
i add bsb tweaks or cookie homescreen and everything freaks out.
its lagging its barely loading, cant make phone calls, cant use phone screen , program errors and all kinds of crap starts popping up.
the guy had it for a while never had any issues with it but he was using stock rom.
it was in a protective case as well.

Alright consider me sold on unlocking

I just installed AndroWook rom. I didn't want to, not really. I was hoping to never have to unlock my prime. But then there was the thread about performance, and the other one about users not being able to unlock. How could I possibly walk away from that kind of a challenge? So I downloaded it just to see if it would work. And it did. So then I had to install TWRP, and then I had to install a rom.
So I installed AndroWook with Motley 3.0.5 and all the tweeks it had to offer.
I didn't wipe, I cleared cache and dalvik. I have nearly 2 years of screwing around on an HTC desire, so I felt comfortable with this level of deleting. Everything booted up properly, no apps were missing and everything (as of now) is working at least as well as before.
Then came the big test. The one that annoys me more then anything else. Copying a file from a USB thumb drive to internal memory. It usually takes 10 times as long as my windows PC does. So I plugged in the drive and copied a 250mb file. It took all of 20 seconds (I didn't really time, but it was MUCH faster). My jaw dropped.
I'm sold. ASUS has no clue what they're doing. This thing is great. I can copy files to the internal storage without staring at the percentage copying 10, then stoping, 12, stop, 15, stop, 20... This time it went smoothly from 0 to 100%.
If you haven't unlocked your device, you're missing out.
Appreciate the oppinion. Would like to hear more from your experiences with custom firmware as I'm also very unsatisfied with stock rom.

Well I've been up for about 2 hours now, and while I'm not sure if it 'feels' a lot of faster, but I haven't had screen tear issues. I'll keep running this rom for at least a week and I'll update if anything changes. If there's anything you'd like me to test (as long as it is free or I already have it) let me know!
Parastie, you sound just like me almost. I've been twitching at all these challenges being presented before me. Failed unlocks, failed roots, better performance. How I've managed to resist unlocking so far is beyond me. My poor desire s didn't last so long, its been flashed so many times I don't think it knows what kind of device it even is anymore.
So you say file transfer is slow on stock, eh? I must witness this. Might be the straw that breaks the camels back for me. The one last push to unlocking.

Welcome to the club!
So when you say copying from thumb drive to internal memory, you mean via the usb port on the dock right? (must be because I can't think of how else you would be doing it.)
The reason I ask is, I've been unlocked for a while, but haven't done any thumb drive to internal memory copying since I unlocked. I also found this unbelievably slow when running stock though (and all the starting and stopping made me think WTF???)
Gotta try it out tonight.

Yeah the copying to internal memory was the most annoying. Slow as dirt, it makes putting HD movies on this thing impossible. I've only tried one file, but I'm going to try another large file when I get some time.
Also note, screen tearing still happens. I got it to stop by locking the screen for a few seconds, but that's still an issue.

Anyone know if handwriting notetaking is better with any custom roms? My biggest problem with the prime has been how bad the digitizer seems to be (as in trying to draw a diagonal line the prime makes a crazy wavy line). Touchscreen tune helps but doesn't fully fix the problem.
Not sure if this is something a ROM can really fix or not.
It does help some, I can tell the difference in a well performing rom by using handwriting apps. The handwriting apps when a rom is slow or sluggish don't keep up, kind of like an underpowered android phone and keyboard lag. But when performing properly, the handwriting is more accurate and keeps up with the stylus or finger, in my experiences.
Without seeing your problem, I can't say if it's because of your software and/or configuration, or if it's some very strange hardware problem that software can't fix. But I can tell you that typically a tablets performance overall greatly affects how things react to the touch screen and how the graphics render.

Can you please either confirm or contradict one thing: I had a battery drain issue. For example before going to bed the tablet was docked and both batteries almost full, in the morning - dock battery flat, tablet - half empty. SystemPanel suggested it's a Facebook app and, miracle, as soon as I deleted the app I haven't seen leaks anymore.
This's a bit strange because this app has never caused drain issues before. Syncing and notifications were disabled.

I won't defend asus as far a knowing what they are doing but I have never used a stock mobile device that could not be drastically improved by dedicated developers. The hardware companies are only focused on a product as long as it takes to hit a shelf and then by and large you are on your own. Thats why this is the best site on the internet for non sheep type people.

