Hey folks,
Iam from India and i own Sgs2 I9100. Last day it suddenly turned off and when i tried to turn it on it was stuck in booting and i pulled out the battery. But now it doesnt even turn on ,it doesnt even show charging battery indication.Just gets heated near camera. So its Hard bricked. I negotiated with samsung service centre about the price of new motherboard. They are ready to give it for 6k. But problem is that my phone is not indian version. I bought it from australia. So the service centre guys are saying they can get the board replaced but wont Give me IMEI. That is they will just give me Motherboard replaced. I have got my previous EFS FOLDER saved in my pc.So if i get just the board replaced from them can i just copy my efs folder and get my phone back to life. My basic question is that what will come with new board ? which rom ?. Or is it just motherboard without any rom and i have to use odin ?.
Expecting an earliest reply. Iam tensed.

Hello everyone. I need your expertise on what I should do.
Here is my situation:
I had a S2 bought in May 2011. A month ago it didn't turn on anymore. I sent it to Samsung and they said that the motherboard was oxydized, so it'd have costed me 200 euro for a motherboard replacement. I declined, got it back, and opened it to clean the oxyd. Sadly it still doesn't turn on anymore.
A friend of mine gave me her S2 because "it doesn't have any phone signal, like it's stuck in airplane mode". I checked it, and she has missing files in her EFS folder (wifi mac is there for example, but the imei is not), for which she has no backups. GSII_Repair etc didn't work.
What should I do to make either of the two work again?
Can I use the backup of my EFS folder to make her's work again as far as phone signal goes?
Or should I open her's too, take her motherboard off and put it into mine?
Thanks a lot as always guys,
Roby

You cannot use your efs back up because it contains imei information which will conflict with the phone imei and may cause you to have a brick.
Changing the mother board from one phone to another will not solve the problem as the efs on the chip on the motherboard.
I believe you need jtag service to rebuild or replace the efs folder on the phone.
So if I actually bought a motherboard off ebay i'd still not have been able to do anything with it?

If you bought an used intact motherboard with all the files on it. Yes, You can put it on your phone and it will work fine.
Is any of the phones been reported "stolen".......lol
Nope, mine got oxydized but i have the backup of the efs folder, hers lost the imei while doing a firmware update (with kies, its unrooted and never flashed with odin)
If it was me Id try to use her efs or brick both phones and sell them on eBay.Then if you list them as "not switching on" your doing nothing wrong.
You could get £250 total for both phones(unless screens broken) and buy a good phone with the dough.
Or brick her phone, put in her mb,and send it to samsung for warranty for your claim.
What is the warranty status of both phones?
I dont know about "oxidised"....maybe samsung thinks you should be using their product in a vaccum.
Hi All, I have been using S2 since 1 n half year. I have rooted my cell many times , recently I rooted my cell with Jelly Bean unofficial , it was working fine for 1 month , yesterday suddenly cell phone was switched off and it did not restart. When I took it to Samsung service center , the person says , there is problem with Motherboard whcih need to be replaced for 10000 rs. Can any one suggest for alternative / lesser price motherboard / any suggestion. Thanks in advance.
Check eBay/Google search to try & buy a 2nd hand broken phone/with a broken screen (someone on here also managed to find a 2nd hand board on its own about a week or so ago, I don't recall where from) you can pull the motherboard out of & swap into yours. If you're not confident doing it yourself, a local mobile shop may do it for your more cheaply than what you've been quoted for what I assume (??) is a new motherboard as opposed to a 2nd hand one.
Hi Friends,
I am new to this website and I am here to get a possible DIY solution to restart my Galaxy S2.
Its been a week now and its not working at all . I have checked almost all videos and thread however unable to find a steamline solution.
My phone was showing Samsung logo in case of power Up however after that there was no responce. Tried several times but no luck.
Later I gave my phone to Samsung sevice station , guy gave the assurance to get it done in 3 hrs as its a normal thing. Today, I got my phone back in a dead state and he says (Sir, we are unable to reboot as it has some harware issue and will cost over 8k INR to change the mother board).
Guys, I dont find it worth investing on a 2 Yr old phone. Hence I want to take a chance to get it started myself.
Please Guide.
You can't. Do you think they make this stuff up at service centres or something ? Not everything is a Samsung conspiracy against users.
If your phone won't boot at all & shows no signs of life, what do you expect anyone here to say ? One way or another, if you want your phone to work again, you're replacing the motherboard. Whether you pay a service centre to put a new one in, or whether you source a 2nd hand one from a 'donor' phone (one with a broken screen which is otherwise OK, for example) & either replace it yourself or pay a local mobile repair shop (who isn't a Samsung service centre) to do it, is up to you.
As you've already mentioned you have a 2 yr old phone that doesn't work, and it won't be working again without you spending a not insignificant amount money. If it were me, I'd be getting a new phone.
Hi guys !
A few weeks ago, I accidentally deadbricked my Galaxy Note I717 (known in Singapore as the Note 1 LTE/N7005) , so I sent it to a repair shop to get the whole motherboard replaced. I just got it back yesterday, and I could not get a stable signal at all , only LTE and GSM on rare occasions for a few minutes. I checked the IMEI and found out that the software's IMEI did not match the one printed on the back of the phone.
Any ideas how can I get this issue fixed WITHOUT buying a 3rd party SDT Box or such items?
Thanks !
From what I know, replacing the motherboard is like getting a different phone. So, you may need to contact your service provider and tell them that you repaired your phone. See if they can update your account to make your service work on the phone.
Hey there,my motherboard from my s3 i9300 was broken and a buy another one from a guy who broke the display on this mobile. The only problem it s that the motherboard it s from GT-I9305 LTE and now i replace it but i get that imei null/ and no baseband.I try already with stock rom,efs backup.I meantion that when i first power on the phone it was working fine it has signal, detect carrier, imei etc.But after i remove to battery to put all the screw it does't work any more.
Any other ideas?
