Only ROMs which are specifically intended for the GT-i9100.

You need to change kernel. Flash Siyah kernel via ODIN (PDA section) then you will have new recovery that will flash rom you want.

I flashed Rootbox asop based from philz recovery just do a full wipe
Then flash .

[Q] Custom Recovery option for 4.0.4?

Is there any way to get a custom recovery installed on the LQ5 ICS 4.0.4 without flashing a custom kernel?
Related to that, all I'm looking for is a way to make a nandroid backup with restore option, so if there's a third-party way of doing it, I'd appreciate any suggestions.
I've always used CF-Root Kernels, but I just Mobile Odin flashed this ROM and I have stock recovery, so the backup/restore features are gone.
Just flash the latest CF-Root kernel via Odin in the PDA section and you will obtain your custom recovery. No other way for it.

From what I can see, that's LPK 5.5, right?

I'll be extra cautious, as what I'm seeing here is it might have the emmc brick bug in kernel.
So what ever you do do not wipe using stock recovery.
I'm using the save ROM and loving it. But will wait for any more news.
Though I have wiped multiple times using the dial code.
Yes I believe you just flash the latest CF-Root either via Mobile Odin or normal Odin. As atifsh said, don't wipe anything in the stock recovery as the MMC_CAP_ERASE seems to still be present and will eMMC brick your device, which is a real pain considering Samsung know about this. But it is still only a leaked ROM, so be very cautious.

Look at this:

If you flash other kernel and you don't re-flash then the original one some things like bluetooth will not work....
If you do my procedure you will have CMW, Root & the most important thing: THE ORIGINAL KERNEL!!! :cyclops::good:
PRESS TNX BUTTON IF I HELP YOU :good:
When I flashed the Stock_LQ5-CWM.zip above, I lost custom recovery and went back to stock recovery.
Chainfire has released CF-Root for LQ5, so problem solved.
Thanks for the input.

The question is simple. It is already written above but I cam say it again. So the question is can you flash a siyah kernel(or any other custom kernel) with stock e3 recovery? I'm only asking it because we are on the road and there is no way I could go to a computer. Thanks in advance and sorry my bad english,

Definitively not. But, if you are on the road the solution is very simple:
Buy odin mobile pro, download Siyah Odin version and flash with it.

There is easier
Download cwm image from clockworkmod site (or link in my signature / method 1) and put it in your external sd card. Apply update from recovery and you get a temporary cwm to flash all that you need
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
When you enter the stock recovery, apply this update from the sdcard.
http://download2.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-4.0.1.5-galaxys2.zip
It won't permanently replace the stock recovery but temporarily, so you can replace the kernel with Siyah through CWM.

Thank you! I downloaded mobile odin and flashed with it. Thank tou!

[Q] Stock 4.1.2 JB - how to root and install custom rom?

Hi
I'm have "[I9100][ROM 4.1.2] Stock 4.1.2 JB - real deal" installed to my device now. But I want to get back to custom roms.
Is it possible to root this and flash CWM using Odin? Or do I need first to flash stock ICS/GB using Odin?

You can root with philz no prob. Done that. No need to downgrade in my opinion. Then install anything you want. Need link for philz?

I think it's very dangerous for you to flash a custom rom, if you didn't get his sarcasm.
To answer your question: why do you think developers create instructions on their first page of the rom-thread? It's not there just to be ignored.

Sir, AFAIK Siyah will not boot neat rom lite v4.1 when installed from its Recovery as people have already faced that issue for now
it can be flashed later (after installing neat rom lite v4.1)

best way to change Custom recovery?

Okay my device details:
model i9300
recovery: Siyah's custom recovery (1.8 +)
kernel: stock cm10.1 kernel (latest nightly)
rom : cm10.1
i wish to change to philz recovey as it is "protected " from the SDS...
whats the best and safe way..?