This sounds like a text book app or widget problem and not a device problem.

if you want to keep the facebook app, try turning off wifi when you turn the tablet off before you go to bed. super easy with the dock and i've gotten in the habit of doing so myself. i see 1-2% battery drain on teh tablet overnight, and <1% on teh dock. you might also want to try setting wifi to not stay on during sleep by default in settings, but idk if a wakelock via facebook would fix this.
also, did you try clearing data and cache or restarting and it still did this? anyways, sorry to be so OT to the OP. PM me if you want to chat about this some more.
I also bit the bullet yesterday.
Unfortunately my experience was not so good...
1. Unlocked, installed TRWP, made backup (and titanium).
2. Wipe device.
3. Install Androwook.
4. Tried to restore Titanium backup on to find it will prompt you twice for every app (I was not going to do this for 150 odd apps).
5. Go back to recovery, wipe device, and restore backup (this 'only' took about 30 minutes...).
6. Reboot, took about 15 minutes to boot.
7. My home screen was messed up, none of my installed apps would run, only the apps included in ROM.
8. Go back to recovery, wipe again, and installed AndroWook again.
9. Spent the entire day downloading apps from the play store again.
During the last step, the poor tablet consistently froze and even had a random reboot. Play store ANR'd about 15 times...
Eventually had everything back installed, but all my 'user data' is lost (hopefully I can recover this with Titanium if needed).
To be honest. It does not really feel any different. No OOOOHH's and AAAAAHH's like everyone says.
So now I have 2 problems. A useless tablet and no bloody warranty.
To top this off, I discovered another dead pixel (white one, not so noticeable) yesterday.

The paid version of Titanium Backup allows for one-click batch restoring...

Thats the only thing which is bugging me on the stock rom. Can others confirm this major improvement? Can anyone say what is responsible for this I/O enhancement? Is it the ROM (IO schedulers) or is it Motleys kernel?

Parastie said:
Yeah the copying to internal memory was the most annoying. Slow as dirt, it makes putting HD movies on this thing impossible. I've only tried one file, but I'm going to try another large file when I get some time.
Also note, screen tearing still happens. I got it to stop by locking the screen for a few seconds, but that's still an issue.

I was on the fence about this issue too. Screen tearing & I/O performance was a big issue for me. Looks like it's device dependent, some users dont have it, some have it. Our device have this issue. ;(
B4 this I've read a few posts from other forumers claiming that tearing still happens on custom kernel & ROM.

Wouldn't be a surprise as they're based off the stock rom.

Well screen tearing still happens here. Of course, I did not do a full wipe and I'm running Wook which is based on stock. It is possible that AOKP or CM9 would not have this problem. I was going for what most people said was the fastest. As far as day-to-day use goes, after a full day I don't really see a huge difference. It was great before, and it still is.

I suspect JB ROMs will be better at this as it bumps-up the CPU speed for user interactions.

Help with Random Reboots

Hey guys, my i777 has been random rebooting for 3 months now. I've tried everything in the realms of wiping, foctory reseting, ROM flashing etc. When I flash a new ROM (I like SuperNexus and CM9/10) the random reboots are happenning once a day. As time goes by, the number of random reboots reaches a number like 10, 15 per day, which makes the phone basically a black brick. I've tried identifying usage patterns that could lead me to a system fail (maybe some app could be causing it?) but it didn't make either.
It's a hard reset (it takes me back to Samsung screen) and I've tried everything, in every way, in every forum you can imagine, I've also tried looking in the last_kmsg log file, but it never gives me material to work with.
My last attempt to make this work is right below, I've recorded the logcat (it's really big!). I'd be very pleased if anyone with more knowledge in Android system than me could try to identify what's causing this. Thank you so much! The logcat is attached in this thread.
So you've tried going back to stock ginger bread, not installing any apps, and seeing if the problem persists?

Yes I have, keep getting random reboots. Is this a case of throwing the phone away and buying another? I have it for 1,5 years, maybe should be time to move ahead... This thing already gave me so much headache that I've already paid another phone in stress and sweat

As long as you're not adjusting voltages, sounds like maybe the power button could be sticking

Well, guess this could be my last try. I'll check it out and post my results asap... thank you.
There are tutorials on replacing the power button, from what I've read its not too difficult but I suppose its always easier said than done eh lol.

I had a similar issue, mine would reboot sometimes once a week, sometimes 5-10 times a day. Random sleep of death, freeze and complete battery drain etc. I finally sent it in on my square trade warranty and they replaced the main board - some sort of short in there that was causing it i guess. I suppose it would be possible to swap out the main board, or buy a used phone with a broken screen or something to strip for parts.
There is a great video by "le55ons" on youtube tearing down a I9100 that could help you get an idea of what's involved.

A few minor issues...should I be concerned/return?

Got the Sprint Note 3 on launch day. Great phone. However, last night, I kept getting a message that said "Samsung WatchOn Has Stopped". I didn't remember turning it on, and I got this message several times. I have also had trouble getting stuff to download from the play store, but last night it finally started downloading fine. I am staying at a hotel(traveling for work), so their WiFi could be the issue there. I kept getting error 500. And I could always try removing and re adding my Google account. Last, but not least, my power button is ever so slightly crooked(power, not home). The side towards the bottom of the phone sits slightly lower than the side towards the top. Anyway, this is my first Samsung, I've always had HTC, so maybe the phone it's just built this way. Sorry to sound retentive, but the phone wasn't cheap, and I usually keep my phone's for 2+ years, do if there are any issues that warrant a return, I want to return it while I can still get a NEW replacement. Has anyone else experienced any of this? It's any of this a big deal? Is there something I'm doing wrong? Or am I being a worry way for no reason?
I too just left HTC for this phone. Taking some getting use to. If you feel that uncomfortable I would take it back...

