First of all I'm running terrasilent with the ethereal ROM and I am rooted.
Anyways whenever I try to create a backup it goes through the whole process until it gets to backing up the cache then it says "unable to find mounted volume:/cache" then right after that it says "error finding an appropriate backup handler" then goes back to the menu and doesn't save the backup.
Any help would be highly appreciated

Currenently running leaked JI4 ROM. Created backup thru Nandroid. System backed up. Data backed up. Then received a message that was something like "can't find sd, skipping sd". The backup completed and reboot was fine.
Heres my question... When i go to restore this backup, am i going to have any problems. I think I had a similar issue with the JI2 ROM. Restored nandroid of JI2 and it hung on vibrant screen. So I ended up restoring a bionix 1.3 backup I had and it booted fine. Do I need to take extra steps to create a "stock" nandroid backup of the JI4 ROM? Do I need to flash a Stock kernel along with the nand backup? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
ps- if you need any clarity on the situation, please ask. i'll try to clarify better!
I tried out the CM7 ROM, then went to restore my nandroid backup of VirusRom, it finished, and then i rebooted. It stays on the HTC logo. Went back to recovery, restored a nandroid of the debloat ROM, same thing.
Re-flashed the zip for VirusRom and all is well, but of course i lost all my data. Anyone else have any issues with restoring? Any ideas? I even tried wiping data and cache after the restore and still got stuck on the HTC logo.
I've only restored to a stock rom backup w/ root - and that worked perfectly fine.
Not sure if this matters, but did you have spaces in your backup name?
Nope i keep them simple like: "debloated" and "virusrom"
Ok it seems i have found the issue, but not the source. It is popping up an error message when i try to restore, "Error while formatting /system!" Does this on all of my backups. Tried mounting system and then doing a restore, no go. Any ideas?
When i try to manually format /system it shows the same error.
Tried just doing a restore of the data, then it throws up an error formatting /data. Tried to manually format /data, same error. Choose Factory Reset and it formats data and cache just fine.
Should i try redownloading CWM? I'm currently running 3.0.2.4
Its a known issue...go to rom manager, clear download cache, click on erase recovery in the settings menu, then reflash the newest recovery.
That did the trick! Thanks. I had searched but hadn't found that.
It is best practice to clear data/cache when switching ROMs. Boot into recovery and take care of that and you should be fine!
I am unable to restore my nandroids on the Atrix.
I tried at least 2 out of the 3 recoveries (ClockWorkMod fails, RomRacer fails, I don't remember if I tried the other one)
The backup is created and it is about 800mb however when I go to restore the backup it errors out restoring /system partition, in the logs I see:

Which is surprising since it's a nandroid...Does anyone know how to recover from this problem? The only way I know to get my phone to work is a rather lengthy process:
Flash 141 sbf
Flash the unlockable bootloader
Flash preinstall and re-root
Restore from TitaniumBackup
This takes a good hour to do, and naturally i'd like to be able to make snapshots of my phone for backups. I think I need to resize/repartition but I am not sure if that will delete my internal files.
NOTE, I did try 2 different roms on the phone, CM7.2 RC1 and Jokersax CM9 build which worked great (but I want this phone on stock right now)
Today I decided to upgrade the cyanogenmod software of my girlfriend's phone. I did a android backup before doing it and I have it both on my SD card and on the phone. The upgrade went wrong (dont'know why i was having many crashes of some apps) so i decided to restore the android backup. I have tarp recovery and i'm having two problems. The first one is when I select MD5 check: it's written MD5 failed to match on... maybe because I followed the guide about creating an MD5 blank file ( I was having problems in matching MD5). When I uncheck the MD5 check box, the backup starts and it seems it works, but when I press reboot the system it says NO OS INSTALLED. I need some help please I've tried for two hours fixing it.
What partitions did you backup and try to restore? Sounds like /system or /boot didn't backup or restore properly. You could try to reinstall the original rom she was on and then do just a /data restore and see if that works. Other than that, either another rom or back to stock are the main options. What was going wrong on the new rom? Did you try to upgrade by dirty flashing - as in not wiping /data? Sometimes it also helps to format /system too when upgrading the rom to make sure there's nothing leftover. Also, getting the correct Gapps are important for everything to run correctly.
PS: I've been having some issues with backups in TWRP on my phone as well and wasn't able to restore /data and if I just choose to restore just boot and /system then it would at least boot backup and be usable. I'm not sure if this is a similar issue to yours or just phone specific.
Hi all !
I need your help because I'm really desperate.
My phone was working fine but I had some error with Handcent application.
I decided to restore a previous nandroid backup (that I had previously successfully restored) but now I've got an "error while restoring data" after a long time working.
Tried to do 3 wipes (data factory, cache, Dalivk), but same issue.
Tried with some other backups, same issue.
I'm really lost....
Is there any way to get me out of this ? :crying:
My phone is now unusable.
When I run the phone after restoring faultly, it asked me my google account, as if it was the first time I was running the phone, and not all applications are installed.
When I try to install missing applications with Google Play, I've got an error, and no way to restore from Titanium Backup, no error but freezes.
Please HELP !
Flash your firmware using Odin or recovery, if the backup is corrupt then it can't be fixed.
Thanks, but this backup was OK last time I've restored it, and I had the same issue with some other recent backups.
It appears that the size was too big, over 2,5GB.
I've restored from a 2,41GB backup and it has worked.
The mistery is why I was able to restore from this backup one time, and now does not work anymore...