Well I have another week to return it. I will feel it out some more, just to be sure these aren't user errors. As for the button, I dunno what to think, but it is barely noticeable, and doesn't impact functionality at all. So, maybe I am making too much of it. Just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced these issues. I may or may not take it back to exchange it for a new one, time will tell. I had to exchange my first EVO 3D after two weeks due to constant force closes, but the second one worked like a charm for the next 2+ years.
If you have any questions about the reliability of your Device return it ASAP. You only have 14 days to exchange from ORIGINAL purchase date and it might take a few days to figure out if your replacement is also a lemon but by then 14 will have passed and you'll be relying on the carrier to fix.

Funny you mentioned the EVO 3D, I was just thinking, had that phone came with LTE instead of Wimax I would still be using it...I loved that one more than any of the many others I have had...
The top of the phone is slightly thicker on the back due to the camera, but if you mean with the screen laying flat that could be an actual issue. As far as the play store, I know there was some issue with it a couple days ago but try clearing the cache for the play store app and if all else fails a factory reset to see if the problem persists. I came from the HTC One and I'm loving this phone, but definitely take it back if there are recurring issues.

I mean it it's uneven when looming at the BACK of the phone. When looking at the side of the phone(the top of the button), it is perfectly straight. When looking at the BACK off the phone, you can see that the button sits slightly lower on the bottom than the top. And I do mean slightly. It also presses a little more easily on the bottom, with less pressure. It doesn't feel loose or anything, and every display I have played with has had a different feel to its buttons. Some more like mine than others. I think it's because the power button Has a single point of contact, unlike the volume buttons, so most of them seem looser on one side or another...?
Got another "unfortunately, Samsung WatchOn has stopped" message this morning. Again, I didn't start this app. Probably gonna take this back for exchange.

Did that yesterday, but have gotten the message once more since. Didn't install greenify though.
Got the phone yesterday and saw the same Watchon problem. Haven't used it yet, just setting it up. The Google Play error 500 is on Google's end but it's fixed now. The home button has some play. The rear cover can be easily removed without damaging the camera cover. So far so good, not enough annoyance to warrant a return yet/

Hello, I'm having wi fi issues with the note 3, could anyone direct me to an xda discussion for this problem? Thanks
Backed up my pics in Dropbox and factory reset after talking to.Samsung. They claim to be unaware of any issues. Well keep an eye on it, and return it to Best Buy if issues persist.
No problems since the reset.

[Q] Please Help Me: Rooted Phone & Weirdness After Factory Reset & Failed ROM Flash

[Q] Please Help Me: Rooted Phone & Weirdness After Factory Reset & Failed ROM Flash
So I rooted my SGS4 a few months after getting it from VZW. I was fine with it simply being rooted for over a year and finally decided there was a few things I no longer wanted to live with. I started going down the path of flashing a ROM and after what I felt was enough research settled on the one that would work with my phone. Or so I thought. Short story is it did not and I found out later it wasn't compatible. Prior to flashing said ROM I created a backup and did a factory reset and wipe like a good little boy. Well, I think this is what caused the issues I'm now experiencing. I'll start with the few I can think or right off-hand as being the man annoyances but I reserve the right to add more later as they come up.
So, w/o further adieu, here's the issues I'm having, numbered for our convenience.
1) Whenever I boot up my phone I get the 'Android is Upgrading' after every single reboot with about 62 items 'upgrading' so it takes a while. I use my phone a lot and carry spare batteries that I change out every time it gets low so this can be several times a day and many times the wait of several minutes is quite inconvenient. As I found in a search, I tried using an app called 'Lucky AppManager' to clear the ODEX files and it reboots and I do it again a few times and it still doesn't seem to do any good.
2) for some reason all of my contacts has a little SIM card next to them that I don't recall seeing and it now won't let me edit any of them to add or remove information. This is annoying.
3) This one had been going on for a bit prior to me attempting to flash a ROM so I had hoped at minimum it would be resolved after the reset. Nope. Power down times are very slow. It used to be whenever I powered it down it took only a dozen or so seconds. Even less right when I got it. Then, one day, it took a minute or two to completely power down and has taken that long every since. Annoying.
There was something else but as I type this I'm drawing a blank. Any help that anyone can help me on any of the above would greatly help me.
Thanks!
p.s. This is a duplicate thread since I was so rudely made aware that I had posted to the wrong subforum. Sometimes this forum earns is rep. Sorry to those who genuinely care because a few bad apples ruin it for everyone.

If you're on nk1 or ng6, have you tried going back to nc5 via odin? It sounds like you need to flash the full wipe nc5 and start over from scratch.
